This is the only game I've ever digitally preordered, after UK PS store updated details that you get 5 dynamic themes with it, and it is such a good price for what you get given how amazing the graphics are now, and the controls feel really good too, I really love the updates detailed in this review...haha and of course I'm a sucker for good dynamic themes! Played well over half of the first one last night and was amazed how much I remembered from my childhood! Happy times 😊
@NeoTokyo404 Just a heads up, the best PSN sales are almost upon us - Black Friday period sale and then the post-Xmas sale (especially latter one) tend to offer great discounts on AAA fare, and then there's the yearly Big in Japan sale (was in July 2017 and started end April this year I think), which is great if you like niche-in-the-West Japanese games. As I said, you can use psprices UK site to see the lowest a game has been on PSN store...haha and then record it on your doc like I do! ...indie titles tend to have good sales all year round btw.
If I like the main game then I'll always buy the dlc eventually, provided the type of content is up my alley. If it's reasonably priced like recent Sony dlc has been then I'll buy it once I know it's all been released and reviewed, and if I consider it over-priced as with Ubisoft season passes, then I'll just wait for a decent price drop in a PSN sale and get it then 😀 Btw, I absolutely loved Lost Legacy and got it day one...I maybe even enjoyed it more than Uncharted 4! That elephant scene was adorable. I also really enjoyed Frozen Wilds expansion.
@NeoTokyo404 No worries - glad I could help, I love a good bargain! I envy you being new to PS4 as you probably have a lot of great PS exclusives yet to play! You may already know about https://psprices.com/region-gb/index which lets you know the cheapest price a digital game has ever been in a PSN sale on UK's PS store. I don't know about getting codes from other sites for use in the PS store, but @get2sammyb or one of the other Push Square journalists(sorry, I'm good with names but bad at remembering handles) probably know one way or the other 😀
Oh dear, Youtube does like to unfairly meddle a lot these days. No one is being forced to watch this if they are sensitive to the triggering phenomenon, and this insignificant roleplaying offending folk is just another example of people who've been programmed by modern society and its Twitter obsession to chase after the moral outrage in order to get a high from it, because I think that is why some folk seem to genuinely enjoy being outraged and having that validated by others on social media, because it gives them a dopamine release. If this guy was inciting people to go out and do this in real life then it would be different, and I may be wrong here but it sounds like he's just having a laugh roleplaying to me. On a side note though, then I do think it's a pity that people tend to get modern day feminists confused with the olden days feminists, because the former mostly seem to just enjoy being outraged and being part of a mutual-validation club, where as the latter actually had good reason to be fighting! Haha, they'd likely be horrified if they saw the way that many claiming to be feminists today carry on!
@NeoTokyo404 I usually use gamecollection, base, or simplygames depending, and sometimes shopto (and all have a base in the UK so delivery is free here). I use the pricespy UK site to compare. Preorders aren't super cheap, but usually at least £5 cheaper than Amazon and often more in my experience, and the prices of games tend to drop faster there than on Amazon and they send sales notification PR emails if you want them...though I'm not saying it's bargain basement, just generally better deals for the most part than Amazon (except during Prime Day and BF which are massive for Amazon of course) 😀
Edit: PSN has some epic sales too - I get lots of stuff from there when it's dropped enough, but sometimes I want a hardcopy.
I'm mad for list-making so I'd love a decent PSN wishlist! Atm I have a Kindle doc and use Amazon for my visual games wishlist, but rarely buy games from there because PSN is always having sales and the UK has an abundance of reliable small game-selling sites which offer better reductions as well as lower prices on preorders than Amazon, so often wished my PS4 had an easy to use wishlist function.
Very impressed - Ubisoft's actually done a truly good one with Odyssey (I'm a side quester btw, so wasn't affected by the level grind)! At 30hrs, I was very happy with the game, but wouldn't have put it on a GOTY list, but at 60hrs then I'd totally changed my mind and think it deserves to be a nominee. Story and the proper sidequests are so much more interesting than Origins' counterparts, and the side stuff was written with silly humour too - I love that the writing team didn't take themselves too seriously! Looking forward to eventually going back to finish this 😀
Bought it a few weeks after release, played at least 20hrs (likely fair bit more), then paused for Odyssey and RDR2, but will absolutely get back to it and aim for the plat once I finish those two (and Spyro possibly also, if I end up caving and getting it digital day one!) Still mad that Squenix released DQXI in such an insane release window though - it's like they don't even want it to sell well in the West!
Probably my most fondly remembered platformer series from the PSone era - I've such happy memories of playing this and its sequel with my big brother when I was a young! I have the oddboxx in my digital library if I ever wanna revisit it though, and New 'n' Tasty on my PS4. I remember distinctly being really happy when I discovered the quiksave function in Exoddus, because having that considerably lessened my game rage!
Like many others have said, the problem isn't that they announced a mobile Diablo game, but their arrogant attitude and the contempt they showed to their loyal fanbase (who paid and travelled to attend their convention) by making this the headline announcement and not even thinking to mitigate the disappointment by at least announcing a D2 remaster! That is why fans are so mad, and they have every right to be. Blizzard is being incredibly short-sighted treating their fanbase like this, arrogantly assuming that they will blindly stick with them into the future just because they've hitherto made really good games.
Already own most games that interest me in Double Discounts, and ones on my wishlist aren't reduced enough yet, but was very happy to finally pick up Night in the Woods and first two SAO games in the Under £13 sale, as I more often than not remote play indie titles and those types of JRPGs on my Vita in bed at night.
Sony is clearly terrified that it will be the next entity to be accused of misogyny and sexual exploitation, which is a very real possibility given the current outrage climate and social media mob mentality going on of late (which shows no signs of letting up, probably because their demands have been caved into so many times) so I can understand Sony's stance. However, I don't think this is a good idea, as it sets a precedent for them when it comes to censoring - with the exception of virtual paedophilia of course, as I defo think the line should be drawn there - but I don't think anything else sexually explicit or boobified should be censored for mature rated games as it should be up to adults what they play.
Really pleased to hear that a mid-tier game did well sales-wise 😀 The comparative lack of decent mid-tier games this gen is worrying. Just wish that some other recent releases had had the foresight to release during drier periods too! Been planning to pick this up if it drops below £20 during one of the big end year PSN sales, as I couldn't justify getting this full price when there was so much coming out to save for in Autumn.
@huyi Haha, I know what you mean there! I'm a sucker for a good PSN sale myself, so I have the most humongous backlog of games I've not even started! I don't have VR, but I did want to make a start on the Skyrim remaster too before the year is out, but not so sure I'll be able to now as that's another 200+hr game itself and took me ages last gen!
Had hardcopy on preorder, but it's taking absolutely ages to install, as expected. Enjoying the free dynamic theme in the meantime and will defo be playing it all weekend! Haha, problem is I've now got two games unfinished in DQXI and AC Odyssey because of the crazy Autumn release schedule this year, and I'm the type who generally plays all my games to completion before starting the next one!
@nessisonett Yes, agreed this shows that Trump is an embarrassment to the male gender - he's always talked twaddle - but although this makes for incredibly funny reading, it is hardly evidence of an actual sexual assault! Anyway, I'm not the enemy here - I made one flippant comment about oversensitivity in the modern era; no need to pounce on me like we're having a collective Trump fantasy 😉 At the end of the day, then what I am advocating for is a politics free gaming space.
@nessisonett There's a certain irony that you react this way, given that my post was related to oversensitivity. Look, this is a gaming website for gaming-related debate, not a place for angry political debate, which is why I won't engage with you in reply re opinions of Trump. It's also why I phrased my original opinion on here in a humourous, flippant way, rather than doing an in depth political analysis; people don't come to a gaming site for that! Seeing as you seem to think patronising me is ok, then you may want to look up the definition of libel, because if you're gonna call someone a sexual predator, then you really ought to have proof and not just hot air!
He absolutely hits the nail on the head here, though tbf Trump didn't start the oversensitivity thing - he just triggered everyone who was infected with it with his doolally unfiltered thoughts 😁 Since South Park started when I was 9, I grew up watching that (my alltime favourite show probably), and playing GTAs with my brother, so I don't understand this whole easily offended thing and it rather annoys me at times. It's one of the reasons why I tend to use only pushsquare and gematsu for gaming news, as many others have gotten so political (for want of a better word), and I just can't be doing with the moral pretentiousness.
Looks like my childhood...with better graphics 😀 Sad though as this was a day one hardcopy preorder for me, until I found out about only first game being on disc! Now it is a digital purchase, but not until it's reduced a little on a deal of the week or whatever, as I'm not paying over a fiver more for digital on day one when I was really looking forward to seeing the hardcopy on my shelf! So disappointing!
Love Fallout, but I never had any intention of getting this one before (let alone after reading that letter), due to Bethesda's ongoing rep for bugs infestations in their rpgs, which they seem to treat more like a heritage site which needs to be preserved in perpetuity rather than something which needs to be fixed asap! They'd be better off making this a free to play game, as then they'd suffer no damage to their reputation and would undoubtedly make a fortune off of MTX, which could be justified if it was a free to play buggy mess rather than a AAA price one! So gonna continue to hold out for a New Vegas Remaster myself.
More street crimes?! Personally, I'm all street crimed out after pushing through the tedium of every single one for the plat last month! Will still defo be getting this dlc though (pending good reviews), but only once it has all been released so I can play it concurrently.
Still ploughing through AC Odyssey, which is proving to be a more than adequate distraction from the now agonising wait for RDR2. Still really enjoying Odyssey, but the (imo) deliberately added grind would really be getting on my nerves by now if I wasn't such an "easily distracted side quester" type of gamer, as it is noticeable how slowly you level up. Still don't think I'll be done with it by the 26th though, as I'm after the platinum, so will likely have to return to it in November, along with DQXI.
I'm fully expecting a 95 or above on Metacritic. Often big releases are overhyped, so folk's expectations are through the roof and they end up disappointed when a game is merely very good as opposed to positively orgasmic (and I've seen folk pointing this out more and more this last few years, so the hype phenomenon is defo getting worse I reckon), but I have faith that Rockstar will deliver on the high expectations for RDR2...provided that their not quite as great parent company hasn't snuck any surprise unnecessary MTX into the single player that is!
Very happy with this - Rockstar single player campaigns don't come along that often (well, at least not nowadays), so longer is better for me provided it is of their usual high quality. Easily spent 80+ never-once-bored hours on the first RDR, so reckon it will similarly take me at least a month just to do everything the SP has to offer on this one too, as I'm always distracted by exploration and side stuff pretty much as soon as a game lets me be! RDR2 has been my most anticipated game of 2018, which is saying something, as it's had some very strong competition!
I would rate this (not an)AC game as deserving of an "excellent" score, but wouldn't go so far as to put it forward as a GOTY contender given the high level of competition it's already had this year from GoW (my personal GOTY thus far), S-M, and imo DQXI, not to mention RDR2 (provided it's as epic as I'm expecting it to be! Haha, it had better be!) I am absolutely loving this game though, and appreciate the added RPG elements and the return of naval combat (Black Flag and Rogue probably my favourites), but it's still formulaicly another Ubisoft game. @ShogunRok yes, absolutely!
Tbh I am happy with that list as I was expecting there to be more (and harder) online trophies in the initial list and these MP ones could tempt me to bother with MP if I can easily up my completion % online. Though I do firmly believe there ought to be separate platinums for really long SP campaigns like RDR and GTAV, because by golly we deserve some virtual recognition when we bother to 100% SP games that long!
I'm one of the 10% too, but the addition of the final two categories of street crimes really did my head in, and if I wasn't so diligent with my save files then I wouldn't have been able to unlock the spidey-suit trophy, as the game stopped awarding me challenge tokens after I completed the campaign! No idea why. I love that recent Sony first party games like S-M, GoW, and HorizonZD have had relatively easy platinums - presumably it's what's driving the high plat rate on this game, along with the fact that the gameplay is so fun. Uncharted 4 has such a low plat rate because it has difficulty related trophies and some MP ones too, which many likely don't bother with - I know I didn't!
Finished replaying the re-remaster of KH1 this week, so finally caved and ordered Dragon Quest XI ahead of plan, and have been playing (and massively loving!) that all weekend...my brother's visiting tomorrow for my birthday and he knows I want AC: Odyssey, so may have to take a short break for that. Hoping to plat both though, as I love a good jrpg grind (and AC has recently been leaving out the dreaded MP)!
Looking forward to this once they've all released and would so much rather play as Black Cat than as MJ - I tried to enjoy the forced stealth sections with her, but the only one I enjoyed was her final one. Admittedly they were important for the story, but just wished they were more fun, as I really enjoyed the bits as the other playable side character...probably just me being easily irritated though! @LaNooch1978 I really wanted that plat so pushed through, but man, those extra street crimes were a tedious grind! Haha, not grinded that much since optional post-game GoW stuff in April!
Whilst I do believe in innocent until proven guilty, the evidence and the level of detail presented in the Der Spiegel articles is compelling and really do paint quite a damning picture, so I would be very concerned if I were EA, or indeed Juve or any of Ronaldo's sponsors! If the game company in question wasn't EA then I would feel rather sorry for them at the mo as this is looking like a soon to be PR disaster...which for once isn't of their making! 😉
The guy's a great author - I started reading them after getting massively sucked into Witcher 3 last year - but I read an interview with him and he makes it clear that he looks down on video games as a narrative artform, even though he claims not to even play them, which is probably why he went for the lump sum as he thought it would fail as a game series. I respect him as an author, but he does come across as rather arrogant...I don't feel sorry for him.
Love Rockstar games and have this on preorder, but bit worried after reading this - I want a Western game in the vein of the first one but even better, not a real life simulator! Hopefully it isn't as tedious as it sounds and will be more like the building up of stats we had in GTAV, which worked fine.
Completely completed Spider-Man last night, so back to finishing off Horizon Zero Dawn and its expansion for the remainder of the weekend, though was very tempted to finally make a start on Persona 5 instead! This month's DQXI and Tomb Raider are both definite buys for me, but waiting till around Xmas to get the former and the Definitive Edition with the latter.
Arrived yesterday but only started playing it today - I'm even taking a week's break from the excellent Horizon Zero Dawn to play through Spider-Man, that's how excited I've been about its release, and so far it's not disappointed at all - so much fun webslinging endlessly!
Only received dispatch email from ShopTo this morning so was pleasantly shocked when my copy came with one o'clock post today. The few games I bother to preorder then I always use either shopto.net, base.com, or Smyths online as every time they've arrived a day early and the prices are almost always cheaper than Amazon UK, so can't recommend these vendors highly enough for preorders to anyone living in the UK! My first GoW and I'm beyond impressed with it so far 😀

I am absolutely loving this game though, and appreciate the added RPG elements and the return of naval combat (Black Flag and Rogue probably my favourites), but it's still formulaicly another Ubisoft game.
@ShogunRok yes, absolutely!
Re: Red Dead Redemption 2's PS4 Trophies Will Force You Online
Tbh I am happy with that list as I was expecting there to be more (and harder) online trophies in the initial list and these MP ones could tempt me to bother with MP if I can easily up my completion % online. Though I do firmly believe there ought to be separate platinums for really long SP campaigns like RDR and GTAV, because by golly we deserve some virtual recognition when we bother to 100% SP games that long!
Re: Spider-Man PS4's Platinum Completion Rate Is Insane
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 240
Re: Spider-Man PS4 DLC to Give Fans Something Fresh
Looking forward to this once they've all released and would so much rather play as Black Cat than as MJ - I tried to enjoy the forced stealth sections with her, but the only one I enjoyed was her final one. Admittedly they were important for the story, but just wished they were more fun, as I really enjoyed the bits as the other playable side character...probably just me being easily irritated though!
@LaNooch1978 I really wanted that plat so pushed through, but man, those extra street crimes were a tedious grind! Haha, not grinded that much since optional post-game GoW stuff in April!
Re: EA Sports Closely Monitoring Cristiano Ronaldo Allegations
Whilst I do believe in innocent until proven guilty, the evidence and the level of detail presented in the Der Spiegel articles is compelling and really do paint quite a damning picture, so I would be very concerned if I were EA, or indeed Juve or any of Ronaldo's sponsors! If the game company in question wasn't EA then I would feel rather sorry for them at the mo as this is looking like a soon to be PR disaster...which for once isn't of their making! 😉
Re: The Witcher Author Demands $16 Million from CD Projekt Red
The guy's a great author - I started reading them after getting massively sucked into Witcher 3 last year - but I read an interview with him and he makes it clear that he looks down on video games as a narrative artform, even though he claims not to even play them, which is probably why he went for the lump sum as he thought it would fail as a game series. I respect him as an author, but he does come across as rather arrogant...I don't feel sorry for him.
Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Has Realistic Survival Mechanics like Eating, Sleeping, and Washing
Love Rockstar games and have this on preorder, but bit worried after reading this - I want a Western game in the vein of the first one but even better, not a real life simulator! Hopefully it isn't as tedious as it sounds and will be more like the building up of stats we had in GTAV, which worked fine.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 237
Re: Poll: Are You Buying Marvel's Spider-Man?
Arrived yesterday but only started playing it today - I'm even taking a week's break from the excellent Horizon Zero Dawn to play through Spider-Man, that's how excited I've been about its release, and so far it's not disappointed at all - so much fun webslinging endlessly!
Re: God of War Patch Makes Day One Alterations on PS4
Only received dispatch email from ShopTo this morning so was pleasantly shocked when my copy came with one o'clock post today. The few games I bother to preorder then I always use either shopto.net, base.com, or Smyths online as every time they've arrived a day early and the prices are almost always cheaper than Amazon UK, so can't recommend these vendors highly enough for preorders to anyone living in the UK! My first GoW and I'm beyond impressed with it so far 😀
