Re: Game of the Year 2018: #7 - Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

MistressTonberry

Skirmishes got annoying quickly, and it's not perfect, but apart from that then I thoroughly enjoyed my 100+ hours with this game back earlier this year! Would probably be #7 of 2018 for me too as I don't really do multiplayer games. I still get parts of the soundtrack stuck in my head at times, even though I haven't played it since May!

Re: Poll: What Games Do You Plan on Playing Over the Holidays?

MistressTonberry

Backlog all the way! Finished Detroit recently (loved it), along with some of the dlc from other big hitters of 2018, but probably gonna spend the remainder of the year (as well as all the way up to the KH3 release date) catching up on all the indie titles I've accumulated in the past couple of years 😀

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 251

MistressTonberry

It's a dlc and indie weekend for me - gonna play the SotTR Pillar dlc tomb, and the Spidey season pass dlc now that it in the sale, then I need to push through with a ton of indie titles which I've accrued in various sales and plus freebies throughout the year.

@ellsworth004 strangely enough I've had the FFXV chocobo theme stuck in my head on a loop this past week and I finished that game way back in January, so no idea why! 😄

Re: Talking Point: What Free January 2019 PS Plus Games Do You Want?

MistressTonberry

@ellsworth004 Thanks for the heads up! Been waiting for the complete edition to hit that equivalent pricepoint in the UK, but hasn't quite dropped that low yet. Think lowest I've seen it on PSN or physical is £23 around Black Friday period, which I think is roughly $28, but I've the biggest backlog so I don't mind waiting a while if it's not on plus soon.

Re: Final Marvel's Spider-Man DLC Gets New Trailer as it Swings onto PS4 Today

MistressTonberry

Will likely pick up the season pass now that it's £9.99 on PS store Jan sale and now that it's all been released...afterall, must get my trophy completion percentage on the game up again 😉 Even if the dlc didn't set the world on fire, it's the only new Spidey gameplay we're gonna get for at the very least the next 2yrs, while Insomniac works on the inevitable sequel (which I suspect is why these dlcs aren't that fleshed out).

Re: Talking Point: What Free January 2019 PS Plus Games Do You Want?

MistressTonberry

ME: Shadow of War would be my choice (now that it's been rebalanced in the summer update; also the dlc is on sale atm so would likely pick that up if main game was free on Plus). Hellblade would be another alternative I'd like. As for indie wants then I'd second Nex Machina, and add that Undertale, Celeste, Inside, Abzu, Edith Finch, and Owlboy are still at the top of my indie wishlist...though it'll probably end up being The Witness we get as I just picked that up in the sale yesterday! 😛

Re: Sony Releases Lemmings for Smartphones, and It's Stuffed with Microtransactions

MistressTonberry

Last time I played Lemmings I think was on the our old MS Dos computer when I was 7! No way would I want to tarnish my nostalgically wistful memories of that game by returning to it via a mobile version chock full of game enjoyment-breaking MTX! If it had an option to pay a reasonable one time fee for the game to play without MTX then I would likely get it, but that probably wouldn't be feasible as this incarnation of Lemmings has probably been entirely designed around the modern free to play mobile model, so it's a hard pass from me.

Re: Microtransactions Arrive in Red Dead Online, You Can Now Buy Gold Bars In-Game

MistressTonberry

Got done with the single player last month (which I really loved apart from the irksome realism stuff), and after reading about the deliberately unbalanced economy in the RDO beta, decided I wasn't touching the online component with a 50ft bargepole! I can do without the platinum on this occasion I reckon. I don't support MTX in single player games (except for when it's decent story dlc or dynamic themes), so certainly not gonna start now with a game mode which thinks it's ok to charge such exorbitant prices...obvs expected MTX in RDO, but these prices are just excessive and greed-driven, so it's not for me.

Re: Street Fighter V's In-Game Ads Are the Latest and Greatest Gaming Controversy

MistressTonberry

This reads like a bad April Fool's joke, but you just know that Capcom are testing the water with this to see what they can get away with putting into a full price game, likely with a view to selling more lucrative third party ads in the future, and if they do get away with it and it is financially lucrative for them then you can bet that the other AAA publishers will be jumping on that bandwagon and riding it all the way to moneyville, gradually making the ads more and more intrusive and immersion-breaking over time, just like how MTX got worse and worse until we ended up with glorified gambling in full price games!

Re: The Pillar Is the Second DLC Pack for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Coming Next Week

MistressTonberry

Picked up the Croft Edition along with Detroit in the PSN Christmas deals sale at the weekend and planning to start it this weekend (once I'm done with Detroit). Pretty sure I will like it though as I really enjoyed the previous two reboot TR games as well as all of the Uncharted series, which is similar type gameplay I think. This reboot series isn't ground-breaking by any means, but it's still a jolly good time, for me at least! I went for the Croft edition specifically because I enjoy the challenge tombs so much.

Re: Kingdom Hearts III's Opening Movie Is More Or Less Exactly What You'd Expect

MistressTonberry

Decent enough song until the awful Skrillex mixing stuff near the end which kinds of ruins it for me! Definitely keenly anticipating KH3 now - loved most of the Disney worlds so much, though replayed 1&2 recently after a decade and I can't put into words how much main villain annoyed me at the end of both games and couldn't help thinking that they should've been collecting brains instead of hearts!

Re: Jenny LeClue: Detectivu Solves a Case in 2019

MistressTonberry

@get2sammyb Haha, sorry for unnecessary message - I only realised why after I'd written my last comment that it's because it's a Nintendo video and they've somewhat of a rep for indiscriminate YT copyright claims, even when it's essentially free Switch advertising for them...maybe their algorithm detects embedding now too (not criticising btw - just think that's what it could be; might be wrong!).

Re: Jenny LeClue: Detectivu Solves a Case in 2019

MistressTonberry

Really optimistic for next year now after all the indie announcements of the past few days! 😀 Don't forget Super Meat Boy Forever in April mention too - trailer for that has me so hyped! Btw @get2sammyb the trailer on this link says it's been disabled by owner...guess it still works by clicking on the underlined bit though; my bad

Re: Yakuza Studio's Judge Eyes Renamed Judgment

MistressTonberry

English voice acting sounds great, but the disconnect with the Japanese lip sync would just be too offputting for me to play a Yakuza-style game this way, but if it has Japanese option too then this is a day one for me as this looks amazing!
Edit: Thanks @Orpheus79V 😀

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 249

MistressTonberry

Been dipping in and out of Hitman Season1 and Spyro Trilogy again today, but picked up Detroit and Tomb Raider Croft Edition in latest PSN sale (love me some extra challenge tombs, even if I'll have to come back to it mid next year for completion!), so will be starting on one of those two tomorrow. The race is on to get those two games done before the New Year, as 2018 has been the year where I've tried to avoid adding any big new games to my embarrassingly oversized backlog! 😉 ...will still have Hitman2 left, but waiting for complete edition on that anyway.

Re: EU PlayStation Store Christmas Sale Continues with Round Two on PS4

MistressTonberry

Detroit and Tomb Raider for me, as now I'm finally done with all my other major 2018 releases - except Spyro, but for me that's dip in, dip out when I want to nostalgically relax - then I wanna get both Detroit and Tomb Raider played before the year is out, and also I have the sudden urge to play the SoTTR this weekend...that mega-discounted Croft Edition is looking really enticing as a lover of the challenge tombs in previous games! Haha, can't wait any longer - I've rubbish impulse control!

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of The Game Awards 2018?

MistressTonberry

Was too tired to be staying up to watch in the UK, but caught up with who won what this morning in writing (except esports, which don't interest me), and watched all the reveals/trailers eagerly this afternoon. Disappointed that there was nothing on Death Stranding though, but The Outer Worlds reveal went some way to mitigate the disappointment of the former as that was the standout announcement for me....hope we get something substantial from Kojima at some point soon though!
Edit: was happy with many of the other reveals too though btw, as I'm planning on picking up several of those games too! 😀

Re: The Game Awards 2018: Sony Takes Home Four Gongs on the Night

MistressTonberry

So very happy for Cory Barlog and GoW team as that was definitely my GOTY (though closely followed by RDR2), Roger Clark did a stellar job portraying Arthur, and my brother just got Astrobot with his new VR kit, so I voted for that. Was especially pleased that Celeste and Overcooked 2 got recognition too. As for MH:W winning the RPG category though then I wasn't so impressed! Absolutely believe it deserved an award, but just not in that category - RPG should've gone to DQXI imo. We NEED separate RPG sub-categories I think. Feel bad for Spider-Man and Detroit though as they were great enough to deserve something too...I guess there were just too many good games this year (not that that is really possible from gamers' perspective lol).

Re: Rumour: Dragon Age 4 May Be Shown at The Game Awards, But It Won't Release for a Long Time

MistressTonberry

Love the Dragon Age series, but there's no way I'm letting myself get excited for a fourth installment this early! I'm a bit of a pessimist, so I'm not at all confident that BioWare will even be around for long after Anthem releases, because no matter how well that game sells, it is still sure to disappoint EA's shareholders and we all know the reputation EA has for shuttering previously great studios! Also, even if BioWare does survive, it's not the beloved BioWare of old, and Dragon Age 4 is bound to be chock full of predatory MTX. Would be happier with a Dragon Age Origins remaster announcement tbh.

Re: Site News: Push Square Readers Vote for Game of the Year

MistressTonberry

I thought RDR2 would be my GOTY for sure, but it couldn't take the crown from GoW for me due to all the irritating unnecessary survival mechanics/realism; still really loved the game and it's an easy #2 for me, but just felt it would've been way better without all the "realism".
Btw, thanks @KratosMD - love a good poll! 😀

Re: Social Media Scuttlebutt Says Microsoft Is Sniffing After Sony Studio

MistressTonberry

@InsertUsername That cancellation is still something I can't get my head around - could've been a great new IP for them, but the big exclusive Xbox gamers got instead ended up being Sea of Thieves...I just don't understand what those at the top of MS were thinking! I'm clearly no gaming expert, but it looks like they need better staff, at least on the company direction side of their gaming operation!

Re: Guide: Best Kids Games on PS4

MistressTonberry

@andreoni79 I totally forgot about that one, even though I spent most of May playing it! It's definitely the perfect introduction for children to JRPGs, especially because it doesn't have a long drawn out introduction like many other games in that category do. Also, I really love the scores of the NNK games - it's obvious that the composer is a fan of Bizet operas!

Re: Guide: Best Kids Games on PS4

MistressTonberry

Great list, but should probably be a top 30 one at least as the Kingdom Hearts collection massively deserves to be in the top ten! Also Hat in Time, Stardew Valley, and all of the Dragon Quest Western releases deserve a mention (I personally preferred DQ Builders to Minecraft as I could never really get on with the latter).
Edit: I appreciate the Swords of Ditto mention btw - that game deserves more love than it has so far received!

Re: Social Media Scuttlebutt Says Microsoft Is Sniffing After Sony Studio

MistressTonberry

@Neku Ah, that kind of explains to me what went wrong with the Xbox platform between the late 360 and Xbox One era - I actually didn't know the reason why Xbox had declined so much until I read your comment! I hope they can get it together for the next gen as I think having decent competition is good for PS - resurrecting Scalebound somehow would be a good start! Phil definitely needs to up his game a lot if he wants Xbox to get back on a level playing field with Sony again though.

Re: Social Media Scuttlebutt Says Microsoft Is Sniffing After Sony Studio

MistressTonberry

@Neku I wasn't criticising the MS of the early 2000s as I was a 360 gamer between the PS2 and PS4 eras and thought they had some great exclusives - I just think they've gone down hill massively since then with regards to their games side, and that Rare has been one of their casualties. Personally, I hope that MS do up their game next gen as that would keep Sony from getting arrogant again (just not with Insomniac!) As for the Kinect then I never liked it personally - I just really feel that Rare became a wasted studio once MS put them to work on Kinect-centric games, which they may have wanted to make at first because it was considered a big trend for a brief period, but probably not for quite so long a period of time, as I don't think they've ever really recovered from that!

Re: Guide: The Game Awards 2018 - Dates, Times, and What to Expect

MistressTonberry

Will probably watch the highlights the following day as it starts way too late for most UK (and European) viewers. Actually got around to voting this year too, so will be looking forward to this site's articles covering it on Friday! The games I've spent the most amount of time playing this year are probably RDR2, AC Odyssey, NNK2, and DQXI, but I voted for God of War in many categories as I feel that it deserves the win so much for the innovation of the series alone (not to mention all the other stuff it does so well, as well as the lack of MTX); I think GoW is my personal 2018 GOTY. I voted for Celeste in the social message(?) category as I think that game deserves much appreciation too.

Re: Social Media Scuttlebutt Says Microsoft Is Sniffing After Sony Studio

MistressTonberry

Any studio acquired by present day Microsoft seems destined to go the way of Rare I think, so it had better not be Insomniac they're acquiring! I'd be sad if they got Quantic Dream or Supermassive, as I've enjoyed some of their games (especially Until Dawn), but I wouldn't mind too much if it was Ready at Dawn that they're acquiring. Loved the Shaun of the Dead reference too btw - one of my favourite movie quotes of all time!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 248

MistressTonberry

Got back to AC Odyssey for the plat this past week, so now it's time to return to DQXI this weekend and try to do the same there! Will probably play some Spyro in between too.

@RogerRoger I still have angry dreams about those pesky egg thiefs - they used to annoy me so much when I played Spyro as a child back in the nineties! Lol.

Re: US PS Store Flash Sale Hopes to Bust Your Wallet This Weekend

MistressTonberry

I just purchased Crossing Souls and Hollow Knight from the last sale...thought the latter might prime me for when I eventually get around to playing Bloodborne, though that is probably wishful thinking! Lol. Will almost definitely pick up something from the new sale too, but likely not until the final day, as usual 😉

Re: PlayStation Plus December 2018 Games Announced

MistressTonberry

@TowaHerschel7 Personally I'd be really excited for SteinsGate IF it was the Vita version or crossbuy, but seems it's gonna be free for PS3 only - I enjoy visual novels, but not on a big screen, sitting up! Just feels so weird to me and most PS3 games don't have remote play option. Will probably pick it up on Vita when it's next on sale though

Re: PlayStation Plus December 2018 Games Announced

MistressTonberry

Very happy with all of these - especially Iconoclasts as I've been wanting that since it came out and had finally decided to get it in the current PSN sale by 30th once I was certain that it wasn't in December's Plus lineup 😉 Still, quite surprised it's in Plus line up though. All games I don't have for once lol.

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey's First DLC Episode Launches Next Week

MistressTonberry

Defo getting the SP as I love Odyssey and I read that AC3 and Liberation are included in it too when completed, and I really covet having all of the ACs since AC2 on my PS4 as well as my old 360. Gonna wait until all content has been released and reviewed before buying though.

@ellsworth004 Only just platinumed it myself too after returning to it this past weekend and so you know my total playtime was 115hrs (with a lot of side exploration and many errand quests/contracts most of which weren't necessary for the plat so I reckon is easily doable in well under 100hrs if you're a more focused gamer than myself, which wouldn't be hard lol). I spent a good 8hrs trying to figure out the final two locations I was missing for the Hermes' Homie trophy though, so be warned that this one can be frustrating as it's a known problem trophy for many, apparently because the tracking can be off at times according to Powerpyx.

Re: Rumour: Superman: World's Finest Listing Spotted - Is it Rocksteady's New Game?

MistressTonberry

Would love a Superman game, if Rocksteady could get it right, but I 'll take this rumour with a pinch of salt until it is announced, as I know "World's Finest" was the name of a comic book series, but nowadays it sounds more like a name that a supermarket would give to their fanciest and dearest range of food and less like a good video game name...makes me think of truffle risotto, quail egg fried rice, or other fancypantsy readymeals M&S Food might come up with! 😁

Re: Talking Point: What Free December 2018 PS Plus Games Do You Want?

MistressTonberry

Something I want that I don't already have for a change would be good - would love either Resi 7 or Injustice 2, though perhaps Dead Rising 4 would be a better fit for December as they always seem to be set in busy shopping malls! High quality indie titles like either Undertale, Inside, or Crossing Souls would also be welcome for me instead of AAA games too.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Decision to Skip E3 2019 Is Confounding, But One We Can't Judge Yet

MistressTonberry

Doesn't worry me - if I had to guess then I reckon it just means that Sony are planning to showcase their upcoming stuff at either PSX next year or another new Sony-centric conference. E3's become too commercialised and prone to leaks in recent years anyway, and it's not like Sony had a well-received conference this year...though tbf then that was their own fault! Also, at this point then l wouldn't be surprised if the PS5 came out sooner than many expected; I thought it would be an autumn 2020 affair, but suspecting now that it could be as early as end of 2019, so maybe they want their own Direct style conference dedicated to that...I guess all we can do is supposition at the mo though.

Re: Expensive, Early Access Releases Are Big Business for Publishers

MistressTonberry

I don't understand why people would want to obtain games much earlier than the rest of us, when even day one patches don't fix all the bugs on certain publishers' games! This becoming the next big monetisation trend won't affect me, as I don't do Twitter and already have a huge backlog of both old and recent releases to either start or 100℅, but I can see why it would really annoy those who are more active on social media and game streaming sites, as there would likely be spoilers everywhere if publishers take this to the extreme too, which they obviously will!
