Microsoft has announced its annual Xbox Games Showcase, which is the company's biggest livestream of the year, will take place on Sunday, 7th June 2026. As its games increasingly become third-party efforts with a PS5 version, you can expect to see many future PlayStation titles during the broadcast.
On the Xbox Wire website, Microsoft reveals that the show will have "first gameplay looks and huge news on upcoming titles from our first-party studios across the Xbox family, as well as our third-party partners around the globe – from the biggest franchises to soon-to-be indie darlings".
Directly following the livestream, there'll be a Direct all about Gears of War: E-Day. The prequel hasn't been confirmed for PS5 yet, but following the release of Gears of War: Reloaded last year, the new entry is expected to release on PS5.
The showcase will begin at the following times:
- North America: 10am PDT / 11am MDT / 12pm CDT / 1pm EDT
- UK/Ire: 6pm BST
- Europe: 7pm CEST / 8pm EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 2am (Mon) JST / 1am (Mon) AWST / 3am (Mon) AEST
In terms of Xbox titles already announced for PS5, the show will likely have news and updates on Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Fable. In addition to brand new announcements, the likes of Clockwork Revolution are yet to be confirmed for a PS5 release.
If the plan from Sony is the same as the past handful of years, then there'll be a substantial State of Play livestream in late May from PlayStation, a few weeks before this Xbox showcase. It's usually one of the brand's biggest livestreams with important updates from PlayStation Studios and third-party developers.

So looking forward to Gears of War: E-Day I have well over 2000 hours in Gears 5 alone, and probably something like 5000 hours across the entire franchise. Simply my favourite games...
Gears of War was the one Xbox franchise I felt I’d like, so I played through Reloaded in January and wasn’t that impressed tbh. In fairness, although it had a nice lick of paint it is essentially a 20 year old game , so I will give any subsequent Gears games that release on PlayStation a go… with lower expectations this time though.

It’ll be interesting to see if MS does cross-platform releases in the future with the new CEO. With the “This is an XBox” promotion being killed by the new head (and thank goodness, that was such a dumb thing), they might be rolling the cross-platform releases back as well. Maybe we won’t get E-Day for PS5 after all.

Very hyped for gears E-day very hopeful the campaign will be good and very much looking forward to the multiplayer and horde mode.
@psmr give the newer ones a chance if you can. Each of the original trilogy gets better with each release, and although 4 and 5 aren’t as groundbreaking they play really well compared to the original.
@ChopperCampbell yeah I will mate… and in fairness, I did enjoy the co-op playthrough of Gears more than my solo run, so it wasn’t all bad. The mp grind for the platinum nearly killed me though 😅
No interest in Gears, but hopefully Fable and Halo are ready to go this year. Hopefully it’s a solid showcase.
I hope they don't make the same tone deaf decision they made last year regarding having the "one more thing" announcement be yet another CoD game. If CoD is present it should be just a random trailer in the middle.
I hold out a bit of tentative hope that the new Fable will be great. I liked the original, but really didn’t care for any of the sequels. The new one looks to recapture most of the quirky charm that made the original so good. Having just rewatched the IT crowd again, I’m also quite looking forward to Moss being a part of the new game.

Nearly all of it in Horde, @Cherip-the-Ripper. I don't play any PvP games. I am currently Re-Up 57, and hoping to hit Re-Up 60 before E-Day comes out (I should do). The Re-Up 60 Achievement has only been unlocked by 0.11% of gamers...
Curious to see if fable gets delayed to 2027.
@psmr I've tried several times since 2006 to get into Gears on Xbox 360, Xbox one and now PS5. I couldn't get into it in 2006, 2015 & 2025. Just not for me unfortunately.

I'll do what I normally do and just watch the videos after for the games I'm interested in. Will be interesting to see if MS start backing away from multiplatform releases now. Or if they continue. I'm got GPU for another 2 years but I kind of want to pay and play Horizon 6 on the PS5 Pro because Horizon 5 looks and runs better on it. Haven't really used the series X in a long time and even the last 6 months was only turning it on to get the daily reward points but I've even stopped doing that.
Guess at this point I will just play 2&3 on Xenia.

This should be a pretty great showcase, even if the games weren’t coming to PlayStation. It’s weird, I’m primarily a PS and Nintendo guy, but I’ve been in an Xbox mood lately, particularly with their recent game pass additions. I think I’ll actually boot up my Series X and play there for a while. Plus, I’ve been wanting to jump back into the Division, and my friends all play it on the Xbox. And I’ve also been hankering for a replay of the Gears of War trilogy.
I’ve had an Xbox since the OG, except for this gen, but i’ve never been interested in the Gears and Halo franchises. I’ve only played Halo once, and only watched other people play Gears, and i respect them as great franchises, but somehow these games have never appealed to me 🤷🏻♂️
Will definitely be tuning into this.
@dskatter we all know that ain't happening. Microsoft won't allow money to slip away, they know PlayStation owners buy their games.
Say what you want about Xbox but I'm still glad they do an early June event every year without fail. Just something to be excited about like the old E3 days.

@Fiendish-Beaver with all the content releases it's easily one of the most underrated games to play with friends. An absolutely fantastic set of pve game modes
@dskatter If that happens then gamepass becomes unsustainable and will definitely be getting more price increases to cover the loss of playstation sales.
Oddly enough, @Cherip-the-Ripper, the chap I first ever played Horde with in Gears 2 (not including my youngest son) is currently going blind. E-Day may well be the first game that I do not play with him because he cannot play anything that is fast paced.
I met my mate online playing Gears of War 2, and am Godfather to his son. It's kind of sad to think that I won't be playing the next GoW with him. He's only 41 too...
I've made a group of friends playing Horde in GoW2 that I still play Gears 5 with today, @Kierant202. One of them we go through every GoW campaign once a year too. Thus far we have played Reloaded (because it had just come out), then Judgement, and back on Reloaded because we wanted to play them all in order.
Although it is not a co-op game, I do highly recommend Gears Tactics too. It's a really good game...
@Fiendish-Beaver gears tactics was one of my favourite games of it's type. Really nailed taking the best aspects of xcom and weaving it into gears. I wish it got more expansions and dlcs that change the game like xcom 2

Xbox is a third party now. Just like EA and Ubisoft. If they had showcases Pushsquare would also write articles about it.

@psmr 1,2, and 3, are pure BRO-SHOOTER through and through. Its a bummer you didn't enjoy it, second and third one continue the story and each outshines the previous. A rare case where the sequels do nothing but improve and grew the fan base further.
Most here might remember when Gears 3 came out (NO SPOILERS), it was a massive finale. Mad World song is synonymous with Gears 3 for many who were there that gen.
Gears 4 had returning characters, the new ones weren't as impactful really. You didn't become as attached to them as the previous ones. Now, with that being said, Gears 4 and 5, were technical showcases. Absolutely stunning as HDR was becoming standard and really brought the Sci-Fi world to life. Both 4 and 5 were developed with Dolby Labs, and Dolby Atmos was used from start to finish. Gears 5 and its "Hivebusters" DLC is hands down the best implementation I have ever seen Dolby Atmos ever in a video game. IGN did a special vid on it in 2021 I believe. Now I do have a 9.4.2 home theater with speakers installed in the ceiling, so the Atmos track was given the layout it needed to truly be experienced. However even on headphones, I still struggle to find a better implementation of Atmos anywhere.
Sorry for the long blog post lol. Anyways 1, 2, and 3 are to many of that gen, what Halo or Kingdom Hearts was to the gamers of the prior gen. I hope they do come over honestly, and I hope you give them a go and really have a blast with them.
The Atmos meta data through Sony Tempest engine would probably impress many, audiophile or not. One last tid bit, almost done lol, is that the games received full novels by the Author Karen Traviss. The books alone are incredible, and even non-gamers I know have loved them as much as I did. So there's always the books to enjoy if the games never click at all. Hope you give another try, or that the following entries click for you.

If it does come day and date, I'm all for that. I want the story and franchise to succeed. I enjoy the games, not the plastic box. So yeah, if it means success for the game/devs, then heck yes.

@UltimateOtaku91 Maybe. I think they can sustain it if they GUT the service imo. All of the ads mention "over 100 games" last count I did, its nearly 900 included. 600 for console, and 270 for PC. Then they include EA Play, Fortnite something, and Ubi+.
BG Essential basic tier, included 80 games.
They can keep costs down by gutting a ton of junk. I think PS Essential, and Gamepass Core really are the sweet spot.
I just don't need all of that, and cannot possible play/enjoy all of that.
@11001100110zero well as I say, while I didn’t enjoy it as much as I hoped I’ll still play the others if they come. I did have fun in co-op on whatever the hardest difficulty was.

For what it's worth my friend could see at birth as well but her sight gradually got worse to full blindness.
There's surprisingly still quite a few games she can play on xbox. I'm sure it's a case by case but it might get better for your mate man. Especially given that xbox is full on at working on their accessibility options.
Quite looking forward to getting to play horde again with her in E-Day when it releases.
