Regardless of your feelings on The Last of Us season 2, it seems Sony's cross-media approach is working nicely, as it's brought the game back to prominence.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered makes a return to the UK's physical top 10, coming in at number six — the highest it's been in a long time. Discounts in the Days of Play promotion certainly won't have hurt, either.
Elsewhere, a couple of new releases make a dent in the chart, with Elden Ring Nightreign debuting at number three and EA Sports F1 25 crossing the line in fifth.
Topping the chart is Hogwarts Legacy, swapping places with EA Sports FC 25. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 clings onto the top 10 in 10th place, and yes, GTA 5 is still charting, moving down to ninth.
Here's the latest top 10 in full (physical sales only).
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 31st May 2025
- Hogwarts Legacy
- EA Sports FC 25
- Elden Ring Nightreign
- Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate
- EA Sports F1 25
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Literally just started a playthrough of Part 2 Remastered about 30mins ago.
Deserved.
Those games are golden.
@SuperSilverback Its a great sequel to a great game, enjoy it man!
@Ilyn played it when it came out pal! Show just had me in the mood to replay it!
2 million sales during series 2’s airing I heard… not too shabby.
Seems about right. Also looks so fitting to see Hogwarts legacy at the top of the UK charts😂
I really want to see Sony releasing updated number of sales for 1st party stuff at the end of quarters. Nintendo does it and it's fun to check those out. I am really curious about SM2 number for example or Part II for that matter.
@Can-You-Believe-Sith what's the deal with Hogwarts...one would think it's the new FIFA or CoD these days, it keeps appearing on the charts.
Nice to see TLOU pt.II still raking in the cash, and it will probably continue to do so for the next decade. Must have made absolutely tons of profit by now. Was never remotely in doubt though.
I’ve never played the second game, so I won’t comment on it, but my biggest gaming hot take is that the first The Last of Us is the most overrated game of all time. I don’t expect many people to agree with me at all, so I’m fine if everybody just calls me crazy and moves on, haha.
@Fluberuper You probably played it too late, it hits different in 2013. 😆
I bought the upgrade along with Spider-Man and Days Gone upgrades to get some more Stars points and cash in on another $5 before Stars ends next month. Also told my girlfriend she has to watch me play both TLOU games since we finished season 2 over the weekend and season 3 is probably like two years away. She likes the show a lot so maybe she’ll like watching me play the games.
@CrispyMango92 drop it to the easiest difficulty and let her play with you! It's still tense and scary as all get out even on "story mode". It also makes the first game about 10 hours instead of 20 and the second game 20-25 instead of 35-40.
@Nyne11Tyme My girlfriend isn’t a gamer. The most she’s played on console is Animal Crossing. I tried playing Sackboy with her but she wasn’t into it. Also, anything horror is her mortal enemy. The stalkers in season 2 of TLOU made her cry every time they were on screen lmao. The rat king in live action is probably going to traumatize her.
People checking the game out for the first time or people trying to wash the bad taste out of their mouths by playing the superior version of the story? You decide!
@CrispyMango92 I get that lol. She does the non clicker/dark creepy sections (the "walking sim" parts) just to feel involved maybe? Just trying to find a way to help involve her beyond watching. Luckily, my wife gets into some ***** like this. She's still easily scared though lol. That first bloater scene in the basement in Pittsburgh was almost the end
I'm one of the culprits.
Hogwarts is one of my top 3 games this gen (I think its reallly that good), but is there a particular reason its back at No1? Maybe a very slow month otherwise and a good sale?
MK11 at number 4, with MK1 nowhere to be seen is pretty damning imo.
the series increased game sales by a massive amount..
I suppose that's why the big 3 are so hungry to turn more of their franchises into big TV shows and movies. It really does drive up interest in the old games.
This positive news gonna make some people angry, especially the ones who hate TloU 2 and claim the game is a flop commercially lol.
And with remastered version, total sales numbers for TloU 2 probably at 15 million copies right now.
Not surprised. It's effective enough, enough similarities/differences, many of us buy our different forms of media/versions of things.
Whatever percentage hadn't bought it. Those buying a new console for it, etc.
I don't care for the series at all but for those that do, by all means. I get the appeal, not for me though. Whether their first video game, other types they usually wouldn't or other factors sure by all means. People that don't look around at all or up who makes sense and just see what is appealing enough to them to be gripping.
I get why they want to, why not use other mediums to get audiences, to have some percentage experience it, the other to the PlayStation and so on to books, merch, etc. I get it for money or those wanting to experience enough of them or just 1 IP to make enough for them.
Doesn't change that many of us want a GAME we find appealing first and not what we have gotten.
@Fluberuper I agree, it is overrated. I get the appeal of the series, no interest in the slightest.
I think other horror or story telling does a better job but I don't care to be on the other side. Got plenty of other IPs, or other mediums to experience them/other IPs instead.
Love to see it. Masterpiece of a game, one that sticks with you far more than others. Even those who don't like it seem to have a strong opinion... that's great art.
@Rich33 Well there's more buzz about Harry Potter recently because of the TV show. They've been announcing cast members for a while and recently announced Harry, Ron and Hermione.
@Matroska
Good point, I hadn't thought of that - I think I was assuming that most of those interested in the series (at this point) would have been day 1 game purchasers, but any buzz around the franchise will be good for game sales.
