Sony has confirmed it is considering more PS5 console price increases and moving manufacturing of the system to the USA, as a result of tariffs implemented by president Donald Trump.
As part of its financial forecast for the coming fiscal year, Sony said it expects roughly 100 billion yen (~$680 million) in tariffs. To compensate, Sony CFO Lin Tao said that the company is considering "passing on" the impact those tariffs will have on its bottom line to the consumer. This is a consideration across the firm's entire line of products, and isn't limited to just the PS5.
Elsewhere, Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki said moving the manufacturing of PS5 consoles to the USA is a possibility. He said the system "can be produced locally", and it would be an "efficient strategy" to get around the brunt of Trump's tariffs.
Rather than the traditional price drops of past generations, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have instead seen their costs rise since 2020. Not even the first price increase of the last five years, the PS5 went up in cost last month across the UK, Europe, and Australia. The base PS5 Digital Edition went up by £40 in the UK and €50 in Europe. Sony has also hiked the price of its PS Plus subscription service in various territories over the past month.
Earlier today, Sony announced it has sold 77.7 million PS5 consoles since its launch in 2020, with 18.5 million units purchased in the last fiscal year, ending 31st March 2025. It's slightly behind PS4 when launch aligned, but software sales are on the up, and it expects first-party sales to increase.

It's amazing how much the US can ruin good things for the rest of the planet....
If PS5 is this expensive now, God knows how expensive the PS6 will be in a couple years
@BiosNova I really don't want to get political here, but it's also not fair to the US to not be able to negotiate with other countries.
@BiosNova the US is the most powerful economy in the world so it makes sense. Whenever something happens in the US it pretty much affects every country.
@Americansamurai1 Unfortunately yes when the US farts the rest of the world gets to smell it.
Let's not forget, Sony increased the price by £30 everywhere apart from the USA well before Johnny Fartpants got in power for the 2nd time.
@heavyartillery56 What does that even mean? They can negotiate with anyone they want, anytime they want. They decided to skip the negotiating and make up a fake formula to determine the “Reciprocal” Tariffs and take that as a starting point instead.
@heavyartillery56 of course they are allowed to negotiate with anyone they want. But that's not exactly what they did, they just slapped tariffs on the rest of the world and everyone has to feel the force of it until countries are able to negotiate deals after the damage has already been done.
@Jrs1 The US is also responsible for the tremendous past 80 years of global trade, development and relative to the past peace. So sometimes the farts smell nice.
I can’t wait to see the civil discourse of this particular article.
[pops popcorn]
FYI: I’m annoyed I had to pay an extra $5 for my Switch 2 Pro Controller.
@Kevw2006 @ChrisDeku You can't always achieve your goals through kindness. The US has been overly generous with European and Asian countries for decades and some members of NATO are still not paying 2% of GDP for defense.
Props Push for keeping the comment section open for this one
I'll go get my popcorn....
@GamingFan4Lyf Want to share? 😂
Just raise the prices of hardware and software in the US to what we already pay in the EU and UK, problem solved. We are already paying way more for our consoles and games.

@Oram77 I’m about to rent out a movie theater concession area so I can make enough for everyone!
@Nalim THIS... amazing that the only country not suffering through price hikes is the one causing the problem! Really annoying that we have to pay so much more for our electronics that Americans.
@Jrs1 I don't disagree
Makes me tempted to buy a Pro. Or even a second PS5 to resell in a few months to make a profit. 😅
I have a feeling this comment section will be locked due to political discourse. I look forward to reading the comments in an hour if it isn’t locked yet though!
For what it’s worth, these times will be predictive if there truly is a gaming industry crash impending. With raised prices, we’ll see how interested people really are toward games. I expect we’ll see some novel strategies in the next five years if the race to increase prices starts affecting the revenue of the publishers heavily.
@heavyartillery56 In what way are they overly generous? Having a trade deficit is not kindness. The whole tariff thing is a fake narrative created to make them look like the tough guys to their voters(generally poorly educated people without college degrees according to previous voting demographics)

Good luck to, sony.
Never bought "PS5" and "PS5 Pro" because of the extreme poor value offered.
Considering the fact we are at the gate of the PS6, good luck increasing already astronomical price of the (hardware wise) very weak PS5.
As a very happy owner of PS1 + PS3 Slim + PS4, I instantly hard passed PS5 on the announcement day. I was kind a hopeful for "PS5 Pro" but unreasonably greedy nature of sony killed the "PS5 Pro" for me, which is perfectly fine. Because, we are already at the verge of PS6.
I just can not be more happy that my total expenditure of PS5 era hardware + game = 0 (zero) penny.
Lets roll on to PS6...
Good riddance

@Weeze86 I probably wouldn’t even get a ps6 so early in the console generation.
Blaming Trump and tariffs seems like a blame game when inflation has been a major issue over the past 5 years. If anything prices for most things have gone down lately from where they were just a year ago. I think what's really happening is the cost of electronics is going up due to all the threats and instability where all the chips are being made.
So basically, they’re saying they’re considering to raise prices and perhaps moving manufacturing to offset the tariffs? Well, that’s about us transparent a large company can be nowadays, so fair enough. Didn’t really expect there not to be price increases anyway, but it would be a great marketing strategy if they can hold it out for a while.
@BiosNova This sounds like the kind of propaganda I was fed as a child. Then I matured and got away from it. Blaming a whole nation for 'ruining the planet' is wrong whatever way you cut it. Words like 'Americans' implies that every citizen of that nation are responsible when that's absolutely not true. I'm not agreeing with price hikes but the blame needs to be placed firmly on those in power. Not innocent people.
This site has American users too, statements like that do nothing but cause a fracture within communities. It pushes people to the side and creates a problem within that community where there wasn't one before.
A Trump related article with the comments left open?!
Never thought i’d see the day on PushSquare.
Been a great read so far, can’t wait for everyone to finish work in the UK and start adding to this 😂🍿
@ozkrmz
If you are not happy with PS5 / Pro, I really dont think you will be happy with PS6 at all (and I doubt that will be too soon).
The whole trend of this technology is towards smaller increases / higher cost - just take a look at PC part prices.
But there is always the option of PS5 Pro if this sees a fairly big price cut when PS6 is announced.
It sucks but they sorta have to. Businesses don’t generally do price forecasts 90 days at a time (profit forecasts yes). Meanwhile the trade war starts and stops at 90 day pauses and random fluctuations that don’t correct anything other than churn the s&p 500 and shake up supply chains because the trade war instigators don’t know what trade deficits or surpluses actually mean nor do they know whom tariffs directly impact. There is also a deep misunderstanding as to the state of manufacturing in the USA, how long it would take to attempt to get it to replace the cheap and ready labor elsewhere. And that doesn’t even factor in global inflation before all this was started. Companies are not gonna eat those profits margin loses. Not unless there is absolutely no choice. Individual consumers will have to decide what works with their budgets.
Blaming Trump Tariffs is mostly a convenient excuse just to chase more profit for most of these corporation's doing it.
Heck my local chippy left an apology latter on the wall to it's customers for the steep increase in the price of battered fish. Because, yeah you know the fish poked their head out of the water and told the fisherman "we're charging more to catch us because tariffs"
@heavyartillery56 the entire thing is political so, you should probably be prepared to get political?
I'm not sure what you mean about negotiation here, they can do this any time they want? Having a senile madman in power doesn't help things though.
Oh God, MORE price increases?! Like the prices aren't high enough as is?
And guess there will not be price decrease if Tariffs would return to Normal. Xbox raised prices just because, Sony will do the same. Blame tariffs and after all that they will have another excuse )
@GirlVersusGame I see what you're saying, but in this instance it is ok to use a general term, as Americans voted those people into power. I don't think you're entirely clear on what propaganda is.
@GADG3Tx87 You missed out the extra costs to the people who actually do the catching there my guy.
Tariffs just an excuse to rise prices
This tarriff madness was always going to lead to higher prices for american consumers - I just feel sorry for those Americans who didn't vote for Mr Orange who are now caught up in it all (both in terms of those price rises, and in terms of general world opinions).
Definitely dont think Sony should move anything to USA though - its the same as giving a child who throws a temper tantrum what they want - it may quieten the situation in the short term, but long term, its going to backfire spectacularly.
@Dimey exchange rates and value added taxes. Why is this so difficult to understand?
@Rich33 don’t feel sorry for us. 1/3 voted for Kamala Harris, 1/3 for the Cheeto con man, and 1/3 didn’t vote. I don’t know how to make Americans wake up, pay attention, and actually care about whats going on but. A depression or Great Recession would work.
Anyone willing to share some of their popcorn? I’ve ran out of popcorn sometime between the announcement of the Switch 2 price and doom the dark ages blank disc discourse. It been a great 2 months 🤣 🍿
@BiosNova People said the same thing to me about the current situation in Ukraine. I didn't vote for that. I get what you are saying but it's dangerous to lump everyone in like that. I've seen the results firsthand. And yes I absolutely know what propaganda is, I was raised by it. I should hate the West, I don't because I'm not an idiot and I can see the forest for the trees. People are people with individual choice, painting them all with one brush is ridiculous. Especially when you assume to know their choice without actually knowing.
Most of my friends are from the UK/USA and to see this kind of thing happening is like watching a car wreck in slow motion. People are pulling apart whole communities over the actions of someone else. This isn't productive, it only shifts the blame to a softer target. And right now that target is 'Americans'. The average American gamer is no different than you or I, they didn't want this either.
@heavyartillery56 Negotiating your prices upwards would have been a Simpsons joke once upon a time.
Now not only is it our reality but is apparantly worthy of praise. What a time to be alive.
@LifeGirl The prices might go up, but as long as others are paying more as well then it's a mute point. Go and have talks with the CCP and convince them to stop their 'cheap labor' practices if you think it's that easy.
@BiosNova Biden stopped being president in January.
@AgentGuapo “ A depression or Great Recession would work.”
Random TikTok video “Top 2025/26 modern depression era meal recipes”
@heavyartillery56 "I'm losing money but at least everyone else is too" is not the killer argument that you seem to think it is.
People saying that tariffs are a convenient excuse to raise prices clearly don’t understand economics.
If a “president” puts a blanket tariff of 30% on electronics imported from a country it makes that product 30% more expensive for consumers of the president’s country.
In order for the manufacturer of those electronics to continue selling in that president’s country to consumers and maintain their pre-tariff price point, they must sell their product at roughly 77% of their previous price point.
If said president’s country happens to account for a large proportion of total sales then it becomes important to try and avoid a significant price increase caused by tariffs in order to minimise the significant loss in sales.
To negate this cost or minimise it, prices can be increased in other non-tariff countries and the extra revenue then used to subsidise the losses incurred in said president’s country.
The company increases prices in other countries where tariffs do not exist by less than 30% in order to subsidise, spread and offset the cost of tariffs in said president’s country.

@GirlVersusGame Are you happy to state where you were actually raised with this propaganda?
@heavyartillery56 Lol. Not if I'm starting at 100 and the people making the decisions are at 1000 it isn't.
By your logic, by the time the people that we are trying to "punish" reach my starting level I'm going to be at -900.
This is part of the reason why I don't want a ps6 in 2027. We have barely started seeing proper PS5 only games and now the prices keep rising. Not exactly the environment for a new generation.
@LifeGirl Instead of arguing I will try to be as reasonable as possible:
Other countries have weaponized tariffs against the US for decades. Notable politicians from both US parties including Pelosi and Obama have complained about it for years. Trump is the only president in 30 years willing to say '***** it' and actually start fighting back. Which yes will increase prices and tank his approval ratings, but will ultimately end up good for the US even if it's a democrat in the white house to take the credit for it. US is 1/3rd of the global market and we have the strongest military and chain of alliances.
@Neither_scene It's easier to blame "greedy" corporations than admit one's politics are problematic.
@MamaSymphonia And the easiest thing is to not even pay attention to the global political and economic climate and never truly get to the bottom of the reason for why trade wars happen in the first place. If tariffs were so bad, why is every other country using them?
@BiosNova Moscow, and I left as soon as I could. First to the UK for schooling then to the USA for work. Now I'm back in the UK and getting on with life. I rarely ever go back home. The people I grew up around went even more hardcore into politics. My father was a diplomat who warned me multiple times that this very situation was coming, he never saw it play out in his time and I'm glad for that. He had the ability to make me see the truth (while putting his own life at risk) and still appearing to tow the party line. His job was hard, dangerous and all he wanted to do was create peace not conflict. I listened to every word he said, watched how he conducted himself on both sides and told myself I'd never be a pawn in someone else's politics.
This kind of polarization and discourse between communities is textbook. Destabilization only helps those who already have the power. It doesn't help communities. When people get fired up with 'it's this countries fault' you are just playing into their hands. They want that, it's a valuable tool. In the case of my home country it further expands the notion that 'well these people are your enemy because look what they are saying about us' it's very hard to vocalize. You have to live it to really understand and I wouldn't wish living it on anyone.
@heavyartillery56 this would be a valid point if it weren’t for the fact that trump’s proposed tariffs are blanket tariffs rather than targeted as used by other countries.
And, no it won’t be better in the long term. All that will happen is that prices will have risen universally across the board for consumers because you’re no longer allowing market forces to operate properly. Labor costs amongst others are significantly higher in the US so if you’re forced to consume domestically produced just because foreign import prices are taxed heavily you’ll just be paying more.
Trump stated that Europeans refuse to buy American cars because of tariffs - that’s false. We don’t buy your cars because they’re excessively large and completely impractical for the majority of European roads. Also, our fuel costs are considerably higher than the US so they’re also significantly more costly to run than other cars.
We don’t buy your beef in the uk because the majority of it is pumped full of growth hormones and we don’t buy your chickens because you wash them in baths of chlorine after they’ve been killed.
The quality of your product is the issue in many cases, not the tariffs.
@heavyartillery56 Tariffs aren't bad by themselves. They can be powerful and even surgical economic tools. But they're better used as a scalpel than a sledgehammer. All these whole cloth reciprocal tariffs will do is raise the price of everything, forever. Even if companies eventually shift production to the US to avoid them, the prices will stay up. And sure, that might make the trade deficit go down... yippee. I'm sure the average American cares more about that than being able to afford entertainment or even basic necessities... right?
Considering the USA is the biggest market it makes sense. Just dread how much prices will have to increase for everyone else to compensate.
@Neither_scene I would love to go more in depth arguing about tariffs, but these comments will get removed so there is no point. I will just say that the US will absolutely benefit the most from all of this because we hold all the cards. Europe shot itself in the foot by de funding their military since the cold war ended. They are B players. Germany is in recession ever since the war in Ukraine started and they are best of Europe.

Looks like I'm done with gaming in the foreseeable future until the Trumpanzee Troop Leader is out of office.
I'm content with sticking with my PS5 and working through PS5 and PS4 games for a long, long time.
@heavyartillery56 I have an economics degree, I absolutely understand the impact of tariffs and also the impact of blanket tariffs.
“Because we hold all the cards” - yeah, ok Donald.
@heavyartillery56 the USA milks every country on earth for their money what are you talking about lol. We all buy iPhones we all buy Nike we all drink Coca Cola we all buy Levi’s we all use google every computer uses Microsoft. And it’s time for other country’s to pay? Come on 😂. I love the states but you’ve made bare coin out of the UK

Ironically enough Trump wasn't in office when most price hikes happened yet people blame him.
However I do know that manufacturing waffles for x86 chips and GPU chips got hella expensive over the last decade. Expensive enough for Intel to stay on 14nm++++++++++++++² for almost 5 years due to the fact it was quite inexpensive for them to manufacture it.
ARM on the other hand became cheaper to manufacture and offers comparable performance, main reason why Apple was the first to migrate to ARM, they could maintain their performance and still have a profit when manufacturing their macbooks.
So, dare I say staying on x86 wasn't exactly the best move for both Sony and Microsoft?
@CielloArc Trump will get the blame because he is currently in office. It's just part of the job. And it's how it should be. After all you want the president for 4 years to try and fix problems not make excuses.
Also, video games are so complicated that reinventing the wheel for every platform is not sustainable unless you are a massive company.
Sony’s first-party line-up for the PS5 has been an increasing disappointment over the past five years, with too few new releases, too many remasters and failed live service experiments equating to a lacklustre 9th generation. PS5 sales are already declining, the hardware is nearly five years old now.
People vote what they ask for.its ridiculous.word up son
@heavyartillery56 Just wanted to reply to let you know I saw / read your comment. I don't agree but thought you should still know haha
@Jacko11 the day is still young , i can't see this staying open too long but they seem like they are on top of things atm. as for the pricing , i can't really see them raising the price of the ps5 this late into the generation , and not hold off for the ps6. i mean how many consoles are already over here in the states ready to be sold ? i'm sure theres at least enough for this year and maybe next year.
Well, it seems to be a de-facto consensus by main intenrnational players these days that we sacrifice part of economic effectiveness for political control.
I mean, the super-globalized economic model allows for production of the cheapest goods and services - under the condition that there are no political hurdles for functioning of the global market. To be fair, it's easier said than done, because humankind does not exactly have a good historical record of abandoning political tensions in the name of economic prosperity. There was certain hope in the 2000s- 2010s that Frencis Fukuyama might have been right and we had wintessed the end of classic history of black-based conflicts - but alas. We are back to - well, not exactly square one, but, say sqaure seven instead of square ten.
For exactly this reason electronics and games - super-globalized goods by the very nature of their production - have started going up in price. And will continue, because their production model for 20+ years was based on virtually hurdle-free global manufacturing scheme.
@heavyartillery56
But in this case it isn't even reinventing the wheel, its a thing that they do every 7~8 years. Even Microsoft leaked documents two years ago said that development on their next console was evaluating x86 vs ARM cost.
Also, compatibility layers are a thing now, and it has advanced to the point that even companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft, their Azure side of business, are swapping their x86 servers for ARM ones.
Ah, love the stench of politics permeating through everything, particularly rancid American politics.
Politics aside, if this is the state of play in the console market then I think unfortunately the Playstation will be my last.
I've said it in comments on other articles, the days of me having the time or inclination to sit down and dedicate a chunk of my life to the next 100 hour plus AAAA (🤨) blockbuster are long gone. And well given the fact that we seem fond of remastering anything and everything this gen, there just not much of the way of anything to really keep me hooked.
With the exception of a few, they no longer hold any interest for me. I find myself more drawn to smaller indie titles that tend to be more respectful of my time and diminishing attention span, or a good strategy game.
I actually play more on my PC now that I do on my PS5 and can see that trend continuing to be fair.
@heavyartillery56
I have seen you reference to military strength/spending etc many times now in this thread - why? Economics (which obviously affect our hobby) are not, and should never be about the military. (I dont disagree with the 2% GDP on defence, but its not really a matter for discussion here, and is not a counterpoint in a discussion about gaming).
These tarriffs, and the blanket way they were imposed, are not a good idea. In the short term they are leading (as per this article) to potential price rises in our hobby. And if you say that they're just being used as an excuse by corporations - even if this were true, they have still lead to price increases by giving such a good excuse.
Im going to try and not get further into the economics - but the general feeling towards the US as a trading partner long term is now (sadly) probably irrevocably damaged. Whatever happens in the short term, in the long term a lot of people and countries will likely move away from reliance on / partnering with America, and possibly move towards other countries. Oh it won't happen immediately, and there will be no 'big announcement' - it will happen behind the scenes, and steadily.
You also only need read a few articles on public opinion of American made goods over the last few months to see what is happening here - even though the tarriffs have made no difference whatsoever on the quality of said goods.
they put a 90 day pause on tariffs against china. trump has no leverage and is a bluffer. no, the real problem here is sony continues to subsidize the US market by price hiking everyone else around the world. increase pricing in america and that will balance the books...but that would be asking for too much.
@heavyartillery56 as an American, this is a very unreasonable take. The US is making horrendous decisions and if other countries don’t want to negotiate and just avoid business with them then that’s 100% their fault. Lack of accountability is annoying as all get out, whether from individuals or countries.
I'm glad I was an early buyer but I do plan on getting the PRO later this year and don't want to be priced out of it just because of Trump.
Hopefully Sony just pass on this cost to the American consumer and not the rest of the World.
@Dudditz09 same here. Bought a game on ps5 in a drunken stupor last night and went “well that was dumb, I should have done that on PC”. I want to love the ps5, I’ve been a fan since the ps3. But I’m not able to just ignore the issues with the ecosystem and the decisions making it problematic. I’ve got other responsibilities now and I don’t even have kids or a wife! Can’t imagine how little I’ll care when that happens!
@UltimateOtaku91 agreed. sony already increased the cost of ps5 hardware and ps+ to all territories except america so it is long overdue.
Removed - unconstructive
For once we early adopters got a good deal..
Amd surely this only really affects the USA so not sure why we'd care elsewhere. Maybe change your president if you don't like the 'can't compete, tax' policies
Not sure if this is tariff-related but, I renewed my monthly Premium this morning and it was $20.38. Normally I’d pay a flat $17.99. Now there’s tax? Doubly sucks as the price has increased and they’ve taken away the Stars rewards for the subscription.
@AhmadSumadi nah tariffs would only be physical goods i can't really see how a subscription price would change because of it.
@BiosNova Businesses absolutely should pass on these costs to the consumer - maybe those in America persistently brainwashed will eventually hurt enough to see the truth. It's even worse having to live here - a significant minority continue to vote for a cult that couldn't care less about them - unless they are extremely wealthy. I often wonder how the US and world at large would be doing if we'd had several decades of a Western European form of democratic socialism. Yes the economy wouldn't be as big but big doesn't mean strong and at least it would work for most people. The quality of life might even become closer to Europe/Canada/Australia.
@GirlVersusGame The U.S. is massive and extremely diverse, arguably more so than any other nation. But it’s easier to just say they ruin everything etc.
@GirlVersusGame exactly. We are all controlled by a ruling elite class under the veil of a perceived freedom. In the end we are all one and in unity is the only way we will ever enact positive change and push back against these clandestine overlords
🫶
@heavyartillery56 interesting how you mention Democrats taking credit. Statistics/metrics going back decades and decades prove (unless you subscribe to Fox News) that Republican administrations have primarily stagnated the economy and ballooned the budget deficit. Each Democratic administration has barely had time to fix before the next GOP assault on everyday Americans including those that vote for them. As much as I despise the white and wealthy disposition of this cult of Trump, I do understand the desire to improve so called fairness in international trade but things are moving far too quickly and will hurt/kill a lot of people all over the world. That makes this version of America First a truly dystopian and dangerous new territory. It's quite fitting that a lot of blame can be placed at the feet of an Australian media mogul and now a South African megalomaniac. The American dream. Power/wealth at the cost of a human soul.
Even IF one was to take at face value the supposed "solution" of magically scaling up production factories there, does little to address the current perception that strong selling ps5 regions ala the UK,EU or down under are seemingly subsidising the U.S. already on both hardware & ps plus pricing!
Not that it's limited to consoles...been seeing rumoured reports Nvidia are mooted to be the next big tech price increase for their already exorbitant GPU prices...& AMD's nominal pricing vs reality makes them just as bad!😕
@Rich33 I'd have to assume the multiple references to the military are simply an underscoring of the bullying tactics the orange one thinks he can employ on the rest of the world - and a frightening underscoring at that.
Oh boy, and so it begins 😮💨😮💨🙄🙄 I'm so glad I got my PS5 pro when I did 😰
When they say producing PS5s in the USA, is that an additional factory in the USA, or will that involve giving up on global factories elsewhere
If that latter, that's a slimy move.
It's unfortunate, but not surprising. Even without tariffs, probably would've been price increases since increasing costs in general mean it can't be kept the same forever.
@ThroughTheIris56 if it's the latter then that will seal the deal for me that the 5 will be my last PlayStation
The hard part about preparing and accounting for USA tariffs is that the percentage, import targets and affected countries change month to month. How do you account from China going up to 150% then back down to 30% in a month, with the possibility of it going back up in a 3 months? It's a constantly moving target
@AgentGuapo I understand taxes and exchange rates. accounting for those, Americans still get things much cheaper. how difficult is that to understand? patronising.
@KundaliniRising333 Ironically, on a topic so prone to getting the worst out of people, you post the first positive comment I have ever seen you post. And I totally agree with it! ✌🏼
I am surprised this was not locked down. But, I see a lot of 'glass houses' on here, people speaking ill of a country and president when their own politicians or countries have issues. I mean, inflation has been rampant across Europe long before Trump. So, if prices and inflation have been an issue, why didn't they solve it? Instead just blame Trump.
I come on this site for video game news and hate the results of these articles (although I think it is fine for PS to publish as it is relevant). But, when reading them in the past, I have not taken time to take shots at other countries (Example: how the EU unfairly sues and fines US companies almost exclusively (Apple, Epic, etc, while the US is not applying the same treatment to European companies.) So, I find it interesting that people get riled up when some of that same treatment is given back. And believe me, I am no Trump person. Plenty of Americans just got tired of footing the bill and it led to the election we had.
But, like a few have said, I blame no one on here, it is the politicians not getting it done. However, it would be nice not to have all this venom tossed at your country of origin on a video game site, but alas, that is the world we live in and less places to go without hearing it. At the end of the day, it is sad the hobby we all love is getting more expensive for everyone.
@LogicStrikesAgain ☮️
A couple things to consider;
First, there will be profiteering. This is a given.
Second, import taxes will naturally affect costs. Everyone already knows this. It's how taxes work.
The price hike is (probably) a combination of the two above. Arguments can be had over which is the more pressing. I'd argue import taxes, since they're universal and very difficult to unravel (I don't think just immediately dropping them will have any instant effect.)
@KundaliniRising333 OK what's happened to the real KundaliniRising333? Have the lizard people finally got him?
@Northern_munkey 🤣. Oh no broke batman is still laying dormant. I just know that the reality is we are being intentionally divided with nonsensical culture war distractions. The true only way to create a better standard of living for all forms of life on the planet is to unite as one and enact change outside the machine built with the direct explicit intention to keep us controlled, subservient, and distracted, while they extract.
I tried the go it alone strategy, and that only inconvenienced a few "lizard" masons and landed me in what I call the "men's retreat," around family members, in the process 🤣
@KundaliniRising333 🤣
@KundaliniRising333 Yup, total divide and conquer strategy to distract us and make us forget these invisible chains called modern capitalism. Don’t know if you’re into MBTI or anything, but you have a real INTP vibe going on there
@LogicStrikesAgain had never heard that personality trait described before. Just looked it up. The logician right?. I am pretty shocked at how well it describes much of my current manifestation. Pretty close with a healthy leaning toward mysticism/hermtic understandings of the universe.
@KundaliniRising333 "Pretty close with a healthy leaning toward mysticism/hermtic understandings of the universe." Really? I myself have a very eccletic collection of books upon the subject of mysticism including the history of the golden dawn and the o.t.o.
Yeah, the Logician. I had a feeling that might click with you. Been getting those vibes a while from your posts. INTPs like to question things, prone to systems thinking and pattern recognition. Also often into mysticism and the occult. There are a few others here similar, not INTP, but definitely intuitive types (MBTI jargon)
Intuitive types tend to think abstract and favor big picture thinking. They might be into unconventional and creative ideas in general, cause we tend to think outside of the box.
Before you think I’m some weirdo (I am). I’m also just very interested in psychology, especially personality theory. Member of a club that likes to talk things personality (including big five theory and MBTI) and other things from sociology, philosophy, economics, technology, science and everything in between and outside of it.
@Northern_munkey Actually I get N type vibes from you as well, maybe even INTP as well.
It’s not that I’m actively analysing you guys or anything, it’s just that my personality is prone to picking up ‘vibes’ from people, and apparently that doesn’t stop in an online environment lol.
But I’ll stop guessing there, because it’s all based on comments and vibes, so obviously prone to error.
But yeah if any of you are interested, there are many tests you can take. I’d recommend Truity.com as a starter, they kind of mix MBTI with the big five (personality assesment used in psychology)
@LogicStrikesAgain in my early teens I read the illuminatus trilogy more times than was probably healthy and it started me on a 30 year plus journey of self discovery and the very expensive and expansive collection of esoteric books. There is a lot we could discuss and an awful lot that we shouldn't discuss or bring attention to. I have encountered many people who claim to be adherents of thelema and they have always proven themselves to be charlatans and nothing more than grandiosing attention seekers.
@Northern_munkey Yeah well, that does kind of scream intuitive type. Intuitive types tend to be interested in esoteric books and search for abstract meaning. You seem to have abstract interests that are probably not mainstream and an interest into finding meaning in the metaphysical.
Not all intuitive types are the same, or high openness people, as they are describes in psychology. They can be found in many subcultures, whether they are in to art, technology, philosophy, mysticism or anything unconventional.
What they usually have in common is big picture thinking, imagination, and tend to think abstractly. Prone to search for “depth” or “intellectual complexity” and think about philosophical questions or search deeper meaning in the world around them instead of surface level things.
But yeah, I probably way off topic now. I get excited when talking psychology. End tangent.
@GirlVersusGame Eh you gotta take it with a grain of salt. I’m not offended when people say things like that about Americans because it doesn’t describe me at all. And a lot of Americans, like people from any country, do kinda suck.
@LogicStrikesAgain I always thought the Dutch were mainly Calvinistic but you are a conundrum.
@Northern_munkey Lol, maybe cause I like to see myself more as a citizen of the world, or more often an insignificant temporary awareness of the universe’s own consciousness 😉
Considering manufacturing consoles on the US but would the quality be on par still I wonder
@Northern_munkey @LogicStrikesAgain yes. Indeed! I have amassed a great deal of texts on the subject as well. Starting with the many similar operandi of those secret societies, and then I began focusing on the hermtic origins that influenced most of their doctrines. It was a rather abrupt inclination to delve further beyond the veil when I had an awakening moment of my own spurred on by a moment of intense suffering and emotional surrender. Changed my life and helped me understand a bit more of I Am, beyond the physical, and mind.
Interesting stuff to see that commonality in conjunction with loving a medium like gaming here in the physical sense based pleasure plane we inhabit while in these bodies. Being all manifestations of an interconnected whole, perhaps that explains it right there 🤣
@Porco the sad thing is Canada got a price increase and even so the US still escaped it. A price increase on the US will spike our prices even more, so it’s frustrating how when the US gets into hot water everyone else suffers.
@Nakatomi_Uk South Park did this dance two decades ago! The answer is no, doubtful. There aren’t many people who want to manufacture these things and there aren’t enough factories to keep up with demand as it is. There would need to be new buildings, new laws, etc to accommodate that kind of surge in domestic manufacturing. It’s not feasible in the short term. Long term, perhaps, but you’ll have a lot of pushback from people who don’t want huge factories popping up near them.
@LogicStrikesAgain @KundaliniRising333 I can relate to both of your mindsets to a certain degree but my particular leanings go beyond having simple "abstract interests."
@Northern_munkey Yeah, I didn’t mean to reduce your personality to just simply having abstract interests.
I just meant that ,as a personality profile, people higher in Openness tend to have abstract interests that are usually outside of the mainstream. It’s more about being drawn to unconventional ideas and perspectives, rather than just having quirky hobbies or something
@ChrisDeku u do understand that the United States didn't have tariffs on most trade partners before trump meanwhile they all had tarrifs on the United states the reciprocal is considered fair treatment hell Canada had over 100% tarrifs for milk Japan Over 400% on rice and this was varying for all of the countries trade partners
@Drago201 Nope, that's fake. The USA had lots of tariffs on countries all over the world. Both of those tariffs are fake too, those numbers only kicked in if overall quotas were exceeded and I know the Canadian one was never close to kicking in.
@Northern_munkey Interesting discussion I didn't expect to see in a games thread. I've never agreed with Thelemites slogan, personally as I think it's the wrong way around; "Will under love" is more apt for a brighter change. Perhaps this could be down to semantics, but if you aren't guided with your heart, then things tend to turn to chaos eventually.
@AtlasLivesAgain everything is open to interpretation.
Makes sense. Just make sure it's an increase restricted to the US only, let the people responsible for giving power to a complete clown pay for their error in judgement not the rest of us.
@BiosNova what about the first time they raised the price?
Dear friend @Rich33
Thank you.
I did not say "I'll buy the PS6 on the release date". In fact, I never buy any console or pc component on the release day. I always be patient and make timing for the good value. If it is next year on some holiday, so be it. What is the rush for me? Just like everybody else, I have quite a backlog with games. I can enjoy playing them along the way. No need to rush.
If sony, makes PS6 overpriced and keep it at the same level, than I'll glady hardpass it just like I instantly hardpassed PS5 when it was announced (Yes! Loong before the release date). Why should I waste my time and hard-earned money for diluted console? I am good with my pc, 4K odyssey oled, PS4, Xbox One S, Xbox 360 Halo Reach Limited Edition, PS3 Slim, Xbox, PS1...
