Toaplan’s catalogue of arcade shooters is largely legendary, with platforms like Evercade bringing them back into the limelight more recently.
Now the defunct developer’s portfolio will be able to reach even more players, courtesy of the Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol. 1 and Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol. 2.
Compiled by Clear River Games, with modern conveniences like Trophies and rewind, both bundles will launch on 14th August for PS5 and PS4. Here’s what they include:
Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol. 1
- Batsugun
- Dogyuun
- Fire Shark
- Fixeight
- Flying Shark
- Out Zone
- Tiger Heli
- Twin Cobra

Toaplan Arcade Collection Vol. 2
- Grind Stormer
- Hellfire
- Slap Fight
- Truxton
- Truxton II
- Twin Hawk
- Vimana
- Zero Wing
In addition to the aforementioned modern improvements, each game will also be highly customisable with dip switches, and there’ll be deeper accessibility options for those who find shmups too tough.
Physical editions of both collections will be available for the PS5, and you can get a taste of what to expect courtesy of the trailers embedded above.

I suddenly feel like I know less than I thought I did about games because I've never heard of any of those!
PS - But I know of the "All your base" quote so whichever game that is, I have heard of it and just forgot the name. Is it Zero wing?
I played a lot of Tiger Heli (NES) and a little Truxton (Mega Drive) back in the day but i dont even know most of the other names. Anyway, that's great to know these collections will be available to support preservation
@BecauseBecause It's Zero Wing, yeah!
My view on this is the same as the Atari Classics collection. It might make a good birthday present for your dad but modern gamers will not find much here.
Mark from Classic Game Room approved cause Truuuuxton!
@LifeGirl I’m the dad that will accept this gift willingly!
Never see the old animation games other than Dragons Lair or Space Ace anymore.
Worth it for Truxton, slap fight and tiger heli. Used up a lot of 10ps on those .
Someone give us Outrun on the PS5
C'MON KONAMI !!! I'm tired of waiting for Life Force (NES version) re-release...
I'm guessing this is different from the previous M2 Flying Shark compilation release?
Seeing Slap Fight on the list made me smile. I used to play that in the arcade all the time as a kid. Hope they kept the hidden level skip/power-up in the game that the arcade version had.
Speaking of Bday gifts for dads, mine was yesterday, so I will be waiting for my belated gift if anybody is willing to send one ^_^
@LifeGirl Father's Day is coming up, I'll take a copy of each.
Is the title of this article actually written poorly or am I missing an inside thing? 🤨
I still own Fire Shark, Grindstormer, Hellfire, Twin Cobta & Truxton on Genesis. All great shooters! And I WILL be picking up Tiger Heli for the Atari 7800 when that drops. Needless to say, I’m all in on these physical editions!! Day 1 😊
