Adding another The Sims 4 DLC, just to remove it and break any save games that've played it is an awful move.

@TheFakulty doubtful about a resistance remaster. Those 2 games only got added to the service 6 months ago. More likely that Sony saw no one was playing them so are taking them off. As being ps3 titles, they have to be streamed which uses up more of their resources for little pay off.

That's a bit much, almost all the PSVR2 games gone... I already own all of them, but still.

Why remove your own published games? Just screams of FOMO practices and is down right scummy.

It's still good value but at the same time the value is decreasing. Every month there's more games leaving the service than what's getting added and they have just raised the prices, so you're now paying more but for less content than before.

Im sure they'll also add more games than usual because of Days of Play. Or give us a bigger discount with Days of Play because less games in the service. Right, Sony ?

It's understandable that third party games will be removed after a while. First party should stay locked in the service. There's no excuse why old games like infamous are removed.

Smart action once again to time this right after all the news concerning the price increases. The value of the service has only been getting worse and worse after the tiers were introduced.

First-party titles shouldn’t leave the service. I own inFamous Second Son, so my focus will be on the Resistance games before they leave.

When they removed FFXIII, I assumed it was because of an incoming remaster. Sure is taking a long time.

@PloverNutter Sony is probably quite unhappy with the need for PS3 streaming due to the high costs, so this should really be the reason for removing the Resistance games.

I guess that Sony is currently working on a recompiling tool to run PS3 games natively on PS5. And this takes some time. Sony surely wants to get rid of PS3 server boards with their very special chips.

@Max_the_German but they're leaving a lot of ps3 games, like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, God of War: Ascension, etc.

Removing games from the Premium tier? Especially PS3 games which are available only in this tier? What's the use of having customers paying more for it then ?!?!?! It just makes NO SENSE.

Really odd seeing old first party games leave Plus. Full of hopium on this but if the two Resistance games leaving means we're getting a remaster trilogy id be pretty happy.

Weird they'll removing resistance after just adding it not to long ago, maybe make room on the PS3 sever blades for some new PS3 games. Infamous second son removal is also really weird unless they're about to announce a remaster of it lol.

I would not be removing PSVR2 games from the list if I were Sony, especially if they are trying to get people to buy the headset.*

Really sad to see the PSVR2 games leaving. And seems counter productive given it has to be an incentive for people to purchase the headset.

I highly doubt we've seen the last of a lot of these but it sure would be nice if there was proper PS3 emulation when they return.

Other than that, I'm usually more interested in what gets added next... But next month is looking way too freakin' busy to even care.

@naruball I know, and I guess that Sony picked the games with the highest playtimes. I haven’t played them, but the replay value for the games you mentioned could be quite limited.

They Might have something planned for the first party games that they are removing.

the only incentive Sony would have for removing these first party games is that remasters are coming soon. Resistance makes total sense (and is VERY welcome) but infamous seems odd. You would think SP is neck deep in hitting their deadline for Yotei, who at that studio has time to touch up Second Son? That studio is notorious for not letting other people work on their babies, so an external studio is out of the question

The fact remains that it has been YEARS since a game I was interested in came to PS Plus before I already played it. Sure, there are some indie or AA titles that may interest me if I try them out, but it's not worth nearly doubling my yearly cost over Essential. Especially when I already have a backlog of AAA titles.

Resistance and Infamous being removed is very interesting.

Ps plus extra is awful I see absolutely zero value in this at all must be the worst service going its getting worse constantly and gamepass keeps getting better like I've said before essential is great though

@tangyzesty agreed. There have been a few instances where the catalog allowed me to try a game long enough to determine if I liked it enough to buy it (I usually didn't) but on the whole Extra and Premium are just money sucking machines that rarely make sense for a hardcore gamer

But Forbidden West also left PS Plus for no apparent reason...

@PloverNutter I THOUGHT I remembered the titles not being there. So they added them fairly recently? They may have done it as a market test to see if people would play them at all! 6 months would have given them enough data to make an educated decision. Yes, it "costs" them to have the titles on the service, but those are also beloved PS3 games. The cost is worth it, if only to buttress the library and justify the Premium tier. I think if they're taking it down its a strong signal that we have remasters on the way.

@Godot25 Forbidden West is in the top tier of sales though, and they DEFINITELY put that on Extra earlier than I think they wanted to. I remember hearing that internal estimates were that they missed out on several hundred millions of dollars in sales with the decision to put it on Extra so quickly. It makes SOME sense that they back-pedaled with that one. With infamous and Resistance...those franchises are dead. There's no reason NOT to keep them on Plus. You're not losing any sales.

@bleeflooflah Yes, but removing FW from PS Plus after two years won't magically recoup that lost sales lol. So yes, maybe Sony put that game into subscription too soon. But since it was already there, removing it was strange decision.

But to me, the least I expect from Game Pass/PS Plus is once first-party game is there, it won't leave. Only exceptions are delisted games because of licenses (like GT Sport or Forza Horizon games)...

For everyone saying Resistance and InFamous remasters are incoming: they could be but them leaving Plus has nothing to do with it. TLoU PS4 is still on there even though the PS5 remake came out AND was also added to Plus. There’s also MediEvil PS1 original, PSP remake, and PS4 remake all on there together.

It is worth noting that Walkabout mini golf is increasing its price to $24.99 from May 1st reflecting the inclusion of dlc into the base game. Best to buy it before then if you are a fan.

@Godot25 YES! I absolutely agree with you there! Sony taking down ANY first party games (for any reason) is SO shady and crooked in my eyes. I remember they did the same thing to the original Spiderman right before the sequel came out. So greedy. I'll never forget that.

They really fumbled PS Plus as a whole, currently I’d say that not even the Essential tier is worth it, it’s just too expensive for what it is, and Extra/Premium are also way too expensive with such a high rotation of games as even the first-party games aren’t safe.

I could only recommend PS+ to someone who just got a PS5 and they’re finding out which games they like, otherwise for long term PS Users it makes less and less sense to pay for it by the month.

I'd like to pretend that I'm upset by the removal of Resistance 1 & 2, but frankly, streaming PS3 is so garbo for me, so I was realistically never going to play those. It's still weird, though! And Second Son being removed makes ZERO sense

1st on the agenda, reverse your STUPID decision to remove that content from the service.

I understand the differences with GamePass and PS Plus with Sony not wanting to do much of the day one stuff. But older first party games? Just does not make any sense why these have to leave. A lot of stuff leaves GP too of course, but at least there’s security knowing that all the first party games will remain.

It is a business after all. So I kinda understand why PSPlus and GP keep raising sub prices.

Why infamous and resistance?

Sony is working really hard on making PS Plus Extra/Premium a deal I can refuse.

No problem with a healthy turnover but why remove first party games? Seems daft and doesn’t happen on Gamepass except if a title is delisted (and with FH4 they even gave the game away if you’d bought extra content). That grumble aside, I’m still happy with the service for £10pm.

Not one to moan about games leaving in general but theres a massive piss take here. Firstly the increasingly limited notice. These games will have been on contracts theyve known theyre due to lapse the second they signed the deal so give us some proper notice so we can at least perhaps get 1 game done before its removed.

Gta leaving once again after a short stint so they can re-add it again and take it off once more before the end of the year. Can't wait for it to be the headline addition for August...

That's a huge blow for psvr2. That's most of the vr games. Whilst i dont own a psvr, i appreacited theyre at least trying to support it and for anybody on the fence or tempted, the extra library was a draw imo.

There's zero reason why infamous should be removed unless they're doing a re-master/re-release. And why are the resistance games being removed when they've not long been added?

They'll be 6 games to replace these.

You're either a casual gamer whose only interested in the 1 or 2 big titles like a COD or you purchase every single game that you are even slightly interested in for that to have a chance if being true. And if either of those are the case then that's on you for buying a subscription service that clearly isn't meant for somebody like you.

Yeah I'm really struggling to see any justification for removing first party titles, there is no positive here. Xbox does not remove titles like this and even when we get a remaster like Oblivion, they don't remove the original title.

This is pretty crappy no matter how you look at it, for the amount they charge, removing first party games is unjustifiable I feel.

@Medic_alert Oh well. I own them all on PC anyway. The PSVR2 ones I care about anyway saints and sinners 1 and 2 and Ghostbusters etc. And bought all the others. Hopefully they add some new ones I haven't bought.But I might cancel actually. Pointless at this point.

@Cikajovazmaj I only got it for bloodborne and a few others all being removed here. And the VR ones. But I own them on PC. So time to cancel my subscription I don't play online. Cheers Sony. Save me some money. I'll just buy bloodborne I bought the DLC anyway.

You say you dont want to play old games, that's fine but what are you doing subscribing to ps+ then? They've been very clear in stating that regular day 1 games are not in their plans and the bulk of their service will be older titles.

I just wonder what is actually going to be available on ps+ by the end of the year. They get titles but most titles only stay for 6 - 12 months and then they are permanently gone. Sony doesn't even want to keep there titles on ps+ it hard to see the value in ps+.

Didn't renew my ps plus when it expired last year in June. Now I just buy the games I want to play and don't miss it at all.

Also my life has got pretty busy outside of gaming so I also have less time to game
