Unsurprisingly, Final Fantasy 7 Remake's Future May Not Be PS5 Exclusive 1

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is, perhaps unsurprisingly, coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point in the future. Square Enix has reiterated its intention to bring the title to more platforms, so it’s not exactly a shock.

But it sounds like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which is currently only available on the PS5 and PC, will follow.

Speaking as part of Nintendo’s latest Creator’s Voice video, director Naoki Hamaguchi repeatedly referred to “the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series” rather than the individual Intergrade game that’s currently announced.

For example, he says he thinks the Switch 2 will “have enough power to run the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series”, a phrase he repeats several more times throughout the video.

It’ll be interesting to see whether the third and final game in the trilogy launches day-and-date on Nintendo’s console, or if it’ll be a timed exclusive to the PS5 again.

Square Enix seemed to indicate it was disappointed with the sales of Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which both launched as console exclusives. It prompted the company to announce it’ll “aggressively” pursue a multiformat strategy moving forwards.

However things shake out, though, there’s zero chance of the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy skipping the PS5, and that’s all that matters. If expanding to more systems helps make the franchise more successful, then that’s never a bad thing.
