@PuppetMaster @Nexozi no that's not at all true. I platinumed the first one and I am just commenting on not seeing the improvements I hoped they would make in a sequel . It's just an observation and that's exactly what a comment section is for: your opinions on the given subject matter
Just because something isn't parroting the echo chamber you desire to live in, doesn't mean it's negativity. It's just opinions and I hate to break it to you but every every time someone has a different opinion than you you get all upset because it's negative this world is going to provide you with many rude Awakenings...
I hate to break it to you all, but just because you guys don't like seeing it doesn't mean I'm going to stop. So perhaps rather than attack maybe just move on past it or offer insightful rebuttals ?..
@LogicStrikesAgain i hear what you're saying but I don't see the point in comparing them as greater or lesser at all when they're both just capitalizing on global economic Trend to price gouge.
Just two versions of scum either way you split it.
@Enuo what ever do you mean? Am I not Pushsquare's biggest echo chamber ray of sunshine?
The truth is, it's only seen as what you have described because the opinions differ from your own. I think that says a great deal more that a need for insightful reflection is in order rather than some anonymity protected personal attack on another...
@LogicStrikesAgain your not wrong, however I will be saying that because it will be too expensive for what it costs to make and what it offers, Plain and simple.
Not sure why you bring console war jargon into it though. Nor why anyone would condone or make excuses for a practice designed to take advantage of them.
It all Just looks so similar to Tsushima (a Ps4 game). I really hope this isn't another iterative Sony sequel completely ignoring the areas for improvement from he first.
Because adding weapons if the same Ubisoft enemy camp clearing repetition exists and a ridiculous 'flower trails boost your horse speed,' gimmick to traverse through an empty landscape peppered with mostly cosmetics as an impetus for exploration just ain't it for me.
Sony and Co have really fallen into this very safe samey sequel output that is really amounting to noticeable diminishing returns in terms of gameplay and wow factor. Here's hoping Yotei marks a new trend for the better.
Let's Be real here. Based on 5 years of trajectory, the ps6, detachable drive, weaker models, portable, whatever: it's all still going to be grossly overpriced in a time where real people are fighting the same price gouging in every aspect of life.
The cost of living is being artificially inflated to extremes that aren't even close to alignment with wage trends, production costs, or reality for that matter.
This console will just be another example of corporate psychopathy, and be insanely inferior in terms of performance capability compared to current mid spec pc builds. The truth is the cost to make these consoles is nowhere near what they are charging. It's all a lie and their profits and continued releasing of gimmick support and cosmetic altered hardware prove it.
I think if this console is any where near $700, many will just save for a pc build they can upgrade incrementaly and garner far more value and longevity not only in that modulaity, but also through a less monopolized software market that results in far cheaper games. Especially considering exclusivity this gen has really meant nothing in terms of Sony's suite of offerings, Or lack there of.
Across the games media landscape I keep reading variations of "this, this, this, and this are terrible,.... Buuuut it gets a bit better as you go... Sooooo,....... It's a masterpiece!"
This game is clearly not Masterpiece, but rose tinted goggles, and viral bandwagon herd mentality regarding this series will garner it reviews far higher than it deserves once again. It's almost as if everyone has some strange underlying fear to break from that herd and be honest.
The major criticisms with the game are not these patch improvements. You can't fix terrible world design, story and voice acting with the middling sales and reception this turd got.
@somnambulance awesome list. Did you try mondragora or blasphemous or dead cells at all. I know some have rogue elements but imo they are still extremely similiar in gameplay and world Design
I'm curious people that have played nine Sols and how they compare that to silksong. I got there's all this nostalgic Euphoria over Hollow Knight but a great many have come since that have done the same thing and better post hollow knight
I'm wondering if anyone after letting those Rose tinted goggles wear off a little bit, maybe can reflect and see if there's any ones that actually are better? I think nine sols and mandragora are the only ones i thought looked somewhat interesting that I didn't try.
I wonder what their expectations were though🤔, and how much they put into this coat of paint re, rerelease.
I say this because the one week later marketing for this game being blasted all over Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, etc is pretty insane. From my experience, this is often, But not always a sign of desperation where the game is not getting the initial sales they assumed. Whether justified or not.
@Ainu20 oh wait so you are trying to tell me not to share my opinion by countering with your opinion? 👍 One stating it's the greatest game you've ever played no less. I'd say we're both sharing extreme opinions....
@Jackthelad93 it's literally just online viral hype that the games media machine has fanned the flames of and just capitalized on for years.
it's nothing special especially with all the metroidvanias that have come out in the Last 5 Years this was just one of the early ones. That's about it. It does nothing different nor special, Aside from being appropriately priced.
This is all such *****. Should IO publish again? Absolutely not. How they saw this game and allowed it to ship in the state it was in is just insanity. They knew what they were doing. Trying to make a quick buck.
The damn IO ceo even walked on stage with build a rocket boy and hyped this unfinished garbage at a games show weeks before release.
Very unlike modern day Sony to have two showcases of any kind even a year apart, 6months apart or a mere month apart, let alone weeks. Wolverine may be ready to show, but I highly doubt we see it this month. Or even before yotei release for that matter.
Who knows though. Maybe they are finally starting to see the obvious decline in overall sentiment toward the gaming platform, and course correcting a little....
Certainly a better choice than phoebe Waller b, however she was terrible in x men so I dunno. Hopefully she can come off with the confidence and strength necessary.
I think Hitman doesn't actually really poorly with the sandbox style Mission structure there has to be some fluidity between each sandbox and in my opinion that's where the newer Hitman games really faltered. They felt like just a live service stealth simulator much like the mission simulators in metal Gear games in a convulated live service menu platform.
If they can use the bond IP and string it along more as like a continuous story with improved Hitman like stuff alongside some good old uncharted like action I think this has real potential. I'm really glad that IO is not just making another never-ending hitman slog. The sound and music are already on point.
I'm a huge bond fan, and hope it doesn't become too much of what bond isn't, as I felt the new Indy Jones game tried to do, and in my opinion ultimately failed in the gameplay department because of it.
The mimicry of genre specific run of the mill combat immediately makes this a wait for steep sale for me despite it being decent all around. It's a combat style I find pretty lame, as it's designed to feed into those jump scares and tension that feel entirely artificial.
This, dead space, resident evil, and the like. I get they appeal to many, however being handicapped into slow sluggish movement and combat through corridors and small rooms, always gives me this on rails, theme park shooting gallery combined with a haunted house vibe. For me these gimmicks come off as simplistic and relying on those handicaps exist merely to give the illusion that the game has tension and difficulty.
Tech hardware, and basically everything peddled to us, all decided to price gouge during covid. It was so successful that these scumbags do it whenever conditions arise that allow it. They never significantly go back down either nor do their balance sheets reflect anything other than record profits. Further reinforcing that truth that this has nothing to do with tariffs, supply chains, and all the other *****.
Sony has priced out their own growth, hoping instead to rake in short term gains from all the mindless brand allegiant drones that buy any piece of gaming hardware they put out. No matter how underperformant and overpriced it may turn out to be.
That being said, monster hunter wilds undelivering is due to them releasing an inferior, unfinished/unpolished product. However it doesn't change that the pricing is getting out of control.
@DennisReynolds last week the head of epic laid out a far more likely/plausible explanation as to why many ue5 games are releasing with problems. I'm the last person to take what an exec says without a grain of salt.
However the specific details he went in to make a ton of sense as to the real reason these problems are occurring, and even likely why Capcom puts out the same problematic titles with their own engine.
It's also important to get out of the echo chamber box and realize that this is an unreal engine 5 game that runs great and doesn't have to be downgraded to a blurry mess to do so. Coming from a very small tream for what this AA effort is no less.
So no it's never been a UE problem. It's a developmental one that plagues much of the AAA process...
The overall steallth/combat gameplay mechanics in mgs5 are awesome but the story and the open world design and unfinished nature of the game make it a slog just as boring as a ubisoft game very quickly.
It genuinely brings it down so much that despite the token love the games machine heaps on Kojima, it was just an okay game for me that got dull very early on
This one deserves more light shed on it so that's cool. It makes sense that Sony would market for this. They have largely ridden off the backs of third party releases this gen while they continue to make terrible decisions on the first party studio front.
Hopefully this one doesn't have the live service sandbox design, void of any real story that the modern hitman games did. I really bounced off that drivvle despite being a lover of stealth gameplay.
Awesome. I already was sure this was a gem in the making. Even the few less than stellar reviews are only so because they didn't like the design decisions(it's main unique draw) or combat.
100% getting this with note pad at the ready. Tired of the handholding in modern game design.
Definitely one hell of a value if you aren't burnt out on these games. Although most of them are far less than full retail AAA fare.
Even so 20 is still low with those considerations. So kudos for that. That will absolutely generate some sales for those they convert from the just mildly interested but had been leaning toward passing on it crowd.
Everyone gushing over silksong, yet I have zero interest after the first one and the long gap between where dozens of better ones have emerged. The first one was decent if not very samey environmentally and imo absolutely overhyped.
Cronos could be good as it looks promising , but if it emulates too much of re/dead space without improvements on that dated design I will probably pass.
Hell is Us is the one I'm most interested in for the true lack of handholding in exploration as well as the world building. Despite it's combat shortcomings I think this one could be a gem for those that enjoy those characteristics.
Lmfao. Pro tip: stop buying these cash grab collectors editions. They are worth nothing, and hell nowadays more often than not, you don't even get the game on disc.
No surprises here. I'll wait to play it on ps plus, as Ff16, which it is clearly emulating, was a major letdown personally and had far more of a budget to work with.
Thanks for putting impressions out despite Sony and the dev withholding the ability for early reviews due to its shortcomings...
Don't really love how they advertising for this game. I think a lot of people have hesitation and want more clarity on how the open world structure is more refined And diverse or not.
As all of these gameplay videos also highlight the fact that it's a lot of these enemy encampment clearings just like a the last one/Ubisoft game... The exact thing that grew quite stale toward the end.
The Gunplay does look cool but it's mostly anecdotal as it's just an alternative to using a bow. I will say that they set up these encounters where it looks very Dynamic and cool in terms of whoever is playing them using all the tools available.
Talk about red flag.... Lmfao just say you are holding back review code because you are worried they will hurt sales, as they will.
Don't act like performance has hurt the reviews from mainstream outlets as of late. Hell look at Pushs mgsd review or dozens of others in the last few years.
The hype over this game is so unreal to me. I played the first, almost 100% finished it and after playing dozens of metroidvania style games that have come out after it I'm so burnt out on these games. the first one did nothing especially new or special in comparison to the extremely saturated field this genre has become. Hollow knight had such samey environs due to the art style, that it got pretty boring to explore in the end.
It's a bummer Indies are worried about it but if these Indies are just another game in the same genre then I totally understand because this game is going to get so much hype and coverage simply because it's basically a meme now, that yeah those games will get lost in the shuffle.
This genre again is so saturated though that I don't think that Silk song is going to achieve the sales success that I'm sure they're hoping for. it will surely be applauded by the mainstream reviewers but yeah not so sure there isn't a lot of people very bored of this genre by now.
This is mostly a declaration that they haven't learned much from their failures not just in gaming, but their overall business decisions as a whole.
Milking old IPS as an avenue to incite revenue growth just isn't as lucrative. They need new IP that gains popularity in its dedicated medium first. Most don't want the milking and the rerelease of old content is even worse.
A recent example of just terrible decision making is kpop demon hunters. It broke Netflix records and continues to do so, and just had a limited theatrical run because of its massive success that is estimated to have made nearly 20 million in 2 days. Sony sold the entire ip/rights to it to Netflix for a mere 20 million. This is clearly a billion dollar property that they now have no means of reveling in its success as sequels and spinoff are fast tracked. Yet they overpaid for bungie by billions.
The fact that marathon and fairgames are still going forward, also delusional when we here the speech directly to shareholders citing quality over quantity... .that's an easy thing to say after investing in nearly a dozen and nearly all of them failing in one way or another.
The bottom line here is that Sony gained fame in gaming for a reason. Attempting to feed into the endless growth model at the expense of what made them great is just insanity. The live service should have been an additional avenue. Instead they forced their talent to waste years and millions chasing that model and thus their output overall and losses compounded. The endless growth model in itself is unsustainable. They can just continue to raise prices and release gimicry hardware to fuel the pursuit of the myth forever.
The same group of folks will defend Sony to their last breathe with cherry picked logic, but the truth is lots of diversity amongst games and other mediums can be achieved and profitable without having to blow 200 million to make them. So this idea that smaller and more focused additions to portfolios aren't selling as much isn't taking into account the profit margin that could be achieved with a smaller scope and thus smaller cost to produce.
It's pretty interesting to see Sony as a whole hasn't at the very least overcorrected to get their foundational output and decision making back on track.
Curiously, PSSR isn't really living up to its promise for most efforts thus far....
Glad I didnt buy into the pro hype and grab it. It's just never going to be massively better with that present cpu bottleneck nearly identical to the base model.
It's a surprise that you can't switch scalers away from PSSR on pro, nor have any graphic mode options on the pro version here. It's quite the letdown for those only having the pro option considering it runs worse than the base model version. Specially considering like it's easy to just blame Konami and unreal five here but also the in the credits you can see that Bluepoint had a hand in this as well.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Gears of War: Reloaded on PS5?
Super old game. No way I want To Play this in 2025 for that price. This should be $20usd max
Re: Early Lost Soul Aside PS5 Reviews Axed as 'Comprehensive' Day One Patch Is Announced
Talk about red flag....
Lmfao just say you are holding back review code because you are worried they will hurt sales, as they will.
Don't act like performance has hurt the reviews from mainstream outlets as of late. Hell look at Pushs mgsd review or dozens of others in the last few years.
Re: The Sheer Presence of Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Delaying PS5 Indie Games
Re: 'The Number of Live Service Games Is Not Important': PS5 Boss Gives Rare Insight into Strategy
Netflix though, is damn sure happy they haven't 🤣
Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta's Dismal PS5 Pro Support Could Use a Rethink
@get2sammyb fyi: it jumps out of the vrr window so much that vrr isn't really very effective on the base or Pro
Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (PS5) - The Best Version of an Undisputed Classic
Definitely waiting for a sale.
Re: Bungie Boss Pete Parsons Departs as Sony Starts to Take Control of Flagging Dev
@DennisReynolds monetarily though 🤣. 3.9 billion versus roughly 200 million for Concord...
