Re: PS5 Showpiece Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Jumps to the PC Dimension in July

JSnow2

PS Studios the last 12 months or so:
2 PS4/PS5 exclusives
6 PC Ports
Incoming (announced):
1 PS5 exclusive
1 PC port
3 live service (all PC day one)
I have zero regrets about getting PS5 day one because the other option has nothing, but I ate that "only possible with PS5 SSD" marketing stuff up and certainly don't feel like a first class citizen, especially compared to PS4.

Re: Rumour: Naughty Dog's Troubled The Last of Us Multiplayer PS5 Project Was Sniped by Bungie

JSnow2

I hope this knocks Sony in to re-evaluating this all out live service push, but as for this situation, I'm terrified of how much influence Bungie has gained in such a short time. I can't stress this enough, Destiny 2 is the most over monetized, FOMO using, engagement baiting game ever. Every corner of that game has a price tag on top of annual full price expansions.
Naughty Dog is one of Sony's crown jewels, the fact that they got their game shutdown by the new kids in town is just wild.

Re: Sony Significantly Scales Back Development of The Last of Us Multiplayer for PS5, Says Report

JSnow2

The live service push needs to be heavily scaled back right now. This is not what PlayStation is and everything that has happened over the past 48 hours has only cemented it. The GAAS market is cornered, locked down and not letting anyone in anyway. Enough of this crap.
Last of Us 3 needs to hit production immediately, no factions, no multiplayer, no service, let Naughty Dog COOK, having ND waste all of this time is an absolute flop from Ryan & Hulst.
DON'T FIX WHAT AIN'T BROKE.

Re: PlayStation Showcase Completely Divided Fan Opinion

JSnow2

We walked in with Final Fantasy XVI & Spider-Man 2 as our next big single player exclusives, which it should be pointed out, have been the backbone of PlayStation for decades, and we left the show with those two still being the only ones close.
It was extremely disappointing, and there seemed to be an eerie feeling where those crappy live service games could take the place of their other mid level exclusives (Demon's Souls, Ratchet, etc).
I'm here for the PS Studios story games. I don't care if its 50 Hour Ragnarok, 20 hour Rift Apart or 4 hour Astro's Playroom.

Re: Reaction: Sony's PS5, PC Live Service Strategy Won't Work If It's All Samey Shooters

JSnow2

Hulst is in over his head with this live service stuff. They're gonna trend chase to a bunch of flops, punish the people making them and alienate their core single player base all at the same time. This is a gigantic risk and they've done zero to calm any concerns.
The only one that you can have any hope for is Factions and that's only because of TLOU brand power, Naughty Dog hasn't made a multiplayer game since 2016 (UC4).
They even took the Jade Raymond bait, who's bounced from studio to studio and hasn't gotten a game out the door in over a decade.
I'd have less concern and not say as much about them trend chasing if they actually announced more single player story exclusives because at this point, they make it seem like the live service games are taking over.

Re: PS Showcase Demonstrated Sony's Efforts to Offer 'Best and Most Varied Catalog of Games', Jim Ryan Claims

JSnow2

The sad part is that Sony's varied catalog used to be something like Spider-Man, Ratchet, Medievil Remake, Last Guardian. Now its Spider-Man and live services, with Square Enix bailing them out with FF16 exclusive.
The industry just unfortunately caught up to them and they're chasing the trends. I still believe their service push is not going to end well, don't fix what ain't broke.

Re: Poll: Was This Sony's Best PlayStation Showcase Yet?

JSnow2

I give it an okay simply because I know Final Fantasy 16 & Spider-Man 2 will be bangers.
But that was not great, lots of mid level games, and I wonder how all of the people who said their live service mission wouldn't impact their output feel now, because that was a lot of live service and not a lot of single player, and the worst part, the service games didn't look very good either.

Re: PlayStation Showcase Finally Announced for 24th May

JSnow2

This feels like the ONE. No state of play, no PS4 mentioned, over an hour long. It's time to truly kick off the PS5 generation!
Zelda just sold 10 Million copies in 3 days, seems like the perfect time to announce some single player exclusive bangers.

Re: Rumour: PS Showcase Could Be Around Two Weeks Away

JSnow2

I think there's a showcase coming but I'm still not buying the May month. Sony loves to bury everyone with the exclusive megatons, going first does not seem like something they would do. Unless they're in direct partnership with Keighley's Summer Game Fest (June 8-10), I'm guessing they go AFTER everyone on Thursday June 15th.

Re: Microsoft Dealt Major Blow as UK Blocks Activision Buyout

JSnow2

Common Jim Ryan W. The right decision. Microsoft getting even more control of the industry is simply bad for everyone, without even getting in to how terribly they already manage their games.
I'm just happy knowing someone saw through Phil Spencer and Microsoft's underdog, unity, hero garbage they've been spewing out to "charm" everyone for the past few years.
Looks like its time for big bad Microsoft to open up their pockets, pump up the 47 studios they already own, start producing good exclusives and get in the fight if they want to compete with Sony & Nintendo. The buy everything and everyone strategy has been shut down.

Re: Destiny 3 Begins Trending on Twitter As Fans Are Fed Up with Current Game

JSnow2

A Destiny 3 would be irrelevant without abandoning old gen and having a new engine, something Bungie refuses to do, they've been band aiding a Halo Reach engine since 2014!
The game has been a disaster since it went "free 2 play" (with full price expansions every year), Witch Queen was a nice comeback but they went right back to all of the crap right after it. The reality is that they can pump out one big AAA level expansion every 2 years or so and everything else is usually reskins and filler that grind you for engagement. I don't deny their success, I just personally don't find it fun anymore.

Re: Consumer Spending Growth on Subscriptions Like PS Plus Is Slowing

JSnow2

Wait, are you telling me that Jim Ryan was again right about something else? It's almost like he's been involved with a company that has sustained success for 20+ years by sticking to what made them successful.
Maybe we should stop listening to the other guy just because he wears gaming shirts and Twitter likes him, because if you really pay attention to what he says, he has no idea what the heck he's talking about.

Re: American Senators Continue to Target Sony Over PS5, PS4 Timed Exclusives

JSnow2

Microsoft is a garbage corporation finally showing their true colors. Little rich boy throwing a tantrum because they can't buy relevancy in this industry. These are scare tactics to get their deal through that they can use due to how corrupt politics are, nothing more, nothing less.
The Xbox brand as a whole is stagnating fast, Game Pass will never breakthrough beyond its little bubble, they destroyed all of their worthy IP, they can buy whatever they want, it will not save them from irrelevancy. They have been a stain on gaming for over a decade now and its only getting dirtier.
I hope they keep poking the Japanese bear, we need Sony, Square Enix, etc united against these corrupt losers even more than they already are.

Re: Suicide Squad PS5 Game Delay Now Official, Out in February 2024

JSnow2

The delay is smart because with Ragnarok still hanging around, RE4, Jedi Fallen Survivor, Tears of the Kingdom & Final Fantasy 16 all hitting in this half year, these crappy service skinner games deservedly get torn to shreds even harder.
Will it change anything? Doubtful, they're just praying the release schedule is a little lighter early next year! Good luck!

Re: Soapbox: Watch Another 20 Minutes of Final Fantasy 16? You Must Be Mad

JSnow2

I said in another article that I probably won't watch but I'm sure I will lol. I just think they aren't spreading it out enough, still 2 months before launch and now its the same day as Zelda TOTK's final trailer.
I want the game to be a huge success, I really like what they're saying about it, plus they seem super confident in it and it seems like its gonna be a true AAA exclusive banger we're looking for!

Re: State of Play Showcase Set for Thursday, Final Fantasy 16 the Focus

JSnow2

@XenonKnight the showcase? I would guess a few reasons, don't overshadow exclusive FF16, stay out of Zelda Tears of the Kingdoms way, and mid Summer is usually when the big shows happen.
There's also a fair chance FF7 Rebirth is part whatever big event they might do so they're gonna have a lot of FF to showcase.

Re: State of Play Showcase Set for Thursday, Final Fantasy 16 the Focus

JSnow2

They've already sold me on this, I'm pre ordered up and everything, might actually not watch much of it just to not see anymore.
I find the timing curious, 2 months away to do a big blowout on the game is a little early, or is it because they finally have a showcase in June and want to get this done before anything overshadows it!

Re: Resident Evil 4 Fans Aren't Exactly Thrilled with Microtransactions on PS5, PS4

JSnow2

The "don't like them, don't buy them" attitude is exactly how the industry got to where its at with all of the skin and live service crap!
But this is just classic Capcom garbage after they drop a banger to satisfy the suits, anyone buying this stuff is silly and I'm not really sure anyone actually IS buying this crap.
This does seem to be way more aggressive than the other stuff they've done though, which always something to be mindful of. These companies can go from hero to villain fast.

Re: Sony Claps Back at UK Regulator's 'Irrational' Reversal on Microsoft Activision Deal

JSnow2

Don't get me wrong, I think Sony is actually right in the responses they're putting out and I hope that deal gets torn to shreds, plus simply letting Microsoft buy up the industry and justifying it by using their own failures as ammo is a complete joke.
I'm just not sure what Jim Ryan and Sony are going for at this point, it's clearly a rigged game for Microsoft and all they have to do is the only thing their good at, keep tossing up $$$ until they get their way.
