I don't mind the rumor articles at all, it's interesting to see reactions and talk about.
With that being said, they need to deliver WAY more PS5 ONLY exclusives before we start seriously talking about a PS5 Pro.
If this ends up being true, they're basically saying the base PS5 was a cross gen transitional type of hardware? No way Uncle Jim Ryan!

These numbers are awful and there's no way they're actually happy with them.
Imagine a meeting with Jim Ryan: "we're gonna put our legendary acclaimed exclusives that usually debut with millions from our loyal console players, on PC and peak player count will be about 40K." Flop after flop, the PC community has rejected this whole PC push.

Well congrats to them. I will join the others heading back under a rock with Patrick Star and continue to enjoy God of War Ragnarok, which remains one of my favorite games of all time!

Shawn Layden was right. The ESA never listened and this is what it has come to.
Now we're stuck with Keighley but hopefully Sony and some others bring live events back at some point. I get the directs, state of plays, etc but nothing beats those big events!

Sackboy is nice! Pretty crazy how fast these games' value drop if they hit PC!

The key here is hosting their own event at the same time, that's a direct middle finger to E3, ESA & ReedPop. It's sad E3 is going down but I'm just happy we all got to enjoy so many of them.
I really hope Sony does a live event again, just watch the God of War E3 2016 reveal, THAT is what these events are made for!

I have zero problem with exclusives, it's the PR unity garbage Phil Spencer and Microsoft put out that is awful.
The truth: Microsoft tried to say exclusives don't matter, they failed. Sony & Nintendo destroyed them by having excellent first party output, Microsoft couldn't match it, so now they're buying up the industry to secure exclusives.

Legendary platformer Crash Bandicoot, well known for single player fun, returns with a multiplayer only game headlined by a battle pass! Gaming never fails!

That's what I was thinking. Part II is a massive game, could easily get 3 seasons out of it and then Part III could theoretically be out by then so they could continue even further. Fun stuff!

This dude Phil Spencer is such a phony gremlin. Xbox were the KINGS of timed exclusive deals when he was second in command, gradually lost all of them because of their own failures and then started playing the unity/underdog card as they lost so much ground no one would even give them deals anymore!
They want to let these cronies buy up the industry, fine, but enough of acting like this dude is a hero!

This info coming out is on Sony and they obviously knew this was coming.
I just don't understand the people who get so worked up about exclusives, what would gaming even be without them? I understand Microsoft has abandoned trying to make good exclusives and is simply trying to buy their place in the industry but without Sony & Nintendo's exclusives, gaming would be a live service joke!

Big single player exclusives = success. Phil Spencer can say whatever word poo he wants, they haven't delivered a legit AAA story driven "banger" in a decade and this is the result.

The amount of quality developers and great game ideas being dragged through the mud just to see if there's a Fortnite skinner type explosion out there is so sad!
The "live service" market is cornered, anyone still chasing it is after fool's gold!

Capgod just seems to be on another level right now. SF6 looks great, RE4 looks amazing!
Such a shame about Suicide Squad and everything going on there, looks like our next "live service" tragedy.

@get2sammyb agree! I'm guessing that rumor was fairly accurate, drop a State of Play soon to cover Burning Shores, Resident Evil 4 and other stuff for the next few months, then hopefully a bigger event planned around June.

We been knew...but it's still hilarious to see them finally admit it. Game Pass destroys software sales and they thought everyone was going to simply buy into the scheme of all games being unfinished multiplayer "live services" filled to the brim with microtransactions and ads..as they slowly got control of the industry and gained a monopoly. NOPE.
I'll gladly pay 70 bucks for games like Ragnarok, Rift Apart, Spidey 2, etc before I ever give in to the crap games industry Microsoft wants to make.

Exclusives sell everyone, COD sells the very casual gamer, which leads more people to the exclusives, Sony has been riding the prefect storm of both for awhile now.
I don't judge anyone for playing COD, I got away from it because they've stopped properly supporting the actual classic COD multiplayer in favor of Warzone.

Good. The amount of people throwing surface level stuff out like "Sony is crying", "Sony getting their way", etc, etc do not understand what this deal means. You do not want anyone, let alone Microsoft, who has been incompetent at making games & keeping franchises healthy for over a decade now, having that much control of the industry. Not to mention how they blatantly lied about Bethesda exclusivity.
I can't believe people are finally starting to see through Phil Spencer and crew's little fake hero act but it sure is happening at the right time.

Not sure the PS2 era of gaming will ever be beaten but this is well earned and well deserved. Incredible comeback after the Wii U. Nintendo's first party exclusive output has simply been fantastic, very curious how they handle the Switch successor!

But Twitter told me that Microsoft is a hero and Game Pass will rule over all!
Don't fix what ain't broke. Massive AAA - single player - story driven exclusives lead the way for Sony, while Microsoft has given up on making "bangers" and only cares about GP & "live services". It's that simple.
GAMES are all that matter. Keep making ones like Ragnarok, Rift Apart, etc and the arrow will only be pointing UP.

Between the new marketing stuff and getting rid of an incentive for early adopters, it feels like they're getting ready to finally make the "next gen" push.

Nice flip by Embracer, big flop by Square, who is dangerously close to becoming too reliant on just Final Fantasy.
Amazon is just going to be Microsoft 2.0, throwing lots of money at things does not guarantee a good product , especially in gaming.

Alright I give in after defending the need for E3 for so long, it's done. Very thankful for being able to experience "E3 week" many, many times, nothing beats the hype those live press conferences would bring. Good times!

When they announced the show, it was like "do I really want a TLOU show?". After two eps, the answer is YES. I'm all in.

My favorite part of this whole saga is that Microsoft essentially threw a tantrum and started buying up the industry because they couldn't keep up with Sony & Nintendo's console selling exclusives.
Now, apparently exclusives are bad unless Microsoft does them, which they will of course start pushing again if they get control the third of the industry they're trying to get.
Sony crying about COD $$$ aside, my be careful what you wish for is that Microsoft has shown complete incompetence with managing franchises, all they care about is "live services", and subscription services, Gamers™ are not going to like what's on the other side of this deal if it goes through.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, you're up! Seriously though, all these studios chasing "live services" is comical, the market is now cornered (Fortnite, GTA, COD, Apex, Destiny, Rocket League, Overwatch, Sports, MMOs, etc, etc), we even saw Halo & Battlefield exit the fight after titanic flops.
Invest in single player, story driven, optional co-op games, not hollowed out skin selling schemes!

Ubisoft getting eaten alive by the game industry they tried to push for. They used to make some really cool games and then went all in on "live service" shared world crap, all of the games become eerily similar and just plain boring with zero creative heart. Sad.

I respect the hope, I guess I'm just more jaded with gaming at this point, especially with how Sony handled 2022. I want an event, I need the energy back.
I'm at least expecting a better core of games for 2023 with Spidey 2, RE4 Remake, FF16 & Tears of the Kingdom.
The thing killing me is how hard multiplayer has stagnated, we need something new!

Phil Spencer's little PR games finally flopped. This is bad for the industry and the right decision. Jim Ryan was actually right in his crusade.

I'm a bit of an outlier with Days Gone, I absolutely loved it and really thought they had something great, but yeah the article nails it, just close social media and take a breather instead of posting that stuff.

As everyone with a pulse predicted. Microsoft had nothing besides an unfinished, beaten and broken down Halo game for the past two years, might as well take the PR win.
Now that they have anything close? "Oh yeah $70 for us too, sorry broz, 'member Sony still bad, exclusives bad, even bigger megacorp your friend!"

Two straight flops. No way that little influx of cash is worth it.

The PC ports are still mindboggling from a long term business view. Absolutely devaluing their brand, reason to buy consoles, taking the allure away from their games, etc just for some scraps from PC players. PC players show loyalty to no one and that's not an insult, just the truth. This should be a wake up call.

It just feels like everything with PlayStation console gaming costs is getting wild. Everyone hit their peaks in 2020 and now anyone who stuck around is trying to be squeezed to keep those numbers afloat.

Microsoft winning this PR battle should be studied. How they have made themselves, a TRILLION dollar juggernaut, the underdog feel good story is a masterclass. Why would SONY want to give Microsoft more market share by using their PLAYSTATION player base? It would be letting the devil in your kitchen.
The "unity" thing from gamers has gotten weird, just say you like Game Pass and want Microsoft to gobble everything up because you think there's a fairly tale deal where it costs $15 a month to play the entire industry.

Every 3 months the timeline gets shorter. Not too long ago it was 2 years. PlayStation exclusives are no longer a thing, they took the bait from Microsoft, any core gamer who cares about exclusives has already figured this out. Sick of the PR games from Ryan & Hulst.
Nintendo is the last one standing and currently has one of the most successful consoles ever, they know how valuable exclusives are.

PlayStation in 2022: Remasters, PC Ports, crying about COD. One thing noticeably absent: PS5 exclusives.
I don't know how anyone can be happy about this, they've abandoned the brand new console and are almost mocking console players to buy whatever they put out. This isn't arrogant PS3 Sony, this is a whole different beast.

I mean it's never good to lose access to games, but I can understand this. I just want to see them actually stick to it, all that big talk before PS5 came out and we haven't had a PS5 only game in over a year already, next up you'll have VR2 sales slow and all of a sudden it's "you can't play old VR games, but all of the new ones will be made for VR & VR2 lol!". Zero trust in their words at this point.

@Richnj that's nowhere near accurate. These deals happened after Sony mopped up Microsoft with multiple E3s and Activison jumped ship.
Sony doesn't want that deal to go through because Phil Spencer is like every other crony suit (including the ones at Sony) who is saying what needs to be said to get the deal through. Microsoft is gonna rip COD away from PlayStation so fast it's not even funny and anyone who thinks otherwise ain't paying attention.
