I hate to say it but some, if not most PC gamers have reacted insufferably to this report, they act like Sony is 100% dependent on PC and they are the ones that keep Sony and the whole industry afloat when they didn’t even bother to buy Sony games for half a decade now, or rather didn’t pay for them…
@Krlozgod As contradictory as it sounds both statements are true, the mere concept of Sony games being ported to PC does question many people’s decision to buy a PS console, perhaps driving them away from the platform altogether, however sales numbers on PC simply do not justify the potential lost revenue of some customer choosing the PC ecosystem (buying third-party games, MTX, subscriptions) instead of PlayStation’s.
I’ve had my differences with this site’s staff but I do agree with everything explained in this article, it’s the right move for the long-term health of the platform, Xbox is the clearest example how neglecting your own platform in the chase of revenue elsewhere can go terribly wrong.
Good, it’s ultimately great for the long term of the PlayStation platform, revenue from PC ports was minuscule and not worth the devaluation of the console in recent years as how many times have we read “you don’t need a console anymore” or “PS5 no games” trolling online?
@ECharles Remakes or remasters are actually a great way to bring a franchise back without a new entry as the story has concluded, many people assume all gamers were born at the exact same time and that’s just not true, there’s a huge collection of games that younger gamers simply don’t know of and remakes are a great way to revive a franchise (if done correctly) while at the same time leave the studio to create new IPs and franchises.
The most boring game I forced myself into finishing, literally the best part of this game was its ending, not even kidding, the ending felt like the whole game was getting started — after 30 hours of boredom lol
I’m not sure how to feel about this, I’d have rather seen it officially in action with gameplay than finding out through a leak and wondering how it could play…
So both Sony and FromSoft shut down every pitch Bluepoint came up with, this goes to show that Bluepoint was willing to keep making remakes against their own desires to make a new game just to keep having a job, with this news I hope people excusing and defending Sony shut up already and begin to see how shortsighted and terrible manager is Hermen Hulst, he needs to be out of PlayStation by yesterday.
Looks a bit like amateur cosplay but always the first-looks tend to look that way, so far casting seems great, however writing will be the major test since they have to provide more context of Kratos’ Greek past, otherwise his character wouldn’t make sense.
I played through the tutorial and 2 matches, while I actually like the unique artstyle and Bungie’s signature gunplay I found the gameplay loop a bit too slow and it quickly got boring since the very first match, plus the interface seems unnecessarily convoluted.
I think it had the potential to have a very interesting campaign for single-player content but they decided against it.
I’d say it’s very believable and perfectly understandable, sales of single-player games on PC have been nothing short of a disaster (even if Sony will never word it this way), revenue is minuscule compared to their console business, most games don’t even get to 10% of what they sold on PS5/PS4 while at the same time it is devaluing the console pitch with many people claiming you no longer need a console, or trolling with “PS5 no games”, exact same thing that started happening to Xbox all those years ago.
Now, if this is gonna be their strategy moving forward they should be crystal clear about it, in my opinion they should move away from timed exclusives entirely, launch it day one everywhere (specially for all those games as a service) or just keep it exclusive forever, we’ve seen how most games sell poorly on whatever platform it’s not released day one, I’d say the single success of this PC push so far was Helldivers 2, which was the first simultaneous launch on both PS5 and PC.
@twitchtvpat This is exactly why I mean, stop trying to find excuses for Sony, no Nixxes didn’t “replaced them” and it’s quite absurd to say that, if they wanted to retain all 70 Bluepoint employees they’d have said so and didn’t, some of you would really try to excuse and defend Sony even if they did some unthinkable sh*t such as closing a major studio.
@Questionable_Duck What? I’m not “blaming” fans at all, it’s 100% Sony mismanagement, what I’m saying is that fans shouldn’t try to find excuses for Sony or be telling other fans to “move on” as if we’re not allowed to question Sony’s mistakes…
Worst than claiming this is cover up conspiracy (which is ridiculous) is to say and keep repeating there’s no legitimate reason to be mad/frustrated at Sony for closing Bluepoint like I’ve been reading here since last Thursday, I personally haven’t “moved on” from the closure of Japan Studios and still feel its absence this generation.
I’m honestly so fed up with people excusing corporations rolling over the ground throwing tantrums claiming the baby corporation did nothing wrong, what’s gonna take for you to grow a spine and have a single critical thought? Closing Bend? Closing Santa Monica? Closing Naughty Dog? Even then I BET some would still try to spin it as a positive for the company, it’s getting exhausting.
I honestly feel this crossed a line, this is the clearest evidence so far of terrible decision making inside Sony/PlayStation and what’s worst is that the people responsible for those decisions still keep their jobs and we all know this isn’t the last studio they close nor the last game they cancel.
I’m just still baffled how neither Bluepoint or Sony could find a way forward after working together for decades meanwhile Concord was internally treated as “the next Star Wars” and became the laughing stock of the entire industry and Sony’s biggest flop ever, seriously how can Hulst still keep his job?
@themightyant So every PS Studio had the same idea 5-6 years ago about making live-service games? And Sony had nothing to do with pushing most if not all their studios to make those type of games?
Sorry but I don’t believe it, maybe that’s how it worked out in past generations but not since Jim Ryan/Hermen Hulst took over, and I’m not saying he came with a mandate to do live-service games but definitely “encouraged” studios in one way or another to prioritize that over single-player games, and for this situation I still have a hard time believing that Bluepoint had nothing to be passionate about hence why they’re being shut down, I also doubt that live-service God of War game was pitched by them, but we’ll find out in the upcoming weeks and months as more info comes out, looking forward to Jason Schreier’s expected behind the scenes report.
This is what so baffling about the closure, Sony could’ve easily assigned a expected remaster o remake to Bluepoint and profit from it, quite literally easy money, in fact I was convinced they were remaking the God of War trilogy as it made sense and timelines aligned, but that’s obviously not the case.
Hulst needs to go. That non-negotiable, however the damage is done and as I said yesterday this is a HUGE red flag to PlayStation’s future, the fact that the guy who took the decisions is still at the company and the entire team who only did what they were instructed to is gone speaks volumes, this opens the door to more studio closures, specially the ones without a huge franchise tied to it such as Bend or Media Molecule. It’s about to get much uglier.
Hermen Hulst needed to be outed alongside Jim Ryan, they’ve made generational damage to a brand that was arguably at its peak when they took over, now it’s by far the worst generation ever for PlayStation players.
Most people forget that 7/10 is still a good game, I almost bought it at launch but $30 just felt a bit too much and the art style pretty much deterred me from buying it, I’ll get it whenever it’s gets discounted on PSN.
@get2sammyb You are being very oblivious to 2 facts:
1) Whenever PS6 releases, optimization for PS5 stops being a priority, it’ll quickly become into a situation that “if you don’t want the game to look blurry or run at steady 60 FPS just get a PS6” instead of further optimizing for one platform, it already kinda is with PS5 Pro, specially for third-party games, I’d say that right now Switch 2 ports are demonstrating how important optimization is and how underutilized the PS5 has been for 5 years already.
2) No one is “forced” to buy new hardware, but we also don’t want to be pushed into it yet by making some games exclusives for PS6, which is bound to happen because otherwise why jump generations at all?
I love both gameplay styles, but the old one should be preserved as it was, also I’d argue the old one is currently a more unique style of gameplay compared to yet another over-the-shoulder action style game.
“I challenge you to dig out your crusty old PS4 and spend one full week with creaky 30fps games and glacial loading times.”
My man, since the PS5 came out I’ve easily spent entire MONTHS using only my PS3 enduring those “glacial loading times” and not even at a solid 30 FPS, 155 million people who got a Switch 1 also have no problem playing with not the greatest textures and performance, what an out of touch take, it seems you live in a bubble of your own making.
What I hate about early access is that it gives the perfect tool to engagement baiters as they post eye-catching footage of the game spoiling it for everyone else.
This is why always some people whine after every State of Play, they just have unrealistic expectations.
We don’t even know if that game exists, and if it does you really think Sony would release an entry for arguably their biggest franchise without any previous marketing push whatsoever? Again, unrealistic.
@nolifebr So it was a coincidence that ALL major studios started work on live-service games around the time Jim Ryan became CEO in 2018-2019?
Sorry but I don’t buy that every major studio at Sony has a cancelled or flopped live service project because the studios themselves decided to try and fail in doing games very different from their existing expertise.
Take TLOU Factions as an example, Naughty Dog had developed several multiplayer projects before but they were expected to have a game with a roadmap for months, a battle pass and all of those live service BS, they just couldn’t deliver and in the process proved that studios can’t really be both, you either develop and maintain one live service game every decade or develop 3 brand new games, rather than launching a simple factions multiplayer mode as in the first game they canned the whole thing losing 4 years of active development.
I’m sure every studio has single-player and multiplayer ideas, but they were very clearly instructed which ideas to pursue or prioritize, it’s the same thing I’ve been saying since this live service push became public in 2021, all these resources, mainly time and money, were actively being taken away from the single-player projects, I remember right here in this site I was called a hater for saying that and people insisted that the live service push was completely independent from the single-player games output, and well, it’s obvious now that wasn’t the case, some people have been excusing this live service push for +5 years and still don’t want to admit it was a disastrous idea by Sony, because again, this push was made by Sony, not all studios collectively and coincidentally agreeing on making these games.
@ED_209 I disagree, Sony doesn’t need more studios, this is clearly still a consequence of Jim Ryan’s mandate for every first-party studio to develop live-service games, which might go down in history as the worst decision from PlayStation ever, it obliterated half the first-party games from this generation.
I can accept Microslop killing their own platform but slowly killing their studios with that 30% profit margin target that’s basically impossible to achieve it’s going to get much uglier pretty fast.
It was a monumental mistake not to film both seasons back to back or just have one long season to cover the whole of Part 2 story, the second season being bafflingly written plus that dumb unnecessary cliffhanger killed any momentum the series had.
Honestly it doesn’t look bad, this isn’t nowhere near as unappealing as Concord, however at $40 plus having to pay for PS+ it’s just to high of an entry barrier when lots of another options are readily available and free without mentioning MTX monetization that’s bound to happen sooner or later.
After Starfield I lost hope in Bethesda to deliver a truly great game, imo the last one was 15 years ago with Skyrim, Fallout 4 was the first misstep, 76 was a disaster but Starfield a HUGE disappointment.

Wait, so the only new game Naughty Dog has announced for this entire generation is already “off-track” and the best case scenario is for it to release 3 years after announcement? What a disgrace.
Gotta give it to Microsoft, they have a unique talent to ruin everything they touch, remember how Nokia seemed unstoppable? Microsoft stopped it. Now remember what everyone says about Call of Duty being too big to fail? Guess what, it’s failing…
