Re: TV Show Review: The Last of Us (HBO) Season 2 Episode 4 - The First Time the Show Surpasses the Game

IllusiveMan

What I’m liking from the show is that decisions seem more logical, in the game there’s lots of convenient plot points to keep the story going the way it’s supposed to go and it gets irritating from the very beginning.

That being said tho, having played the game several times I cant shake the feeling I’m watching a play, I’m not nearly as engaged with the story and characters as I was while playing the game.

Re: Returnal, One of This Gen's Best Games, Gets a Massive PS5 Pro Upgrade

IllusiveMan

@CJD87 It absolutely is the best game of this generation so far and it was criminal it wasn’t even in the 2021 GOTY discussion, haven’t seen a game that uses the PS5 triggers in such a natural way, also best haptics I’ve seen in a game period, gameplay is just f***ing fantastic and I’m definitely doing some runs today to test this upgrade.

Re: Massive PS Plus Clearout Announced for May, 22 Games Leaving

IllusiveMan

They really fumbled PS Plus as a whole, currently I’d say that not even the Essential tier is worth it, it’s just too expensive for what it is, and Extra/Premium are also way too expensive with such a high rotation of games as even the first-party games aren’t safe.

I could only recommend PS+ to someone who just got a PS5 and they’re finding out which games they like, otherwise for long term PS Users it makes less and less sense to pay for it by the month.

Re: PS Plus Price Increase Hits Another Country, Canada Forced to Pay More

IllusiveMan

@MrPeanutbutterz On paper it is, however you can get codes from many sites online that turn out much, much cheaper, and if you take advantage of some conversions you can easily get a year of Ultimate for even less than PS Plus Essential.

And to be clear, I’m not comparing services, I’m saying that if Sony would still allow selling codes as they did in the PS4 generation we could still get it for cheaper, but they essentially monopolized their digital store and subscriptions, they’re even being sued for this and I hope eventually they’re forced to change it back.

Re: Poll: Are You Planning to Buy Bungie's Marathon?

IllusiveMan

Honestly, nothing of the reveal appealed to me, but even if it did the cost of entry is too high for yet another live service.

Not gonna pay $40 for the game, $70 at least for a PS Plus subscription and a $10-20 battle pass on top of it, specially as there’s a plethora of F2P options whenever I want to play these type of games.

Re: Marathon a 'Premium', Paid for Game on PS5, But It's Not $70

IllusiveMan

Lots of copium here as expected, but I see many, many of the same mistakes Sony did with Concord.

  • Art style doesn’t look that attractive, yes better than Concord but that’s an incredibly low bar.
  • The fact it’s $30/40 while also having to pay for PS+ to be able to play, F2P games don’t require even this, plus the battle pass on top of that.
  • Launch is very near and they’ve stated they don’t have yet the narrative and there’s no time to adjust gameplay if people don’t like aspects of it.
  • By the way, gameplay looks on the slower side which was also among the main complaints of Concord.

Re: PS5 Pro Version of Assassin's Creed Shadows Rivals Ultra High-End PCs, Says Ubisoft

IllusiveMan

Honestly, the game does look amazing, the best looking game yet on a PS5 Pro (tho I don’t know about rivaling a $5K PC), while on performance mode it runs at flawless 60 FPS with ray traced lightning and with PSSR it looks almost as sharp as in balance mode, it’s truly impressive and the Pro is already showing off very noticeable upgrades as performance mode on base PS5 is a night and day difference compared to the Pro.

Re: Feature: PS5's Not Perfect, But Here Are 5 Ways It's More Consumer Friendly Than Switch 2

IllusiveMan

@HonestHick I love consoles but PC is sounding like the logical step for next generation, however I really, really dislike Windows and SteamOS still isn’t compatible with many games, if the next Xbox does indeed have Steam I’d get it and get all my games from there, but I honestly doubt Microsoft to actually deliver on that, and I wouldn’t buy anything at all from the MS Store anymore so I’m just waiting to see how next-gen shapes up, for now I’ll just keep my 3 consoles (and get the Switch 2 bundle whenever possible).

Re: PS5 Exclusive Ghost of Yotei Still on Track for 2025 Release

IllusiveMan

@Dalamar Oh come on, are you really saying that GTA IV or San Andreas have “mediocre” or even just bad writing? That’s a classic take on hating on something just because everybody else likes it.

Even GTA V while not having as strong narrative as the previous ones is still pretty good by today’s standards, are you next going to say that RDR2’s writing sucks too?

Re: Fans Unsure Whether Sony Will Block PS5 Games on Xbox's Rumoured PC Hardware

IllusiveMan

They 100% would block games from that Xbox PC device, if Steam doesn’t allow it I can see Sony coming out with their own launcher that won’t be compatible with the PC Xbox and only launch new games there.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if Sony started to delist their games off Steam and be exclusive for their launcher, it would gaslight the PC audience but Sony has been that radical.

Re: God of War Ragnarok Celebrates 20th Anniversary of the Series with Classic God of War 2 Skin, Armor

IllusiveMan

@LiamCroft Sony went all out with hardware for the 30th anniversary, Nintendo does it sometimes every 5-10 years for their franchises, hell even Xbox celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2021 with a good looking console and a new Halo which also had its 20th anniversary.

I know it’s not mandatory to celebrate it that way but it’s a nice thing to do and Sony pretty much never does it for their games, it wasn’t an impossible expectation to get some remasters for such a big anniversary, more so with so many of them we’ve got recently.

And btw, what’s stopping them to just make the first 2 games available via PS2 emulation / PS+ Premium? I’d buy them in a heartbeat 480p and all.

Re: This Trailer for HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 May Be An All-Time Great

IllusiveMan

@HMazzy111 There’s scenes for the full 3 days of Ellie’s journey, we’re definitely getting -that- moment this season, I’d say in the first couple episodes and they’d justify it in the same way it happened in the game as for some story elements you already need to be hurt by -that- so scenes carry emotional baggage, like Ellie playing the guitar wouldn’t hit the same if you didn’t experience -that- earlier.

Re: This Trailer for HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 May Be An All-Time Great

IllusiveMan

Based on what they shown they’re following the pacing structure of the game, telling Ellie’s pov in Season 2 until the theater scene (guaranteed season finale) with some flashbacks thrown in there and following Abby’s pov in Season 3, exactly like the game.

They’ve talked about season 4 but I’m not sure the 3-hour epilogue for Part 2 is enough for an entire season, it could be wrapped up in a couple episodes at most imo.
