One big benefit of subscribing to PS Plus at the Premium tier is access to a catalogue of PS3 games you can stream via the cloud.
While you can't download the games to play them locally, the streaming service is more than capable, provided you have reasonably good broadband.
Unfortunately, members are unable to fully enjoy this perk, because it's currently not working properly.
At the time of writing, if you try to begin streaming a PS3 title that isn't already in your library, it won't work. There's not even an error message; the button simply does nothing.
Reports about this started hitting Reddit (thanks, PlayStation Lifestyle) a few days ago, and there doesn't appear to have been any communication from Sony on the matter.
There does seem to be a workaround, which involves booting up the PS Plus app on PC and starting up the desired PS3 game, which will add it to your library. You can then close that down and continue on PS5.
Others suggest adding the games to your wishlist, and beginning the stream from there.
Hopefully Sony acknowledges the issue soon and fixes the problem. We'll update this story as and when that happens.

Sony just scratching their heads at a rack of YLODs
Games like the Ratchet and Clank PS2 games should have been added to Premium via PS2 emulation by now. Theyve had over 3 1/2 years.
The PS3 port werent great and only having option to stream them versions is disappointing
that native PS3 emulation really can't come soon enough 😭
@B-I-G-DEVIL No God of War 1/2 either feels like a mad missed opportunity as well given the recent anniversary 💔
@Fizza I cant wait for that i hope it happens soon fingers crossed i missed out on a lot of ps3 games
@Fizza theres no excuse at all why sony haven't released god of war 1 and 2 for download just sonys laziness
Pretty funny that PC master race has a workaround for this better than Sonys own methods
For f**u**c***k sake! Bring PS3 emulation. Do it as a thank you. Do it as a jest. Do it as a good will. I don't care it won't make you much, you earn enough especially this gen!
This is wishful thinking but maybe they are updating the service so we can stream the PS3 catalogue of games directly to the PS Portal! I’d play so many more PS3 games that way. Probably just smoking some hopium though.
Yet another reason to avoid subscription based cloud streaming like the plague. What's the tally now?
Maybe the severs blades finally went down
Man Sony really needs to figure this PS3 stuff out asap. This is the problem with cloud streaming. Any part of network goes down, either from client or server side and boom can't play anything. Plus those PS3 servers must be ancient at this point.
And this is why I still treasure my PS3 Slim.
Well that's unfortunate, that aside yeah some like the Ratchet games PS2 entries via the PS3 ones for trophies already done, yeah they shouldn't have done that and just offered the PS2 versions for all regions, they went the PSP route for those over the worse PS2 versions thankfully.
Also for more regions why not offer the non PS3 versions, but not surprised why they don't do that or why people complain they want their shiny console versions or 'better' when that's not always the case.
Business model first with subscriptions, they can keep trying but it's just going to get annoying, yeah just offer PS3 emulation we will wait patiently for it, heck even Vita emulation if they have to I'd take that.
I am happy with my PS3 Slim/Super Slim and don't care I don't even have access to PS3 streaming in my region, I've seen enough of it and other streaming options/platforms and I'd rather a console any day, play-ability over load times, connection issues, resolution and any other garbage or a future I have no interest in other then them using consoles smartly not business decisions to make me ignore them, I have played many consoles and their load times/gameplay ideas and prefer them any day over streaming let alone PS4/5 game loading times or game design I'm not a fan of. So PS3 streaming would be bad even compared to the PS3 native experience and their load times compared to 360 or PC versions. I have played some great PS3 versions or playable and didn't care how rough they were when collecting PS3 games across many genres/past trends and more.
To me I care more for the IPs that are niche to appear on the store fronts (PS+ other tiers for5 those who want to that way I just get them eshop purchase and move on instead).
For what it is PS3 streaming is 'something' but even still whether YLOD or other factors while many PS4 versions of PS3 games exist many others should have been PS2 or PSP versions. I get people go oh I want the console version but hey the PSP versions are still good it's just people get big headed with 'it's a handheld it's worse'.
I've had more fun with PS2/PSP/Wii versions then PS3/360 versions and their graphics first and not as fun gameplay (not always but you could really tell in that generation the ideas/graphics, story telling and it leading into the same with PS4/5 and it's why I just dropped off more and more 8th/9th gen) or some awful bloom and other graphics effects garbaghe on screen so I'd happily take PSP or PS2 versions any day over graphics or 'version they used to play' nonsense, if the gameplay/level design and stories are good or the core is there and playable it's worth it to me.
I miss PS Now it was better then having to buy for the most expensive PS Plus subscription and the game list they had on there was great
These games are running on 20 year old hardware. I think its time to ditch the PS3 (which was poorly designed to begin with) and invest in proper emulation.
Still got my Slim PS3 with 3 official DS3 controllers for this very reason.
Maybe the PS6 will be grunty enough to emulate the Cell and its SPUs but I suspect the PS5 would just melt (might look better though)
I really enjoyed the streaming experience when I had PS+ premium, but my back catalogue is too big so I downgraded to Extra.
