Forza Horizon 6 is one of the biggest racing games on the, erm, horizon for PS5, so we were pretty excited to check out nine whole minutes of new gameplay, courtesy of IGN.
Unfortunately, it's not very interesting.
Here we go:
The game, which launches on Xbox and PC in May and later on PS5, takes place in Japan, and the above video is a decent way to see some of the sights and sounds of the setting.
That's about as much as we can say for it, really; for an arcade racing game, this is perhaps the least action-packed video they could've made, save for just pulling up on the side of the road.

There's very little traffic on the roads, and no actual races or events are shown — it's just a quick tour of some of the map's road network.
It seems the video is aimed at giving you a good look at the game world rather than showcasing races or how progression works — we're sure videos with more going on will come later.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on Forza Horizon 6 so far? Did you enjoy this relaxed video? Tell us in the comments section below.

Personally I love how chill these games are. There are a million high-octane driving games, my favourite bit is just cruising around the map.
I honestly dont understand the little dig at this video. Yeah, it’s not that spectacular, but it seems like a perfectly reasonable first look gameplay trailer. And while i’m not particularly interested in Forza Horizon myself, i must say, it looks quite good.
Edit: I watched the whole thing now, and while i’ll stick to my comment, i do have to agree that the whole video is a bit tame 😅
The game looks great, no way I am waiting for it to come to PS5 haha.
That was incredibly uninteresting, makes you wonder what was the point. I wonder will they add pedestrians in the city because the world felt very dead
I don’t know how IGN manages to capture the least attractive and most boring looking gameplay out of EVERY game they play.
I'm happy to see this video. It's like a nice tour of their version of Japan and it nails the look of Japan totally. Just the roads are much emptier!
That view when the car goes down the hill and you see Tokyo and Rainbow Bridge in the distance is amazing.
It's a good way to show off some of the scenery and the visuals. I know how a race works.
I probably shouldnt say this, but in light of some here saying that Sony’s sequels feel a bit samey. I have to say, watching this gameplay, even if it looks pretty good, felt kinda….. samey 🫣
For me FH5 got boring very quickly with everything being throw at you as opposed to starting from the bottom. So hopefully the new formula in this one will be a better experience. I do prefer the competitive online racing in GT7 to arcade racers but I still enjoy them
Forza Horizon 6: Fukushima Edition
@LogicStrikesAgain you know, till cars will run on 4 tyres, racing games will all look samey.... 🤣
Jokes aside, I see your point.
I like how the video shows the compression of Japan map. From mountains to city to mountains without all the time on freeways and traffic jams . I just don't get why they chose Saleen of all brands instead of titular GR GT and also - the world feels kind of lifeless.
@arnoldlayne83 Lol, fair enough. But that can pretty much be said about Sony’s sequels as well. Only so much to change about Spider Man 2, it will still be set in New York and involve web swinging
The big thing for this game is the setting and it's one folk have literally been asking to be a thing for many years. This preview is just showing off that environment and I don't see anything particularly wrong with them doing that at this stage
I am sure you will all get your fill of six cup espresso high octane footage as well at some point. (and I am sure this website will have good things to say about it obviously 🙄)
@LogicStrikesAgain They added Coney Island, Brooklyn, and Queens. I finished it yesterday, or the day before. After playing three of those games in a row they start to blur. The map/game world is much bigger in Spiderman 2
pretty much how i feel about all racing games these days since NFS heat. simulators are a slog (foriza horizon is not true arcade to me) i can’t wait until that one anime arcade racer comes out.
Such an ironic article, complains about something "so tame", yet proceeds to write and publish a 223 word piece about it 😂
IGN with the tame video 🤝🏻 PushSquare with the hypocrisy
@GirlVersusGame Oh i know. I’m just saying, in light of people saying that those Sony games felt samey. I kinda had the same feeling watching this gameplay footage of FH6
@Jacko11
Where’s the irony though?
This is how I play my games just chilling getting to know my bearings would have loved an inside view that is my only grumble.
Hopefully at least one of the missions involves cat-girls
@LogicStrikesAgain Love the edit
@LogicStrikesAgain Ah fair enough. I stopped buying Forza games after they delisted seven of them that I'd previously played. Holding onto a car license for four years is crazy. I unwillingly started a collection of delisted games and didn't even know it. I haven't seen any other series delist that many of their games. They are on disc so like Driver and Project Cars they aren't fully gone, Forza tend to do it more than any other series.
laughably petty article. can't wait to play the game, map looks great.
This game looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm not a big racing guy, but damn... even I have to admire the fidelity.
I almost hear my driving teacher "Faster, faster, 3rd gear and push..."
I know we just saw a small portion, but, the Japan as a location is looking pretty dull to me.
FH5 map was so vibrant, and had a great variety of biomes, that I feel Japan may lack.
I want this to be good, but time will tell I guess.
Let's be honest, if it wasn't an Xbox Studios game, the headline would read along the lines of "Drop dead gorgeous" or "Incredibly pretty" 🤮
@ElectricWizard exactly
Will there ever be a good game in the genre? Like, you know, with a story. An Uncharted game but in racing. Not like literally every game in the genre being literally the exact same thing just eith a different setting.
