@Uromastryx it was only this year I spent more time in a single playthrough of a game than Witcher 3, I do have gaming OCD so know exactly what you mean haha
@Uromastryx I think they meant in regards to how responsive the world is to your actions.
Whatever else you might say about BG3, it is incredibly impressive the level of reaction. People are discovering new things after plowing hundreds of hours into the game.
Witcher 3 was amazing at that on a large scale, but I’d love to see smaller scale reactions in Witcher 4. Otherwise more of Witcher 3 with better combat would be sublime
It would be great if it was being used to expand borders and gameplay in the same way 3D was, but instead it’s being used to replace people and cut costs, all at the expense of human creativity.
It’s a shame, seemed like Ubisoft were starting to play with their formula a bit in the last couple releases after a few years of stagnation.
Looks intriguing! Also appreciate the other comments here - looks very stylish, and I actually love the FF cheese of it all.
But I hope we get a genuinely interesting take on Arthurian legend, and it’s not just going to reskin a generic action game with recognisable names and cosmetics. Albeit with corny dialogue and VA
@4fold my man, I’m sure Pornhub will sort you out.
The game has a great set of characters, crunchy, surprisingly violent action at times, and a really fun light-RPG set-up with the dispatch work itself. There’s not much of an overall plot, but the team all coming together is really charming, and some choices feel important.
Definitely recommend it for a fun weekend’s entertainment
@NeonTiger I have to disagree with both of those points. I wasn’t sure what you meant by technically ugly? I bought it at launch and performance was silky smooth, it wasn’t 60 fps with ray tracing, but it’s an Indy game.
There are issues with its pace, characters that will take a while to grow on you, music that’s good but can be unobtrusive.
But objectively speaking, the art direction is striking - it’s a unique world, memorable and diverse locations, with things I’ve not seen before in any other game. Subjectively speaking, it’s one of the most strikingly beautiful games I’ve played.
I’ve wanted to play half of the Extra selection, so happy with that. GTA V being wheeled out is a bit lame, but the rest makes up for it. All varied, and most highly rated.
Looking better and better, obvious very strong Witcher 3 vibes in all the best ways, with crunchier combat. Will wait for reviews as ever, but will put money aside to buy it if it reviews well
Boooo! Generative AI for coding assistance is one (often brining) thing, but for the creative side of things, the art and such? Gross to be bragging about not paying actual artists or people for the work
I’ve got a few episodes left - but it really is such a charming game, world and set of characters.
The animation is vibrant and distinct without being distracting, the dispatching part is addictive, they create solid time and character in a large cast. Still salty about the terrible, borderline-insulting stammer representation, but the rest is superb enough I can let it slide with just a grumble.
I know it’s a huge, huge market and it’s what the kids do these days - but gods I can’t describe how much I despise the words “for Mobile phones” when it comes to games I’d otherwise be all for. I’m sure it’ll be fun and be a money spinner though, to fund the next console game
I think Suckerpunch capitulating was a bit surprising and disappointing, but the game is very good and deserves to sell well - it’s nice to have bad guys that are bad, and everyone cheering as the heroes do heroic things.
Plus you can pet the ***** outta foxes. No one mentions the fox petting enough. One shrine gives you like 3 pets.
On the one hand, I put almost 100 hours into the game, on the other I can barely remember any stand-out moments. It was ultimately a very brown, very dull world but with the best gameplay of the series.
It’s far from a bad game, but taking out graphics and gameplay it was easily the weakest in the series. But subjective, as ever.
Can’t wait to play Beyond Good & Evil 2, ES6 and Soul Reaver 3 when I’m senile enough to believe I’m actually living in their worlds. The future of gaming: Dementia.
The optimist in me hopes they’ve given themselves 6 months instead of multiple smaller delays, to give plenty of time to launch in a state with stable frame-rates. But they also have the flexibility, no matter when they release it’ll be in profit by the next day.
Well those comments went in a strange direction. But all good news on the ME front, Veilguard really grew on me so I have faith they’ve still got the heart to provide fun gameplay with good characters.
‘Civil War’ sounds interesting - if it’s about curing the genophage, and another Krogan uprising, I wonder if they’ll slot in any previous choices. Would it mean, possibly, we see Wrex again? Could we play as an alien, on any side?
They’re both great games, and it’s been a while since I played Tsushima so might not remember all the details.
But Yotei has tighter, more challenging (on higher difficulties) combat, the exploration is masterful, with distinct organic visual markers, and I love how the flashbacks are handled.
But Tsushima seemed the bigger spectacle, that iconic intro, some real standout main quests. But I’ve not played many main quests in Yotei, so the spectacle may still be there later on. But generally, both similar, both good.
@FuriousMachine that’s my thought too. They were fired for trying to unionise, but they had to find a justification first, which they’ve likely been able to provide. They’re a big business that earns BIG money, unions threaten the profit margins
Incredible studio, and amazing to have grown up with their increasingly mature games. Still holding on Jak 4, I know it’ll never happen but a boy can dream. Also, am I going mad or did they blur out a pride flag in the video?
Been burnt out for months, hits about 10pm and I crash out. I got Ghost of Yotei yesterday and played it until 4am. Weirdly had energy to go to a gig tonight. If it cures my Burnout I’m recommending it to the government for NHS rollout.
It’s a really fantastic set of characters, heartfelt story and excellent animation, I really enjoyed my afternoon with it. I have a feeling each episode will be about an hour, so won’t be long, but a good story can fit into 8 hours.
I was disappointed by some piss-poor stammer representation, where you’re given three options telling a character “Nah, you don’t have a stammer, you're just anxious!” - which is the sort of annoying bs prejudice we’re constantly facing, but it’s heart was in the right place.
@Burnish1619 Dragon’s Dogma 2 is definitely better than the original - it’s almost a remake of the original. It’s fantastic, hope you enjoy it!
Very strange game in many ways, won’t be for everyone, but if it clicks there’s nothing else like it.
I’m on God of War: Ragnarok, creeping towards the end (at 520h so far) of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and about to get stuck into ‘Dispatcher’ now we’ve got a decent chunk of episodes out!
Interesting article, but I don’t think TikTok and the like is a big threat to gaming.
I think the cost (justified, often, in terms of manufacture) is more a factor, but with the cost of going out increasing, younger generation not drinking as much, I don’t think gaming is under great threat - we might just see a shift in the types of games played.
Maybe an increase in more multiplayer/party games, but a decrease in overall sales as people make the most out of the fewer games they can afford.
Really excited about the news - original was my first FPS and PC games ever. I was dreadful, but loved every, intense minute.
Bot played it since, so a remake will give me all the nostalgia without any of the disappointment. I remember it had guns, vehicles I often flipped and a part fighting invisible ***** aboard a ship, give me that and I’ll be happy.
@cburg apologies, that was an unfair statement (therapy day, so a bit grumpier than usual).
I’d be very happy to be wrong, the most recent game of theirs I’ve played was the first Outer Worlds.
Was Avowed, grounded or Pentiment any closer in terms of character, personality and emotion to their earlier output like Fallout: NV, NWN2 or KOTOR2?
Obsidian have sadly lost their magic in recent years, sounds like this just confirms it. They make perfectly fun and perfectly forgettable games these days - but I’ll grab on a deep sale, same as the first one, and enjoy the ride while I’m on it.
It was an absolute blast - I remember for the time, although it obviously did emulate a lot of GTA themes, it also had some original and well implemented ideas. Great world, music and decent graphics (for the time) too.
I’d love to see it resurface, pipedream would be a remake, prequel or spin-off.
Looks like it’ll be a perfect, great fun blast when it’s on sale or a subscription service. There are enough games out there with great action sat on my backlog after a strong couple years of games
@Marquez bold of you to assume they aren’t your 16yo daughter. Bold of you to assume everyone besides you on this site isn’t the different guises of your daughter.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Rughteous mostly for me. Almost 500 hours in. Almost finished. Good gods, almost finished. As in, probably another 15 hours or so.
Then I’ll be jumping into a mix of God of War: Ragnarok, Baldur’s Gate 3, Rogue Trader and maybe something under 100-500 hours long if might be so bold.
With the torrential flow of issues around its development I’m not massively surprised, but I was hoping it would be a surprise hit.
Still, I’ll play it when it inevitably comes to PS+ expecting the worst and finding it surprisingly enjoyable. Looks like it might scratch an itch at some point
Honestly this is of very little interest to me. I’d rather hear:
Will the combat/gameplay be crunchier and more exciting
and/or will we get stronger characters (or really any memorable character will do), story and roleplaying
I did enjoy the first game, but it was a bit flat in all areas, and I’ve never wanted to go back for a second playthrough. It had a lot of potential I hope this will realise though.
I have a strong feeling performance will be choppy and it’ll need some patching, but it looks like it’ll be a tonne of fun.
It also looks like it’s focusing on “what would be fun” and “what would be cool/ridiculous” - it’s not trying to reinvent the wheel, it’s not being overblown as such by the studio. If it has just focused on those, I think it’ll deliver. Probably looking at a very fun 7 or 8/10.
Finally, a game that’ll let us beat up a bunch of children without a morality system!

Re: Top-Notch Metroidvania F.I.S.T. Gets a PS5 Prequel in Zoopunk
I loved F.I.S.T’s atmosphere and setting, but I find it hard to connect with metroidvania’s - this looks fantastic fun though!
Cheesy lines and action, taking itself a touch too seriously, only adds to its charm - reminding me a bit of Darksiders.
