I’m sort of expecting it’s just a remaster where they’ve upped the frame rate to 60fps and given it a bit of polish. Things just got wildly out of hand with someone being overheard out of context in a pub
I think it’s common for a lot of gamers to wait a couple months for things to be patched, and if the price goes down there’s no hurry. It’s important we keep pushing for physical releases, when it goes all digital we’ll see fewer price drops I imagine.
But £80 is too much for a lot of people, £70 is a lot, it has been great for the popularity of indies though!
This is sounding better and better, a game as long as it needs to be. I only played the first three, but I remember them being well crafted, dark, exciting and atmospheric, so sounds like we’ll get similar!
A lot of these sound interesting, but I haven’t heard about them before - I like the snippets from the store descriptions, helps get an idea to look into more. I’ll keep an eye on reviews for these.
I’m not sure I agree with the broad point of ‘gamers being less tolerant of punishing gameplay’, Souls-like games are incredibly popular.
But personally I appreciate a game that’s more fair, just because as you get older your time for gaming is reduced, and I want to get further than between 2 checkpoints in a free evening
Robocop is really under appreciated - it’s a fantastic game that captures the films perfectly. Janky I’m a lot of ways, but a lot of fun and surprisingly decent story. Lots of explosions too.
This sounds fun and interesting, my only concern would be making it clear what point triggers a story beat, so you don’t accidentally miss out on a chance to explore somewhere fully before being whisked away. But that’s only if it ever cuts you off from backtracking.
Surely if they’re making a change it should be the opposite, the one going for the throw but blocked should take minimal damage? That would add a fun element of risk
I’ll never understand how a nation where literally everything is, or at least can, kill you is so heavy handed in its censorship. But as someone else said, great advertising for a horror game!
Here’s hoping for some solid werewolf content - it’s ridiculous how little werewolf rep we have on console. I’m also looking forward to where they’ve chosen to include the singular use of F**k
Square have been particularly ridiculous about this game, the way to drive up sales is not constantly whine how it didn’t sell as many as you, as a business, wished it would make based on some abstract, obscene number plucked from the air.
It’s a fantastic game, the best single player FF since 10 easily, they should be proud of what was achieved.
Very intrigued, it’s the only game I’ve been really excited for since last year. I’m still waiting for reviews though, but if it’s a 7 or higher I’ll pick it up ASAP
Calling it now, we’ll get a live service game set in a future Baldur’s Gate with steampunk aesthetics with a roster of handsome younger men with easy smiles and abb-jiggle physics in their 40s after a life of ket-filled mornings.
This could be be superb, incredibly hammy and terrible or incredibly hammy and wonderful - I’m intrigued, they just need to get Kratos right and the CGI
This should be standard really. It’s expensive, and any case they bring to court will be lengthy and difficult (you have to prove both the threat, continued harassment, and psychological impact on the victim/s). But there have been multiple cases of death threats, extreme racism and sexual assault threats against anyone involved in games, which can affect real people on the other end.
They’re not planning to whisk people away in the night to unknown facilities, leaving their late-term pregnant wife and lawyer to spend two weeks hunting their location down, for speaking out a year ago, this isn’t suppressing free speech or 2025 US we’re talking about.
Really odd choice if this is true - there’ll be demand for it, sure, but something about this whole things seems off.
Either’s it’s nonsense, it’s a remaster that got out of hand, or there’s not enough confidence in it to start that hype train. Without hype might it fall a bit flat?
@EfYI that’s similar to how I felt, so it’s great to hear it did click for you later on. It’s ‘free’ now, so I’ll dip back in and rush a bit instead of exploring every nook and cranny for hours.
@EfYI can I ask when Veilguard really picked up for you?
I’m a leftie snowflake etc. kinda dude, so I wasn’t put off by the ‘politics’ if people want to call diversity that. But found the characters and story just bland and predictable after 20-ish hours.
I hadn’t got all the characters yet, I haven’t met Taash, Emmrich not sure about Davrin. I’ll go back to it at some point, but not in a rush atm
I’m glad this is reviewing well, it really looked interesting in its promotion. I’ll check out the price and see if I can pick this up before next payday, I need something relaxing and thoughtful.
I still think Vanille is the single worst voice actor I think I’ve ever heard. Like genuinely painful to listen to. I tried so hard to fight past it, but I couldn’t get past the final disc/part.
The other characters were okay, but none really grabbed my heart. I remember getting more into it the more I played, but every time Vanille popped up wanting to immediately switch off.
I don’t think I’ve ever had that reaction to a VO before or since.
I’m fascinated by the first comment on this article - how do you write something so inappropriate you get perma-banned on an article about Danny Dyer? What did they say? What IS there to say, except “that’s odd, he’s a funny man, sometimes intentionally”
Fantastic news, the base game was a real joy and surprise. Superb fun, great humour and a surprisingly engaging story and choices. If this is more of the same, I’m all down for it.
@Slideaway1983 is it Spike Milligan who said, similarly, “Life’s a bitch, then you die”?
But I feel like if I made it through secondary school I can make it through anything. And we have plenty of great friends and games to help along the way!
I’ve only played Bloom & Rage - a spectacular game with an absolutely ludicrously terrible bug, that’s been busy wiping out people’s (and mine) entire saves.
I’d backed up on the cloud, but still lost a good 3-4 hours of playtime. Please patch it already DontNod!
@Foxhound I’ve heard Kingdom Come 2 is also pretty solid out the box, which is amazing for something that scale. It is possible, I think a lot of studios just use us as free QA these days to cut costs.
Looking forward to giving DA:V another chance, my time with it was perfectly alright but it didn’t light any fires for me. But I hadn’t played DA:I in years and I’d just spent £70 on it, so traded it in after about 15-20 hours. Now it’s free and I’ve replayed DA:I, maybe I’ll get more into it.
Surprised to see the FF16 hate - it was easily the best FF since 10. Great characters, score, graphics. Exciting story. Cool dog. Cool chocobos. British voice cast. And combat was simple, but fun.
@Foxhound take your pick! Every game seems to launch in a bad state, to be patched and fixed a month or more into coming out.
But to put names to them: Cyberpunk 2077 was a biggie (love it now though), Guardians of the Galaxy (again, excellent now), Star Wars Outlaws, Baldur’s Gate 3 (act 3, mainly), recently, luckily didn’t preorder as it was free, Lost Tapes: Bloom & Rage (common glitch recently wiped my whole save few chapters from the end).
It’s the exception when a game launches in a decent state from Day 1, and that’s when you’re paying the most.
@Coffeeglitch haha I’ve actually been loving my (also mid) 30s tbh, get to be the geeky weirdo I always wanted to be with less worries. The therapy is affordable now too.
Still cautiously optimistic. Been burned one too many times with similar hype before, so holding off on the pre-order, but I’ll have my money ready to buy it once reviews are out if it lives up to the promise.
My concern is more on the technical side, that it might fall off a cliff outside of opening hours.

Re: Upcoming PS5 Games for April and May 2025
Dont forget ‘Promise Mascot Agency’ out on 10th April, possibly the most exciting game to come out this year!
Clair Obscure looks alright too, I suppose.

Gritty fantasy Zelda sounds like the sort of complete car-crash I’m 100% down for. But it could surprise us.
Re: One of the Strangest Games Ever Made Appears to Be Coming to PS5, PS4
@Llamageddon I agree with you here.
Promise Mascot Agency is absolutely bananas, but it’s got interesting, unique gameplay and a real unique feel to it from the demo.
This just looks like a really dull, basic game hoping the premise of panties will turn a quick buck.

What do you gain from bullying a studio with a failed game? Nothing, except looking like unpleasant bullies.
Stupid move, especially when you see the positive public reaction to studios supporting others.

I blame one person for horrific nightmare content like this, and it’s Mr. Junji Ito.
Re: Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land (PS5) - Relentlessly Charming JRPG Is a Must Play
I’m currently playing Atelier Sophie 2, it’s a lot of fun but it’s a bit tough to handle the aggressive anime-ness of it all.
Every woman in the game has the face of a child and skimpy almost school or nurse outfits with a chest that could support medium towns atop them.
This game looks similar with its blue fox girl, but I’m sure it’ll still be fun if you can look past it.
Re: Silent Hill F Revealed for PS5 in Debut Trailer
The atmosphere is THICC in that trailer. Character models/graphics look a touch ropey, but the art direction and feel looks fantastic.
I can’t wait to play this in bursts of 45 minutes before I get too scared each night after it releases.

Re: Yoshi-P No Longer Sits on Square Enix's Board of Directors
@PuppetMaster that’s a shame, I mean it’s definitely not the same series it was up until 10, but each game has had its strengths and weaknesses.
Just seems strange when the game is far closer to those earlier games (outside of combat) than the last few entries.

Completely gross, probably using AI to generate the ideas in the first place. If ever there was a death knell for a studio, doing this nonsense is it.
And yet, it’ll probably, horribly, be effective. But I really, really hope it’s not and they return to paying creatives to field test their ideas
