Sony's ill-advised live service push has resulted in pretty extreme skepticism from the PlayStation faithful — and it's really starting to look like Marathon will struggle to find any kind of footing with hardcore PS5 fans.
Bungie's shooter was included in a big poll that we hosted on the site last week. We asked readers of Push Square to vote for their most anticipated PS5 games for the second half of 2025; a total of 70 titles were included in the poll, and over 6,000 votes were cast by the community.
Some games, like Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2, did incredibly well for themselves, attracting 961 votes and 504 votes, respectively. However, upon inspecting the full results, it's Marathon that caught our eye — and not in a good way.
The multiplayer extraction title received just 18 (eighteen!) votes out of 6,047, placing it 47th out of 70.

Now, we should note that each user could vote for up to five different games — which makes the apparent lack of interest in Marathon even more damning. No matter how you slice it, that's a shockingly low amount of support for a project that's being pushed by PlayStation and developed by such a storied team at Bungie.
Of course, this follows on from the whole art theft saga, which rocked Bungie to its core last month. The developer simply can't seem to catch a break when it comes to its new shooter — and we suppose that the negative press is taking its toll.
