I never got around to these, despite being a massive JRPG fan back in the day. Videobox never had them to rent!

But I’ll definitely check out this collection, not sure I can afford the current price but will pick up further down the line.

I’ve only played Bloom & Rage - a spectacular game with an absolutely ludicrously terrible bug, that’s been busy wiping out people’s (and mine) entire saves.

I’d backed up on the cloud, but still lost a good 3-4 hours of playtime. Please patch it already DontNod!

@Foxhound I’ve heard Kingdom Come 2 is also pretty solid out the box, which is amazing for something that scale. It is possible, I think a lot of studios just use us as free QA these days to cut costs.

Looking forward to giving DA:V another chance, my time with it was perfectly alright but it didn’t light any fires for me. But I hadn’t played DA:I in years and I’d just spent £70 on it, so traded it in after about 15-20 hours. Now it’s free and I’ve replayed DA:I, maybe I’ll get more into it.

@PuppetMaster that’s a shame, I mean it’s definitely not the same series it was up until 10, but each game has had its strengths and weaknesses.

Just seems strange when the game is far closer to those earlier games (outside of combat) than the last few entries.

Surprised to see the FF16 hate - it was easily the best FF since 10. Great characters, score, graphics. Exciting story. Cool dog. Cool chocobos. British voice cast. And combat was simple, but fun.

If it’s not snake in green and black, it’s not getting downloaded to my mobiles. Back in my day Phones were Phones and Suikoden was Suikoden.

Completely gross, probably using AI to generate the ideas in the first place. If ever there was a death knell for a studio, doing this nonsense is it.

And yet, it’ll probably, horribly, be effective. But I really, really hope it’s not and they return to paying creatives to field test their ideas

@Foxhound take your pick! Every game seems to launch in a bad state, to be patched and fixed a month or more into coming out.

But to put names to them: Cyberpunk 2077 was a biggie (love it now though), Guardians of the Galaxy (again, excellent now), Star Wars Outlaws, Baldur’s Gate 3 (act 3, mainly), recently, luckily didn’t preorder as it was free, Lost Tapes: Bloom & Rage (common glitch recently wiped my whole save few chapters from the end).

It’s the exception when a game launches in a decent state from Day 1, and that’s when you’re paying the most.

@Coffeeglitch haha I’ve actually been loving my (also mid) 30s tbh, get to be the geeky weirdo I always wanted to be with less worries. The therapy is affordable now too.

It’s hard making friends in your 30s, I think this is an untapped market!

Still cautiously optimistic. Been burned one too many times with similar hype before, so holding off on the pre-order, but I’ll have my money ready to buy it once reviews are out if it lives up to the promise.

My concern is more on the technical side, that it might fall off a cliff outside of opening hours.

This is a great article, a list at the start might be helpful but it’s great having a bit of text, sone screenshots and the price comparison.

That said I need to be sensible and not buy any of these this month, I’m already playing 3 new games at the moment.

I bought this at release, found it very hollow and bland, with characters that were fine.

However having in the meantime replayed Inquisition, maybe I’ll come to it more in the mood, and for free I’ll dive back in. Maybe the story and characters pick up after I left off.

I’m super psyched by these growing numbers - there’s nothing like the Fable series. Funny, truly magical worlds where you really feel lost in a fairy tale. Also, look at that Werewolf! When have we ever had a werewolf look that good? And the world looks beautiful in the footage.

Some folk are just hard to please.

Is the game where we had a big introduction from the Dev, a sort of Cozy-game deconstruction about mental health, or is this a similar but different game? Looks a bit more cute than what I remembered.

It’s all about Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, but I might dip into Silent Hill 2 remake then when I get too scared move over to Atelier Sophie 2, picked both up in recent sales…talk about whiplash

Gods I’d forgotten all about this show, genuinely is a blast from the past! Honestly it’s a wonder any 90s kid didn’t end up a furry, with this, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Raccoons, Biker Mice from Mars, Street Sharks. So many cool animal shows. So much pizza and root beer.

I don’t think I’ve seen much about this game, not sure id call it highly anticipated. It’s not more anticipated as GTA6 or the next Elder Scrolls. Seems to be more hype around Expedition 33 even.

Very much looking forward to this, I’m going to save it for the weekend but will likely blitz through it. I’ve only played DontNod games with all parts out before, so looking forward to getting the full experience of build up and pay off this time

Really excited but wary about this one - it looks so promising, I’m genuinely excited for it which I’m not for many games, but I’ll wait for those reviews.

I’m expecting some jank on release, it’s a small team and ambitious project, but I can put up with that if they stick the landing on story and atmosphere.

It was a good year to get into the game, but I didn’t realise it was only those 4 games - no FFIX! ;(

Edit: the full set WILL include all mainline games! Just these commander presets are the 4 games.

As standard then - releases in a perfectly fun but almost beta state, then after a few months to a year it’ll have the DLC’s to turn it into a full game at over £100. I’ll wait for a sale on the ‘Complete Edition’

But back to Final Fantasy, I agree - I too hope we get plenty of sexy, seasonal and revealing costumes for Freya in the remake and subsequent DLC’s.

It looks like a really impressive achievement, and I’m sure once you’re on top of things it must be amazing, I just don’t have the time for save points and all the sim side of things these days - I struggle enough in real life.

@NeonTiger there was an entire film built around muscly women, so take your pick from any actress in ‘Love Lies Bleeding’, Brie Larson I think would be great, Katee Sackhoff, even Emily Blunt. There’s plenty out there.

But I was being snarky, it may just be the actor physically can’t bulk up in the same way, and if you find the right actor that’s what matters.

I wouldn’t have chosen the lead 2 actors, but they do a great job and capture the characters despite physical differences, I’m sure it’ll be the same this time.

I have a sneaky suspicion it’s tied into money laundering - put out enough games it looks legit, then let the money flow in staff, advertising or development costs. But I’ve probably also been watching too many exciting shows.

I’m sure the reason so many get through is Sony not wanting to hire enough people to check them though.

This sounds amazing, huge, immersive as anything.

But I was completely and utterly hopeless in the first game at combat, lock picking and basic things I needed to play the game. And that’s when I could find the time to plow into it, which I don’t really have much of these days.

I fear I may have to sit on this one, unless they have made the combat a little less unwieldy.

What I meant is we’re only just moving away from games being built for both PS4 and PS5, it feels like there’s still room for the PS5 to be pushed and explored and built on.

I’m not saying there’s been no impressive games, just that we’ve not seen the best it can do yet

@JB_Whiting haha I didn’t, it was 200! 100 is a tragedy, 200 is a really great 5* police chase in the making.

Is the PS5 showing its age? Feels like it’s still not gotten started, like a lot of games really haven’t pushed the boundaries. It also feels like every developer has en masse decided to ditch haptic feedback/triggers.

But as long as we get a stable frame rate as we blow up 200 cars and orphan a hundred children, I’ll be satisfied
