If you're into modern takes on classic Japanese RPG adventures, you'll definitely want to keep an eye on Indie Quest.
Only just announced and set to be broadcast next week on the 29th May at 4pm PT / 7pm ET / 12am BST (technically the 30th May for us Europeans), the showcase sounds rather promising.
It'll feature "over 40 exclusive trailers" for upcoming projects, alongside "one major reveal from a critically-acclaimed studio".
Now, obviously, more than 40 trailers is a lot to get through, and we're guessing that most of the titles on show will only be confirmed for PC. But still, there's bound to be some cool stuff on display here — and as always, it's nice to see smaller games getting some time in the spotlight.

Oh, this is awesome. I'm into this, yeah! Don't love every one, but I give most a chance.
Hoping for a lot of console releases too, but I know the chances.
Some of the best games are indies. Looking forward to it.
Just give me a release date for Sword of the Sea. Please 🙏
I'm a fan of indie games, particularly classic 16bit style RPG games that imitate Legend of Zelda series or Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest.
Much happier spending my cash on Indie Developers than mainstream publishers.
@Enuo Sword of the Sea isn't a JRPG though
Sounds great! Can’t wait for Skyrim: The JRPG, AKA This Time It’s Hamfisted Climate Change Subplot AKA Stop Right There Mysterious Black Rot AKA I Used To Be Adventurer Like You Then I Got This Gravity Defying Rad Haircut to be announced at the end.
I am psyched for this!
I'll be there. Already subscribed to The Gaming Shelf.
Oh good, I bet 35/40 of them will not be worth buying but those 5 that are fun will give me hours of game time.
Neat, as a huge fan of Sea of Stars, Cosmic Star Heroine and Ikenfell, I'm on board with this sub-genre.
40 consecutive trailers of games in the same genre doesn't seem like a great idea. I imagine a lot of them will be Chrono Trigger inspired and similar-seeming. I hope it raises the profile of some cool games though. I really need to get around to playing more JRPGs.
