"I like Borderlands and am always willing to give a new game a shot, but the third one was absolute bobbins and made me want to shove razor blades under my fingernails just to take my mind off the writing, so now I'm a bit wary"
From what I've seen it looks like they might have dialled back the obnoxiousness and returned to what made the first one so good. I'm cautiously optimistic.
I've got this downloading today while I'm at work and I'm looking forward to actually giving it a proper go. I didn't really bother with it much first time around.
My eldest loves it and can't wait to play it, he's been mithering me to death for this
Trotting through Raya Academy in Elden Ring, an area I usually rush through. There are quite a few secrets I'd forgotten about or just outright missed. I've been taking my time and it's been quite relaxing, apart from everyone I meet trying to kill me.
Started Blue Prince properly yesterday and it's a clever little game. Probably not for everyone but me and the kids are having a laugh with it. It helps that I went in purposefully avoiding any info about it.
Hopefully it doesn't take some really sinister turn and scar the children for life, that would teach me.
I had a Sega Saturn at the time, and wanted this game for Christmas. However the Saturn release was delayed until the new year and I never got it. Had to content myself with the demo at my mate's house. Now, finally, all these years later, I can live my dream of owning Croc.
Started Kena last week, that seems fun. Also carrying on with Sniper Elite Resistance, while Elden Ring and Dark Souls III hang around in tbe background
Good wholesome nazi-testicle-popping laughs in Sniper Elite Resistance, punctuated with bouts of the cerebral Disco Elysium. I feel like I've achieved a nice life balance.
@Kraven Suikoden II improves on the formula in every way, but the first game certainly has its own feel. They share quite a few characters so it's best just to see them as two parts of a bigger journey. Enjoy!
Faith, religion and loneliness have been the main themes of many great sci-fi films. I believe gaming is an equally valid medium to film, but we need big themes to prove that.
Not all games of course, there's still room for fun. But otherwise we'll eternally be seen as sweaty lumps playing CoD in a darkened room, eating Pringles and ogling Lara Croft's boobs. And personally I only enjoy one of those things.
I wish they'd gone a bit further - parity between menus/systems as mentioned in the review, iron out some translation wrinkles, maybe add the Saturn content to Sui I (although that might not be easy from a developer point of view).
But I shouldn't complain. I'm still looking forward to playing through these again at some point.
@Migoshuro I agree to an extent. The new backgrounds jar a little with the sprites and possibly lose some of the character. I'm hoping it will look better when I'm playing it and I'll soon get used to it
@johncalmc Definitely play Sui II if you can find time for it! Properly great game
@ErrantRob It's good fun and a completely different way of playing because you need to get in close.
I've gone dex and bleed, more of a swift, Muhammad Ali character. My mate is planning on a Mike Tyson-style strength version so we can co-op. I guess another option would be to get the martial-arts weapons from the DLC areas and go Conor McGregor kickboxer!
Nightreign if I can get it to work. I tried Friday's but the matchmaking wasn't having any of it.
Being in the Roundtable Hold made me want to play Elden Ring again, so I've got back into that. Running a boxer build, fist weapons and leg armour only. Add in the Bloodhound Step and I'm floating like a butterfly, stinging like a bee.
Couldn't care less about the outage, I've been out since 3pm and I'm off my face on caramel rum. But surely this is a record for most comments on an article?
I'm glad you mention plagarism, because I've spent the last four years working on my indie game "Poo Poo Breast Poo", a thoughtful walking simulator about one man's struggle with depression.
@ErrantRob Haha, Subnautica is mine. I was literally in a bubble. Personally I've found nothing has been able to replicate the experience of gaming in lockdown
I'd be surprised if Rockstar hadn't at least considered it. But I think they'll follow the same model they did with V. Sell the game as one bundle initially, then online becomes available separately later.
If there's one series where I'm happy with more of the same, it's Sniper Elite. I'll be on this as soon as me and my mate can clear our schedules. We always play through them in co-op, and it never fails to be hilarious
Yes, Preston Garvey, I will go and help another settlement. Because I'm having such a good time running around shooting things that even my tolerance for your busybodying is high.
I kind of see the argument from a developer's point of view, games are requiring more and more resources to make these days. But I don't think I could ever stump up three figures for a computer game.
Besides, Rockstar is the last company that needs to make more money
It was typical of Sony this gen, simply roll it out while cockily assuming it'll be a success, without a proper marketing and pricing strategy. I'm sure it's a great bit of kit (not got one myself) but where was the plan for market?
This is how companies get when the competition fades, everyone wishing for the failure of Microsoft should look at the current state of Sony, from an outward facing point of view.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Borderlands 4?
Where's the option for:
"I like Borderlands and am always willing to give a new game a shot, but the third one was absolute bobbins and made me want to shove razor blades under my fingernails just to take my mind off the writing, so now I'm a bit wary"
Feel free to change the wording on that.

Re: The Beloved Duck Detective Is Getting a Sequel, Both Games Paddling to PS5 in May
I have no interest in this game, I just wanted to express my appreciation for "Quack the case".

Elden Ring, Sniper Elite Resistance, and I'll be checking out The Blue Prince too
Re: RiME Dev Tequila Works Forced to Auction Off Assets After Bankruptcy
I've got fond memories of Rime. This is very sad to see, but if it helps people move forward then I guess it is what it is.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 575
Played A Short Hike last night, got to the "end" in one sitting but there's plenty more to be done.
A bit of Elden Ring in between, for when I fancy a bit more jeopardy about my explorations.
Re: Remaster Specialists Are Ready to Target the PS3 Next, And We Can't Wait
I'd like to see the Portal games brought together in one package

Not sure, I might start Kena given it's got a month left on Extra
Re: Atomfall (PS5) - British Charm Elevates Riveting Mystery
Calling the village Wyndham is a nice touch, given the societal sci-fi feel of things.
Re: Another 8 Great PS5, PS4 Games Will Leave PS Plus Extra in April
Right I'll get on Kena then
Re: Even Silent Hill F's PS5 Steelbook Is Horrible to Look At

Re: Ex-Xbox System Seller Starfield Edges Ever Closer to PS5
I'll give it a go at some point, but only when it goes cheap or PS Plus.
If you'd told me in 2008 that Bethesda were making a space game I'd have been all over it. Got to check it out, just out of curiosity.

@nessisonett There's no way Pyramid Head should be in Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta. I can't believe you would even suggest that
Re: 12 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for March 2025 Announced
@AhmadSumadi Ouch, hope they didn't pay too much for it. At least it goes towards supporting the devs. Good deed for the day!

Yep almost bought Prince of Persia a few weeks back, very happy about that. Not sure about the rest but hey ho

Re: Konami Announced a New Suikoden Game, But There's a Huge Catch
Wasn't expecting this. Not really for me, but if there's a plus side, maybe it would up our chances of a proper Suikoden sequel if it does well?
My gut feeling is it's a quick cash-in designed to raise the profile of the brand in time for the remasters, but we'll see.
Re: Terminator 2D: No Fate Looks Like a Modern Day Mega Drive Game for PS5, PS4
Yeah this looks ace. Any chance of the steelbook by itself without all the gubbins? I'm good for premium metal paperweights.

I can count the reasons for not being a CoD gamer on one hand. I have six reasons.
Re: Phil Spencer Posits Generative AI Tech Preserving Old Games, Called 'Idiotic' by Expert
Proposing this as a means of replicating games shows a misunderstanding of what AI actually is.

Re: Random: The Ultimate Git Gud FromSoftware Challenge, Completed
Big deal, I recently completed an all-hit run, where I made sure I was hit by every single boss in all the games.
It was definitely a challenge run, and the numerous beatings I took were purely by choice.

And then again on PS6.
And then again on PS7.

Dark Souls II, this game is longer than I remember. Also Wo Long and Fallout 4, which I'm still absolutely loving, more so than first time around.
