MindsEye is being put through the wringer right now, but it seems UK gamers are willing to give it a shot.
The country's physical games chart is here, and the action title has made a pretty strong debut at number four. Not a bad position for most new games, let alone one that's been so heavily criticised.
As usual, the PS5 version makes up the lion's share of the sales with 80 per cent.
It'll be interesting to see some firmer data about MindsEye's sales as more information comes out from different regions.

Elsewhere, Mario Kart World is understandably number one, with usual suspects EA Sports FC 25 and Hogwarts Legacy in second and third respectively.
The remainder of the top 10 is fairly predictable, although Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has made a big resurgence, moving from 31st to eighth.
Here's the latest top 10 in full (physical sales only).
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 14th June 2025
- Mario Kart World
- EA Sports FC 25
- Hogwarts Legacy
- MindsEye
- Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered

Well, I guess the expression is true...there is no bad press. In all fairness, the game's controversy has made it a constant hot topic for several weeks, whereas, otherwise it would've likely been released and very quickly forgotten.
Sure it's fourth but that won't take into account how many asked for a refund, I expect to see a abundance of these in CEX by the end of month....
I thought it looked generic from the beginning. But more power to you if you picked it up. Also, Nintendo hot damn?!
Never judge the masses by what you read on the internet.
I think this primarily highlights just how low the bar is for a chart position in a random week with very few(to no) new releases. It’s actual sales numbers are likely quite low I’d imagine.
I wonder if they will subtract the refunds next time round? I image it will tank pretty deeply in next weeks chart...
There was clearly a HUGE amount of money spent on advertising on this game. YouTube, Websites, TV, magazines, public transport, i've seen it all over. That will always lead to SOME sales, especially when there were no reviews, but I suspect that will tail off quickly.
Seems a bit of a disaster all around for IO interactive who published it. I wonder if they will publish anything from other studios in future?
It was 13th digitally (UK) pre refund/post release day (which is very bad for a brand new game) But it's actually at #11 now 🤷♂️
It seems like a game to pick up in a few years for £3.99 and be like... "Huh, wasn't so bad."
@Frmknst no apparent reason?
Games like this and the Saints Row Reboot really do highlight just how good GTA actually is. Even Vice City blows the pants off Mind's Eye in terms of content from what I've seen
If GTA6 releases in a perfected state, it will absolutely have been worth the wait. Guaranteed.
I bet this game will sell at $10 or lower in a couple of years and some people are going to be like "Mindseye was underrated and misunderstood"
Anyway, I'm more interested with the fact that Mario Kart 8 is still selling considerably well when World is now available
@Ashina Some may have skipped the OG Switch entirely and jumped aboard Switch 2.
To be fair you lot have been advertising it for ages now. Clearly they dumped loads of money into an ad campaign plus the football season’s over and a new COD is a distance away so if you’re going to be buying a new game, what will you buy? The game advertised as like a new GTA even though it’s dreadful.
@Frmknst I’ve seen videos of the game. I’ve seen the glitches and the bleh. I’ve seen the dev whine that any negative opinions are part of a negativity campaign, and I saw their groveling post-launch apologies acknowledging that it’s basically broken.
This isn’t “no apparent reason.”
You can always rely on the video game 'community' to demonstrate they have more money than sense (or taste). And that's why the industry will continue to get shadier and shadier.
Don't want this game sell well else games companies will think it acceptable release trash like this game the charts are dominated by mostly kids hence why ea sports fc is at number 2 other than that it's a good list of games which I'm suprised at
So the people who got ripped off is bigger than we thought, broken games being released shouldn't be the norm, consumer rights have been broken, when you purchase something, the seller has to provide what you payed for.
The way we are told to suck it up and deal with it is disgusting.
@R2DTARD77 the games industry is heading for a massive reset developers keep upping the prices and releasing crap broken games as well no way is it acceptable
You would be surprised at how much more casual gamers don't have any idea about gaming news.
It's clearly part of a conspiracy to undermine the game. Gamers are being paid to buy the game and then demand refunds. Wake up people
Humans are really dumb they bought the game knowing that s....is atrocious 😂😂
It's consistently in the top-3 best selling game list on the PS Store and is also tagged as a best seller on GameStop 😇
And this is why they release broken games like this. They cut tons of corners, didn't let anyone review the game, only showed off one of their employees playing the demo 2 weeks before release where the game broke multiple times so bad they had to turn it on "God mode" to finish it, and people STILL bought it. I'm in the wrong business.
It's 4th but that tells us nothing. Just look at the list, it's behind a game that's multiple years old and is available on ps+ extra now.
@Fiendish-Beaver
If they subtract refunds from this weeks sales it might end up in negative sales territory!
I received a "Weekly Roundup" email from Sony on Friday - I think Mindseye was the 2nd thing advertised....
A game which they are currently (according to articles) accepting refunds for...
It makes no sense.
Games alright if you brute force it with a 5090. Story is a bit generic but for £24.99 or so I’d buy it.
@CaptainWow see Switch 2. Exorbitantly priced. People complained. But it didn’t matter a single bit. This is why the industry doesn’t care if the prices are raised.
I'm enjoying it on PC, and haven't seen any bugs or framerate drops since launch.
Really weird the feedback this game has got, it has great voice acting and a solid storyline with some varied gameplay.
@Fishnpeas There's definitely a hate-jerk for this game. Not the organized, paid opposition some bigwig hilariously claimed, though.
@ButterySmooth30FPS Honestly, I don't get it.
@Fishnpeas I personally thought that this game had very few good parts. The only thing I liked was the cutscenes and voice acting. The story sounds like a generic sci-fi plot and the gameplay is quite bad.
#4 in physical media means nothing. Hogwarts Legacy sells well, but it's not selling a million copies every week. Otherwise it would have sold 100 million games or something by now.
And MindsEye was less than that.
I bet a lot of weeks there's only one chart position which has any number of sales worth speaking about. Remember even Gollum charted
Here's a rough estimate of the absolute max #4 is in sales.
Let's assume every single person in the UK owns Hogwarts Legacy - not household, not every console, every person.
And let's assume as many people are buying it this week as the first week it launched.
There's 68 million people in the UK, and Hogwarts has been on sale for 100 weeks. So that would mean #4 sold less than 680,000 copies.
If you think 1 in 10 people in the UK own a physical copy Hogwarts Legacy, we're down to #4 being at it's very most 68,000 sales already.
Now actually Hogwarts Legacy sold 870k physical copies in its first year. So a much more realistic, but still way too large, maximum number of sales for #4 would be 870k / 52 ~ 16,000 copies. That assumes legacy is selling as well this week as it sold on launch.
I don't think it's realistic to think #4 represents even 10,000 sales. I wouldn't be shocked if it was under 1k
@ThomasHL On Amazon, it sold more than 900 this past month on PS5, and Xbox more than 200. Could be on the lower end like you say though.
Nintendo bringing it. Over to you PlayStation.
The game certainly isn't as bad as people say it is. It's a solid 5/10 and is absolutely nowhere near unplayable. Some slight blurring here and there and some moderate frame drops but other than that the game ran perfectly fine with no crashes or crazy bugs. Some aspects of the game were actually pretty good tbh.
It's a shame though, because with an extra year of development this game could've been a very solid 7/10 if you ask me. I enjoyed my time with it and absolutely do not understand the absurd level of hate it's received considering at the end of the day it's just a generic, middling video game.
I can't understand all the hate towards Mindseye. Sure the combat is a bit generic but the driving is amazing. Graphics are good and the story is interesting. I've been enjoying this game so far and being 45 with 2 kids, a linear story is what I need instead of never ending open world games that can take up to 150 hours to reach the end.
@Frmknst Oh there's plenty of reasons to sh*t on this game. The fact Sony is allowing for refunds for it speaks volumes.
Removed - disrespecting others
People just have low standards, and as such we’ll continue to get messes like this because actually, the strategy works. Build a Rocketboy have made some money back.
Mario kart 8 still in the charts even with world out Nintendo known what they was doing launching that as the launch game lmao 🤣
Tbf that’s how I feel about 80% of games I see.
