If Peter Stormare tells me a place is bad news, then I pack my bags and get as far away from there as possible. Because if it's bad enough to spook Peter Stormare, it's sure as hell going to spook me.
Competition is more than just a question of specs. They will look to entice the middle ground of gamers, those inbetween the casual COD players who prioritise graphics and performance, and the serious gamers who are seeking quality experiences but aren't hardcore enough to shell out for a Pro
@LikelySatan I think the terrible localisation justifies a remake. If they fix that with this re-release then I'm in. I was reading about the problems (translators working from separate spreadsheets in different locations etc) and it's a wonder they're even playable
@LikelySatan Haha yes from a personal point of view but it remains to be seen whether it needs to exist. However it's one thing giving a ps1 game a lick of paint, but remaking games from ps3 and ps4 seems insane
Fallout 4. I'm taking a more freeform approach to it this time, just going wherever I like rather than doing quests. I've been following the remains of the railway and just seeing what I find. Enjoying it immensly.
I'll no doubt play some Dark Souls II as well, and watch some FA Cup football.
I used to leave it on for platinum trophies only. But then I realised the last trophy is usually a really grindy one and I was amassing vids of me killing some random enemy. So off it went.
I'll probably sign up and give it a go. I'm not sure yet whether the game is for me, but this sort of crowd-pleasing fare is just a sign that From Soft's output is finally gaining the popularity it deserves. Might as well get on board and celebrate.
@Darude84 I went totally new character and although it took me a while to get to the DLC (I did pretty much everything in the main game before jumping in) it was worth it. Made me appreciate the game all over again, and now that I knew the game's systems, I could make an even better character
Someone got me a Vault-Tec mug for Christmas. As a result I've downloaded Fallout 4 for a new playthrough. Because apparently that's all it takes. Dark Souls II rumbles on in the background.
Merry Christmas everybody. I've been playing Greedy Granny with my nephew, basically Buckaroo but replace the donkey with an elderly woman. You can cancel your GOTY articles guys, we have a new winner
I haven't actually played any of these, which then led me to realise that I haven't played an open world game this year. Would've been unthinkable a few years back, not to mention near-impossible with the sheer amount of them about
@Kira_Moonvalley While I wouldn't say massively let down, I do get where you're coming from. Playroom caught me completely by surprise and Bot was always going to struggle to recapture that magic a little. I also thought it was a bit on the easy side, although I'm aware it's aimed at children lol
Having said all that, I've just played the Christmas level today and it is glorious. Looking forward to tackling the speedruns later
I enjoyed it. A lot of great reveals and trailers, although the sheer amount of ads and shovelware did threaten to water down the impact at times. The Push Square live chat elevated the whole thing even further though
@FuriousMachine Lol yeah probably. Give it a few years and "Moist Critical" is what I'll be shouting at my carer when the incontinence strikes in public
@GamingFan4Lyf Was just about to say the same! Shenmue was originally supposed to feature Akira knocking about, beating fools up. Just need a spin off from this and we've come full circle
I like the look of this. Although you know you're getting old when you read the words "alongside YouTubers such as MoistCr1TiKaL" and begin to worry you're having a stroke
@Rambo-kind Twitter is the social media equivalent of three drunken hobos on a park bench with a bottle of White Lightning, shouting and sh*tting themselves
The fact that it'd only cost me a fiver to upgrade to Premium for the remainder of my sub, and yet I'm still on the fence about it, well that probably says it all.
@DrVenture69 @3Above Thanks for the suggestions folks. I've played Edith Finch, and Firewatch, loved them both. Plenty of good shouts there so I'll take a look at those. Obra Dinn is another one I'm considering
Loads of stuff. Trying out Marvel Rivals and Elite Dangerous with the kids. Also, starting Dark Souls II after finishing the first one last night.
Still going with Eiyuden Chronicle as well, which is really starting to get enjoyable around level 40 onwards.
I'm looking for some sort of walking sim style game with a bit of mystery, as a Christmas game. In the past I've done Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Dear Esther and Gone Home. Suggestions welcome!

Not got to Ragnarok yet so this is good. Wasn't expecting to see it on Plus so soon

Please, please stop remaking old games. Please.

@nessisonett Yep my eldest plays it and the teams are so unbalanced, it's all a bit daft. Great game and design though

@Darude84 I think it comes down to whether you want to jump straight into the DLC, or build up to it. Either way, you'll have a whale of a time

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 560
I'll definitely make time to try the Astro festive level. It would be rude not to give the time trials a go while I'm there. Ho ho ho.
Beyond that, Dredge, Hundred Heroes and Dark Souls II. Plus whatever the kids rope me into playing
Re: Poll: What Are Your Gaming Plans for the Holidays?
I've landed on Dredge as my Christmas indie, enjoying it so far. I'll also play the Astro level and I always try and work in some Christmas Nights

Good surprise: how much I enjoyed Animal Well.
Bad surprise: how disappointing Rise of the Ronin was (although I've only played bits of it on a friend's PS5). Thought that was a banker.
Re: Elden Ring Dev Doesn't Currently Know What's Happening with Sony Acquisition
It would be weird if he did know
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 559
Dark Souls II, Hundred Heroes, Wo Long, Astro! So much to choose from, so little time

Should be fun to see how this goes. I enjoyed Astro, Hundred Heroes and Animal Well this year.
There are a few big hitters (Silent Hill, Dragon Age) that I haven't got around to yet though
