Not had as much time for gaming recently, so I've decided to have a bit of a PS5 weekend.
I got up early this morning and played some Elden Ring, and now I'm watching my son play Elite Dangerous. Might have some Dark Souls III later, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is sitting there looking at me, begging to be started.
I bought this early because my son was mithering me to get it, it's his favourite game. I've only put about six hours in, so I've not seen any technical issues yet. My son has seen a few but nothing as bad as what's been reported by some. Nevertheless, a patch is way overdue by this stage.
I do remember having to play around the bugs when I played Fallout 3. The game remembers everything, even if you move a random item an inch. So the more you're in that world, the more the game has to do. These games get worse the more you play. The fact they've not bothered to address the issues means I'd think twice about paying full whack for a Fallout 3 remaster.
@lindos @StandardMario This isn't progress, nor is it art. It's people talking to a Star Wars baddie in Fortnite.
AI can be used as a tool for progress, definitely. But what sort of jackass wants to talk to a fictional character? Surely that misses the point of fiction? And of all the fictional characters you could choose from across all works of fiction, Darth Vader? Come on.
EDIT: In fairness, I can see the appeal of talking to Sherlock Holmes when my car gets nicked
All the recent GTA noise has got me wanting to download GTA V again and just mess about in that world.
I'm going to try and resist for as long as possible though, I've got Sniper Elite Resistance to finish up. These nazi testicles aren't going to pop themselves.
Yeah I'm looking foward to this one a lot, I'm hoping for a more grown-up story this time around and it looks like we might be getting that.
@rjejr I think the PS5 version of GTA V possibly has a first-person mode. Might want to check that, but I seem to remember it being one of the selling points of the upgrade.
Yeah people who've tried it swear by them. I've always meant to grab one but there's always been something else to buy, you know? I'll get one at some point.
@Northern_munkey Well someone's got to promote it! When people talk about immersion in gaming, I think of Dirt Rally. And I've only ever played it with a controller, god knows what it's like with a wheel
"I like Borderlands and am always willing to give a new game a shot, but the third one was absolute bobbins and made me want to shove razor blades under my fingernails just to take my mind off the writing, so now I'm a bit wary"
From what I've seen it looks like they might have dialled back the obnoxiousness and returned to what made the first one so good. I'm cautiously optimistic.
I've got this downloading today while I'm at work and I'm looking forward to actually giving it a proper go. I didn't really bother with it much first time around.
My eldest loves it and can't wait to play it, he's been mithering me to death for this
Trotting through Raya Academy in Elden Ring, an area I usually rush through. There are quite a few secrets I'd forgotten about or just outright missed. I've been taking my time and it's been quite relaxing, apart from everyone I meet trying to kill me.
Started Blue Prince properly yesterday and it's a clever little game. Probably not for everyone but me and the kids are having a laugh with it. It helps that I went in purposefully avoiding any info about it.
Hopefully it doesn't take some really sinister turn and scar the children for life, that would teach me.
I had a Sega Saturn at the time, and wanted this game for Christmas. However the Saturn release was delayed until the new year and I never got it. Had to content myself with the demo at my mate's house. Now, finally, all these years later, I can live my dream of owning Croc.
Started Kena last week, that seems fun. Also carrying on with Sniper Elite Resistance, while Elden Ring and Dark Souls III hang around in tbe background
Good wholesome nazi-testicle-popping laughs in Sniper Elite Resistance, punctuated with bouts of the cerebral Disco Elysium. I feel like I've achieved a nice life balance.
@Kraven Suikoden II improves on the formula in every way, but the first game certainly has its own feel. They share quite a few characters so it's best just to see them as two parts of a bigger journey. Enjoy!
Faith, religion and loneliness have been the main themes of many great sci-fi films. I believe gaming is an equally valid medium to film, but we need big themes to prove that.
Not all games of course, there's still room for fun. But otherwise we'll eternally be seen as sweaty lumps playing CoD in a darkened room, eating Pringles and ogling Lara Croft's boobs. And personally I only enjoy one of those things.
I wish they'd gone a bit further - parity between menus/systems as mentioned in the review, iron out some translation wrinkles, maybe add the Saturn content to Sui I (although that might not be easy from a developer point of view).
But I shouldn't complain. I'm still looking forward to playing through these again at some point.
@Migoshuro I agree to an extent. The new backgrounds jar a little with the sprites and possibly lose some of the character. I'm hoping it will look better when I'm playing it and I'll soon get used to it
@johncalmc Definitely play Sui II if you can find time for it! Properly great game

Re: 6 Bonus PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Confirmed for May, June 2025
@Jett Yeah I played San Andreas towards the end of last year and didn't have any major problems with it, certainly nothing to impact the experience.
I enjoyed being back in that world again.
Re: 6 Bonus PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Confirmed for May, June 2025
I've heard GTA III is the best-running of the three remasters. I'll definitely give that a go

Re: Elden Ring Will Get Its A24 Movie Adaptation, with Alex Garland in the Director's Seat
Damn I was hoping the Farrelly brothers would get the gig

Re: 55+ PS5, PS4 Games to Buy in PS Store's Multiverse of Games Sale
Sleeping Dogs for under a fiver is borderline ridiculous. Buy it and play it if you haven't already
Re: Ubisoft Hiring for a 'Prestigious' Big-Budget Rayman Game
I'll take it but I'd much prefer a 2D game. Origins and Legends were ace

Re: Fortnite's AI Voiced Darth Vader Is Causing More Chaos in the Games Industry
I'm guessing those who are okay with this are the kind of people who use words like "brand" in casual conversation
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 581
Should really carry on Oblivion but I'll probably just end up on Elden Ring
@somnambulance that is the single best reason I've ever heard for a replay of Red Dead II
Re: GTA 6 Fans Debating Whether Trailer 2 Teases Bonus Liberty City Map
I spotted some sand in the trailer, during a shot of a beach. If you take the letter 'd' off 'sand', what do you get...?
We're going back to San Andreas, people!
Re: Could Borderlands 4 Be an $80 PS5 Game? It 'Might' Be
The new game has double the budget of Borderlands 3? Does that mean they actually hired writers this time?

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for May 2025?
I'm almost scared to try Balatro. I quite like my social life.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 579
Playing Oblivion Remastered and I've already got further than I did back in the day. Don't know why it never clicked but it's clicking now.
Re: Poll: Are You Disappointed by the GTA 6 Delay?
Nope, works better for me if anything
Re: Codemasters 'Pausing Development' on Rally Games, EA Sports WRC Support Concludes
@Northern_munkey Haha I'll bear that in mind. Could almost buy an real live old banger at that rate
Re: Codemasters 'Pausing Development' on Rally Games, EA Sports WRC Support Concludes
Yeah people who've tried it swear by them. I've always meant to grab one but there's always been something else to buy, you know? I'll get one at some point.
Re: LittleBigPlanet Erasure Continues as Sackboy Removed from PlayStation Productions Logo
Come on Sony, we're not asking for new games and remakes. Just keep the little guy in the picture at least.
@Jrs1 Well played
Re: Codemasters 'Pausing Development' on Rally Games, EA Sports WRC Support Concludes
@Northern_munkey Well someone's got to promote it! When people talk about immersion in gaming, I think of Dirt Rally. And I've only ever played it with a controller, god knows what it's like with a wheel
Re: GTA 6 Publisher Supports Rockstar in 2026 Delay, Commits to 'Excellence'
Delay's no problem for me. This will take me into the World Cup nicely
Re: Codemasters 'Pausing Development' on Rally Games, EA Sports WRC Support Concludes
@Northern_munkey Dirt Rally 2.0 is one of the highlights of last gen for me. Massively, massively underrated game
Re: Poll: Are You Sold on Borderlands 4?
Where's the option for:
"I like Borderlands and am always willing to give a new game a shot, but the third one was absolute bobbins and made me want to shove razor blades under my fingernails just to take my mind off the writing, so now I'm a bit wary"
Feel free to change the wording on that.

My eldest loves it and can't wait to play it, he's been mithering me to death for this
Re: The Beloved Duck Detective Is Getting a Sequel, Both Games Paddling to PS5 in May
I have no interest in this game, I just wanted to express my appreciation for "Quack the case".

Hopefully it doesn't take some really sinister turn and scar the children for life, that would teach me.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 576
Elden Ring, Sniper Elite Resistance, and I'll be checking out The Blue Prince too
Re: RiME Dev Tequila Works Forced to Auction Off Assets After Bankruptcy
I've got fond memories of Rime. This is very sad to see, but if it helps people move forward then I guess it is what it is.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 575
Played A Short Hike last night, got to the "end" in one sitting but there's plenty more to be done.
A bit of Elden Ring in between, for when I fancy a bit more jeopardy about my explorations.
Re: Remaster Specialists Are Ready to Target the PS3 Next, And We Can't Wait
I'd like to see the Portal games brought together in one package
Re: Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (PS5) - Cult Favourite Platformer Returns in Robust Remaster

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 573
Not sure, I might start Kena given it's got a month left on Extra
Re: Atomfall (PS5) - British Charm Elevates Riveting Mystery
Calling the village Wyndham is a nice touch, given the societal sci-fi feel of things.
Re: Another 8 Great PS5, PS4 Games Will Leave PS Plus Extra in April
Right I'll get on Kena then
Re: Even Silent Hill F's PS5 Steelbook Is Horrible to Look At
This game looks like it's going to be a jolly jaunt
Re: Ex-Xbox System Seller Starfield Edges Ever Closer to PS5
I'll give it a go at some point, but only when it goes cheap or PS Plus.
If you'd told me in 2008 that Bethesda were making a space game I'd have been all over it. Got to check it out, just out of curiosity.

Re: Silent Hill F Revealed for PS5 in Debut Trailer
@nessisonett There's no way Pyramid Head should be in Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta. I can't believe you would even suggest that
Re: 12 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for March 2025 Announced
@AhmadSumadi Ouch, hope they didn't pay too much for it. At least it goes towards supporting the devs. Good deed for the day!
Re: 12 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for March 2025 Announced
Yep almost bought Prince of Persia a few weeks back, very happy about that. Not sure about the rest but hey ho

This has been a problem for a while, but things have come to a head with Stroke the Dik-Dik
Re: Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars (PS5) - Timeless JRPGs Ride Again
I wish they'd gone a bit further - parity between menus/systems as mentioned in the review, iron out some translation wrinkles, maybe add the Saturn content to Sui I (although that might not be easy from a developer point of view).

Re: Konami Announced a New Suikoden Game, But There's a Huge Catch
Wasn't expecting this. Not really for me, but if there's a plus side, maybe it would up our chances of a proper Suikoden sequel if it does well?
My gut feeling is it's a quick cash-in designed to raise the profile of the brand in time for the remasters, but we'll see.
Re: Terminator 2D: No Fate Looks Like a Modern Day Mega Drive Game for PS5, PS4
Yeah this looks ace. Any chance of the steelbook by itself without all the gubbins? I'm good for premium metal paperweights.
