Re: The FIFA Video Game Will Return, on Netflix of All Places

This could work to a degree. My mates and I would traditionally dig out an old pro evo or Fifa game to get us un the mood for a world cup or euros.

To people like us who only play once every couple of years, there's no point splashing out on the latest instalment. But a free netflix game with the latest players, kits etc? Maybe yeah

I know it's not cool to admit to liking it. I know the online element and artificially extended lifespan of GTA V have made it hard to like. But I've been with this series since the beginning and I just can't wait for the next one.

Closely followed by Nioh 3 and Cairn.

It's simply been going too long. How can a series possibly stay fresh after so many instalments?

The setting needs to change, whether that's going back to WWII or whatever. Or get a good writer in and make a campaign through various conflicts down the centuries, following the descendants of a soldier through different conflicts, forever tied to the futility of war. That way the multiplayer would be varied as well

Re: Going Platinum #2: The Witness

I love puzzle games but I just couldn't get my head around what The Witness was asking of me and gave up early on. I've never been one for using guides so I just left it. Since then, whenever I hear the game mentioned, it niggles away at my conscience.

This article has made me want to give it another go. It's going on my new year's resolutions list. Great reads these @Quintumply, keep them coming and get one of your colleagues to have a go once you're done

Dark souls 3. Been playing it through with my son, it's his first time playing it. Over the past year or so we've been gradually making our way through the trilogy and this morning we beat the final boss of the Ringed City DLC and then smashed the last boss of the main game proper, for good measure.

Video games get a bad rep from some corners, but in an era where so much is vying for my kids' attentions, it's good to be able to spend some quality time with them, just having a laugh playing games. This has easily been my favourite playthrough of one of my all-time favourite games.

I usually approach these things with a strategy to stop myself buying games that I won't touch untul they inevitably get cheaper or turn up on Plus.

So I'll shortlist two or three games that I'll grab if they get a decent reduction, and try to resist the rest. As others have said, it just adds needlessly to the backlog
