I also really failed to click with It Takes Two, so it's good to hear a glowing recommendation of Split Fiction from someone who didn't rave over the former
Last night I finished Still Wakes the Deep, great game. Next I'll be starting Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, the PS5 version. A very different kind of marine predator, yet just as deadly in his own way.
This could work to a degree. My mates and I would traditionally dig out an old pro evo or Fifa game to get us un the mood for a world cup or euros.
To people like us who only play once every couple of years, there's no point splashing out on the latest instalment. But a free netflix game with the latest players, kits etc? Maybe yeah
I'd love to know how many of the people who go "AI is here to stay, we need to get used to it" are simply pretending to be a bit indifferent to it, and actually really like it
I know it's not cool to admit to liking it. I know the online element and artificially extended lifespan of GTA V have made it hard to like. But I've been with this series since the beginning and I just can't wait for the next one.
After seeing this update I turned off my heating and sold my radiators. Yet it doesn't warm me up one bit. My children are freezing now. You've ruined christmas, Sony
It's simply been going too long. How can a series possibly stay fresh after so many instalments?
The setting needs to change, whether that's going back to WWII or whatever. Or get a good writer in and make a campaign through various conflicts down the centuries, following the descendants of a soldier through different conflicts, forever tied to the futility of war. That way the multiplayer would be varied as well
I love puzzle games but I just couldn't get my head around what The Witness was asking of me and gave up early on. I've never been one for using guides so I just left it. Since then, whenever I hear the game mentioned, it niggles away at my conscience.
This article has made me want to give it another go. It's going on my new year's resolutions list. Great reads these @Quintumply, keep them coming and get one of your colleagues to have a go once you're done
The problem with trying to assess this is that if you showed a newcomer the Shenmue series and asked whether they thought it was AI, they'd really struggle in places lol. And I say this as a devotee.
All we can do on this is cross our fingers and hope
Great console with a much better library than the naysayers would have you believe. But it's been a strange gen, for some reasons beyond Sony's control and some well under them. The misuse of certain studios has been criminal
So close to being a great feature. Make the rectangles optional (at present we're forced to have three minimum) and allow the theme to be displayed on any tile, not just the welcome hub, and then we're laughing
@StitchJones Haha sometimes he gets a bit annoyed by it, but that's when we turn it off and take a break for a bit. But yeah turns out it's much more fun getting your ass kicked together than on your own
Dark souls 3. Been playing it through with my son, it's his first time playing it. Over the past year or so we've been gradually making our way through the trilogy and this morning we beat the final boss of the Ringed City DLC and then smashed the last boss of the main game proper, for good measure.
Video games get a bad rep from some corners, but in an era where so much is vying for my kids' attentions, it's good to be able to spend some quality time with them, just having a laugh playing games. This has easily been my favourite playthrough of one of my all-time favourite games.
"That's a great idea! Gathering more building materials will really help my village, and can be crafted into weapons too. Go to the far corners of the map and fetch as much as you can, and bring it back to me. Let me know if you need help identifying materials!"
I really enjoyed the first game, but I haven't got around to Forbidden West yet because I know I'll go for 100% and it'll take me ages (a me problem I know)
So a live-action film appeals because it'll actually have a set end time!
Trying to be too much to too many people. It needs to go back to the likes of Modern Warfare and World at War (still my favourite entry) - just straight up, solid shooting in a warzone. But then, is that enough these days?
I usually approach these things with a strategy to stop myself buying games that I won't touch untul they inevitably get cheaper or turn up on Plus.
So I'll shortlist two or three games that I'll grab if they get a decent reduction, and try to resist the rest. As others have said, it just adds needlessly to the backlog
I sort of feel like making GTA the headline detracts from the other games. In some ways it would feel like a better month if they hadn't made such a song and dance about it.
Fact is we're getting three quality games, and I see GTA V returning as a bonus

That's a shame, I was looking forward to Tencent's defence. I was expecting the full Lionel Hutz

What am absolutely brilliant game. In the new year I usually up it to premium for the remainder of my sub. I'll be straight on this when I do

Closely followed by Nioh 3 and Cairn.

After being stuck on a puzzle in Gorogoa for most of the week, I finally cracked it this morning... and then immediately had to go out.
Can't wait to get back to it later on (and probably get stuck again!)

Re: 3 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for December 2025 Leaked Early
I can't parry to save my life in Soulsborne games, so I found Wo Long tricky.
For anyone worried about approaching it, you can equip items/armour that make your parry window larger, and easier to hit the timing.
Re: Lords of the Fallen 2 Dev 'Praying' for FromSoftware Reveal at The Game Awards, Not Behind Statue Tease
The big sun thing in the centre does look a lot like the "madness" affliction we saw in Elden Ring, which was explored further in the DLC.
However Elden Ring doesn't have crocodiles, so I'm going with Croc 3: Revenge of the Gobbos
