@FullbringIchigo Apparently game sales are up in general. It seems more people are likely to watch streaming services content and play games to keep them occupied while being isolated.
I think May would be a good time to revel, like others have said, people will be at home and it can be something to get excited about.
They should be able to put a presentation together while working from home and someone could probably take a 360°/3D video/image of the console for the presentation and website.
Most people are going to watch it on a screen anyway, so the reveal of say Horizon Zero Dawn 2, will be fine. Developers that were going to get up on a stage for this, can find a blank wall and set up a tripod in their home or whatever and record their presentation, then send it to Sony and they can piece it together.
When the presentation is over, they can set a website to go live with 360° images and articles of the different aspects of the console, with developer videos et cetera.
Edit: It will also be interesting to see what Quantic Dream's new engine demo will be like. We know they like building game engines to push the hardware and I've enjoyed their games.
It sounds like they're working on a horror game, but Gravity Rush 3 would be nice. Dreams I know. Maybe if Sony got A-1 Pictures to work on a Gravity Rush anime, it would increase its popularity.
I wonder if projects like Rain will return, that was a nice little game. Nice music too.
With the SSD being so fast, the suspend mode may be unnecessary for games. If games for the PS5 can save all the variables of what was happening at the time of quitting, then when you load the game, you're back at the same place, no reason to suspend and no reason it can't be done.
Dreams will really benefit from this too. Media Molecule may even be able to change the way levels load.
And in regards to expanding solid state storage, I hope they have more than one extra M.2 slot and that the original SSD slot is also compatible with M.2 cards, just in case it dies (I wonder if Sony will also sell official PS5 drives).
Well, I haven't tried it yet. I live in New Zealand and the app appeared on the PS4 on the same day as the US version. I downloaded it, but it just sits there. I'll try it out at some point.
@darksoul77 It would have been awesome to see the full vision of what it was meant to be. I think I read Firefly was going to be 7 seasons. Everything worked nicely with the movie and the TV series, the cast and story were so good. Sad that there isn't any more.
@darksoul77 That's true. I know Firefly's Serenity, was a box office disappointment, but it ranks high on imdb and must have had a much better home release. It's a movie I thoroughly enjoyed.
I like the idea of spending the money for a movie on a digital release instead of spending it at the cinema, but many movies may not make back their production costs. It's a tough situation, but then again, it could spark huge digital sales that counter it. But I feel like a $250 million dollar movie will less likely be made.
@gamer_since_83 You should be fine, Horizon Zero Dawn takes place thousands of years in the future, so I'm sure they would have sorted the corona virus out by then.
I have also wondered, with cases like this, was this actually an item that would be allowed to be sold at a bankruptcy auction? Was it property of Olaf Olafsson or was it really property of the Sony Corporation. No one is kicking up any fuss, it would be interesting to know. I guess it would be a corporate gift.
Meanwhile, somewhere at a Sony building, someone is looking at an entire cupboard of these and are thinking: Should we sell these? And people wondered if they actually existed! Hehehe
@thefirst It's been a while, but the different notes, audio files and Vantage Points have their own stories, it's fascinating. Reading through the Vantage Point story was interesting, what a way to go for our Vantage Point character. Can't wait for number two.

@Quintumply Out of interest, your review says at the bottom that it is a review copy provided by Sony, but did sony actually send you a copy or are you just using the updated Early Access version? If they did send you a copy, did you get some cool packaging and other bits and pieces? Thanks.
@Quintumply No, no, no! It has to be about GlaDOS and her misfortunes regarding her test subje... I mean emplye.... I mean lab workers. It's not like they were being promised to do things for cake right? Bring your daughter to work and we'll give you a piece of cake maybe, but anything else?
Horizon Zero Dawn could be an awesome one. Could even be about a guy that goes around planting Vantage points to tell his story and other things leading up to the Spoiler Alert.
Of course the other one I'd love to see is Gravity Rush as an anime and probably in Japanese, with the option of English.
European and US publishing rights are or were owned by Namco Bandai for Europe and Atlas for the United States. Not sure if the deal has expired or if Sony bought the publishing rights back or if there is a time limit on future developments for publishing rights. Sony didn't think the game was going to be a big seller and made a deal for the publishing rights apparently.
Edit: If they are working on Demon's Souls for the above. However I also love a Syphon Filter remake.
Project Siren/Team Gravity will be hard at work on something. Wishful thinking would be Gravity Rush 3, but more than likely it will be new IP or maybe a new Siren game. Whatever they are working on, it would probably be easy enough to guess that a reveal could be close.
If Sony do buy Ready At Dawn, I wonder if it's because of Asgard's Wrath (for PSVR2). And maybe RAD agreed to a buy out, with the agreement they could also make the sequel to the Order 1886. The total life time sales could quite possibly be substantial too.
I've enjoyed all the games too. I also feel Golden Abyss is under rated.
I enjoyed Uncharted 4, but I do feel that its introduction to Sam (the brother) is a story conflict for the other games. He's never mentioned in the other games and all of a sudden, even Sully is talking about him in the past tense. It's a great game, but I just think Sam could have been introduced better, without clashing against the previous games story and back story.
Might not be that big of a deal I guess, but that's my main criticism of the game.
@rjejr You're fine, I just wasn't sure if you meant the art work or the cover as a whole (in regards to the black article version). You gave everyone the original image to compare to, which is nice.
Admittedly, the black PlayStation borders and case do look a lot better than the original for Ghost of Tsushima. It's nice when they change things to match the cover.
My second paragraph about the blue borders was just about cover identification in general.
@ShogunRok Are you guys going to do a version with all of 2019's games available, because looking at the comments, it seems A Plague Tale is missing out, along with others.
If they can do wireless, that's great, but I personally think it should be an add-on. You buy your base PSVR2, then if you want wireless, you buy your wireless/battery combo or wireless PSVR2 bundle.
Do you want the battery strapped to the PSVR2 on your head or maybe latched on to your clothing. They could sell different ways of attaching it. I'm one that would rather have as few things to charge as possible and don't really like batteries or transmitters so close to my head (already have enough in the household).
Anyway, I don't think Sony have been sitting on their hands and I believe that PSVR2 should be amazing. They knew that they had to limit the first version, because of the PS4 (and value) and the PS5 sounds a lot more capable, so I believe we should expect something just as capable as the PS5. I could be dreaming, but it is my opinion, no concrete facts yet.
They could do ads with multiple titles, say Concrete Genie, Erica and MediEvil. Or a large title like Death Stranding, with a "Would you also consider Concrete Genie" at the end, for example. Could do a big blowout ad with Gravity Rush Remastered, Gravity Rush 2, Concrete Genie, Erica and other lost along the way titles. A 10 episode Gravity Rush anime would be cool too, but in Japanese, not the made up language, I feel it would get more attention that way and sound more natural.
They could add a video streaming service/app to the system and have it discounted if you have PlayStation Now, along with a possible discount on Funimation Now and I believe they also own AnimeLAB/Madman Anime and Manga Entertainment, so their services could be discounted too. Why Sony hasn't developed a mainstream video streaming service after Netflix became big is beyond me (but there are risks and if it was financially viable, it may be better to buy Netflix, but that is a lot of money). I believe that you don't need PS Plus to use multiplayer, so it would be nice too if all your free PS Plus games could be transferred between the two services.
@get2sammyb You may have already done this or have a better system. But if you don't have some sort of database set, I would copy all these titles into a spreadsheet and then you can add additional information into the different cells. And with the column for platform, if you enter at the very top or bottom of that column say, 1 PSOne, 2 PS2, 3 PS3, 4 PS4, 5 PSP 6 PS Vita in individual cells, then all you should have to do is type that number and auto fill should kick in and will hopefully save time (LibreOffice does this). Then you can set a macro/algorithm to remove the numbers or a formula to automatically display the correct information (I'm sure there is probably a shortcut system there too, as in replace 1 with PSOne, the formula system can do this too). If you go the formula route, then I would put the platform column for typing in Column A or the last column and the formula column wherever it needs to go, so you can easily avoid copying your platform input column.
Just remember when copying, to copy as what is displayed (might be call special copy (edit: originally thought paste)) and not data in cells (saves you from copying the formula, instead of the information displayed).
I hope this is help of some sort. We appreciate the work and time that you have put into this.
Well, home consoles have been dying since Sony release the original PlayStation. That's true, isn't it? I mean 500+ million consoles, compare that to chess boards or Monopoly.
But 100 million definitely deserves congratulations and I'm sure PlayStation 5 can do similar numbers. I'm hoping with the official reveal of the PS5, that they show Horizon Zero Dawn 2 (or whatever they want to call it) as their show piece. I just really want to see that. I wonder if Blue Point have a PS5 update ready to go for Shadow of the Colossus.
My favourite was version 9.35 and you'll never believe what it did either. Somehow sent me to the past, it was that stable (no StarGate or Starfleet Federation involved, ay Dusty).
It's a real shame that the Vita was never given the marketing it required. I mentioned Gravity Rush and Uncharted: Golden Abyss to a number of people and said I had been playing them on the PS Vita and the response was: never heard of it (the PS Vita and Gravity Rush). So sad.
I like the idea of relaunching as a cheaper machine and maybe a lot more onboard storage or SD card compatibility. Personally, I think the PlayStation Classic should have been a Vita base console. Setup so that it initially shows a PlayStation One environment, but has an easy access link to the PS Vita/PlayStation TV interface. The CD lid could have housed the memory card and Vita card ports.
One can dream (then create it in Dreams). Media Molecule could then create a PS Vita (playing) client for Dreams and have a PS Vita compatibility mode on the PS4 in Dreams that can port games to PS Vita.
I wonder if they will have any tricks for open world loading screens, because until you hit "Fast Travel" it won't know where you are going. It could guess though. You're doing a side quest, you need such and such, so it loads an area that you might go to or partially load multiple areas, then when selected, load the remaining.
As for the custom SSD they're talking about. If the have two drives a standard hard drive and a SSD for caching an entire game, there's no reason that they couldn't make it big enough for multiple games and keep them there until it becomes full and you need to play another game (out with the old, in with the new).
Well, there probably is a lot of non-technical business processes too, but they do want to avoid any embarrassments of a botched cross-play. It may be different to their PC cross-play and so they may have wanted to make sure that there was as little security risks as possible. Wouldn't want a repeat of the large scale hack that happened a number of years ago.
I think Kenichiro Yoshida comments didn't help, because he didn't seem to be informed of what PlayStation was actually doing.
But who knows what Sony have been doing. A lot of us are really just speculating.
@kyleforrester87 Another way to look at it is, what if Sony spends the money to make the emulator and it doesn't run well. Then they have potentially wasted a large amount of money that could have gone towards something else. However, my thought is, why not spend the money anyway, because if it doesn't work on the PS4, it may very well work on the PS5. The basic structure would be there and they would just have to update the code and continue working until it runs smoothly. The PS5 should be quite a bit more powerful. And who knows, maybe Sony have done this?
I actually think that it is possibly that Sony were listening to a lot of people, in regards to PS Now and thought, what if consoles don't do that well this time round and is there a separate market for this (in addition to backwards compatibility)? Other companies are jumping on this game streaming market, but with Sony adding the download option and removing devices, it does bring into question whether this is a sector that is really going to do well or not. At the end of the, we want games that run well and push many boundaries and companies keep building more and more powerful consoles to achieve this. Food for thought anyway.
@FantasyMeister Before I downloaded it, I was expecting 75GB or so, but the PS4 game home screen tells me that the game takes up 43.5GB. Maybe that amount is meant to include Heavy Rain?
Remember that you can also hook up a USB3 external Hard Drive. Just a shame that these new consoles don't come with 2TB drives minimum.
Anyway, great game and an interesting look behind the curtain.
I'm not a fan of the idea of streaming my games, but I'm not discounting the future of where it could go and there's always a market for it.
I like my consoles and I don't see them disappearing anytime soon, but I think there's a possibility that companies like Sony could start integrating consoles into their TVs (in addition to consoles) and like others have said, you could have smart logins, where all your save data and preferences can be shared with every PlayStation device in your house that you have associated with. Now it's just an idea, but 10 years could look very different and may have gone in a completely different direction that no one had imagined.
Digital purchases are increasing and if places that sell games and consoles, start to question why they would sell consoles if it's not beneficial for them, they may stop. Console makers either have to make the console beneficial for stores, sell them direct, buy stakes in stores that can sell them or dream up some other way.
Gaming stores still sell merchandise and whatnot, so selling consoles to generate interest in games that they sell merchandise for, is still a good reason to continue selling consoles for them. So as long as there is money to be made somewhere, stores will still sell consoles.
The future is unknown, but there are all sorts of possibilities and hints to what could unfold. As long as these companies don't annoy their customers and do what customers will embrace, they will stay in healthy business.
I read somewhere a few years ago, that Guerrilla Games had a second team working on something else. I wonder if that team is still going or if their project was canceled and they moved to Horizon development? Would be interesting to know if they are still going.
I quite enjoyed this one, so I hope it happens (film or series), even if it's in addition to the Tom Holland one. I hope they get Emily Rose and Claudia Black to play their respective characters, if this gets made.
I was fine with Stephen Lang as Sully, but imagine if they got Richard McGonagle, that would be awesome!
@Bamf It really is amazing what you can get done when you don't have distractions. I've actually thought to myself at times, that if I had never got the internet connected, I'd be better off. Mind you, I seem to be one of these people that do things and wonder why it took two or three times longer than it should have.
@Bamf That sounds harsh. I wonder how wide spread the problem is. Shame you can't play your PS4 on the other TV.
@BAMozzy Maybe they'll develop a heat sink and ventilation system that reduces the need for a noisy fan and develop a nice integrated system where the TV can use the PS#'s RAM, CPU, GPU, et cetera without taxing the system too much. It's the CPU and GPU that are responsible for generating the most heat, the PSU does create heat, but I wouldn't think it would create too much. But anyway this is the future we're talking about, anything is possible, dare we dream and wonder.
Edit: The streaming service is another possibility of the future, so nothing stopping that from becoming reality. Just like VR, they must be doing research to improve it and could become a more common service to consumers.
@BAMozzy Re Console TV: You're right in regards to the heat and the weight/size problem, but if it was a specific range of TVs, then people would know what to expect and they could potentially stick a larger cooling system in it. There is also the possibility of removing redundant components from the TV or console. But whether or not they could actually get the heat and noise balance right at this stage, I guess is more unlikely.
I personally wouldn't buy one, because if I want to update the TV, I wouldn't have to worry about the console. But if the TV market heads in the same direction as the cellphone market, in 15 years it may have happened. TVs are already doing things beyond their original function.
This is just food for thought and speculation, because you see so many devices and systems change over the years. Many DVD and Blu-ray buyers would have sworn that physical media is the only way to go, but many probably use Netflix more nowadays. And why would you stick a camera in a cellphone, it will never produce good results, but here we are.
They could have built the PS Vita TV into some of their TVs and that might have worked out better for the platform, along with a sizable memory storage (at least 64GB built in).
@Paranoimia Yeah true, that would be sad. They maybe could develop an after TV death backup system or extra hardware attached to the hard drive that identifies that it is not a copy, so that you can use it in another TV/console.
I wonder if Sony would integrate the next or current console into a range of TVs, because if you can buy a TV with your console already installed, with extra hard drive compartments and other connections, it would be one more way to play and Sony could potentially reduce cost of parts and the problem of game shops selling less games, with the question of what if they decide not to sell consoles because of it. Potentially the reason for digital new releases being so high in price, is to keep the retailers who sell their consoles happy.
Well, I'm voting for Nate. Really thought Sully would have made it further. Sully vs Nate and I think I would seriously consider choosing Sully.
Sad about the bot thing, but I guess for the next "Ultimate Poll" they can setup requirements, eg you have to make a comment on every poll or your account has to be verified to vote.
But Aloy is worthy of winning, so lets keep it fun!

I think May would be a good time to revel, like others have said, people will be at home and it can be something to get excited about.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Comes with a Beautiful Reversible PS4 Cover in a Few Territories
@LiamCroft And New Zealand too

They should make it standard (reversible covers) or let people vote on the final cover.
Re: PS4 Has Officially Sold 100 Million Units, and It's Done So Faster Than Any Other Console
Re: PS4 Firmware Update 6.72 Is Available to Download Now
My favourite was version 9.35 and you'll never believe what it did either. Somehow sent me to the past, it was that stable (no StarGate or Starfleet Federation involved, ay Dusty).
Re: PS Vita's Not Quite Done Yet, Despite Reports to the Contrary
Re: Sony Patent Shows How Loading Screens Could Be Killed Off on PS5
I wonder if they will have any tricks for open world loading screens, because until you hit "Fast Travel" it won't know where you are going. It could guess though. You're doing a side quest, you need such and such, so it loads an area that you might go to or partially load multiple areas, then when selected, load the remaining.
As for the custom SSD they're talking about. If the have two drives a standard hard drive and a SSD for caching an entire game, there's no reason that they couldn't make it big enough for multiple games and keep them there until it becomes full and you need to play another game (out with the old, in with the new).
Re: No, Enabling Cross-Play Isn't as Easy as People Like to Think, Says PlayStation Boss
Re: PS Now's PS3 Games Can't Be Downloaded, 'Not Compatible' with PS4
Re: David Cage Offers Behind the Scenes Look at Detroit: Become Human's Complex Branching Narrative
Re: Streaming Devices Will Kill Traditional Consoles Within the Next 10 Years, Says EA
Re: Gravity Rush 2's Servers Unceremoniously Shut Down After 18 Months
@RainbowGazelle Interestingly enough, you didn't need PS Plus to access the online features of any of the Gravity Rush games. Still sad though.
Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn Dev Guerrilla Expanding, Moving to New Five-Floor Office
I read somewhere a few years ago, that Guerrilla Games had a second team working on something else. I wonder if that team is still going or if their project was canceled and they moved to Horizon development? Would be interesting to know if they are still going.
Re: Sony Completes Turnaround with 10 Year Stock High
@Bamf Awesome! Productivity is over rated anyway! Who needs a clean house.
Re: Uncharted Fan Film Sparks Digital Series Discussions
I quite enjoyed this one, so I hope it happens (film or series), even if it's in addition to the Tom Holland one. I hope they get Emily Rose and Claudia Black to play their respective characters, if this gets made.
I was fine with Stephen Lang as Sully, but imagine if they got Richard McGonagle, that would be awesome!
Re: Sony Completes Turnaround with 10 Year Stock High
@Bamf It really is amazing what you can get done when you don't have distractions. I've actually thought to myself at times, that if I had never got the internet connected, I'd be better off. Mind you, I seem to be one of these people that do things and wonder why it took two or three times longer than it should have.
Re: Sony Completes Turnaround with 10 Year Stock High
Re: Sony Completes Turnaround with 10 Year Stock High
Re: Sony Completes Turnaround with 10 Year Stock High
@BAMozzy I believe you're talking about their Crystal LED display technology. They have actually made a commercial product with that called CLEDIS (Crystal Light Emitting Diode Integrated Structure). You can connect multiple panels together to make one big one. Sounds amazing, it would be cool to have a home version of that. https://blog.sony.com/2016/05/sony-redefines-high-end-visual-display-technology-with-a-new-canvas-for-creativity/
Re: Poll: Ultimate PlayStation Character Tournament: Final 4 - Match 126
Well, I'm voting for Nate. Really thought Sully would have made it further. Sully vs Nate and I think I would seriously consider choosing Sully.
Sad about the bot thing, but I guess for the next "Ultimate Poll" they can setup requirements, eg you have to make a comment on every poll or your account has to be verified to vote.
But Aloy is worthy of winning, so lets keep it fun!
