@BansheeNorn The Ultimate version for PS5 is the only version with Spider-man Remastered, but I remember somewhere saying that there would be an upgrade option from standard to Ultimate. Not sure how much the Ultimate upgrade will cost.
Miles Morales standard edition costs the same on both PS4 and PS5 and both will get you a copy for both PS5 and PS4 (two copies) and the Ultimate is the same in regards to Miles Morales.
The trophy list is different for Spider-man Remastered, so that might be the reason why they don't have cross-save. 🙁
Three weeks to go until it's released! I'm looking forward to playing it, especially with the new controller.
@Rob_230 Media Molecule's Dreams has a type of ray tracing. Put a light source in your level and it will interact with everything it touches and create shadows and I guess reflections too, depending on the properties of the object.
From the NZ PlayStation website for Spider-man: Miles Morales:
Download the PS4™ version of this game at no extra cost when you buy the digital PS5™ version from PlayStation™Store. Buy the digital PS4™ version of this game from PlayStation™Store and download the PS5™ version at no extra cost when it launches on 12 November 2020. If you already own the PS4™ version, you do not need to pre-order the PS5™ version of this game. PS4™ game disc owners can access this offer by inserting the disc into their PS5™ console. PS4™ game disc owners who buy the PS5™ Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to access this offer.
We'll find out in three and a half weeks. Can't wait, so to speak.
I am wondering, if I buy Miles Morales on PS5, do I get a PS4 version, like cross buy or is it just one version. And if I upgrade from PS4 to PS5 does the PS4 version stay intact. One can hope I guess.
@TrolleyProblems I was thinking if the SSD is capable of loading a level in a matter of seconds, loading a save file won't take much longer and on the home screen of the game you could have the options of Start Game and Resume [from where you left off], which ignores normal start up.
Well, at the moment, the PS4 stores the suspended data in a large storage system, so that if you shut the PS4 off properly, it wipes it. If there is a limit to how many games you can suspend at once and it says that you can only store these in rest mode, then it must take up a lot of space.
If a suspended game (on the PS5) is storing a clone copy of the data ready to load what is essentially a paused game, it would (or could) be large, but if it could store everything in text (or whatever) and be capable of restoring everything as is, it would be much smaller and with a SSD capable of 5GB/s it might be able to load it without any noticeable time difference.
But like you say, the storing technology is unknown, so it will be interesting to see how it will work. You would hope it would store a save file, like you were saying and not a snapshot of part of the game like the PS4 does (it is a little different, I believe).
So it could be storing a clone/snapshot of a paused game versus loading a save file that gives you the same result or something in combination or something else completely different.
I now also like the idea of, in addition to to a Start and Resume button, the idea of a rewind button: what was I doing? Or I made a mistake pausing it there, on resume I will surely die.
This has been fun contemplating the possibilities of what the future of resuming and saving games could be.
@TrolleyProblems I may be over thinking it. But the idea is to have save system that is continuously saving and act just like a suspended or paused game, but without limit on number of games or have any problems if you turned your console off to go to sleep, work or maybe you unplugged it to move it to another room and continued playing there or saved the save file to a USB drive or online and continued on a different PS5.
If the power got cut and you were playing a game, when you next boot up your console you could continue like you had just paused the game. Maybe in these cases it could also ask if you wanted to go back a few minutes, so that you could get back in the right rhythm and if starting from exactly where you were is not a very good option you could also reset to a check point.
So basically it would be Quick resume/suspended/paused like, but built into the save system. Start playing a game and even if it was a year later, you could start the game from cold and it would jump in like it had been paused for a year instead of closed. Just a resume button and no start up sequence or pages asking for options.
Saving this data may create huge save files, but if you look at media molecule's Dreams, where an entire level can be measured in kilobytes, then it might be possible to reduce the size with outside the box thinking.
I think it would be nice if saves evolved to the point where you could save your quit point (with everything stored, including what was happening) and have the option of loading the game from where you quit or the normal save point/check point. With the super fast SSD it could make quick resume partially redundant. Problem could be the size of the save data could be huge, you'd have to have an option to either save normally or "quick resume" save. Then again all it takes is one genius to figure out how to do it economically, think media molecule's Dreams, maybe they could come up with a solution to this?
@theheadofabroom True, true to the connectivity and requirements of the extra speed to be able to match the PS5's drive.
But if the hypothetical slot for Sony's custom drive is different to the M.2 slot then it could be more capable. It could have 10 times the amount of contacts in the slot and be capable of delivering the data at optimal efficiency. True that being soldered on would be more efficient and it is quite likely what they'll do, but doesn't rule out other options.
Sony may have extra chips to prepare the data that comes off of the M.2 cards and Sony's drive may not need any extra chips for this.
What I meant previously wasn't for the cards to both connect to the M.2 slot, but to use the same bay and potentially some of the same contacts, but have more contacts for the Sony card and bypass any M.2 related systems.
But we'll have to wait and see what the solution will be. It can be slotted and be more efficient than the M.2 interface. Can't wait for the tear down, to see what the inside is like.
I'm personally hoping for a slot, so that when the drive fails, I can replace it without having to do surgery on the poor thing.
What will be interesting is if the PS5 has multiple M.2 slots and if the PS5's custom drive is removable or integrated onto the motherboard.
It is possible that the M.2 slots/chip could be designed in a way to recognise whether an M.2 card or PS5 custom drive/card is inserted. It could be a two slots in one system and they just use the appropriate chips.
With the above situation, Sony could sell their own drives as well. If the Sony drive fails, it would be nice to be able to replace it or for the system to ignore it and point to the M.2 card.
The M.2 cards will probably require you to remove the white panel to install. The chips will get quite warm, so the ventilation/cooling system should be designed to keep these chips cooler as well.
@PSfanboy1992 not sure myself, but I'd be more inclined to think that you would crack the top white panel off to access the M.2 slot. We'll find out soon. I hope we'll have two or three extra slots.
@KidBoruto In Amy Hennig's version it seems that Sam was more estranged to Nate, so something happened in their relationship to be ignored and possibly Sully didn't know Sam in her version. She said it was about reconciliation between the two.
I do agree that Sam's inclusion is good for the story, but a change of some occurrences would help it along in regards to his appearance. Maybe instead of just breaking and entering, Nathan wanted to knock on the door during the day and ask about the item and Sam convinced him it was a bad idea and all that happened in the current game leading to her death happened and Nathan was furious, because they could have avoided it and she had more to tell him and boom, they are estranged and any other encounters are met with the same outcome. Then the story could still be very similar and it would explain why we hadn't heard of Sam.
But I am still pretty happy with the game, so I wouldn't want to change it too much. I just think either occurrences or relationship with Sam could have been tweaked to make more sense of his sudden appearance. Without him it would be a different game, so that would be sad.
@KidBoruto "Origin story, it has been stated multiple times that this will be a prequel to the games, with Tom Holland playing as a much younger Nathan Drake."
Ah yes, I know, I just meant his relationship with his brother when he was young and how his connection will be presented and possibly the reason why we haven't heard of him before Uncharted 4.
I realised after the first reply that I hadn't addressed your first concern with my post.
@KidBoruto But I feel Uncharted 4 kind of says: by the way Nathan, you have an older brother. You've had a few adventures together and you changed your last name when you were young to avoid being falsely charged with potentially a murder or breaking and entering, which lead to death. You were left with Sullivan after the pickpocketing and the museum incident and Sam just visits on occasion, but not enough to be remembered for general conversation. And somehow Sam is still alive after what happened in the prison, not the disappearance, but the grudge of what may happen to inmates for the reason he is there (keeping it vague, for spoilers).
I enjoyed playing Uncharted 4, but that brotherly connection for me, just seems a little off. The movie could show more of a connection and change how I feel about it.
I'm looking forward to it, hopefully they've crafted a solid script.
I wonder if it will be an origin story with or without Sam? The first three games (and Golden Abyss) have no mention of a brother and his appearance in Uncharted 4 (to me) doesn't seem properly connected to the other games. Sam being a friend (or just a fellow orphan) instead of a brother, I believe, may have worked better from my point of view.
With the way Sully talks about the past, I feel he would have mentioned Sam and I guess that's where I feel a bit disconnected with his connection to the games and his relationship as Nathan's brother.
So it will be interesting if we see a Sam character, hear about a Sam character or if he is ignored.
@nookie_egg I'm not sure if you're joking about the controller playing CDs. But if it is the console, like I'm thinking, then it will probably be missing the diode to emit the necessary laser. That, I believe, is the same reason that the PS4 couldn't play CDs.
On the topic of the wireless capabilities, yay! It's always good to know it's capable. Although, I guess it's sad we can't pop out the chip and aerial like an expansion card (eg: PCI, M.2, et cetera) and replace it. But I don't really care about that, my wish is that it will have two or three M.2 slots (at least). Fingers crossed 🤞.
@Octane I can imagine: Executive 1: I've ordered this prototype katana for the office competition, we'll give 50 of them away for completing the Platinum.
Executive 2: Nice, that's awesome. Wow, I actually want one of these too.
Health and Safety person: Just wait a minute, what are you doing with that sword? That'll have to be wrapped in 20 layers of towelling and you can't give it away, imagine what could happen in the office!
No, give me a look at that. You can give away the hand guard, but that's it.
Now I'm just going to wrap this in the towelling (as they suspiciously whistle away with the katana).
@TheFrenchiestFry Marvel approached Sony, then Sony approached Insomniac Games and asked if they wanted to work on a Marvel property, not necessarily Spider-man.
@NomNom They could, I don't think there is any restrictions. It might seem weird being characters like Batman, but they have made other comic book movies. Bloodshot is one example.
A Batman and Spider-man movie is probably out of the question. If it is okay, hopefully they don't read this. ???
Surely there's a publisher out there that would be a perfect fit for it.
Part of me was thinking Sony could buy it, but ramp the deal up. $8 billion, but also includes DC Comics, DC Comics movies, Lord of the Rings full rights and movies and their TV wing.
But the sad thing would be things going exclusive, that weren't exclusive and other concerns. Maybe Sony might make multi-platform LEGO games?
But I really want Monolith Games (or whoever) to remaster/remake/port F.E.A.R, well it doesn't have to be Monolith. Someone buy Warner Games that will put F.E.A.R on PS5 and PS4 and I'll be happy.
I feel like a lot of these predictions that have come up true, are just people guessing and getting lucky. Otherwise, Sony could be sick of it too and have put false information out there to see where the leaks are coming from or just to discredit some of these people that have apparent reliable sources. It must be frustrating to work on a reveal, then have someone else reveal it like it was their right to.
@Areus I remember someone saying to try and buy it through a web browser, instead of the PS4. Apparently that worked for the Uncharted collection. Worth a try, even to find out if it works. Good luck.
@Alinikookaz interestingly enough, Sony have never owned Crash Bandicoot or Spyro, they published them for Universal Games I believe. Unless you mean they should have bought Universal Games, which I was sad they didn't.
I came to the thought that when you finish a game, the game generates a code that you could use, for example, with your phone, then a website could use that to verify that you had finished the game and what version. The code could be valid for a certain amount of time, say 20 minutes, then give you maybe a day to write the review or whatever (or maybe a couple of hours, being just user reviews). Then sites can have a verified filter or/and verified rating. Maybe even have a way to generate a code halfway through and it pops up in the not completed verified reviews (eg. verified 60% complete - main story only).
Or I guess the PlayStation Store ratings should be a good system too, because not too many people are going to buy the game to give it a bad rating, though you never know.
It's a pity that you can't write reviews on the PS Store after you buy it or play it. I guess you could still have a relative or friend that hated the game and hijacked your account, but hopefully that wouldn't happen too often.
Maybe the physical version will come with an extra disc or two for the PS5 data if needed (depends on how big a patch will be to take advantage of the next gen consoles or if they recompile it completely for the next gen consoles) and you load it up and then the PS4 disc has the licences for both versions. Pop the PS4 disc in a PS5 and it could ask you to insert the PS5 data disc or if you wanted to download the data via the network, then the PS4 disc would be used to launch either versions of the game. Just an idea of how it could work.
@sanderev Sorry, I just realised what you meant in your reply. What I was meaning was the naming of Digital vs Standard console naming and how they may have come to that conclusion of naming, not what you were talking about in regards to analogue. Sorry again for the confusion.
@sanderev I wasn't meaning the opposite, I was really just saying they could be thinking about how the data is obtained. For example, you go to the store, buy your game, take game home, place game disc/case on shelf, pop disc out of case, place in console disc drive. It all has to be done physically by a person in order to get your game data on the SSD/HDD, but if you don't have a disc drive then you can only get your data from a server through the network. That's what I meant, but I do agree that they should probably just call it disc-less to avoid confusion. It was just one alternative thought of how they could be thinking. Sorry for the confusion.
@sanderev I guess you could say delivery system. Digital only is via the PlayStation network and the optical disc option also has the option of a disc that you physically put in the machine. One way of thinking anyway.
I'll probably get the disc version and add the extra compatible M.2 cards that Mark Cerny was talking about (minimum of 7GB/s) when they become more affordable or I run out of space. Hopefully there will be more than one extra M.2 slot.
I can watch it live, because luckily it'll be 8am on Friday and no work. Should be good and hopefully that horror game that is rumoured to be made by Japan Studios is Gravity Rush 3. It's more likely to be another Siren game or maybe Silent Hill, but I can dream.
Well, I've got lots of games to finish and despite having lots of time, I don't game as much as I would like to.
But I have played some games more than once. I Platinumed Gravity Rush twice, first on the Vita, then on the PS4. Funnily enough, I wasn't initially going to try and Platinum the PS4 version, but I started doing the challenges and before you know, might as well get those last few trophies. Same deal with the Uncharted collection, but I haven't got stuck into the third game yet. And also Horizon Zero Dawn and of course Dreams.

@Octane I can imagine:
Executive 1: I've ordered this prototype katana for the office competition, we'll give 50 of them away for completing the Platinum.
Executive 1 and 2: Damn.
Re: Insomniac Dev Is Using Dreams to Make a Ratchet & Clank Game
This is cool. I wonder how long he's been working on it?
When the PS5 version of Dreams hits, maybe Bend Studios can do Syphon Filter.
Re: Relax, Warner Bros Games Is No Longer for Sale
@TheFrenchiestFry Marvel approached Sony, then Sony approached Insomniac Games and asked if they wanted to work on a Marvel property, not necessarily Spider-man.
Here's the article (source IGN): https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2018/09/insomniacs_boss_wasnt_initially_that_fussed_about_making_a_marvel_game
Re: Random: Ghost of Tsushima Player Creates 'Ishikawa Stock', a Super Advanced Tactic for Storing Arrows
Sensei, will you store my extra arrows for me?
Accepting this request, was a decision he regretted.
Re: EA Could Be Considering Warner Bros Gaming Division Buyout
@Severian probably, they'll all have mothers with that name, how else could they relate.
Re: EA Could Be Considering Warner Bros Gaming Division Buyout
@Severian ah yes, that's on another level. Very dark times for Peter.
Re: EA Could Be Considering Warner Bros Gaming Division Buyout
@Severian Could be a movie about which is worse, Spider-man's angsting or Batman's brooding.
Re: EA Could Be Considering Warner Bros Gaming Division Buyout
@NomNom They could, I don't think there is any restrictions. It might seem weird being characters like Batman, but they have made other comic book movies. Bloodshot is one example.
A Batman and Spider-man movie is probably out of the question. If it is okay, hopefully they don't read this. ???
Re: EA Could Be Considering Warner Bros Gaming Division Buyout
Re: Rumour: Next PS5 Event Pegged for 6th August, But We're Not Convinced
I feel like a lot of these predictions that have come up true, are just people guessing and getting lucky. Otherwise, Sony could be sick of it too and have put false information out there to see where the leaks are coming from or just to discredit some of these people that have apparent reliable sources. It must be frustrating to work on a reveal, then have someone else reveal it like it was their right to.
Re: Deal: Get Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for Free on PSN Store
@Areus @huyi this is the article in which I was referring to https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/04/reminder_claim_your_free_copies_of_uncharted_journey_even_if_theyre_in_your_ps4_library hope this helps, but I have no idea.
Re: Deal: Get Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for Free on PSN Store
@huyi That's a shame. They really should make a way to obtain these free titles.
Re: Deal: Get Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for Free on PSN Store
@Areus I remember someone saying to try and buy it through a web browser, instead of the PS4. Apparently that worked for the Uncharted collection. Worth a try, even to find out if it works. Good luck.
Re: Age Rating and Box Art Leak Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
@Alinikookaz interestingly enough, Sony have never owned Crash Bandicoot or Spyro, they published them for Universal Games I believe. Unless you mean they should have bought Universal Games, which I was sad they didn't.
Re: Of Course The Last of Us 2 Is Being Review Bombed
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed Yet Again to 19th November
Maybe the physical version will come with an extra disc or two for the PS5 data if needed (depends on how big a patch will be to take advantage of the next gen consoles or if they recompile it completely for the next gen consoles) and you load it up and then the PS4 disc has the licences for both versions. Pop the PS4 disc in a PS5 and it could ask you to insert the PS5 data disc or if you wanted to download the data via the network, then the PS4 disc would be used to launch either versions of the game. Just an idea of how it could work.
Re: Age Rating and Box Art Leak Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time
I had assumed that that cover was a joke in response to the Crash Bandicoot jigsaw tease.
Either way, it will be good to see a new Crash game.
Re: PS5 Digital Edition Exists for Consumers Who 'Purchase Solely Digitally'
@sanderev Sorry, I just realised what you meant in your reply. What I was meaning was the naming of Digital vs Standard console naming and how they may have come to that conclusion of naming, not what you were talking about in regards to analogue. Sorry again for the confusion.
Re: PS5 Digital Edition Exists for Consumers Who 'Purchase Solely Digitally'
@sanderev I wasn't meaning the opposite, I was really just saying they could be thinking about how the data is obtained. For example, you go to the store, buy your game, take game home, place game disc/case on shelf, pop disc out of case, place in console disc drive. It all has to be done physically by a person in order to get your game data on the SSD/HDD, but if you don't have a disc drive then you can only get your data from a server through the network. That's what I meant, but I do agree that they should probably just call it disc-less to avoid confusion. It was just one alternative thought of how they could be thinking. Sorry for the confusion.
Re: Yes, the PS5 Can Be Placed On Its Side
They did actually show the PS5 laying down in the PS5 event video at 1:13:15 or 1:23 of the closing sizzle reel.
Re: PS5 Digital Edition Exists for Consumers Who 'Purchase Solely Digitally'
@sanderev I guess you could say delivery system. Digital only is via the PlayStation network and the optical disc option also has the option of a disc that you physically put in the machine. One way of thinking anyway.
I'll probably get the disc version and add the extra compatible M.2 cards that Mark Cerny was talking about (minimum of 7GB/s) when they become more affordable or I run out of space. Hopefully there will be more than one extra M.2 slot.
Re: PS5 Now Has Its Own Custom Twitter Hashtags
I can watch it live, because luckily it'll be 8am on Friday and no work. Should be good and hopefully that horror game that is rumoured to be made by Japan Studios is Gravity Rush 3. It's more likely to be another Siren game or maybe Silent Hill, but I can dream.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Could just be considered a simple acoustic version.
Re: Feature: The PS4 Games We Keep Coming Back To
Well, I've got lots of games to finish and despite having lots of time, I don't game as much as I would like to.
