@Ambassador_Kong Goat Simulator - The Series or Movie: Not even the network recommend you watch this show, the CEO says he's resigning after watching it.
Edit: This is a joke in regards to the quotes that the trailer of the game has and not that a Goat Simulator series or movie would be bad. Could be fun.
I have had the thought that they could move the game library to the left, so that when you start the console you can access it straight away. Hit enter to access, go right for recent games and left for the PS Store.
I fear that they might be afraid of splitting the community with a true PS5 version (and PC) that elevates its true potential (super fast SSD that expands size of a level and size of the assets and the speed it can access them. Potentially a near infinite open world.)
I think this highlights why apparent people of the community, that have connections to the inside, should be ignored, especially when it comes to events and announcements.
Can you imagine a group of people, putting a lot of effort to create a surprise for the community, but everybody now knows, because of a leak, so they must end up feeling disappointed. Or in this case, it's possibly a phantom announcement, we have no proof they were going to announce it. Hell, it could have been a employee's birthday party and someone heard "event or surprise on this date", oh, I'll tell someone. Or it could be someone just pulling out a date and going, there's a chance this is going to be the day, if I'm wrong, I'll say that they decided to delay it.
I reckon better advertising, at least 32GB storage on board, SD card to expand and I also reckon they should have considered sticking some extra shoulder buttons on. The reality is that they were trying to make it as portable as possible, but I I wouldn't have minded a bulkier version, with handle grips built on and meatier shoulder buttons. If they made it today, I'd hope they do this, with a bigger screen I guess.
When I bought mine, I also bought some clip on handle grips.
Horizon series could be built using the Decima Engine. They don't have to worry about hardware restraints, so they can up the quality of the assets. Not sure how expensive that would be. Get the extra expertise and the series could be built in house.
@Juanalf Put it on Crunchyroll. It's not anime or Asian drama, so it's kind of a joke, but there's potential if they added a general movies and TV add-on subscription.
I've thought to myself, they could do the add-on subscription for general movies and TV and just put on the titles that other services aren't fighting over. They've got 1000s of titles you can't watch anywhere (subscription), so why not a cheap option on crunchyroll or you watch it with ads.
This is why I wish streaming apps and media information websites would show users ratings/freshness instead of the critics. In fact, I reckon Rotten Tomatoes should feature the users ratings as the main ratings.
@uptownsoul I believe that Constantin Films are the ones that own the movie rights and Sony is just distributing the films. They might throw a bit of money in for product placement too.
But I can see how it appears Sony makes the films. Many distributors are blamed for ruining a film or making a great film, but are really just distributing them and have little to no involvement (not to say they can't have a lot of involvement).
The mobile version will have you grip the phone like a baseball bat handle and you'll be able to swing using the gyroscope, the phone will slip out of your hand while hitting a home run, hitting the big burly guy sitting at the front of the bus, he'll get up and a brawl will be activated and the crowd goes wild (on the app) . Fun for all!
Decided to take the plunge, the free movie ticket gave an excuse to justify the purchase of the upgrade. It only took 30 minutes to download, but haven't played it much, still have to finish Kena.
@RawnDawn I was one of the people that thought this game would light the sales on fire and should be kept an exclusive.
I think it's done well enough, but I'm now realising what a PC port could do and agree, port to PC and give us a PS5 version. With the expanded capabilities of the PS5 hardware, the super fast storage and larger memory could mean easier to create open world sized levels and it will be easier in general, especially with community assets.
You can dream the magic in Dreams or play the magic of others' Dreams.
It's crazy times. This could hurt Sony, but it might not be as bad as many have predicted.
Maybe Sony should look at getting a war game up and running. It seems people like war games based on actual wars or grounded in similar history.
But other than that, like others have said maybe a Square Enix, Capcom or Kadokawa acquisition.
That said, how much can Microsoft spend? It wouldn't be the first time a large corporation went and made itself bankrupt. Microsoft is embedded in people's lives quite well, so it probably isn't likely, but it's an interesting side view.
Loved these games. Would be nice to get a third entry, but I can dream.
I'd love to get an anime, but preferably in Japanese and other existing languages. The made up language in the second game doesn't sound natively spoken to me and a bit awkward.
I think maybe we could throw an extra phrase in for titles like Shadow of the Colossus and Crash Bandicoot. Something like Rebuild. Maybe not in the title, but when asking what it is: Is it a Remake, Remaster, Reboot or a Rebuild.
A house being remastered, is a coat of paint and some repairs, replace the lights and plumbing, et cetera.
A house remake is demolishing the old house and basing the new build on the original house.
Reboot the house is a new house, with the base idea of the old house, but may end up looking different.
And a rebuild could be building the house exactly the same, but with new materials to make it look like a house that was built for today.
Just a thought anyway, might not be best description and not sure if it sounds right, but I've typed it now, so...
@oconnoclast AnimeLab has been merged into Funimation and the AnimeLab service will soon disappear. It's the same with Manga Entertainment UK streaming platform I believe. So they're merging all the smaller platforms I suppose. If I can have one subscription for both Funimation and Crunchyroll, that would be great. I believe Sony could add an extra subscription (or ad based) for a heap of movies and TV series they already own. They can keep doing their licensing deals with Netflix and Disney, but why not put some older titles or shows that the competition didn't want on the service. Something like "The Player" could have been finished off properly, instead of cut short.
@themightyant well, this seems to be a fun topic. I do feel like I've heard something similar to Second Party relations, actually it's probably external studio relations that I've heard. Would actually be interesting to listen to the staff room chatter, probably eye opening.
@sanderson72 I've actually always wondered how much input games like Everybody's Golf actually gets (or got) from Japan Studios and XDEV. I know there's a long credit list, but a lot of games have these from Sony and Clap Hanz have been making these games for a while. So it might not be as difficult as it might seem.
I believe they did say about keeping a number of staff for what essentially would be XDEV Japan (part of the worldwide XDEV Team).
But never mind, it is likely we won't get another one. Just depends on who organises the games to be made. There was just a lot of potential left.
@sanderson72 yes, Japan Studios closing sucks. Very sad.
Clap Hanz have created something similar to Everybody's Golf, but not Everybody's Golf on Apple Arcade. It has to be different enough or else they could be infringing on design I suppose, but not sure, I don't know much about design copyright.
Mind you, we don't know, they might be developing another Everybody's Golf. Nothing says they (Clap Hanz) can't do more than one project. One can hope.
@Octane It's an interesting topic. My reference to second party studios is usually quite simple and for studios that have developed things like Detroit: Become Human, Everybody's Golf, Returnal, Demon Souls, Bloodbourne, et cetera. Those are simply, Sony owns the IP and the studio has been contracted to make the game with Sony's money.
If the relationship is more complicated, then it likely won't fit into the above simplicity and not worth working out.
@EVIL-C Fair enough. I personally just use the term with other people to define studio and game/IP relationships.
It's usually two questions for me:
Who owns the IP Who owns the studio If only the first is true: Second party. if neither is true: Third party If both are true: First party
If time is taken into consideration, then they were a second party while working on it (eg. Quantic Dream), but they are third party now, because they are working on their own IP. BluePoint games would be considered a second party, because their next game will likely be a Sony IP.
Games exclusively made for one platform, but not owned by the platform owner would be thrown into third party, because extra platforms could be added (ignoring exclusive contracts) by the studio and the platform holder would have no say in it.
@EVIL-C @Tharsman I see the difference between third and second party studios as (with Sony): IP owned by Sony, but studio is not. Atlus has developed Persona 4 for playstation in the past, but Sony do not own either, so Atlus is a third party still. An example anyway.
Would be nice if Sony had the option for publishers to include PC versions on PS Store with the PlayStation version. Buy Days Gone on PS4 and get the PC version included. Some people might just buy the PlayStation version instead of the Steam or whatever store front version. Although publishers might not like the idea that some people won't buy more than one version (there's still people who need a copy of GTA).
@Quintumply While they're recommending the PS4 as an alternative to a computer for school work, they could also recommend Dreams as a learning tool. Sony could do a Lockdown Discount.
@zupertramp Well there's many things that we take for granted, we'd spend so much time researching if we had to know everything. So many forms to fill out.
In New Zealand our consumer rights are similar to the UK I think, but I'm pretty sure online and in store have the same weight when making returns.
@Xenomorph_79 @zupertramp putting aside faulty items or not fit for use, I think many consumers get store policy mixed up with consumer rights law.
If bought in store, in the UK, unless the store has a stated a policy of being able to return non-faulty items (or not fit for use etc), they don't have to accept a return. I'm basing this off what appears to be a UK government website: https://www.gov.uk/accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds
I just thought I'd post this, because people may not realise this and some may be interested.
In your case though, they should totally refund your copy of Cyberpunk 2077, it states on the same government page above, that online, like you were saying, you have 14 days and plus, it's a faulty item. Good luck anyway, at least CDProjektRED have said that they'll do refunds.
@PossibLeigh The way to tell which version you have installed is to press "options" when you have highlighted the games icon, then select and enter "Game Version" just like the last image of this article (with Call of Duty). It will have the two versions available and the one installed will be ticked.
@get2sammyb @AJDarkstar I think they could just put "PlayStation 5" or "PlayStation 4" under the title of game. And I just looked, it turns out that they have put a "PS4" next to the PS4 game titles at the top of the screen.
For instance:
[Game icon] Dreamsâ„¢ | PS4
But would be good if it was more obvious for all, before and after you buy and download.
@God_of_Nowt My power supply fan in my computer made a horrible noise for a while, so I pulled the fan out of the unit and pulled the cap off and dripped some machine oil down the spindle and that fixed that problem.
@JoshuaTChandler Have you tried going back to the system settings, there's a transfer option there. I'm guessing that you were on the same network /router (I had mine wired). I had my PS4 turned off and then turned it on when it said and held the power button on the PS4 until I heard a single beep when it asked me to.
I don't know if this helps, but I thought I'd mention it.
Yeah, the UI seems a strange. I went to do the quick menu, but it's no longer there. And to close an app or game is more involved it seems. Also appears that the system for partially downloading a game, then playing it while it downloads may not be there for PS5 games (Spider-man: Miles Morales anyway). Haven't played with it much, just picked it up last night (NZ) and setup. I'll play with it when I have more time.
I think if they reduced the price of the pre-order and maybe the first week or two, they'd make more money. I say this because there is likely a lot of people who would buy it at a reduced price at launch, but seems they have/want to wait for the first sale, they don't buy it. Many people, I believe, would also get to that first sale and think, I can wait for a better sale, I've waited this long. I did it with Horizon Zero Dawn and kept waiting and waiting, then thought, just buy it at the current promotional sale price (half of the current price), it's pretty good and you'll enjoy it.
This idea might not work for all games, but I'd like to see if it could work. What if many that buy the game at 70%percent off, would have bought it at 15-20% off at pre-order/launch, but waited and then decided to wait more. No idea what the numbers would be, but it'd be nice if they experimented with this.
"The PS4 version of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales offers a free upgrade path to PS5 Standard Edition. And if you purchase or upgrade to the PS5 Standard Edition, you can take advantage of a paid-upgrade offer from the in-game menu to download Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered**."
I think Activision was having trouble selling the game Modern Warfare was bundled, so they attached Modern Warfare to it and it sold like hotcakes I believe.
@evan23 Ah, I see. Thanks for the information, I see I was incorrect. Sorry about that. I had read about Samsung's The Wall, which may or may not use different technology. It had been compared to Sony's Crystal LED system called CLEDIS, which is made up of modular panels that can be connected together.
I wish Sony would make consumer TVs with Crystal LED. It is the bleeding edge of technology by the sounds of it.
@LiamCroft @evan23 QLED is a micro LED technology, Crystal LED by Sony and LG has their own version. It is different to both LED LCD and OLED. Just do a Google search on MicroLED or CLEDIS.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your First Impressions of PS5?
Yeah, the UI seems a strange. I went to do the quick menu, but it's no longer there. And to close an app or game is more involved it seems. Also appears that the system for partially downloading a game, then playing it while it downloads may not be there for PS5 games (Spider-man: Miles Morales anyway). Haven't played with it much, just picked it up last night (NZ) and setup. I'll play with it when I have more time.

@radic202 I'm not at home, but you can press the PS button once and I believe the power option should be along the bottom.
Re: Sony Considered Raising PS5 Game Prices Beyond $70, Says New Report

@Philbop "I reckon so, I’ve got demons souls, Spider-Man ultimate and GodFall (not sure if it’ll be good but looks shiny at least) for lunch"
You won't have room for dinner, but you can always have dessert.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Re: PS5 Menu Music for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon's Souls Leaks
@BansheeNorn Good to know. That upgrade is for upgrading to the Ultimate Edition, I'm guessing that's what you meant.
From: https://blog.playstation.com/2020/09/30/marvels-spider-man-remastered-detailed/
Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5
@evan23 Ah, I see. Thanks for the information, I see I was incorrect. Sorry about that. I had read about Samsung's The Wall, which may or may not use different technology. It had been compared to Sony's Crystal LED system called CLEDIS, which is made up of modular panels that can be connected together.
I wish Sony would make consumer TVs with Crystal LED. It is the bleeding edge of technology by the sounds of it.
Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5
@LiamCroft @evan23 QLED is a micro LED technology, Crystal LED by Sony and LG has their own version. It is different to both LED LCD and OLED. Just do a Google search on MicroLED or CLEDIS.
Edit: So in a sense it is similar to OLED.
