RIP, the man who made football understandable and accessible to so many.
Can't wait for EA to 'honour' him with a set of Super Ultra Turbo Diamond Mega Platinum Madden Ultimate Team cards in Ruby Galaxy Sigma Alpha Papa Card Packs(tm) for the low price of 99,99 USD per pull (excluding taxes + tip).
My impression of Discord is that the majority of its userbase huddles in extremely weird subculture servers. Lots of groomers and coomers too. I'm big on laissez-faire moderation usually but I'd like very tight regulations in this case.
I was playing the PS2 port of GTA III this morning (which I bought before R* pulled it from the store) and honestly, apart from the lack of a minimap, it really didn't need the Definitive treatment. Holds up pretty damn well for a twenty year old game, no wonder it ended up being so incredibly influential.
Nothing I truly hate, which is really rather rare. The whole Godfall thing is a bit weird, and it had better not receive DLC Trophies eventually because I refuse to support Gearbox.
LEGO makes this month worth it but whether I play it depends on how expensive it will be to get all the Trophy-featuring DLC packs. There's quite a few of them so this is hardly going to be a fully free game for me.
EDIT: Looks like it has been on sale for as little as three Dollars/Euro, which is reasonable. If they'd be kind enough to drop it to that level again when the base game hits Plus, I'll happily pick it up.
Hopes: any Yakuza released after Kiwami 1, any game with a fun and rare Platinum
Fears: PS5 indie shovelware plus niche sports title (e.g. PBA Pro Bowling) plus ill-conceived multiplayer game that will shut its servers in 2023 (cough First Class Trouble cough)
I'll probably end up redeeming none of the games again, had that happen for a few months since resubbing.
@LiamCroft something else regarding these games that deserves an article; Vice City's Platinum is unobtainable. The horrifically ill-advised 'Take The Cannoli' Trophy pretty much required a rubberband exploit in the PS2 versions, was changed from Gold to Silver for the remaster (proving that GSG were aware of its existence and are happy with how ridiculous it is), and was broken in the process - people are meeting the unlock requirements but don't get the ding.
Check PSNProfiles' stat tracking, both versions of Definitive VC have this issue.
Rockstar's mistake was pulling the originals only after announcing the Defective Trilogy, giving me and countless others the chance to snag them before they were delisted. Now I''ll never have to settle for the half-assed remasters when I want classic GTA on my PS5.
I think this is a fair appraisal even if I might have gone with 5/10 myself.
I've seen other publications award higher scores on the basis that 2042 'has potential' (and the title here does refer to that), but games need to be reviewed based on their current state and not on what might be added in the future. I'm glad that mantra has been espoused here.
I was almost tempted.... if I could start downloading right now. But they won't let me, I assume. Waste most of Friday downloading it only to play it for a few days at best or realize it's garbage really quick and deinstall.
One angle that has been neglected; millions of people still shelled out full price for this game (I assume) - wonder how they feel seeing everyone else get a free weekend in what is perhaps still the launch window.
These guys have never put out a bad game (inb4 Dead Souls, I Platted it and it's not bad) so whatever they are working on, it's getting bought.
Honestly, RGG Studio is one of the very, very few developers left in the industry that you as a consumer can buy on day 1 without having to worry about horrible glitches, exploitative microtransactions, or other such inconveniences. God bless this lot.
So, people have legitimate grievances with a product they paid for, and in response to this situation the best the usual suspects can come up with (across various sites) to describe said scorned consumers is;
'Entitled' 'Pathetic' 'Worthless'
And so on, and so on. Get some new material, for God's sake. No sympathy, no empathy at all.
Devs, please, the base games are horrific enough on its own.
Honestly, the trilogy deserved so much better than this two bit studio pushing out the laziest of reskins on a shoestring budget. It's incredible how brazen they were. I'm sticking to the PS2 versions that were available for PS4 previously - Rockstar was kind enough to give advanced warning of them being pulled from the store so I could still grab them.
I'll play this butchered set of remasters when a discount of at least 75% has been applied. Pre-owned physical copy in 2024, here I come.
Reviews don't necessarily have to be paid for; publications like IGN and Gamespot (as well as smaller firms) are at least partially reliant on ad money, early access codes, previews, and other perks from publishers. Those are invaluable, more so than a one-time lump sum for a review - imagine if you were the only one in your field not to be able to run stories about a closed beta or some such event, for instance.
The whole Gerstmann / Kane & Lynch debacle is perhaps the best example of the insidious and frankly unhealthy financial relationship that many gaming publications and publishers share - the former want ad money, the latter good press/reviews, with both these desires naturally steering both parties into a mutually beneficial relationship. As long as this dynamic continues to exist, there will be a degree of doubt - no matter how unfounded it may be - and thus I think it's very fair for @KundaliniRising333 and others to be distrustful of reviews from critics. I myself have long stopped putting faith in them, and really only pay attention to Famitsu (thanks to its excellent 4-man review system) and user reviews.
Never heard of Stevivor but they seem like the only outlet featured in this list to have the guts to call the game out. Hardcore Gamer and Attack of The Fanboy have pretty scathing critiques but still commit to a 7 and an 8 respectively. The latter especially reads like they had a gun pointed at their heads.
'... an excellent foundation for the game to build on going forward.'
Meanwhile the rest of the review has gems like 'a little spread too thin' and 'a mixed bag' - yet the game is still an 8/10, seemingly because it promises potentially good support going forward. Bizarre.
EDIT; this, so far, has been the best review I've seen for the game despite being in-progress. You'll need about an hour to get through it though - https://www.ausgamers.com/features/read/3638363
I am so glad I got the 'old' versions off the PSN store before they were removed. I'm sure the controls are nicer on the new ones, but this looks like such a minimal upgrade (along with the Fisher Price graphics) that the pricetag just becomes laughable.
These games deserved a more thorough overhaul. Instead they got the least amount of effort required to slap that 'Definitive' sticker on the cover.
Good, Hangar 13 have produced absolutely nothing of value from inception onward so I have no doubt this cringey concept was shot down for being more of the same. Mafia 3 was an absolute shambles at launch and even after myriad patches it is still one of the most soulless, trite games in recent memory. And one of the Trophies is still glitched, for crying out loud - testament to how poor this lot are from a technical perspective.
The remake of the original was a quick cashgrab, and that spy-themed game set in Berlin they were working on also got thrown in the trash because it wasn't up to snuff. 2K made a big mistake in gutting 2K Czech after (or perhaps even during) development of Mafia 2 and instead pumping funds into this miserable new studio. Could have continued to have Daniel Vávra at the helm of the Czech outfit but instead we have Haden Blackman continuing to plough a sinking ship into one iceberg after another.
Not really... that We Are OFK rubbish was the definite lowpoint among a slew of otherwise uninteresting-looking titles. I think the crowd that would care for OFK and the crowd that owns a PS5 does not overlap.
Also, PS Plus title First Class Trouble is so obviously an early access game trying to ride Among Us' coattails, it's a bit embarrassing.
The Brady bit is hilarious, but otherwise the marketing for this game is awful. I thought we left this lolsorandom and edgy nonsense back in the 2010's, but here I see a bunch of guys shooting from atop a tuktuk, people wingsuit-ing out of cars, etc. in what one would expect to be a serious military shooter.

Golden Abyss for me ngl, it's portable.

More Trophies please. I can't muster up the strength to play games anymore unless it involves TROOPHING.

Sega rocks, and this is going to make them better, so who doesn't care really?
Re: Battlefield 2042's Community Is So Irate Its Subreddit May Be Closed
Reddit jannies (they do it for free!) are being a bunch of wusses, imagine my shock.
EDIT; McNamara closed the replies to his Tweet to all but his mutuals lmao.
Re: Wreckfest Will Keep You Warm on PS5, PS4 This Winter with New Events
Trophies in paid DLC = bad
Trophies in free DLC = good
Still haven't gotten around to my Plus version of Wreckfest, but I definitely will this year.
Re: Most Anticipated PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
Multiversus and TDU are the only ones I'd touch outwith of PS Plus down the line, and even those are dependent on the Trophies.
We'll also get Yakuza 8 / Yakuza Like A Dragon 2, of course. That's Day 1 for me as per usual.
Re: Game of the Year: #4 - Hitman 3
Deserves its place on the list but was ultimately a weaker offering than Hitman [2016] and Hitman 2, making it a disappointing end to the WoA trilogy.

Gotta point out that the image for Hitman 3 is actually the Steelbook cover of 2, and was never used in the promotion of 3.
Re: PS5's First Commercial in China Is All About Bringing Stories to Life
Wonder how our friends at the CCP would react to certain parts of TLOU2. Not entirely favourable, I'd imagine.

I am once again requesting a Yakuza game (to dump the Platinum rarity percentage).

Played this during the free weekend, would not pay for the game - let alone a battle pass scheme.

I will now buy your game.

Also, I hope this comes with some real nasty Trophies. SASO all Elusive Targets'd be a nice Gold.

Shouldn't that also be 'anti-semitic remarks made by Azeem Rafiq'?
