Re: PS5's Remote Play Portable Will Allegedly Launch in November

Gaia093

When I played on my Switch I had it on the dock by the TV 99% of the time, with the 1% being the rare occasions where I'd rather play laying on bed over sitting at the sofa. And I don't really game when I'm outside so the whole "bring the games with you" point is moot in my case.

So yeah, I can't imagine myself paying for the opportunity to play PS5 on a handheld. The thing looks neat, though.

Re: Feature: PlayStation Showcase Biggest Winners and Losers

Gaia093

For losers I'd probably say Foamstars.

Fairgame$ is cringeworthy and all, but it's par for the course for western live service drivel. It's when Japanese devs produce this kind of dead-end stuff (and with that awfully generic Fortnite-like artstyle to boot) that I truly die a bit inside. Not to mention, of course, the matter of it being a rather blatant Splatoon copycat.

Re: Rumour: Persona 6 Could Be a Timed PS5 Exclusive in 2024

Gaia093

When it comes to Persona 6, I'm not concerned about exclusivity stuff as much as I am about post-launch upgrades rendering the original game obsolete, like it happened with Persona 5 and Royal.

By the time I got around to P5, Royal was already out and I got to spend my time on the better version of the game, but for people who supported the original release, the whole fiasco must have absolutely sucked.

I'd like some kind of guarantee that if I buy P6 at launch I'm not pouring money (and, most importantly, time) into something that is going to be abandoned in favor of a definitive version, without even an option for transferring progress.

Re: Interview: Final Fantasy 16's Devs on Clive's Name, God of War's Leaves, and Fulfilling Fans

Gaia093

Could anyone explain what the obsession is with Clive being an odd choice for the protagonist's name? I see it brought up by PushSquare specifically plenty of times, but as far as I can tell it's just another name of British origin among many. Uncommon apparently, but that by itself ought to be not a negative, but a positive for a fictional character in terms of standing out.

Re: Jim Ryan: Japanese Market Still Very Important to Sony

Gaia093

Literally all of those titles except for FFXVI are multiplatform releases, and even FFXVI is a timed exclusive.

Letting third party studios release their titles on your system is not supporting the Japanese market, it's the absolute bare minimum of common sense.

Re: Horizon's Writers Haven't Thought About Series without Lance Reddick

Gaia093

Sylens feels like too pivotal a character to just have him fall off the face of the Earth/die offscreen as Nemesis approaches, or to just have him "appear" via text messages and the like.

I don't think there's an elegant solution here - even if they preserved his character model and got a new VA, it'd feel very off, regardless of whether the new VA tried to do his own thing or imitate Reddick's performance. And the AI voice suggestion is terrible in like twenty different ways.

Re: Some PS Plus Users Puzzled by Game Expiration Glitch

Gaia093

When this happened to me weeks ago while playing Star Ocean, it was only once and I could carry on playing after the 15 minutes ran out without being bothered again. This "expiration loop" sounds significantly more annoying, so hopefully I won't get it while playing the newer Extra games.

Re: PS5, PS4's Likeable One Piece RPG Adds Story DLC This Month

Gaia093

The DLC's coming sooner than I expected it, but that's cool by me.

Hopefully it's actually harder than the main game, but I won't hold my breath because I had to grind to Lv 70 with all characters for one of the trophies which asked for exactly that, and 70's already waaay more of a level than was needed to beat any of the postgame content, whereas they stated that the recommended level for the DLC will be that of the endgame. In other words, I'm expecting some steamrolling.

Re: Fans Begin to Debate Which PlayStation Franchise Could Be Getting an Anime

Gaia093

"The anime streaming service is no stranger to adapting video game franchises, having converted the first Shenmue game previously"

That anime adaptation covered the entirety of Shenmue I & II, actually. Goes to show how barebones Shenmue's plot is when you can cram two games into 12 or 13 episodes and still have it feel like a slog instead of rushed.

Anyway, on the topic of anime for a Sony IP there's not much I'd be interested in outside of Tsushima.

Re: This Is the Impact PS Plus Can Have on a Game's Player Numbers

Gaia093

@LifeGirl More players leads to more conversation about the game which leads to more awareness and visibility which eventually leads to additional sales from people who either don't have Plus or missed the month it was given away.

That, on top of the upfront payment they get for having it included on Plus to begin with.

Re: Soapbox: I No Longer Think Subscriptions Like PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Are the Future of Gaming

Gaia093

They may or may not be "the future" for playerbases at large, but on a personal note I get an insane amount of value out of my Extra subscription. I end up amortizing the price of a year-long subscription several times over in just a month or two, and that's not an exaggeration. The amount of games I'm completing (not just 'beating') at no additional cost and the money I'm consequently saving by not purchasing all of them is seriously significant.

I guess all that is to say that if game subscriptions are meant to end someday, I'll certainly keep squeezing this one dry for as long as it lasts.
