The voice acting reminded me of Commodore Perry's episodes in Gag Manga Biyori, with the same kind of super stereotypical exaggerated accent and all. Not that anyone will know what I'm talking about.
I find it a little weird that the narrative is so coy about something as important as the missing Dominant of Water and the missing Eikon (called 'Leviathan the Lost' exactly once in a throwaway line), and yet apparently no additional storyline was planned for that. I mean, if they didn't plan to go into that topic at length, at least a couple lore entries would have been nice.
Similarly, it's weird that in the entirety of Valisthea there wasn't even a single NPC belonging to Jill's northern tribe. Not even a minor sidequest to kind of address that part of the setting - nothing.
And to be clear these things are weird because of how detailed everything else about the game's lore is and how obvious it is that the devs cared about that aspect, especially with stuff like the chronological history map. If the game felt slapdash narratively I wouldn't even point these out.
Yong has a good voice. Whether it's a good voice for a hard-boiled badass like Kiryu is a different matter. The nasal aspect of it alone kind of already clashes with Kiryu's whole image.
I don't play these games without their original audio and I don't intend to ever start, though, so it doesn't affect me either way. Hopefully more people will warm up to his performance when they hear it in full I guess.
Too bad I can't know which 'certain point' it is without looking it up and getting spoiled.
Mine did shut down at one point, but I attributed it to the day's heat and playing for many hours in a row rather than the fight itself, because it happened to be a rather mundane encounter - far removed from this game's spectacular clashes.
My story progress according to PS5 is 77% incidentally, but my one crash happened a lot earlier.
Either a remaster or a remake would be cool by me. I completed RDR2 last year and enjoyed it, so it'd be nice to play its chronological sequel on modern systems with a face lift.
Hopefully it'll be done in-house and not outsourced to the likes of the team who botched the GTA Trilogy, though.
Square was probably projecting about 10 quadrillion copies sold as per usual so they'll likely be disappointed, but 3 million for a PS5 exclusive in less than a week sounds pretty damn good.
"We're just trying to help the gaming industry grow and evolve, I swear we're not trying to create a monopoly. Will these secret emails about how we want to spend our competition out of business convince you that I'm being sincere?"
If securing Starfield was the whole point, wouldn't it have been more reasonable to just buy exclusivity for that game (timed or otherwise) instead of the whole ass company? As much as Microsoft loves throwing money around willy-nilly, I think they're just making an excuse here.
It was a silly statement to make, or to take at face value really.
I assumed there would be some sort of early patch because there are always things to improve upon on games this big. I'm just glad the version that went gold is polished enough that only minor tweaks are required.
I wonder if stores that break street dates actually get punished at all, or blacklisted. It happens so often you would think they all see zero risk in doing it.
@WallyWest I was talking in general, but in Diablo's case specifically, give it a while. Plenty of games withhold pay-to-win schemes during launch period to ensure good press and reception, then implement them later. A story older than time.
Not that I care about Diablo, but it's always hilarious to me when this excuse is used for any game.
If the issue truly were that the less efficient dungeons are being ignored by players, then work on making those more efficient and fun to farm on, instead of making the current favorites worse.
It's got nothing to do with keeping a balance between areas, it's just about increasing the grind a.k.a. engagement time of as many users as possible - and, needless to say, tempting them more towards microtransactions.
I wonder for how long. Many people got Premium when the service began or got it as a continuation of PS Now, so the question is whether they'll renew when that period's over.
And sure, of course it'd be a "pleasant surprise" to offer a garbage tier with garbage updates as the most expensive option on your service and have it be the most popular option. It's almost free money.
It'd have been absolutely weird to make Yuffie's chapter PS5 exclusive only to then make the next full game cross-gen. It'd be like Horizon 3 being available on PS4 after Burning Shores already made the leap forward.
At least the series isn't completely forgotten. This 4-5-6 collection was also in that Capcom leak from years ago, so fingers crossed once more that Ace Attorney 7 is indeed real as well.
Kind of funny how this game only ever gets updates when they want to say it's been delayed. Some sparse gameplay footage this time at least, but it didn't tell me much at all.
I remember being pretty excited about the idea of an Atlus fantasy game when that was teased ages ago, and today the wait paid off. Looks really cool, keeping an eye on it for sure.
I wonder if the potential benefit of press related to the announcements being focused on just their platform for like 24 hours is worth the price they pay for that "exclusivity".
@Splat This is being released on November, Ishin (a remaster of an existing game) launched on February, and the previous Like a Dragon game launched on January 2020.
I'd be more concerned about your warped perception of time than the status of these devs.

Re: Arzette Is a New PS5, PS4 Sidescroller Inspired by the Infamous Zelda CD-i Games
CD-i? Nostalgia? Memes? It's yours Arzette, as long as you have enough rubees.
Re: Street Fighter 6's Stars Looks a Little Off in PUBG: Battlegrounds Cameo
I see nothing wrong. These are Roy, Chan Liao, Lucky and Keimi from Alley Brawler just the way I remember them.

Re: Microsoft Beats US Regulator FTC in Activision Blizzard Buyout Battle
@get2sammyb Yeah, this is not a good precedent to set at all.
Re: Random: Final Fantasy 16 Theme Song's Official Music Video Equal Parts Sombre, Melodramatic
Haven't watched the music video yet, but I enjoyed the song when I listened to it during the credits.
Re: This Year's Tokyo Game Show Will Be Its Largest Ever
Good for attendees and such. But as someone who's only interested in announcements, I expect it to be as 'small' as ever in that regard.
Re: Random: NieR Creator Yoko Taro Loses Nightmarish Emil Mask, Replacement Probably Haunted
He should just show up with that for every presentation from now on and say it's Emil's new look.
Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Favourite PS5, PS4 Games of 2023 So Far?
FF16, RE4, LaD Ishin.

Re: Rise of the Ronin Leak Suggests a Q1 2024 Launch on PS5, More Details
Looking forward to this since I first saw it, Q1 2024 would be great.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Final Fantasy 16?
Four fifths into the story or so, a solid 9 so far. Could have even been a 10 if area exploration/loot and sidequests were better.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 Is Overheating and Crashing PS5 Consoles Completely
@Kevw2006 I appreciate the reply. Nothing concrete for me to worry about for the rest of my playthrough then, good news.

Re: There's Already Concern Over Crash Team Rumble's Future
20-30 people watching on Twitch for a newly released multiplayer game is actually not just bad, but abysmal.
Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Lose These 10 PS5, PS4 Games Next Month
Thinking of trying at least the first Bioshock and Raiden V.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for July 2023 Leaked Early
Cheers for Alan Wake, I was hoping that'd be coming sooner or later since the sequel's releasing soon. I guess I'll see what the series is all about.
Might give Endling a try as well. Good month.

Gross. Hands off my Like a Dragon and SMT.

Re: Indiana Jones Game Deal Amended to Exclude PS5, PS4
Oh no, not the licensed garbage, you can't take that away from PS! You monsters!
Re: "We've Lost the Console Wars," Says Trillion Dollar Underdog Xbox
The saddest part of this is them actually using the term "console wars". This has now officially devolved into an argument between manchildren.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Final Fantasy 16?
Yup, having good fun with it so far.
Re: YouTuber Yong Yea Is the New English Voice of Kazuma Kiryu
Nice for Yong to keep picking up major roles. As always, though, I'll play LaD in Japanese.
Re: The Calisto Protocol's Story DLC Is a Timed PS5, PS4 Exclusive for, Er, 48 Hours
Callisto Protocol is a huge deal so I'm sure everyone's going to care a lot about a DLC coming two days sooner, right?

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for June 2023?
Sure, I'll play a bunch of them, starting with The Talos Principle.
And I've already completed Inscryption myself (twice...), but it's an awesome addition to the catalogue.

Re: There's Growing Concern Over Persona Dev's Metaphor: ReFantazio Being an Xbox Exclusive
They probably paid for a longer embargo on that one since it's the biggest Atlus announcement out of the three.

Re: Lord of the Rings Needs to Be the Biggest Game Franchise in the World, Says Embracer
Nothing quite like the hubris of a clueless big corporation.
Re: Preview: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Demo Is a Short But Sweet Taste of a Cult Classic
Ghost Trick was a very neat game, glad it'll reach more players now.
Re: Hold It! Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy Brings the Later Games to PS4 in 2024

Re: Sorry Physical Fans! The New Like a Dragon May Be Digital Only on PS5, PS4
Sucks for the guys who strictly prefer physical. On a personal note I've been buying RgG games digitally for a while anyway, so it doesn't affect me.

Thanks for the heads-up, registered for PS5. With the way these things go I bet I'm too late already, but might as well try to get in.
Re: Baby Steps Is the Weirdest PS5 Game You'll See Today
I actually really like Getting Over It, so this has my attention.
Re: Poll: Was Summer Game Fest 2023 a Sizzler or a Wash Out?
Gaiden, Rebirth and the Lies of P demo made it okay. For the most part, I had the showcase on mute.
