Sony's official PlayStation celebration Days of Play is making a return this year, starting on the 26th May and ending on the 9th June. Traditionally, Days of Play makes a big deal out of sales and discounts — and this year's event is no different.
Sony says that we can expect deals on a range of highly rated PS5 and PS4 titles, including PS5 heavy hitters Demon's Souls and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales — two games that have dodged discounts up until this point.
PlayStation PR makes a point of saying that these discounts will be available at participating retailers, but we assume that they'll also be present on the PlayStation Store.
Anyway, here are the initial deals, according to PlayStation (we only have UK prices right now):
PS5 Games
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales - £42.99
- Sackboy A Big Adventure! - £51.99
- Demon's Souls Remake – £59.99
- Marvel's Spiderman Ultimate Edition – £59.99
PS4 Games
- Days Gone - £16.99
- Marvel’s Spider-Man - £16.99
- Death Stranding - £16.99
- The Last of Us Part II - £22.99
- Ghost of Tsushima - £30.99
- PS Hits Titles for £11.99
Unfortunately, the PS5 game discounts don't amount to much, since launch titles like Demon's Souls are already so expensive. Still, this is apparently just the start — Sony's teasing "additional deals" that haven't been listed yet.
A number of PS VR games are going quite cheap as well:
- Until Dawn Rush of Blood VR– £8.99
- Farpoint VR – £8.99
- Arizona Sunshine - £16.99
- Astro Bot - £16.99
- Bravo Team VR - £16.99
- Blood and Truth - £16.99
- Everybody's Golf VR - £16.99
- Firewall VR – £16.99
- Marvel's Iron Man VR – £24.99
Do any of these sales tickle your fancy? Refuse to call £60 a "discount" in the comments section below.

Awful discounts on the PS5 games, but as a owner of a digital edition, I’ll take them.
£60 is actually not bad for Demon Souls if you only have a PS5 Digital like myself.
If you buy wallet top ups from Shopto or similar, you'll pay around £53-54.
Obviously not as good as psychical, as you can get a 2nd hand copy for £45 or less.
Until the price of games on the PS Store comes in to line with, or cheaper than, the price of buying the game physically, I almost always hard-pass on AAA games digitally.
I get that games are expensive to make and they need to sell well to fund the studio going forward, etc, etc etc, but why pay the PS Store price when you get get it cheaper physically and then sell it if you want when done?
Not to mention the storage capacity 'issue' on PS5 without being able to extend the HDD....
I love being able to quickly drop some cash on some of the cheaper, smaller games on the store, but damn... also when you see Game Pass... makes me sad
No word on PS Plus discounts? Guess i'll have to pay full price for it for the first time since like 2016 😔
All can be purchased NEW on eBay for much much cheaper.
As a physical edition owner, i’ll continue to stick with discs for PS5.
I’d be interested in a reduced price for Miles Morales on PS4; although trying to find a physical copy in the wild has become tough.
£60 for a digital game (and while heavily discounted) is disgusting.
The £100 you save buying a digital console is soon spent after you have purchased your first 6 or 7 games. After that you are handing piles of cash to Sony, in comparison to disc owners, for your purchases for the next 7 years.
Already own every one of these titles, some of the PS4 ones on disc … would really like to swap them to digital for my PS5, but not for these prices.
Wish Sony had some kind of programme to trade discs for digital.
Days Gone on PS+ this month and they just gave away Farpoint w/ Play at Home. Astrobot has been cheaper.*
*All based on my US knowledge, which may nto apply to the UK. 🤷♂️
Still no PS5 in site so...
The day 1 hype over Demon's souls has died for me, so i won't be taking the plunge (It's all about timing in the HYPE trade). Plus, £60 for a 6 month old game doesn't sit right with me either.
I am a disgruntled customer though, so i'm bound to spend less...
@Mellors86x It's a scandal that they charge more for digital than disc, it should to the total opposite of that if you think of the overheads.
I know it only released on Friday but really hoping for a discount on Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. Desperate to replay them but not sure how I feel about paying £60 for a remastered trilogy.
@DomGC. I know right .even if the digital ps5 was 100$ i still wouldn't buy it.and the ps5 physical games are already on sale on ebay.word up son
@Omniicron I agree it should be cheaper for Digital, but they have a monopoly on the marketplace and take a much larger cut of the profits compared to games sold in brick and mortar stores.
I feel for those who have a Digital PS5!
@Total_Weirdo I want the digital deluxe to go on sale, it hardly ever does
I will wait until I can get some of those Ps5 titles until they can be got for cheaper physically
Also spiderman: ultimate edition is that the deluxe spiderman miles morales set with the digital code for Spiderman 2018 remastered?
Is good to see one of these games with the prices it should have launched with 😶 As for PS5 digital owners this is as good as you're going to get for those PS5 games so I would take advantage.
I bought Miles and Sackboy from the PS store since they were priced right and are worth every cent, Demon's Souls I bought used on ebay 🤷
That's a bit disappointing for digital version, I guess I'll buy the physical version.
proud new owner of a disc ps5 . not wasting away in some scalpers living room, just got miles morales, returnal. enjoying it so far. dont think il bother with demon souls this time around the ps3 version punished me 😂. very lucky owning a ps5 and a series x bring on the exclusives!
@huyi oh hells no ,they will keep it at a high price until its old hat.
I told y'all. That's Sonys new price policy. They are going to convince/teach customers to get their first party games as soon as they're out, as waiting for price drops is not really worth it.
That is absolutely Nintendos price policy which Sony seems to follow suit.
At least, I'll get Sackboy a tiny bit cheaper now. But for the future, I'll get their games as they release.
The wait wasn't worth it at all.
@Omniicron it depends. If you buy games close to release date, then you're right. But if you don't mind waiting for a decent sale (it could take over a year), you may end up finding it for a lower price than physical.
Holding off on repurchasing the Last of Us 2 (sold my physical copy) for the inevitable PS5 edition of Last of Us that Naughty Dog will surely charge a premium for
Edit: this comment aged terribly and I couldn’t be happier
I have a copy of miles morales I am willing to sell if anyone is interested. ps4 copy...free upgrade to the 5.
Still not played a single ps5 game since purchasing one day one, although PS Plus Collection is enough for me for now. But even at those prices it's still absolutely laughable and I won't touch one until they're sub £30
@naruball Waiting over a year for the very slim chance of it being marginally cheaper than a disc... I can't take any positives from that. Its dirty and greedy.
Interesting, Sony went the Nintendo route. Full price and then some get very small discount around 6 months later.
I wouldn't ever mess about with discs like a peasant again for any price.
@Mellors86x here's the thing though- they don't lose a thing due to your unwillingness to buy digital. It's not like that game you might have bought exists somewhere physically, taking up space and having cost money to create the copy.
Physical retailers will always sell games for cheaper because they want to sell as much as they can, as fast as they can - whereas Sony can afford to have a game sat there for £70 even if very few people buy it (and from what we can see, plenty of people are buying them) - it's not like they don't make money off the physical sales too
@Porkman85 Funny that you think your special i have the space to put the games you peasant. 🤣
And i dont mind a little effort to keep the digital monopoly away from big corp.
@JapaneseSonic "Demon's Souls is easier than Returnal imo. "
Really 😳 I'm glad Housemarque at least got to do what they wanted but it still should have some form of saving for casuals or people with lives.
No discount on Sackboy for PS4 owners is another kick in the teeth.
Still, it's only £45.80 at Amazon so yet again physical disc manufacturing + post costs = cheaper than digital download....
Death Stranding, Days Gone best prices and games on the list.
Blood and truth is £12.94 now so in the sale it will go up 😳
@Grumblevolcano They went the Nintendo route and then some.
Nintendo goes for 33% off, so a £50 game (their high price save for BOTW and Smash) drops to between £30 and £35.
For Sony, a £70 game dropping to £60 is...not even 20%.
So yeah they're trying a Nintendo, holding value in their games, except now they are a higher price than even them by a large margin, and the deals are worse.
At least here in the UK I can pay £85 for two Switch game vouchers and as long as Nintendo is the publisher it doesn't matter the price, you get the game. £100 worth of games for £85 plus you get gold points for other small savings from those purchases.
Never thought I'd say this but for once Nintendo has the better digital deals. Yikes.
Yikes. This seems like a bad omen for how Sony is going to handle digital content. Sure hope they lose the lawsuit against them regarding digital games.
These are not discounts Sony, come on.🤦🏻♂️🤷🏼♂️ This is why I bought the PS5 disc edition. Discounts in stores are way better, I just bought Assassins Creed: Valhalla on PS5 this weekend for £35 from GAME. (New). There’s also still a massive market for pre owned games and with trade in etc. you can get get games cheap as chips.
These prices are still too high if Sony are calling this a sale, bit of a joke imo.
If the next generation is digital only and Sony remains in sole control of digital games with no sell back option, I think I will have to reconsider my hobby
Those sale prices are a joke, but it's more than I expected at this point, honestly. Demon's Souls sales are constrained by PS5 hardware availability and hasn't maximized it's sell-through to potential full price buyers yet. This is at least a good sign that in 6 months or more it might start hitting real sales.
Wanted to get Miles Morales because I think my son would enjoy watching it, but more Pokémon Snap it is then! Ratchet and Clank is close enough (along with the FF7 DLC) to where I’m not really bothered to get anything else with these “sales.”
$70 games this generation for ps5
People: I'll wait for a sale
Sony: MUWHAHAHAHA!! what sale?
@DomGC I initially regretting buying a PS5 with disc drive, but now seeing these PSN prices and how quick physical copies drop, pleased I have both options.
With these prices Blockbuster may be able to make a comeback.
Those PS5 prices are a joke I had to double check to see if I was reading the right article.
$10 off Demon’s Souls isnt enough for me to put off playing R&C, FF7R:I or Mass Effect
I'll be waiting for the US prices before making a decision...but good chance I won't be buying any discounted PS5 games until Black Friday.
@Ortneoc
I feel sorry for you.
I have bought my physical copy of RE8 for €47. 00 on Amazon.
€22.00 cheaper than a bloody digital license that you don't even own.
Think about it 🤔🤔
@Chryssy75
Don't worry, I'm very well aware of the benefits of buying physical, and yet I'm also aware of the advantages of going digital and don't regret my choice, even if I end spending more in the end. It's not only about saving money for me.
Edit: btw, I bought resident evil digital from the brazilian PS store for R$ 249, that's €38,72 according to google, so...
@MrSensical the key is to buy multiple years at the sale price so you can choose when to buy PS+ and are not forced to buy it when it's not on sale. When PS+ was on sale for $27, I bought three years. Now, I just buy a year when it's on sale here and there.
Your dollar signs are all fvcked up.
this is cool but what about us living in Australia. Where is our sale?
I have these PS5 games already and nearly all of the PS4 games too but this is pretty good for those that don't I guess. The PS5 discounts leave a lot to be desired though.
Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding for me. I have a digital PS5 and thank you to all those who feel sorry for me, but I'm fine with that. No way am I going to go back to the hassle of using discs. Then again I have Mass Effect LE and Persona 5 to play, so I'm in no rush to buy PS5 games. Also, lucky for me I have zero interest in Demon's Souls or Miles Morales.
Death stranding at that price is a total steal. I really enjoyed that game and would encourage everyone to try at this price.
@Omniicron I'm simply pointing out that physical is not always cheaper than digital. Some people, including myself, don't mind waiting for several years to play a game. By then, all the problems are fixed and the game can cost less than 10 USD, even AAA games. So, this applies to certain people. I won't be buying the diskless ps5, but if I were to, I don't think I would be at a disadvantage. That's all I'm saying.
So, the play is to jack up digital prices to ridiculous levels, then reduce them to merely very bad levels, to fool people into thinking they are getting a deal on software they won’t actually own in a way that lets them sell it on? No thanks. Digital games need to be no more than £10 to approach the value of physical for me. Sure I’d pay more to support the developers, but not when the publisher wants to rip me off.
Are people regretting their choice to save a tiny amount by getting the PS5 digital rip off edition yet?
@Casco
I wouldn’t encourage someone to purchase it for £17 when they can buy it physically for £12, plus then have the option to sell on once finished if they want.
Yup, refuse to call £60 a discount price, it may be discounted, but its not a discount price.
If I could play it and then sell back the licence to Sony for say 50% of the purchase fee (as I can with a physical copy to ebay/others) then great but given I will only ever see a 0% return on that investment its just not appealling enough.
The PS5 sales aren’t exactly huge, but £60 seems so much more palatable than £70 for some reason. I do want to pick Demon’s Souls up, but knowing how difficult the game is, I’m just worried about spending so much money for a game that I may well get stuck on very early in. Still, if I don’t grab the From Software blockbuster, I’ll definitely be grabbing something for the new-gen system. Probably Spider-man Ultimate Edition.
Please be a good price for GoTsu here in Germany
And this is why I went with the disc version.
@Jacko11 Yeah, I’ve been a strictly digital-only buyer since Vita/PS4 (and 3DS/Switch), but this generation, I’m seriously considering going back to physical. At least until we’re a couple years in and we start getting some 'proper' PSN sales. That’s precisely why I stumped up the extra and bought the PS5 disc edition.
@The_Pixel_King It's actually not that hard dude. Watch some videos on world tendency before you start and you'll be cool.
@starbuck2212 Really? Thanks man, I’ll do just that. Appreciate the Demon’s Souls heads up!
Same here! I originally ordered the digital edition PS5, but when the retailer I ordered from emailed to say they could no longer honour the delivery date, I cancelled and though it took a couple months, I eventually tracked down a disc version just last week. Bullet dodged!
Another reason why digital is a scam. Honestly here in the Uk that extra £90 you save ain’t worth it. I’ve saved that £90 in the first few purchases I’ve bought on disc.
Really miles morales is £25!! In physical at some places. Even demon Souls you can get for £40, resident village £40. Think Guys!!!
The digital version of any AAA game should be $45/€37 on launch day, not including taxes. There's so little overhead when it comes to digital games. There's no brick and mortar store to take a cut. There's no cost to ship the game to a store. That alone saves Sony $20 per game.
@The_Pixel_King Yeah I think it's the easiest to get to grips with, most get screwed over by world tendency, but if you know it before hand then you'll be cool. FightingCowboy has some great videos on it.
@Bocking87-
I think people are disgruntled because these £70 Sony launch games can be had for MUCH cheaper already on disc. This is just Sony trying to make up the lost revenue from the PS5 Digital console sales.
The best option for people is to buy a full fat PS5 and buy the first party games second hand on disc. These are just CEX prices. Games can be had for even cheaper on Ebay.
Demon Souls - £45
Spiderman MM - £30
Godfall - £28
Sackboy - £45
@Mellors86x Same here. Why I will never get a digital only console.
Not only buy used, sell, trade, split with my cousin. But I also rent on GameFly. Digital does not always make sense.
@Mellors86x
That's not how pricing works. People got used to buying games around £60, so it stays there, regardless of media. Obviously, publishers are trying to nudge it higher, hence £70 is becoming the new norm. The only way prices are going to fall is gamers stopping buying games priced at £70. It doesn't seem to be happening.
@Mellors86x You know I just read that stupid lawsuit. Microsoft has digital out with everyone and still has no sales. Bottom line consoles aren't selling digital for pc prices because console games aren't indie games. Console doesn't sell 3 dudes in a sheds games they sell big developer games. Now does that mean we shouldn't see cheaper digital sales? No but it's like saying the news should stop selling fear.
