Re: Mina the Hollower Well on Its Way to Saving Dev, Sells Half a Million Copies

@somnambulance reading everything you’ve said here, I have to ask, is the demo a fair assessment of what’s in store? I’ve read the demo does not do it justice, and though I love a challenge I was a little put off by the demo.

I think I’ll still end up playing it, but as you’ve completed it, I wanted to know your thoughts if you’ve played the demo or if you look back on the first area of the game in comparison to the rest of it.

This weekend I’m still out of town playing on my portal. So more than likely Turbo Overkill and Mina the Hollower will have my free time along with Mouse P.I.. When I return I’ll dive back into Pragmata and work through that.

Beyond that I’m tempted to snag Nioh 3, First Light, The Alters, Ninja Gaiden 4, Legacy of the Dark Knight, or Luna Abyss to add to the rotation.

Re: Crimson Desert (PS5) - One of the Most Frustratingly Brilliant Games I've Ever Played

I appreciate the re-review here. It makes sense. I can see there are a lot of people who seem annoyed by this game here in the comments lol. Golly, no one is happy about anything. I’ve about 25 hours in it and while I did set it down for some shorter games, I think it’s brilliant and will get back to it.

Problem is the RDR2 and Elden Ring comparison isn’t quite fair. It’s a single player game built off an MMO company’s back, and it’s a commendable first attempt. Too many people want to play the game for what they want to be and not what it is.

We have to meet games where they are and not what we want them to be. We live too much in an age of customization and that’s why everyone feels entitled to what they want it to be, not what the vision of the creator wants from it.

And there’s a deeper more nuanced argument to have there but I doubt anyone wants to have that here.

@urbical it has a story (albeit not a strong one) and lots to do. I’ve taken a different approach than most: I’m enjoying the world for what it is and not expecting The Witcher 3 with plot or quests. It’s definitely apparent they made MMOs before this, but it doesn’t feel grindy at all.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 633

I’ve snagged my 150th platinum with Saros. It’s great, but I’ll still be a Returnal guy first. Something about the emptiness of that game (since both characters are technically lonely people) speaks to me more despite Saros being more technical on a gameplay level minute to minute.

I also beat Saint Slayer and considered the platinum, but I don’t think I can beat the game with three lives on Classic.

So I’ve fully moved on to Pragmata and Capgod doesn’t miss. I’ll also revisit Crimson Desert since more patches have dropped and the game seems to be nearing a more perfect state.
Happy Gaming all!

@MrPeanutbutterz that’s the same weapon I was complaining about. I love the game but that might be the first time I’ve ever genuinely searched and backtracked as best I could to immediately drop a weapon. I didn’t mind Matterfall (I finished it but it’s definitely their weakest game), but the disc launcher has to be one of the worst weapons they’ve ever designed. As long as it doesn’t become a mandatory use I’ll be okay because so far every biome has felt like the newest weapon introduced was “suggested” by the gameplay around it as the go to weapon.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 632

@MrPeanutbutterz the weapon variety is also a sore spot for me. Returnal’s weapons all felt creative and useful; I’ve found one variant of the crossbow I like; the shotgun is definitely only great for rooms before bosses (so if you don’t draw something else before then you’re in for pain), and don’t get me started on the disc shredder one that sticks into enemies. I cannot stand how it forces you to run around while it does damage. I love Housemarque, and this game is wonderful, but they overcorrected from Returnal.

Finished most of my points for the expedition in Arc Raiders. I’ve temporarily put a hold on Pragmata, and have spent all my time on Saros I am also casually playing Saint Slayer and am on level 19. There are just too many brilliant games to play right now. I haven’t forgotten Crimson Desert either, but stuff like Saros has that one more area or one more try loop that feels so good to play.

Happy Gaming all!

Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Month (April 2026)

ErrantRob

@MrPeanutbutterz I know that’s the simplest answer. I think what I’m feeling goes beyond that. I miss the items that you got to purchase and make run choices with (such as the astronaut). So while I could crank up the difficulty with the modifiers, it wouldn’t change the economy. I even miss to some degree the unique weapons. Everything up through where I am now feels more sterile in name or design.

Pragmata and Saros are easy ones for me. If I had to go for one over the other, it's Pragmata. I love Saros (I loved Returnal), but so far at 7 hours in, I am missing the hardcore feeling of Returnal and its modifiers that made it feel more demanding and thrilling to do a run.

I think Saint Slayer: Spear of Sacrilege would be too if I had the time for it!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 631

Snagged the platinum in RE Requiem and it’s my GOTY so far. I am also workin on Pragmata, Saros and casually playing Squirrel with a Gun. There are just too many brilliant games to play right now. I haven forgotten Crimson Desert either, but I need to get through these smaller experiences first.

Finallt, if time allows I’ll revisit Night City.

Happy Gaming all!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 630

Pragmata will be my focus this weekend until Saros later in the week.

However, I am working on an Insanity run in Requiem without Infinite Ammo and suffering greatly. I wish I had more CP and with most challenges complete I can’t get enough CP until I beat Insanity. So I refuse to give up with the platinum so close.

That’s it for me!

@Marquez what I have heard about Crimson Desert is that once you are out Hernand and into the next region, it feels like you’ve hit reset because that next locale is just as jam packed with things to do.

I can’t verify myself yet either, but I don’t doubt it after hearing 300 plus hour stories of still having things to do.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 629

Snagged the platinum in Minishoot Adventures and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Zelda or Twin Stick shooters. Beyond that I’m almost through RE Requiem and I’m slowly enjoying my time in Crimson Desert

If time allows I’ll revisit Night City and spend time replaying Returnal to prep myself for Saros!

Happy Gaming all!

Re: Wuchang PS5 Dev Team May Be Gone for Good

Once you got into a rhythm with the game and understood what it wanted from you (a staple of soulslikes), it became one of the more enjoyable soulslikes I've played. It's not FromSoft, Lies of P, or a few others, but it easily is in my top 10

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 626

I’m fully locked and rotating between Minishoot Adventures, the incredible Resident Evil Requiem, and the amazing Crimson Desert. What a game! It’s an incredible sandbox, and honestly, what story there is I am digging. Gathering lost brethren to return your clan to glory while solving the mystery of the “rocks in the sky.” There’s something to always stumble on or a quest to begin. Enjoy the weekend all!

Re: Crimson Desert (PS5) - A Generational Open World Buried in Early Access Cruft

@Mes_Urson I have about 10 hours on launch day PS5. Honestly, and maybe I am not a graphics snob, but the world feels alive for me, and it looks good enough. I watch videos from PC of it, and no, it does not look like that, but I have found that if I adjust just a few menu settings, I have no issues. Turned Blur all the way down, reduce the particle effects for framerate (just a smidge), turned off VSync, and I still feel like I am playing an incredible experience. Sure, something like Requiem puts it to shame, but the scope isn't there either.

Re: PS Plus Essential Game for April 2026 Leaked

@Divergent95 If that is your reasoning, you are missing out. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. If you are going to let politics infuse itself into your purchasing habits, you might need to return that PS5 that could have parts made in the Foxconn factory.
