Mortal Shell 2 Promises Quality Souls Action on PS5, Out Next Month

Glad the game is avoiding the busy September. Also the demo made me super excited for the game.

Oh, hell yeah! August now has two games for me: Mortal Shell 2 and The Sinking City 2.

The Open Beta for this game was phenomenal on PC. If the Beta is anything to go by, this game will be a massive improvement over the first game…which kinda sucked in my experience.

Not to sound mean but I regretted even spending like £20 on the first one. Here’s hoping this is far less barebones.

Really looking forward to this one. Since it’s coming out before things start to heat up with all the Q3 & 4 releases, I’ll gladly support this dev based on the quality of the first game and buy myself a PHYSICAL copy. Might even get the Devout Edition just cuz.

I hope this is a bit less vague than the first one. I tried 3x to get into it but the classic obtuseness of the Souls-like formula just drove me off. I don't understand why a game with Souls-like combat can't also just easily explain its own systems and give the player some direction. It was so vague it annoyed the heck out of me.

The demo was absolutely awesome. So glad they didn't delay this. It's my most anticipated game for the rest of the year.

Huge step up from the original. I have zero doubts that this is going to be a banger from that demo alone.

I enjoyed the first game but thought there was room for improvement. This one seems better.

Hate to be that guy but may need to read this sentence out loud again: “ As well as the ability to play early, you also get the Obsidian skin set, which provides all of the eight Shells in the sequel an additional outfit”.

@nessisonett first had a lot of charm surrounding atmosphere and the concept. This will be markedly improved. Every preview seems to suggest this will be a AC1 to AC2 situation for the devs; groundwork is laid and now the systems and growth will be evident.

DS1: your character is a nobody. Big interconnected world with lore I really don’t understand. You also have to contend with the stamina meter.

MS2: your character is a near mythic savior figure, you get to use guns as a secondary weapon, it’s open world, and you don’t have to worry about a stamina meter. Big interconnected world, unclear on much of the lore since the Beta is a small snippet of the game. The gameplay rewards aggression. Nowhere near as “deliberate & you gotta be careful to pick your spots to be aggressive” as DS1.
