Cold Symmetry has confirmed its PS5 Soulslike follow-up, Mortal Shell 2, will release on 20th August 2026, avoiding the big September onslaught by a few weeks.

Pre-orders are now live on the PS Store, with the base version costing £44.99 / $49.99 while a Devout Edition bundles in three days of early access for an extra £5 / $10. As well as the ability to play early, you also get the Obsidian skin set, which provides all of the eight Shells in the sequel an additional outfit.

The developer pitches Mortal Shell 2 as a "standalone sequel", suggesting you don't need to have played the original to experience this. It'll have "faster and unforgiving combat, deeper weapon design with extensive upgrade options, and an emphasis on free exploration within a compact open-world".

Still, if you want to go back to the first game during this quiet Summer period, it is on sale now at a 90% discount on the PS Store, bringing it down to £2.49 / $2.99. Have you been anticipating this one? Let us know in the comments below.
