@Shepherd_Tallon I will add for Wo Long that I loved it. The first boss is a skill check. After that I don’t think I hit a wall the rest of the game. Got the platinum I loved it so much. And I didn’t do that with either Nioh or the Dark Souls series.
Finishing up the Last Faith I hope and then continuing Lords of the Fallen and BG3. I’m a broken record the last several weeks but two young kids will do that to you!
Lots of The Last Faith, along with Baldurs Gate 3 (finally making it to Act 2!) and Lords of the Fallen. I’m at a crossroads with the last one. Do I cleanse the world of evil or join it? Lol
@Olmaz the most rational take in the comments section, because it acknowledges both sides. In the age of extreme identity politics it’s nice to know some can see where both sides have a place at the table. As an educator thank you for being able to see we should approach everything with caution.
@Northern_munkey I’d echo that. Lies of P and Sanabi are both fantastic, and Hex creating a new studio to do LOTF and the dev hell it went through. Highly underrated Gunfire Games too who crushed it with Remnant 2 in every way.
@Fakeplastictree for LOTF I am doing a Radiance build. Once you get a certain sword that scales with that you’ll really slice through enemies. My secondary stat is strength because there are some good weapons that stack with that and Radiance for an unga bunga magic build lol
Dusk is on the short list of boomer shooters I need to dive into (Prodeus, Boltgun, etc). At this point I need a Boomer Shooter Marathon (still wish we had a better term that stuck than Boomer).
@Fakeplastictree I think that’s true for most people about Lies of P vs LOTF. The former clicks while the latter has all the set dressing, but takes about 6-7 hours to really realize how wonderfully designed it all is despite some flaws (lock on system for example).
@DrVenture69 lies of P is brilliant if you don’t mind mastering parry and dodge mechanics. LOTF is also great and feels like the Dark Souls 4 game everyone wanted, despite a few issues here and there. Just wanted to say Lies of P is more polished, but the other is more akin to what Souls fans crave.
Anything not on my PS Plus account. Let it lapse for the first time in 12 years. I just can’t agree to the new pricing.
So instead it’ll be Baldur’s Gate 3, Last Faith and Lords of the Fallen. The first and last I’ve got 40 hours in and Last Faith is a nice trip down Castlevania lane.
Revita, Blasphemous 2, and Vengeful Guardian are all on the backlog. Currently working on The Last Faith and it’s giving me Castlevania Bloodborne Vibes.
@Tchunga I get that burnt out feeing. I think Lies of P is still a must. 40 hours into LOTF all I can is it’s Dark Souls 4, which, if burnt out, may be one to avoid for awhile.
@Kraven those could be my exact words too. I rarely replay a game immediately or if I do I fall off it. This one I played twice through and started a third before falling off (got the platinum in two runs which may have factored in).
15/20. Could have a couple more but some of those I knew without being able to recall! I knew Jimmy Ryan had been there since the 90s but was fuzzy on that date!
BG3 is the type of game I’ve never touch five years ago. It’s also in my top 5 this year, but only 20 hours in so it’s hard to say it would be higher than 4 or 5 for me as well.
The last live service game that grabbed me like this was rocket league. It’s only not getting more play because BG3 and LOTF keep me busy. I really don’t enjoy live service but this one is a gem. Glad to see it’s getting patches and seems to be doing well.
@LordAinsley Lies of P was so fantastic I ran through it twice just to get all the trophies. The options in games like that and LOTF suit their difficulty, where as Alan is just too limited to make a challenge beyond bullet sponge difficulty.
@LordAinsley After reading Remedy's official page on it, I think you can play the game again in any mode in NG+ for the additional story beats. I, like you, enjoyed the pace of the game for what it was and have no interest in dying repeatedly to test my skills. I'll save that for Lords of the Fallen. So if that is of any interest to you, I will be keeping a lower difficulty to enjoy the new content.
1. Lies of P 2. Alan Wake 2 3. Final Fantasy 16 4. Baldur's Gate 3 (Still have a ways to go but I can see where it still wouldn't be my top) 5. Remnant 2
Honorable Mentions: Wanted Dead, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil Remake.
Then of course Alan Wake 2 some more. What a wild game! Baldurs Gate 3 on the side along with Sanabi on switch, which is an incredible game for the price.
@Mad001 Not what you are 100% looking for, but I know on PS5 that if you go into the menu and exit the game at any point in the level, when you load back up you are right where you left off. If you wanted to save scum and keep a save file you could theoretically do that
@Loamy that helps tremendously! I’m not a stranger to games people label “bad”. One of my favorites this year was Wanted Dead, which asked you to play a particular way to enjoy it. I loved it. So knowing those issues definitely helps me gear myself toward making a purchase on sale for it. I love the premise too, and can forgive a lot of aspects when a studio wants to punch above it’s weight.
@ApostateMage control 2 is already in the works if you didn’t know yet. I’m stoked for it and can only imagine Jesse will reprise the role of main character.
@Dalejrfanfreak interesting to hear you say that as I’ve done very little story content, but can already see how progressive and driven by modern politics they game is in side quests and even the visits to the Foundation. Feels as though they definitely wanted to make sure we all got the message.
@MagisterMagi where did you see that? One More Level made both games from my understanding. 505 published the first one and acted as publisher here too. Maybe I missed it somewhere though.
Played the PS5 demo and though it had been awhile since the first, something felt off; could not figure out why. Maybe this is what was bothering me. It felt like it was larger for the sake of larger and not as tight of an experience, or as fluid.
@Northern_munkey awesome to hear. I’ll probably snag it this week then. I’ve seen graphically where it looks gorgeous but I’ve heard so much about performance it seemed like it might be a wait to buy on sale option.
@Northern_munkey is it worth it? I’ve seen so much back and forth on performance but that all seems to be on the PC side of things. I’ve just finished Lies of P which was so well done I’m a bit concerned LOTF will feel like a budget game by comparison.
Finished Lies of P and started a NG+ run for the platinum. Easily my GOTY.
Also started Spider Man 2 and of course it’s brilliant in story so far and the evolving Arkham Style combat.
Otherwise I’ve debated picking up Baldurs Gate 3 but have reservations since I’m not a CRPG guy. Yet everyone seems to love it. So I don’t know. Convince me I suppose lol.
@atthegates not to be “that guy” lol but Remnant 2 and Immortals both ran on UE5, and having put 50 hours into Remnant 2, there were zero performance issues in that game. So hopefully they can hit that chord rather than LOTF
@Northern_munkey very much in the same boat. I just hit Chapter 9 and what a spike in enemy damage! It’s like a whole new game again. I wanted to do NG+ but Lords looks too tempting.

@Tsushima we really got spoiled this year for Souls style games.

@DrVenture69 its tough for the first fight or two, gives you room to breathe and then the last two areas ramp it up again.

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 Indie Game of 2023
Sea of Stars was great but I never finished it. A bit long for what it was. Dredge I just started and it has its hooks in me.
Other honorable mention: The Last Faith, which I also just started.
Re: Game of the Year: Khayl's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023
Nice to finally see Lies of P on a list. It was my GOTY alongside BG3, though I haven’t finished the latter yet.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 508
@Generiko1999 I really liked Valkyrie Elysium. Did it light my world on fire? No. But was the combat very enjoyable for what it was? 100%
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 508
Obsessively still playing Lords of the Fallen and BG3. I can’t explain how much both live in my brain.
I also started Last Faith as an indie to give myself a breather from those two massive games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 507
The trinity of Lords of the Fallen, Baldur’s Gate 3, and PowerWash Simulator are at my disposal.
I started a NG+ run of Alan Wake 2 for the new story bits but decided I’d wait until I cleared out a few other games before diving back in.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 506
Lots of BG3 and Lords of Fallen for me.
Honestly though I’m killing time until I can NG+ Alan Wake 2.
I may also PowerWash simulate this weekend and check out a few smaller titles. We shall see!

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2023?
1. Lies of P
2. Alan Wake 2
3. Final Fantasy 16
4. Baldur's Gate 3 (Still have a ways to go but I can see where it still wouldn't be my top)
5. Remnant 2
Honorable Mentions: Wanted Dead, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil Remake.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 505
Alan Wake 2 Platinum 117 this weekend.
Then some smaller titles. Maybe Gungrave Gore, Sanabi, Gal Guardians or something before hitting two big heavy hitters…..
Lords of the Fallen and BG3!
That’s all. Enjoy your weekend all!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 504
Platinum all wrapped up on Lies of P so this weekend is all about….
1. Alan Wake 2 and it’s platinum
2. Lords of the Fallen progress
3. Diving back into Baldurs Gate 3
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 503
It’s all about the platinum in Lies of P
Then of course Alan Wake 2 some more. What a wild game! Baldurs Gate 3 on the side along with Sanabi on switch, which is an incredible game for the price.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 502
Finished the Spidey Platinum and Alan Wake Remastered and then immediately dove into BG3. It’s awesome but I can’t play it in large swathes.
So I’ve picked up Sanabi on Switch and Alan Wake 2 because I am still all about being Alan at the moment.

@Loamy is quantum error fun or enjoyable or got some jank to it that still makes it a blast to play? I’m on the fence with that one!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 501
Wrapping up the platinum in Spider Man 2, then working on the platinum for my GOTY Lies of P!
I May finally crack open BG3 this weekend or dive straight into finishing Alan Wake Remastered so I can get AW2!
Enjoy the weekend everyone
Re: First Remnant 2 DLC The Awakened King Out 14th November
