Nintendo Copies the Astro Bot Concept, Sells You Switch 2's Tutorial 1

Nintendo has been keeping a close eye on Sony, it seems.

Astro’s Playroom, which comes pre-installed on every PS5, is a wonderful introduction to the console, showing off its various features across a bright and breezy four-hour platforming romp.

Nintendo Switch 2: Welcome Tour is a similar concept, taking you inside your spangly new hardware and allowing you to learn about its features. While its gameplay is quite different, it’s even presented similarly, in that you’re controlling a character “inside” your Switch 2.

But there’s a catch – you’ll need to purchase this game.

As of right now, we don’t know how much it’ll cost, but it’s alarming that Nintendo has effectively created a playable tutorial that players will need to pay for. The aforementioned Astro’s Playroom was, of course, completely free for all PS5 owners.

It fits with the theme of the Switch 2 thus far, to be fair, which will also see tentpole titles priced at up to $79.99 – much more expensive than their PS5 counterparts.
