Sword of the Sea PS Plus

In a slice of news that got a little bit buried amongst all the State of Play announcements last night, Sword of the Sea will actually launch straight onto PS Plus Extra.

The gorgeous looking, Journey and ABZU-inspired PS5 game confirmed a 19th August release date during the aforementioned broadcast. That's a Tuesday, by the way, so it'll seemingly drop alongside the rest of August's Extra and Premium titles (which are obviously yet to be announced).

"We can’t wait for you to get your hands on it and start your surfing adventure," writes creative director Matt Nava, who reveals the PS Plus inclusion on the PlayStation Blog.

Offering a quick gameplay overview, Nava explains: "Like our previous titles ABZU and The Pathless, this game focuses on unique and engaging movement. At its core, Sword of the Sea is all about surfing. You’ll be carving your way across mysterious moving waves of sand on the ancient and powerful hoversword."

Basically, it sounds like Sword of the Sea is taking those amazing surfing sections from Journey, and expanding the concept across a whole game. We can't wait to go for a ride.
