Re: Round Up: Battlefield 1 PS4 Reviews Storm the Trenches

DietSmile

Every time i see a battlefield or COD game get a 9, i remember the horrible launches of BF 3 and 4, how we'd have a full group for COD for less than 3 weeks before everyone went back to their regular rotation, and how it never felt like the $120 was justified. Gonna skip all of them this year. I've lived through no overwatch, i'll live a bit richer without these.

Re: Review: Rise of the Tomb Raider (PS4)

DietSmile

@JaxonH After having just finished both games within a week of each other, i wholeheartedly agree with you. Uncharted without a doubt has the edge in terms of story, voice talent, and graphics, but it barely felt like a game. ROTR has fantastic combat, large hubs with reasons to explore, and a great upgrade/crafting system. I'll never forget the UC series for their story, and superb graphics, but i'll also never play them again, while i can see myself going through ROTR a few times at least.

Re: Out Today: Lara Croft Returns to PS4 in Rise of the Tomb Raider

DietSmile

There's a lot that this game does that would've been welcome in UC a long time ago. Combat is better in every aspect, from the AI to your options of how to tackle every situation. The metroidvania style maps give you a reason to go back and explore....oh it's not linear, either. Needless to say, if you go in expecting a story heavy, linear cover shooter like uncharted, this isn't what you're going to get.

Re: Review: Dragon Quest Builders (PS4)

DietSmile

Played the demo and enjoyed it for what it was. I do get the feeling that it would wear out it's welcome after getting everything reset a few times. Maybe i'll pick up it's eventual sequel in a year or so when they flesh out some actual combat mechanics and a deeper progression system.

Re: Mafia III Reviews Will Remain in the Bayou Beyond Launch

DietSmile

Considering i can't get mafia 2 to run properly on a decent pc so i could finish it up before getting this one....i'm perfectly happy sitting this one out until it goes on sale and gets a few month's worth of patches and fixes under it's belt. The commercials aren't doing it any favors either, it looks horribly outdated by current gen standards.

Re: PS4 Slim Sales Off to a Slow Start in the UK

DietSmile

@Jackrov Boy did you pick the wrong place to diss Sony and the PRO. Sammy is a true PS veteran! You're insulting his basic rights as a human being by stating your displeasure with Sony! In all seriousness though, you don't need a pro if you don't have a 4K TV. There won't be enough differences at 1080 to justify the price, and honestly, a few extra frames on some games won't make the world fall apart. Just enjoy what you have, and watch everyone else vigorously defend their purchase while knowing they probably wasted their money.

Re: Hands On: Destiny: Rise of Iron Seems Like Another Solid Expansion

DietSmile

@BAMozzy lol keep telling yourself they require "timing and coordination", you're over complicating raids that people beat within minutes of release. How am i supposed to learn the raids if i never get in? You telling me they couldn't create a separate matchmaking pool, and give out lower gear, but still allow everyone the opportunity to at least experience the raid? That's them being lazy, not me pal. You sound like a grade A a**hat, the type of toxic perso that shames people who aren't as leet as you. Sounds like you have some issues you need to work out.

Re: Hands On: Destiny: Rise of Iron Seems Like Another Solid Expansion

DietSmile

@stevejcrow It's a terrible way to have the game set up, and every other AAA MMO available has ways to access end game raids and content with in game systems, not requiring a website, or even friends. Bungie is stubborn, and they claim their raids are "too difficult" to be completed by a pug group, and everyone knows that's simply not true. As long as they continue to ignore those of us who won't resort to third party matchmaking, i'll continue to ignore their laziness.

Re: Hands On: Destiny: Rise of Iron Seems Like Another Solid Expansion

DietSmile

I think the only way i would even consider buying into destiny again would be raid and nightstrike matchmaking. The truth is, of my dozen or so friends that play destiny, none of them have ever been on in a group to do one of those. I've never done one. I refuse to resorting to a matchmaking website. It should be built into the game. I'm being denied end game content because my friends have different work schedules than me, and i'm not paying for that anymore.

Re: Soapbox: Uncharted 4's Higher Difficulties Kill the Joy of Combat

DietSmile

I've gotten to the point in my life where i enjoy a challenge, and usually start a game on a higher difficulty, but i'm not ashamed to turn it down if i get frustrated. Dying light was a big one for me, as i wanted to enjoy the increased xp and loot on hard, but couldn't stand the way the mechanics would "sometimes" work, and cause several cheap deaths.

Re: PS4 Pro Requires Very Little Investment from Developers

DietSmile

For a normal, non 100 hour+ game with a huge amount of content that doesn't include two lengthy expansions made by a large AAA company, they absolutely can spare the manpower. Everyone seems to forget CDPR made a high quality game, but they are not a large company like, say ND or EA. And to be honest, I find digital foundry to simplify things to an obsurd degree at times, so I'll take their statement with a bucket of salt, especially considering they create zero games themselves.

Re: 'No Plans' For The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro Patch, Says Developer

DietSmile

@get2sammyb Honestly, anything above what you're getting on PS4 as it stands is strictly eye candy and bragging rights on PC. Everyone was happy with games being locked at 30 fps on PS4 until they found out there was a slight possibility to raise it. If the pro truly does what Sony claims by helping to steady framerates even without a patch, I'd say just be thankful for that.

Re: 'No Plans' For The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro Patch, Says Developer

DietSmile

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi They've shown us, the customers, more good will and support in the past few years with their games than any other company, period. I am not one to jump to the defense of just any company, but you're 100% wrong in this case. Take the donkey you rode in on back to the SALT mines and sincerely, plough yourself.

Re: 'No Plans' For The Witcher 3 PS4 Pro Patch, Says Developer

DietSmile

Good. I'd rather see them focus on Cyberpunk. If you want a smoother framerate on Witcher 3, don't blow 400 bucks on Pro, work on upgrading your pc. I've played it on both systems and pound for pound, even on medium settings on PC, it is much more optimized than it's PS4 counterpart.

Re: Reaction: Shrewd Sony Looks to Continue Market Domination with PS4 Pro

DietSmile

The only thing MS, Sony, and nintendo have taught me in the past 6 months is that my decision to stop buying consoles after this gen and focus on my gaming pc was 100% the correct move. I just don't have the time, money, or patience to see which of these half measures and underwhelming gimmicks actually pan out to something worth buying. I'd say I'd miss the exclusives, but uncharted 4, ratchet and clank, and halo 5 sit on my shelf, unfinished and collecting dust.

Re: Rumour: PS4 Slim Has an Overheating Problem? We Wouldn't Worry Just Yet

DietSmile

@ShogunRok Or, you could quit posting rumors and wait for facts. Then again, based on the rubbish that I've seen in the past 3 days, if you weren't posting rumors, you really wouldn't be posting ANYTHING worth reading.
Oh, and they're using old AMD tech, no doubts in my mind it will be loud, and cause overheating issues. The only way to combat that is to build a console the size of an old VCR like they did with X1.

Re: FFS EA, Are You Making a Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster or Not?

DietSmile

Why is this so hard to follow? EA said months ago they weren't remastering anything, period. One guy says he's "looking into" the POSSIBILITY of a remaster. Nowhere has anyone even close to stated it was going to happen. It would be a bad move anyways, giving people the opportunity to play what eventually became a bigger disaster from Casey Hudson's lies than anything the no man's sky drama has been about.
