Re: Feature: Should You Buy the PS4 Pro?

DietSmile

My last post here. I enjoyed some articles from Ramsey, but the rest is borderline clickbait. I can understand this is a playstation website, but i cannot excuse the dozens of articles that all just say the same.exact.thing.over.and.over. that i have to wade through to get to a decent article. We get it sammy, the Pro, and PSVR before it were the second and third comings of christ. But the amount of trash you're spewing out just to get a few clicks is severely off-putting. I found this site through N4G, and so far, every site i've found through there seems to turn up this way, so i'm steering clear of that clickbait generator as well. Thanks for some good articles Ramsey, you deserve better than the immaturity you're posting along side of.

Time to look for a new site, the line between blatant over marketing and clickbait is becoming very blurry. When PS4 first came out and was criticized for it's weak hardware, it wa viciously defended by the "gameplay over graphics" crowd, and now that there is a slight bump in hardware, it's all about the shinies now? Come on, you're better than this.

Re: Activision Talks Destiny 2 at Its Latest Financial Briefing

DietSmile

@TIEMs Every other major player in the MMO genre has found a way to make endgame content and raids accessible for everyone, except Destiny. When i brought this same subject up on this very site, i was told it was a horrible idea because "raids are tough" and require communication, yet i can hop into rift, ff14, warcraft, or even swtor, and access raids with auto group. It's stupid simple, all they have to do for an auto group raid is lower the difficulty, lower the loot, and voila, a learning tool with minimal rewards. Honestly, it would be the only thing that would even allow me to consider destiny 2. Forcing people to use a third party website to get a raid together is just ignorant when there are other ways to make EVERYBODY happy.

Re: Sony Treating Action RPG Nioh as a First-Party PS4 Game, Will Publish in the West

DietSmile

@Feena Nobody gives nintendo hell about devil's third because it looked bad from the very beginning, and continued to look bad up until launch. If there was ever a game that screamed "don't buy me" it was that one, and you'd only have yourself to blame. Meanwhile, sony and hello games super hyped and over promised on NMS, and after playing the nioh beta, i'd say they're on the same course here as well.

Re: Review: Titanfall 2 (PS4)

As someone who hasn't played a COD game in a few years, and having just dropped 20+ hours into BF1, i will say it is a huge and refreshing change of pace. The MP is definitely fun, challenging, and addicting. I have a feeling the next few weeks will be split between this and BF1.

Re: Sony's Platinum Headset Delayed into January

DietSmile

I know they added 7.1 and 3D audio, but is that enough to justify such a high price tag? Is there more than that? I got my gold headset for $50 new and i'm pretty happy with them, although the battery life is a tad on the low side.

Re: Woah! PS4 Pro Goes 80s in Uber-Cheese Commercial

DietSmile

@wiiware Do you think that's a good alternative to say, sony putting up as many comparison videos and features as they can before launch? Because i don't. Most people aren't going to go out of their way to DF. Putting up a series of 4K comparison videos on youtube would be a much better use of marketing money. Nonsense commercials aren't going to move units, it's only going to make for a daily boring pro article.

Re: Woah! PS4 Pro Goes 80s in Uber-Cheese Commercial

DietSmile

Another day, another pro article. Maybe instead of making claims and cheesy commercials they should be showcasing exactly what all this "power" will be capable of besides an already obsolete 4k upscale and a few resolution/framerate bumps (IF the developers decide to do them)

Re: Game of the Year Knack Will Be Enhanced by PS4 Pro

DietSmile

@rjejr Also keep in mind that any game you buy on disc will still rip all of the content onto the PS4's hard drive, the disc basically acts as a security check. So yeah, if you plan on getting more than 10 games on disc, 1TB or higher is highly recommended if you want them all installed at once.

Re: Game of the Year Knack Will Be Enhanced by PS4 Pro

DietSmile

@rjejr Most current gen games require you to download all of the DLC even if you don't own it, as they'll roll it up into patches. I guess all i can about it is save up for a bigger hard drive, or limit your installs, because pro patches will most likely be a required download, and depending on the complexity of said patch, could range anywhere from a few MBs to a few GBs.

Re: Review: Batman: Return to Arkham (PS4)

DietSmile

Replayability is definitely not as high as you claim. As someone who grinded through 100% of AA and AC at their original releases, i was STILL burnt out when AK came out. The grind is real in these games if you want 100%.

Re: Evolve's No Longer Going Free-to-Play on PS4

DietSmile

@PorllM The pure definition of repetition is a match of overwatch, or TF2 if you like the originals they stole it from. One team fights the other, half of each team go after kills instead of objectives, and people whine about broken characters and trash talk each other. Rinse and repeat.

Re: Don't Expect Reviews of Skyrim and Dishonored 2 Before Launch on PS4

DietSmile

@Churchy Bethesda blacklisted kotaku a long time ago after their fallout 4 leak, i doubt it's from that. I visited kotaku for a month after fallout 4 released, and it was hipster nonsense, terrible jokes, and literally an article or two every day praising fallout 4. Needless to say, Bethesda wrote them off a long time ago.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want to Know About PS4 Pro?

DietSmile

I recently had a friend ask me if he should get a pro. He already has an X1, doesn't plan on getting a scorpio or 4K TV anytime in the next three years. He also has a very tight enclosure for his consoles. I suggested him getting the slim, and spending the $100 he would be saving on an extra controller and psplus, or waiting until black friday for a package slim deal. The pro is very much an unnecessary half measure, coming way too early and offering something that will be outclassed in months.

Re: Titanfall 2 Runs Better and Looks Better on PS4 Pro

DietSmile

@NintendoFan4Lyf Anything to push the pro agenda like it's the second coming of christ and worth the price of admission. I'm surprised we didn't get another snarky "it only took one person to make the pro patch, where's my witcher 3 patch" comment.

Re: Review: Battlefield 1 (PS4)

DietSmile

@Boerewors If you wait 3 or 4 months, you can spend $60 instead of $120 when the game goes on sale. It will happen, it's just up to you to have the patience. Work on the backlog a little bit and see how many of your friends are still playing it in March.

Re: PS4 Exclusive Days Gone Looks Insane on PS4 Pro

DietSmile

Still complaining about witcher 3 not getting a pro patch i see. I can always tell when it's a sam article by the title, throwing out phrases like "x title looks amazing on pro" and then seeing a backhanded comment on how many people it takes to make pro patch.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Official, Launches Fall 2017 on PS4

DietSmile

@Neolit What you say is unfortunate but true, and i know it. I just see games like Witcher 3, with a huge open world, getting launched across each platform at the same time, and they're still raking in the money today. I would be willing to bet that CDPR had a smaller team for that than rockstar will have for RDR2 as well. I am aware the online portion will be the most challenging aspect...but i'm not really interested in a western GTA online. Just sucks knowing we have to wait, hopefully months instead of years, because of rockstar's business practices.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Official, Launches Fall 2017 on PS4

DietSmile

@Feena 8 million copies sold on PC, two years after launch. Countless mods that introduce tangible gameplay and graphical changes, extending the replayability, for many, ten fold. Yet, with all that, no simultaneous launch, because rockstar knows their fanbase well, and knows they will double, or triple dip, by 2020, when the X2, PS5, and PC versions become available. I'm passing on the console version, because GTAV is vastly superior on PC, and i'm not buying multiple copies to support their greedy business plan. Every system has their advantages and disadvantages, one isn't superior to the other until you get to individual preference and willingness to do more than just pick up a controller. Yelling out "pc master race lolz" is just as ignorant and unnecessary as "console peasant".

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Official, Launches Fall 2017 on PS4

DietSmile

@FaultyDroid Unfortunately there is a stigma attached to the "PC master race" , but there are those of us who share their gaming hobby across all platforms. Some games, like GTAV, are simply superior on PC due to mods, graphics, and gameplay options that just aren't possible on PS4. What is a terrible, however, is that GTAV sold nearly 8 million on PC, two years after it's initial launch, and they STILL won't do a simultaneous launch.
