There was a lot riding on September's PlayStation Plus selection following the recent price hike, but dare we say that Sony's delivered? The lineup includes Journey and Lords of the Fallen on the PlayStation 4 – one of the greatest games ever made and a well regarded Souls clone. That's a strong selection in our opinion – especially seeing as you get thatgamecompany's spiritual experience on the PlayStation 3, too.
Speaking of which, the lineup on Sony's last-gen console includes the likeable Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Plastic's experimental Datura. Meanwhile, on the Vita you'll get visual novel Amnesia: Memories, and all three platforms will receive attractive puzzle platformer Badland. That's a good lineup in our opinion, but what do you think? Worth the extra ten bucks, US readers? Try to stay calm in the comments section below.

Very good selection in my opinion. Complaints in 3-2-1...
Very decent line up if you own more than 1 console. Lords of Fallen seems a bit meh but its probably worth a spin. Everything else seems decent enough and I don't have to pay for Journey.
@Swiket Fixed, lol. ;P
Well damn! I'd say the price hike may be worth it!
Nice I still haven't got around to playing Journey yet.
I'm rubbish at Dark Souls gameplay and Lords of the Fallen is equally unforgiving with my sloth-like reflexes, so I'd HIGHLY recommend it to Dark Souls fans, it has very high production values (up to the first boss at least, I became unstuck at that point and went back to my turn-based RPGs).
Journey I've been meaning to get and would have succumbed if I wasn't inundated with goodness already (so many games, so little time). So I'm pleased!
@get2sammyb it would have been a decent selection for a regular month but after announcing a price increase I was expecting them to at least throw one AAA game to justify it
That's a good month!!!!! I'm actually going to give Journey a go, to see what the fuss is about, and I've considered LOTF a few times.
Thank god I didn't buy Journey, will be looking forward to giving it a shot.
@Tasuki You're in for a treat.
@DualWielding What would have fitted the bill for you?
@DualWielding Not 100% the exact definition of "AAA" but I would have thought Lords of The Fallen is?
Great month compared to what we've been getting, I'm actually looking forward to playing some of them!
Journey is still one of my favourite games I have ever played. With one of the best soundtracks. I do not have any of the other games so its another good month for me. Sony has done it again another happy customer
@DualWielding Lord is as good as some AAA titles, if not better.
very good Month
Just bought Journey in the last sale.
@get2sammyb don't know just from a PR point of view I think they really needed to give a PS4 title that was $60.00 at launch...
Personally the game I'll like to see the most is Gravity Rush Remastered in order to help promote Gravity Rush 2
Great month. LOTF isnt that good i much prefer the souls games but still for free its great. Journey is a game ive been wanting to get but have been too busy playing other stuff so im looking forward to it.
Woops! I own both the PS4 titles. Can't grouse too much though. It's a good selection.
Really strong line up imo, but its just Badland for me. Already own Journey & LOTF and the others don't interest me.
As is often the case, I own half of these games, but I'm always happy with the extra games.
Using the word 'freebies' in the title after they've just put the price up might be a little provocative
Nice month. Journey is a great game. What exactly has thatgamecompany been up to since Journey? I know their next game will be multi platform, but it's been 4 1/2 years since Journey released.
I absolutely fell in love with Journey on ps3, just wandering around and flying was worth it alone but in completing the game there are some of the most beautiful looking set-peice scenes you'll ever come across in gaming, so if you haven't played it you are in for an absolute treat.
As for LotF i like it seems many others have thought about giving it a punt so yeah i am more than happy to give it a shot and redownload and fall in love with Journey all over again, best ps+ month in a long time.
lords fallen looks like a good freebie. Journey Ive never played but after Abzu I was looking to pick it up. Okay month
I really feel like journey is over-rated, but it makes sense to also get people to buy Abzu. Lords of the fallen will be worth a shot so not a terrible month. Still would much prefer axiom verge, shovel knight, Gravity Rush remastered...and um...knack. Yes, I've played journey and knack and I would rather get knack for a second playthrough than journey.
Well this is awkward. While I'm not going to say this is a bad month because it's actually quite good...I'm not a big fan of Souls games and I'm also somehow in the small percentage of people who really disliked Journey. Oh well. Maybe there will be something for me next month.
I can't bring myself to have any interest in journey at all. I've tried to keep an open mind but even free I'm unsure if it's worth an evening. From what I can glean it's a "walking simulator" with some sort of existential or philosophical experience behind it? Seriously though, convince me.
Can't complain about a souls clone though. I just started bloodborne again even though I have the Plat.
Already got journey on its launch day on ps3, good month if you have ps4 and ps3. I hope sony switch ps vita with ps vr soon.

This really is finally a great line up...ok so I might not like any of the games when I get to play them but apart from Prince Of Persia I haven't played any of them and been very interested in at least three
@DualWielding
I own journey but hey, swings and roundabouts. Cannot fault the quality. Maybe now I can complete the co'op trophies. Very happy with Lords and the vita titles. Had actually considered buying amnesia.
Looking forward to playing Journey. I nearly bought it (along with Flower and Flow) a few weeks ago and was still looking to get it soon so will enjoy playing this first.
Will probably still pick up a physical copy if I enjoy it as well.
Amnesia - what an interesting and unusual choice. This is exactly what i have been wanting from Sony in a while - a different type of experience that i would not have bought myself (i like visual novels - steins gate one of my favourite games of last couple of years - but i have never tried an otome. game and never would have thought it would make the cut for plus). Lords of the fallen looks worth a try and nothing more needs saying about journey really. All in all a decent little collection this month. Prince of persia was fun and an easy platinum from memory; and i was tempted by badland in a recent sale.
Great lineup...just wish i hadn't bought journey on its last sale
Daaamn i got lords of fallen like 5 months ago on the games for gold i am not starting that again lol
Looks like a good list. I don't own any of them. Hope they continue wth a solid lineup from here on out.
Seems pretty good! I only own Journey so the rest is good for me Been waiting for a chance to grab LoF so nice month imo
I'd be pleased if I hadn't already bought both of them. Lords of the Fallen is quite good for what it is and Journey could be considered a masterpiece.
Very glad to read this. Great selection, especially since I was thinking about buying these 2 ps4 games the last few weeks.
Journey looks good.
No complaints here
Just want my Folders now.
@Mega-Gazz Now that you put things that way...it's funny how some people love Journey that much and then hate No Man's Sky when they are both 'walking simulators' xD
FINALLY something even worth pressing the download button
@KratosMD I enjoyed that game, weird Otome game
@get2sammyb ..4-5-6-7... keep counting.. Freakin' Journey!!!
and like some pushers.. or squarers already said. If they can keep the PS+ list with solid titles, than all is well. maybe throw in a big Christmas package where we get to pick a theme or avatar. and my mouth will remain shut.
I'm not lowering my pitchfork just yet. It makes sense after they raise the price that they'd have a solid offering. Give it a month or two and I'm betting we'll be back to games from the "Innovator's Sale"
I've yet to play journey. I actually bought it on ps3 a while back now but I'll check it out soon. LOTF doesn't sound like my type of game but I'm willing to give it a bash and I've seen Badlands around so yeah, not a bad lineup in all honesty.
Badland stands out for me, I will give Lotf a miss and I own the outstanding Journey. The otome game is aimed at birds so will probably download this so my wife can play it and tell me how much of a crap husband I am compared to the virtual boyfriends, kicking me out and keeping my vita. Then next month sony can give us boys some Dead or Alive beach volleyball so I can be both sad and single. Who says plus ain't great?
@AFCC Yea, though I guess I'm opposite. I liked no man's sky warts and all... still trying to find a reason to care about journey.
Also, badland is great, kid friendly. Probably not last too long but fun while it lasts.
Not a great month from my perspective. A Meh indie and a game I picked up free on XV1 GwG. I still own the PoP game but never play it - mainly because I don't tend to game on my old consoles.
No doubt its a step up from Sony but not for me this month...
Not bowled over this month! Got Badlands and Journey - not much else for me!!
Sweet, the final straw that decided it's time to let my sub lapse for awhile. One day, my children will inherit my PSN account. I don't want them seeing "games"like journey on there.
Best PS+ month all year. I've wanted to try Journey for a while. I had no plans to play LOTF or that otome game, but I'll sure as heck give them a spin for free. Badlands doesn't look interesting, but I'm sure I'll tryi t at some point.
I'm actually really excited for this month's lineup... Which is something I've never said before. Great job Sony, these are all great games that I've had my eye on! Looks like the price hike was worth it! I hope they'll have good titles like this every more often.
I guess Journey is ok for a freebie. Never really had intended to purchase it before, but the price is right now. Still not convinced that the Plus price hike is worth it. Xbox One Gold's freebies are so much better every month.
I already watched a Journey playthrough before I had a Playstation. So once again, nothing special for me.
@get2sammyb
It's not a terrible selection but seriously, anyone who wanted journey has it by now. I own it, not even sure how since I've never played it, must have been well under 10 bucks at some point
@DualWielding seriously to this day can't believe they won't give up knack or even shadow fall. Are those games really making any money? Obviously they are or they would give them away.
Already have Journey from the days it was new on PS3 so idc. I have an untouched Dark Souls 3 so I wont bother with the other.
@get2sammyb Definitely a solid selection, but I'd still rather no price hike. The problem I have with the majority of the games on offer is that if I really wanted to play them I would have bought them when they came out. I guess this month will be like most in that it adds to my almost insurmountable backlog.
I bought Journey for a couple bucks on a sale and beat it in an hour and a half. It was not worth the small amount of time or money I wasted on it. And yes... I experienced the "magic" of chirping and jumping with other characters.
@get2sammyb No complaints here. That's possibly the best PS4 PS+ lineup yet.
My PS+ has expired and this time i managed to cancel the cheeky well hidden auto renewal. I've already played the excellent Journey anyway and any DS style combat game is a turn off for me. Good selection, though.
@DualWielding Lords of the Fallen is AAA, so is Prince of Persia
Brilliant line-up, exactly what I hoped to see again from PS Plus - variety. There's a bit of everything here and I'm looking forward to trying them all out!
Ehh. Journey is a nice treat for those who havent played it.
Once again, GwG outperforms PS+
Great line up IMO. Unfortunately, I own both.
Lords of the Fallen looks intimidating but Journey and Badland look worth downloading - I'll definitely download Journey at least, been kinda wanting to play that for a while.
Wow great lineup, Datura and Amnesia: Memories where in my wishlist:D
Great selection! I've been tempted to buy Journey on a few of the sales now, but was hoping it would be a freebie soon. Lords of the Fallen was the first game I bought for my ps4, I promptly returned it the sameday. I couldn't beat the first boss lol. It was my first souls-ish game I tried and not being able to dodge after two rolls just destroyed me. I'll have more patients for it now that it will be free.
@lacerz they made Abzu. It just came out in the last month. They may have changed their company name.
This is one of those weird ones that is not really much use to me (already have Journey, don't want to have Lords of the Fallen...) but I can still see that it's a marked improvement on the last few. Now's the chance for you to play journey if you're one of those maniacs that hasn't yet.
Looking forward to playing journey
Welp, another month I can skip PS+
Journey is like what 20 bucks? on PSN I could just go ahead and buy it then no need to spend money on PS plus, i already had Lords of The Fallen for free on Xbox sooo... meh
LOTF might be OK not a bad month.
