Remaining silent does nothing but build up negative hype. Everyone that is expecting the NX to become the second coming of christ are going to be sorely disappointed when it turns out to be another underpowered, gimmick filled console. Since the "official" specs have already been leaked on the neo, might as well just make an official announcement, get out ahead of nintendo, and bury them before they get started.
@Boerewors What happens if sony goes the new 3DS route and locks games behind the neo? Is that something worthy for people to complain about? Because it's starting to worry me. I own all 3 systems from this gen, and even though i have the ability to buy a neo, should i do so if sony locks content? I'm thinking no.
1080p indeed should be a minimum requirement, and asking people to fork out an additional $400 to guarantee that (and still not guarantee 60fps) is a bit much. And "most" games on PS4 that run 1080 are either remasters, indies, or can't maintain a solid 30fps.
I have a PS4 for convenience and exclusives, and my PC for the eye candy. I'd rather spend that $400 on a new PC component than a PS4 with some bumped up specs. This didn't work well for Nintendo's New 3DS, but then again, Sony is taking the correct path by not locking features or games behind the upgraded model. Stupid Nintendo!
Wait, far cry primal was a prequel to 4, and people whined about using the same map. So if this is a prequel to RDR....ah who am i kidding, rockstar never gets criticized for anything.
@Feena If you have Steam you can set it up for Big Picture mode, which would certainly make you feel like you're on a console. Can't help much if you have to stream content from your studio though, that honestly is a bit of work to set up, so i feel you on that.
@Arjan127 When you're constantly reminded of a failure, it makes it less likely you'll forget it when they go to release SF6, and maybe you'll think twice about spending your money on a potential POS. Just my two cents.
I love how a lot of people claim they won't go back to destiny, but will definitely be picking up the sequel. Really? What a waste of money. Most gamers today seem to be immune from repeating their past mistakes when it comes to buying a game that they'll burn out on two weeks after it launches.
@Splatburst If you actually read the first sentence of my comment, i said i agree with him. I wasn't trying to disprove his point at all, just pointing out that he's no longer in the business, and my "attack" was just pointing out the promises him and his team failed to deliver on. Yes, i'm still upset that someone who created some of the greatest RPGs ever made looked at the final code for ME3 and let it go to print. He needs to stick to beer making or whatever he does now.
While i agree with him, i don't really think he should be speaking on issues like this. I mean, releasing the third game in a series that promised big, cohesive, multiple endings and payoffs from your dozens of hours of progression and decision making, and not delivering on that promise is also complete lunacy, is it not?
To be clear, the WiiU external hard drive support isn't a feature, it's a friggin necessity. Whatever brainiac at nintendo that it would be awesome to put a MASSIVE 32GB on their console is hopefully unemployed.
Really a shame that this expansion has been delayed so long on handhelds and consoles. Tyrone admitted they have very limited knowledge on how to optimize the engine they're using for BoI, and that was one of the reasons it was taking so long. Maybe they should've been working on that instead of announcing new games left and right and doing ARG events......
I think the ending of 3 left it open for kratos to come back, just hopefully as some sort of NPC, be it mentor or villain. They did put a bit of effort into making his brother the possible anti-hero, maybe they're going to try and do the GOW series from his perspective?
I really hope that wasn't a tech demo, it felt like it was running at 20fps the whole time, just dogging it. I have no qualms with a game like this at 30, but when it drops under, it is absolutely noticeable, and detracts from the game.
Unless they can produce a console that is on par with my 3 year old gaming pc, i'm not interested. I already have all current gen systems, and i have no desire to go 4K in the next few years. A half step is a waste of money, and smacks of the business practices used when Apple does iphone S models.
After playing the demo, part of me wants to hold out for a PC version down the line, but i'm still a little iffy on Squeenix's ability to make a decent port of a modern FF game. If only they could get Nixxes to do it.....
@rjejr All of the different versions of consoles you mentioned were different in storage capacity only, there were no changes to the cpu or gpu. So that puts the PS4K in a different category altogether if they offer "enhanced graphics"
Seriously, if they lock a new god of war behind a hardware upgrade, i'm selling my PS4 and i'm done. I'd rather go without than have to worry about .5 upgrades every few years to play a few games.
I'll just come here and read the cliff notes. Unless i'm being paid, i would never voluntarily subject myself to seeing or hearing greg miller do anything.
@stevie85 it was mostly a joke, but if the rumors are in fact true, this could happen. Companies would re-release game like, say Dark Souls 3, running at 60fps with enhanced graphics. They could literally do that with EVERY game, make a few graphical changes, up the fps, and boom, instant $60 remaster.
Why buy this game now? Shouldn't i wait for the inevitable Dark Souls 3 remaster on PS4.5? If we thought remasters were bad this gen already, just wait. We'll have the remastered remaster 4.5 editions of every.single.game.
@FullbringIchigo 100% agree as an owner of all 3 systems. I would gladly sacrifice the PS3 and vita games for access to PSnow. If they simply ditch support for them without anything to make up for it, that would be a hard pill to swallow.
@WARDIE As far as i'm concerned, AMD did a real crap job on PS4 and X1 hardware. Their GPUs, CPUs and APUs have yet to really measure up to anything intel or nvidia have already created. They can TALK about creating new hardware all day long, but every single time something comes out of their camp, it's an expensive space heater compared to other options on the market.
@rjejr PS5/XB2 won't be 4k capable, unless they plan on waiting another decade to release them. It's just not going to be financially viable for them to create a machine capable of it, i mean hell, they struggled creating 1080p machines 2 years ago! They're too cheap to attempt it, even in their next gen systems.
With the minimal upgrades they made from PS3 to PS4, i very, very highly doubt PS4.5 would be capable of anything close to 4k. The amount of graphical horsepower needed on PC to achieve a steady 30fps is about $700. Most games on PS4 can't even handle 1080 right now unless they're cut down to 30fps. Maybe PS6 will get there, definitely not PS5 or 4.5.

Re: PS4K Is Codenamed Neo, Has Upgraded Specs, Will Not Supplant Existing PS4 Systems
@MadAussieBloke Could probably skip PS4 and just wait for everything to get remastered or re-remastered for PS5 if this gen is anything to go on.

Re: Poll: Would You Like to See Final Fantasy IX Come to PS4?
Not for what they're currently charging, i'll stick to my PSN version and play on vita. $20 for a port of a mobile game is borderline criminal.
Re: Poll: Would You Like to See Final Fantasy IX Come to PS4?
@Feena If PC gaming feels like "working" you're doing it very, very wrong.

Re: Store Update: 12th April 2016 (North America)
Was looking forward to Binding of Isaac expansion, given the patch last week and the subsection in the trophies showing the expansion....
Re: Destiny's Huge April Update Unleashes Its Super Tonight
Uninstalled this today, just to make sure i had enough room for quality games, like ratchet and clank and uncharted 4.

@BAMozzy Brits probably didn't nominate witcher 3 for anything because they felt it too closely resembled Europe overall
