@Matroskaah okay. I just assumed (incorrectly it would seem) as it was been translated that they meant the whole game comes on two blu-rays not just Midgar.
@johncalmc possibly. It was being translated though so I took it they meant the whole game. Otherwise why mention it at all. If the first just takes place in Midgar then surely that's just one disc.
@johncalmc two parts it seems. I was expecting 3 myself but they said the game will come on two blu-ray discs. I assume they meant the whole game comes on two separate blu-ray releases.
@RoyalGuard yeah it's getting released in two separate parts it seems. As mentioned in this posts title Final Fantasy VII Remake's 'First Game' Takes Place in Midgar Alone.
I'm fine with this if it's good and big enough. What constitutes a full game length though? 8 hours? 30 hours? It's too vague. Also I worry Square-Enix may only release the one part.
Don't think it's PS3 all over again at all. PS3 launched in 2006. Taking into account inflation The 60 gig PS3 launch at $600 which would be about $750 now.
If this come out at say $500 (which would equal about $400 in 2006 btw) and comes with an SSD, I think that's a totally reasonable price.
Wow sounds like it's gonna be my next VR game. Was thinking it's a toss up between this and Everybody's Golf VR, but probably gonna get both to be honest.
So many VR games I've yet to play. I still really wanna get Tetris Effect And Beat Saber. Then soon No Man's Sky VR patch. Can't keep up. It's great.
Someone pointed out on another site that COD isn't even in the top 20, which in previous years was pretty much a permanent fixture in the top 5.
Maybe being a free game people are Playing Apex Legends Battle Royale instead of buying COD. Also the lack of single player seems to have had more of an effect than first thought.
So excited for this. I hope along with everything else, that they nail the music and don't mess with it too much. All this teasing has inspired me to re-download and play some more of the original.
Obviously I'd rather it be the whole FF7 game but I'd be totally fine if it's split into say 25-30 hour chunks. I could also see it getting expanded massively as a remake with extra depth to the maps and all the dialogue replacing text from the PS1 game.
Wow very tempted to pick this up now. I love WipEout and have fond memories of playing the Rollcage demo I got with the PlayStation Magazine back in the day.
I think saying "It may have been a dud" is very different to saying for example "I think It's a dud"
I pointed it out in the first place because as I said originally, Push Square posted a feature the day before about how a 7 out of 10 being referred to as bad is ridiculous.
@JoeBlogs Just to be clear, I personally love Pushsquare. It's my favourite and first stop for PlayStation news features and reviews and I simply point this out in a purely constructive way.
A 6 out of 10 and a dud are two completely different things. Regardless of who reviewed the game, the Push Square verdict is a six for the review. So it should be treated as such. I could be wrong but I think an element of consistency needs to be applied to each website.
I was fully expecting to get free VR games every month after Sony stopped the Vita and PS3 games. Maybe even an extra PS4 game. How foolish of me.
To be honest I've hardly played any of the free Plus games this gen. PS+ was at it's best during the PS3 era. I feel like I've constantly been waiting for it to improve and with the exception of a few decent months it's never really reached the heights it did last gen.
Back when Plus was still good and during a few good sales i stacked many years of the service. So I think mine runs out some time around 2021 or 2022. Oops.
@doctommaso No, it says "It may have been a dud" not it sold like a dud.
And i don't think you understood my point. Articles mentioning things like this promotes the idea that a 6 or a 7 is essentially a dud even if a review was positive in the first place.
Like I said originally i get that it's a throwaway comment but I thought I'd just point out the irony considering the article posted on this site just one day before stating how ridiculous it is that games getting 7 are considered bad by some.
Somewhat agree with this article. However games journalists don't help with this. Not referring to this site but when popular sites and podcasts like Kinda Funny ( for example Games Daily 26/04/2019, 16mins and 5 seconds in) refer to Day's Gone as a "dud" It's promoting the perception that a 72 metacritic score is not only below average but that it's a "review dud". So that anything less than amazing is bad.
I will happily buy a 7/10 game day 1 under the right circumstances (the subject interests me, I'm looking for a new game and can afford it at the time, also if it's made by a developer I trust Naughty Dog etc). So many variables go into it.
I do plan on getting Days Gone but at this point I'll be picking it up when it's in a heavy sale.
I was thinking Easter 2020 would be a good time to get stock in order before the Christmas rush so thats a bit of a shame. I'll fine with waiting mind. Not in any rush.
Probably be October next year then. Although early September would be better for me personally. That's my Birthday month 😁
@Rob_230 yeah I'm surprised they haven't done that already. A slim model marketed at the budget price range similar to what they did with the PSOne. Maybe even an all digital PS4.
I'm so happy the PS5 will have backwards compatible. I've come to terms with the PS4 not having PS3 BC due to all the remasters of the best PS3 games but I'm definitely done with re-buy my games every new gen.
I think current consoles will stand the test of time much better than previous one's. Graphics are getting less important as the standard is already so high.
Great to see Sony rebound so well after the PS3, which was still a brilliant console that a I feel is underappreciated. For me the PS4 had a bit of a slow start for content, but once it got going it's not stopped. It's an absolute beast.
I've definitely enjoyed this generation more than any since around the Dreamcast gen. And that is a huge surprise to me being in my mid 30's with 2 young kids. I thought my gaming days would be slowing down, not increasing.
Hopefully the PS5 can get somewhere close to these numbers or more.
Great review. Had a feeling this may fall a little short of Sony's usual standard. I'm still planning on picking it up but I was never gonna get it on day one. Even if it was a 9/10. I'll pick it up when it's around £20.
Super impressed by what's been announced, seemingly out of nowhere. Very strange Sony didn't save all this for a conference or State of Play. Been hoping BC would be included so much but totally wasn't expecting an SSD due to the cost.
Considering the PS4 launched at £349, the announced specs of the PS5 (SSD in particular) and the features (backwards compatible) also, taking into account inflation in the last 5 years I'd be totally fine with paying £449 which is presuming it'd be $499 USD, thats my guess anyways. I would go up to £500 tops but no more.
Would be even happier if it was £400 of course but i think that's unlikely.

@LieutenantFatman yeah this post confirms that.

Re: E3 2019: Final Fantasy VII Remake's 'First Game' Takes Place in Midgar Alone
Releasing as two blu-ray releases. So I can deal with that. I was expecting 3 parts.
Re: Talking Point: Did Square Enix's E3 2019 Press Conference Live Up to the Hype?
Okay i was looking forward to this but I'm officially hyped now.
Also I noticed (if I heard correctly) they plan to release in two installments. I had anticipated 3, so that's good then.
PlayStation won E3 without even showing up. 😎

Love that they nailed the music too. Looks and sounds great. Fingers crossed.

Man, this looks good.
Re: E3 2019: Hear Ryo Hazuki Speak in New Shenmue III Trailer
Love it. Voice work is spot on. Very impressed considering the amount of time between this one and the last.
Gonna re-play 1 and 2 again in preparation. Playing Shenmue for me is like putting on some comfy slippers and going back in time to my childhood.
Shenmue VR next please.

Always great to see VR doing so well nearly three years after launch.

Absolutely loved that. Exactly my sort of game.
Re: E3 2019: Apex Legends Season 2 Kicks Off 2nd July, New Legend Named Wattson
Reading the blog post I came across this...
You didn’t think King’s Canyon would look the same forever, did you? Keep an eye out for even more as we get closer to the launch of Season 2.
So it looks like modifications to the map may still be coming for season 2. 😁
Re: E3 2019: Apex Legends Season 2 Kicks Off 2nd July, New Legend Named Wattson
Cool. Was really hoping for some modifications to the map or a new game mode though.

Is the PS4 even discounted? I remember seeing the 500gig slim for £150 last year.
Re: You Won't Fail a Mission for Killing Civilians in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
This really needs to be maketed to adults. The problem is loads of kids play COD.
Have to agree with previous comments not been this excited for a COD game in many years. Probably MW2.
Re: Upload VR's E3 2019 Showcase Will Feature More Than 30 Games
Yep this is what I'm most excited about for E3.
Re: Shenmue III Delayed to November 2019
I'm fine waiting another 3 months. I'd much rather they release a finished game than something 90% complete.
Could even see it falling to Jan/Feb next year too.
Re: Star Wars X-Wing Level in Dreams Rivals EA's Efforts

Re: Everybody's Golf VR Demo Tees Off Today on PS Store
I'm so looking forward to playing this. Probably more than any golf game I've played before. That's because of VR.
The annoying thing is i can't play it for the moment because I need a new PS4 camera.
Re: EA Access Confirmed for PS4, Arrives This Summer
@Stragen8 I agree. I'm amazed sometimes how so many games quietly get confirmed on the blog. With little to no fanfare.

Re: Guide: Best PS4 Graphics
Regarding this feature, it says The Order 1886 "It may have been a dud" was it though? This site gave it 6 out of 10. And I wouldn't consider 6 a dud.
This site literally posted a feature yesterday that a 7 out of 10 being referred to as bad is ridiculous.
I know it's just a throwaway comment but this is one of the reasons games getting 6 and 7's are panned so much.

Anyone know how well the sales compare with The Order 1886? Did that have a strong start?
Re: Feature: We're Making a Game with Dreams on PS4 - Issue 1

Re: PS5's Price Will Be 'Appealing to Gamers', Says Cerny
£400 = 100% Chance of day one purchase.
£450 = Highly likely to buy day one.
£500 = Probably buy within the first 6 months.
£550+ = Waiting for a price reduction.
My bet would be £450.
