Re: Death Stranding 2 Is Causing Some PS5s to Overheat

Dange

My launch PS5 has been shutting down without any warning whatsoever since I started playing this on Thursday. The first time it did it the PS5 felt really hot so I waited a while, gave the console a good clean and tried again later. It was well ventilated too. Happened 4 times now in the last few days while playing Death Stranding 2. Twice while I was in the menus. and it has not done this previously with any other games, but maybe my console is just dying, I'm not sure. It was only really hot the first time it did this. All the other hard shut downs if felt fine to the touch when it happened. Not once has it warned me the console is too hot. It just turns off mid game.

I'm currently about 7 hours into Death Stranding 2. Absolutely gutted as I'm loving it but scared to play it now for fear of corrupting my data. I've just ordered a replacement and upgraded to a PS5 Pro so I'm just waiting for that to arrive.

On the plus side. I am super excited to play the game with the Pro enhancements soon. It's forced me into getting something I otherwise wouldn't have got. 😀

Re: $100 for GTA 6 Is 'A Bridge Too Far' Even for Rockstar, Says Analyst

Dange

£50 is the max I will spend on games. Unless it's a Naughty Dog game or Kojima game then it's day 1.

For the most part, I just can't justify spending more than £50 when I have other things like a family to feed and bills to pay so I'll usually wait a few months for the first good discount sales.

Re: The Story of Shenmue Is Far from Over, Says ININ

Dange

"the story is far from over" does sound like more than just a port the way that is worded.

Wishful thinking I know but Shenmue 4 and a season 2 of Shenmue: the animation please.

I'm feeling like a replay of the original game is due soon. It's been a few years.

Re: The Last of Us' Cancelled PS5 Multiplayer Was 'More Fun' Than Any Other Online Game

Dange

I don't know anything about games development but I'd love to know why they couldn't just make and release the base game, then pass it onto another team to continue development.

Or build a team specifically to allow ND to move on. If the game was successful enough, it would've been worth it.

Isn't that what Respawn did? Built a completely separate Apex Legends team so they could still make other games like Star Wars Survivor and keep supporting Apex at the same time too.

It just seems like a waste to throw away all the hard work ND must have put into The Last of Us online over the last 3+ years or so.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection (PS5) - Three Classics in One Messy Bundle

Dange

@Bez87 This was always the way... What do you mean? I think you misunderstood my comment. I'm mostly referring to the fact I'd prefer that the collection of games were accessible within the one menu like most collections are. Seems a bit half baked. This review and my comment have nothing to do with a remake or the Snake Eater remake.

Also, I've made no judgement, I haven't even bought it yet. The MGS games are absolute classics which I plan to buy (again) soon. Just not at full price. 😀

Re: Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways (PS5) - Ada Wong Fronts More Sublime RE Action

Dange

@LiamCroft I just want to respectfully add a couple of points around your mention of discounts for games after launch.

I think a review SHOULD take into account the RRP. I'll use this as an example. Call of Duty is a £70 game at launch. If it's discounted to £30, it's still a £70 game at launch, just now heavily discounted so better value for money when a customer is getting a £70 game for £30.

Even more so for DLC. If a 10/10 rated random DLC releases at £20 and another 10/10 rated DLC of the exact same quality and interest comes out at double the price. Which am I going go for?... The one that's £20! So the RRP is something I need to consider as part of the review. The price the publishers set should also be reviewed. Have they priced the DLC too high?

You said "does a score go up if the price goes down" no, but does a review score go up when a game gets patched and is in a much better state 6 months later? No. It's based on when the game launched.

Doesn't need to be a big deal made about it in a review. But I do feel it's an important piece of information for a reader to consider. You have a section at the top that says who the publisher is, who the developer is etc. I'd love to see RRP as part of that. It add some context to the review based on the price the game came out at.

Is it stands with this DLC, based on the review and knowledge that it's $10 at launch. It sounds like they could have sold it for double and still be worth it. They should be commended for pricing it so low.

Re: PS5 Quietly Crosses 4 Million Units Milestone in Japan

Dange

I think somewhere around 105m and 115m all told.

Although I think PS4 is around 117m so it would be nice to see PS5 top PS4 sales. I'm sure Sony would be happy around that ballpark regardless.

I suppose it all depends on the support and quality of games over the next few years though.

We are definitely entering the peak years for console sales now for a console generation.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 2's Opening Weekend the Biggest of Any Video Game Movie Ever

Dange

@Quintumply Really sorry but I feel the following is, while true. It's still unintentionally misleading-

"it should be noted that the original arrived just as COVID-19 was becoming a major concern, meaning attendance at movie theatres was dwindling"

The film launched domestically on February 14th. Covid was a thing then, but lockdown wasn't until a good month or so later around 19th March and later (23rd March in the UK).

It was only really the last week or two that it effected numbers up to the point going to the cinema was stopped in March entirely. Sonic 1 was definitely impacted by the pandemic, no doubt. But I feel it was negligible at launch. It was impacted mostly at the tail end of the theatrical release window.

My point being just that Sonic 2 numbers are even more impressive considering some people are still avoiding cinema now, certainly more than in mid February 2020, when people didn't realize how bad thing we're going to get.

Not quite sure why I had to share that but, I've just had a coffee and I'm killing some time so maybe that's why. 😃

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Has Been Offline All Day

Dange

@Corc11 The issue is if this wasn't an always online game then this wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

It's a first world problem indeed. And we all know more important things are going on in the world. But that is not relevant to this topic. Bad things are happening in the world all the time.

It doesn't mean people can't have issues with games and services they work hard to pay for and can't access. The simple solution to this would have been allow the single player to be available offline.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Has Been Offline All Day

Dange

@Corc11 You say play something else. Why should they. People bought the game for £70 (or equivalent) they should be able to play whenever they want.

I myself get about 1 day a week that I can play games. Sometimes less with work and family. So that free time is valuable to me. When I have that little bit of time I want to play whatever. If it's GT7 then tough luck. Not allowed today. Better luck next week.... Or the week after that if the servers are online then...

I don't understand why people defend companies like this. It's anti-consumer.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Update 1.07 Is Available Now, Here Are the Patch Notes

Dange

@Yorgen What you said gave me an interesting thought that I'm suprised doesn't happen. Games could release at a slightly lower price for a limited window say the first week of launch at £10/$10 off.

This way people have an incentive to buy early and are rewarded someway for being essentially final beta testers. And the publishers wins as it surely convinces more to buy at launch.

Re: PS Plus November 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

Dange

@Spiders that's fair enough. I agree defending corporations is a bit daft. For me, I'd defend the value of Plus. I find sometimes people forgot the amount of content they're getting. We get some really great games (and some not so good ones). Everyone is entitled to an opinion of course, I just think people forget it's the price of one game a year.
