Re: Streets of Rage 4 Is Looking Like a Seriously Superb Sequel

Dange

I was just about to comment that I hate the music, but great to see that mentioned above. I think Streets of Rage 1 and 2 nailed it. They had such a cool vibe. I hated the music in 3 though it just didn't fit. Hopefully they can sort it out for 4 before release as everything else looks spot on. The music is such a massive part of what makes the games so guuurd.

Re: No Man's Sky Beyond Patch 2.04 Fixes Some Nasty Crashing Issues on PS4

I tried the Beyond update first on my old 100 hour save. It did seem sluggish and the game crashed on me. I'll come back to that when it's had a few patches. But when I started a new game in VR, I had no issues whatsoever with performance. No motion sickness either. So VR is definitely my preferred option for NMS now.

Re: No Man's Sky Beyond Patch Notes Are Truly Gigantic and Game-Changing

@LieutenantFatman Yep I've just come off it now. Decided to restart the game for VR (although I'm not gonna erase my 100+ hour save)

My own first impressions playing on a PS4 Pro....

Wow. They really have spent a lot of time on the VR content it's not just NMS 2D in VR. Lots of new mechanics. It feels like it was built from the ground up as a VR game.

Looks great (PSVR headset resolution aside)

Everything looks huge. The trees ships mountains etc.

It took me about an hour to really get the hang of the controls with the Move controllers. I found them quite confusing at first but stick with it and it'll all just start to click and make sense. @DigiTM Movement on foot is by teleportation which I normally don't bother with, but it's actually really fun and quick to get about. After an hour of playing I don't miss playing with free movement at all. First time I can say that about a VR game.

Getting in the cockpit is an amazing moment. Lots of details.

Eventually, once I'd repaired my ship and got fuel I finally did the whole taking off thing and it's incredible. Got the hang of that in a few minutes, then went into space while looking down at the planet I'm leaving behind. Possibly the most amazing gaming experience I've had. The vastness of the game really pops in VR.

To finish, if you liked NMS before then you should love it. Anyone with PSVR should try this. But if you hate NMS then it's maybe not for you. I can't wait to play some more.

Re: Dying Light 2 Is in Development for Both PS4 and PS5, Techland Confirms

I don't really understand the need for two separate versions of the game. PS4 games will work on PS5 just fine. Just seems a little pointless. I'm certainly not paying for a slightly better version of games on PS5 if I already own the PS4 version.

I'd expect Pro like enhancements to PS4 games running on a PS5 anyways. For example, won't an SSD in the PS5 mean that PS4 games will load faster on it?

I clicked on this thinking it was the remake but that was my own error not the review. It's very clear. I also think retro reviews are awesome. Nice work @JamieO

@Stocksy Just my opinion but I don't think retro games should be graded by today's standards. The original Metal Gear Solid would be slaughtered if compared to modern games and that's a stone cold classic. It's a product of it's time, just like CTR.

Re: E3 2019: Shenmue III Battles on Boats, Saves Children in Trailer

@stuzster Oh I didn't mean that the Kickstarter entitles to a pass. Just that I hope the game sells well. As in, I worry how many copies of the game will actually sell after X amount have already got the game via the Kickstarter (myself included) And the relatively small fan base. So I'm in agreement with your concerns.

I can see I didn't make that very clear at all so thanks for the query. I just want Yu Suzuki to complete his story so I hope enough copies of the game sell for a Shenmue 4 to be possible.

Re: E3 2019: Final Fantasy VII Remake Is Being Developed as a PS4 and PS5 Title

If PS4 games work on a PS5 I won't be paying more to upgrade the graphics for a game I'll have already played by then. Especially if these upgrades are marginal and purely cosmetic. The PS4 Pro does this at no extra cost.

(Edit: I'm talking about the Pro patch updates for games, not the console as apparently that's not clear enough already...)

Honestly, I'm done with re-buying the same games every generation. If I can play my PS4 version of FF7 Remake on my PS5 why pay again for some silly upgrades. Just make the game upscale on PS5 with a free patch and give people an incentive to go out and buy a PS5.
