EA might not have a killer E3 lineup this year, but it did have Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to show off. The first game on its schedule of EA Play livestreams, the publisher has finally lifted the lid on Respawn Entertainment's sci-fi action adventure with the first gameplay footage. Check it out above.
It looks like a mix of all the modern action game tropes; you've got your Uncharted-style storytelling and platforming, and the combat looks more than a little inspired by the likes of God of War. We're not complaining, though -- it's looking like a really solid title. The Force abilities look fun, and the combat seems to be very fast and hectic. We also spotted skill points, which means we're looking at unlocking new abilities in skill trees. We're fairly impressed with what we've seen so far.
What do you think of the first gameplay from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order? Whip your lightsabers out in the comments below.

Wow it look amazing especially graphic. gameplay look similar to Uncharted, TLOU, God of War on this game
I personally thought that demo made it look quite average. Maybe it plays better than it looks, but after playing something like Sekiro, the combat here looks a little unfulfilling. Animations also seemed a bit off - definitely not up there with Uncharted or God of War. Will have to wait and see.
I came away thinking it looked solid without being blown away. I think the quality of the story is going to be vital. Definitely interested though, not much else out this winter(yet) for me.
I thought it looked pretty decent, but artistically it's quite bland in my opinion.
This was only reason I turned on ea play and I just thought it looks okay nothing more nothing less
@get2sammyb how come does it is bland ?
My interest has dropped massively after that demo. The combat, animation and general style looked dated. Obviously I’ll wait to see what it looks like in November, but for me, that was quite disappointing.
Hmmm. Still looks good, but not as amazing as I was hoping
looks great.graphics and gameplay.and the story looks on point so far.im not a huge star wars fan.but this game looks amazing.word up son
Looks good, nothing mind blowing though. Just a standard 3rd person action game with a coat of jedi paint on it. That being said I have it preordered and am looking forward to it, just not expecting the 2nd coming. Hope we see more at the MS conference.
I didn't hear a Wilhelm scream. Pre-order cancelled.
Also forgot to add the Witcher 3 combat too with the Sword play and with the 'force' replacing Signs... Only time I got real God of War vibes was with the Sabre throw - although it looked like it came straight back rather than needing to be recalled.
Difficult to say it had Uncharted vibes from a Story perspective - just from the climbing bits and of course Titanfall for the advanced movement...
The combat looked fine, just wished they'd add some fun and energy into it. Felt like watching solo and dozed off a few times.
Geez... Greg was intense to put it nicely.
Seems quite promising from the demo; but will see what is actually like once the completed code has been issued out and a few credible sources have reviewed it. As a Star Wars fan I’m still feeling positive
It looks.. okay? It seems good but it’s not uncharted 4 / god of war / horizon zd levels. I only watch about 5 minutes of it before I'm bored.
@TheLastOfUs2 Uncharted / tlou / gow has different gameplay though, it can’t be like the three of them. And uncharted 4 / horizon zd has way better graphics than this.
Can see hints of Uncharted & Dead Space in there while not being as interesting as either (I'm not a big Star Wars fan btw) but a single player story driven game published by EA, definitely one that I'll keep an eye on
Seems quite promising actually, maybe were just that starved of decent star wars game??
It's Titanfall with Star Wars characters. It looks alright, but if you took out the light saber and added a Titan, it would've been Titanfall 2. So I hope there's more to it. Are we going to space? Will there be busy cities you can visit?
I thought it looked great. I am just hoping his move set opens up with more diverse enemies and once you get into the skillsets more. Promising though.
@wiiware well it using unreal engine 4 like Days Gone.. Days Gone graphic look amazing
Uncharted in space?
Really? After all this time and hype when you reveal THE new Star Wars game, it has :
Call me disappointed, this looks to be at the same level as a "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" at best, which means bland, unoriginal but good enough for a passable adventure time... sorry, that's not good enough for the first big Star Wars single player story driven game in a decade...
@Jake3103 completely agree, also should a lightsaber not be cutting through storm troopers rather than bouncing off them like a baseball bat. The throwing mechanic will be wasted on me after GoW if it boomerangs back to me instead of us being given the ability to summon it. I’ll reserve judgement til I play it but it isn’t exactly looking like it is going to be anything special.
Looks really good in my opinion but then again I still play jedi power battles on psone 😂
Looked okay, but sadly, more underwhelming than not. By the book location, uninspired combat and uninspired setting. And sadly, judging from this, the character seems a boring, uninspired high school jock.
Don't get me wrong, I want to like this game. I love Star Wars and I think Titanfall 2 is one of the best games of this gen, so I'm going to give Respawn the benefit of the doubt for now, but nothing I saw so far inspires much confidence.
And what the hell was wrong with this cringe-inducing, forced over the top host?! The snow he's been playing in sure hasn't been from Hoth, if you get my drift...
'Cough' Anthem launch trailer 'cough'
looked a bit derivative to me, it didn't exactly wow me. i'm sure they want to keep most of it under wraps, but i think they could have showed off environments that are a bit more interesting than this. the story (and seeing as how that was developed in collaboration with lucasfilm which doesn't inspire confidence) and how lengthy the campaign is might be make or break.
I would imagine as well that this is a demo of an earlier level in the game as it seemed quite tame in terms of enemy frequency and difficulty. Its hard to show that much of a story based game without spoilers abd obviously the game isnt finished but for me it looks good so far. And the settings of the films were always quite bland so obviously they need to be the same or similar in the games.
@TheLastOfUs2 Nice Yoda impersonation! 😂
@TheLastOfUs2 It's not only about the engine though, but the animations and quality of texture, the starwars game looks good but graphically I think uncharted 4 and horizon zd is better.
Well the game is still in alpha, maybe it get better in the final game
7 out of 10 vibes.
Oh... Hm... Yeah, this is a game I'll get on sale. Maybe?...
I don't really even like Star Wars that much anymore to be honest.
@wiiware yeah guess so but we will see
@JohnnyShoulder huh ? what you talking about ?
I'm not really sure yet, it certainly looks like they are trying to emulate Sony's single player games, I did like how they are trying to make combat more meaningful then Star Wars games typically get but its certainly not up to God of Wars level. I'm still interested and want to see more but you have Dsath Stranding around then which looks fresh and unique whilst this, almost like Days Gone with open worlds, this has cobbled together ideas from arguably better games. We'll see it may well be amazing and I hope it is great
It looks alright, not amazing or anything
Wow what's with all the game snobs? Saying things like yawn not impressed. Bored after 5 minutes. Maybe you should lower your dose of adderall. I'm not saying it looks like the best thing ever but it looks like a very good and solid game. The game snobbery on display makes certain commenters on this site seem like caricatures.
Reminds me of that old 90s Star Wars game, the one where force grab was so OP I played as a pacifist by disarming all the troopers.
Well, at least now we know there’s a video game in there. The compilation of cut scenes released the first time didn’t hint one way or another.
Playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider at the moment and this game reminds me of that(and I'm enjoying the TR game) so I like the look of this. I am a bit shocked because it's a EA game then Love the Star Wars music in the background and Star Wars sounds to
Decent... Nothing more. The worst this g about this game is not having lightsaber dismemberment, bodies cut in two , environment interaction like Sparks, deformation, etc. Isn't that the best of using a lightsaber??
I fear Respawn have played it safe here. I like what I see but based on this footage it's not day one although it is only alpha gameplay so there's still time
Absolutely loved that. Exactly my sort of game.
@get2sammyb I felt the same way. Bland is the term I think fits best. But I can't pinpoint why I feel that way about it 🤷🏾♂️
Biggest problem for me is that the environment didn't seem all that exciting. It's good enough, but the Metroid game design of constant back tracking will make an average level design tiresome after time.
@TheLastOfUs2 See comment #6.
Seen the trailer, not totally sold on it yet. Looks good visually but the gameplay looks like it could get boring real quick.
Wow pretty underwhelming at best. First opportunity to wow the crowd and show what you have been working on and release someone playing through the game :/. Overall disappointed by the AI but hopefully respawn have more to show.
Seems decent, I like the slow mechanic. Graphics are OK. Gameplay looks good. I don't like how he runs though. Also the actor from Shameless as a Jedi? I'll have to get used to that. Overall though I'm looking forward to it.
@Olmaz I agree with you on most of the points you made, but I'm just guessing that the AI was dumb and attacked like that was because they probably had the difficulty way down for the demo. At least that's what I'm hoping lol because if not this looks way too easy.
@optic_efun11 I'm going to have to crush your hopes, during the post-demo press conference, the developpers stated again and again that the one playing the demo was a "skilled person"... yep, if that is the level of difficulty for a "skilled" player, I really don't want to see the easy mode (and I play on easy for most of adventure games).
If anyone wants more info the game is Gameinformers game of the month and there a couple of vids which go into a bit more detail on the game.
