Re: Resident Evil 3 - Competent Remake Feels Like a Misfire

Cassetticons

Replayed RE3 just last month on a whim and actually made a game guessing what would be chopped. Shame to hear that basically the latter half of the original has been completely cut (Or heavily changed?)

Question though, as someone who didn't like Mr. X in RE2make because of how he constantly interrupted puzzles, is there anything like that here?

Re: Naughty Dog Underfire for Intense Crunch Culture Once More

Cassetticons

People need to stop defending companies because they like the end product. Naughty Dog seems to need workaholics to create games and that's just not acceptable. Animation wise we've been racing to the bottom for a while now and it's putting pressure of developers and their lives to make it so, because companies now seem to be able to go under after one delay or slow sale due to the costs involved. Not even sure if it's possible to dial it back at this point.

Re: CD Projekt Red Set to Compensate The Witcher Author Following Legal Dispute

Cassetticons

Yeah, this is a good all round job. I know people are saying that he doesn't deserve it because he's a bit of a git, but let's be honest - if the company was EA or Activision we'd all be thumping our fists on the table.

This carte-blanc contract was signed with 2004-ish CD Projekt, who were a super small company who released a eurojanky game called The Witcher with it, who could have seen they would become what they have? With money from cameos in other games flowing in? If I was the author you'd bet I'd want to get the contract changed.

Re: Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition - Still One of the Very Best Tales Games

@MightyDemon82 Zestiria and Berseria feature very different combat styles compared to the main series. Zestiria is also very hit and miss, with lots of weird systems, niggles, and experiments that people either love and hate.

It feels more like a prototype to Berseria, which is a pretty good game in the series. Just be aware that they're both very different from the rest of the series.

Re: Cliff Bleszinski Says He'll Never Make Another Game

Probably gets a lot of gunk thrown his way but, like, he's a lightning rod for this stuff. Lots of his opinions were always pretty brazen and inflammatory, and he used to love to present himself as that sort of rebel game dev with the HOT OPINIONS THAT DIDN'T CARE WHAT /YOOOOOU/ THINK. I don't have that much sympathy for people like that?

I've always considered him the American Itagaki, in that way.

"the six or seven hour story"
Wait, is this seriously how long this game is? Wow, I was hoping it would be longer...
Hopefully Frogware's The Sinking City eventually fills my love of Lovecraft then.

Re: PlayStation Classic Full Games Lineup Revealed

Cassetticons

Cancelled my pre-order since the line-up isn't super appealing too me. Was hoping for a few more hidden gems (Puzzle Fighter is a great inclusion) . Still wish they have the dualshock so we could have a few really classics likie Ape Escape and the like, but if the lineup looks good to you and you don't have a PS3 or PSP/Vita anymore then it should be an okay deal.

Re: Telltale Games Effectively Shuttered After Enormous Layoffs

Cassetticons

@ShogunRok Looking at the supposed leaks from cut staff. It's shocking that only Minecraft and the first season of TWD were actually profitable. Borderlands I can understand, but Batman?! Maybe that says more about the Telltale style gameplay than we thought.

Sad to see people lose job, hopefully they all land on their feet.

Re: Round Up: Shadow of the Tomb Raider PS4 Reviews Can't Make Up Their Mind

Cassetticons

@get2sammyb @ShogunRok Yeah, so it seems my issues with the first 2--that they're just treading water with this reboot, is still valid. It's a shame, because the first game with its cult survival story really grabbed me.

Then again, I'm so deep in DQ11 that I won't escape for a while. I'll def pick this up in the inevitable New Year £10 sale.
