@nhSnork If you count the GBC games I guess? They used the same media though. I'm not an expert on GBC, but my friend mentioned that the only thing that stops them from working on an old pocket or phat boy is a chip, but I could be wrong.

@DrClayman The first instance was the Mega Drive with an add-on to let you play Master System games. But Sony is the first one to hard bake it into their system, so people have linked the two together.

@get2sammyb Yeah haha, probably swearing under his breath after that soundbite. See, I can partly see where he's coming from. I collect Saturn games (of all things) and most of them have aged like rancid wine, but the matter of fact is Sony's classics and PS Now solutions haven't been great this gen, and with parts getting rarer there's a possibility soonish that people might not be able to play these games they own.

People like having everything in one nice, easy place and don't like feeling nickle and dimed . Even if they don't use it, it's a helpful feature. Imagine if blu ray players didn't accept DVDs for example?

I've never in my life played Wipeout, but I can't say I'm not tempted to pick it up. Will see what the prices are like when it launches.

I still think the lack of drive the Vita got was due to not getting something like GTA like the PSP did way back when.

Still I have tons of amazing RPGs on it, along with PS1 classics for when I travel for work. It's a great system to have in that regards.

There's a work around to matchmaking getting the connection lost but it's a little slow to work. Set the parameters when you search to "Any" in every option and just wait. It will first say that no matches were found, but within 3~ minutes you'll get a match that will be connection perfect.

It's not a fantastic work around, but it works. I got my Platinum last night.

That's a really naff list, especially since most of these are reworked MvC3 characters. Also 2 Ghost and Goblins in a list of 14 Capcom characters? Hoping it's just pre-E3 fakes.

I get the feeling SE is in the same position that Capcom was in a few years back, where they got a bunch of devs to experiment with new franchises but when they didn't make the cash they needed, pulled back and sold everything off for a quick profit.

How much is FFXV, KH3, and the FF7 Remake costing them? I've always seen Square as a bit of a money pit when it comes to its key franchises and can see this as them thinking Hitman won't make the money in the long term, so it's better for a short term cash injection by selling them.

Very cool idea if they apply it to other characters and costumes.

I'm honestly amazed Square as a company operates the way it does. It announces games years before it actually starts full production, the output is tiny for the team size, implying it doesn't scale well, and it spends way too much time adding new features to unfinished games it released a year before.

It's a brand with a huge fanbase, sure. But I feel development at Square has the same mindset it did in 1997.

No confirmation that as we level up our arms will slowly get covered up with tattoos of glorious eagles and the stars and stripes then?

It's a great game, my only complaint would be that it's, possibly, region locked on online? My US friends can never connect to my matches, unlike our MvC3 bouts. MKX did something similar I think?

Picked up Star Ocean, waiting for a price drop on RiME myself, but Edge gave it a prety good review.

It's a shame it's not quite as good as the rest. Koei have done wonders mixing up their formula recently (Toukiden 2 being a top class sequel IMO). I'll still buy it though, love to support these folks.

DD at a good framerate? I'd buy that on a sale. Probably won't have the Berserk armour sets though...

Huh, I wonder how different the grotesque version is? Is the gore the same as the other versions, or is it toned down but less so than the Japanese standard versions?

How popular are FPS horror games in Japan? Things like Outlast and the like always struck me as banking on US tastes.

@Quintumply Big fan of Pirate's Curse myself. It feels like the most complete package with all the good stuff I like about the series mixed just right.

I'm more surprised about CoD because, outside of the 2nd hand market at CEX you never see those games on sale. I think the only company who doesn't reduce prices is Nintendo these days outside the Select range.

TBF right now this is good for consumers, bad for companies. I think it all depends on which side you fall in the grand scheme.

After recently playing Blazblue CF with its robust single player but dead online, I honestly wonder if it's possible to get a best of both worlds these days in fightan games.

The disc version is around £27 if you look around. I'm amazed how fast some games have dropped in price over the last few months.

I always liked Bartz's cheerful wacky nature myself.

FFXV as an entire product is a strange beast. It feels welded together at parts where the old Versus material was stripped and replaced, parts feel like they were only just thought of and developed half a year ago but 78 hours and a Platinum later and I'm going "Well, yeah it was alright I guess".
It's a foundation for a better FF game, I just hope XVI uses it as a base and doesn't just go for something completely different gameplay wise.

@ShogunRok Have they gotten rid of Super Saiyan NPC bosses being able to constantly spam their special moves? One of the worse parts of the 1st game was Goku and Gohan spamming their best attacks on higher level quests. Are rewards still random?
