Microsoft can get all the head start they want, but in reality 99% of the mass market will wait as they usually do for PlayStation. Microsoft are making their own bed right now by jumping to full 3rd party support, casual gamers will wait for their favourite game to release on PlayStation because they now expect that they can play any game they desire on the system. The only people that will champion a new Xbox now are the diehard Xbox fans that want to pay for Gamepass and nothing more.
I love god of war, one of the main series that kept me on PlayStation back in the day, but I don’t think I would play remasters of the first one again. Although it was a great game, after playing it not too long ago, it’s really showing its age now and I definitely think it would have benefited from a full on Remake! It would have everything in place to just get a graphical overhaul, the DLC for Ragnarok gave a taste how it would look and I’d be all over that. Would definitely replay 2 however. I think that’s my favourite game in the whole series.
I honestly believe it will be DOA. I don’t like seeing developers fail, but it’s more than apparent that most Sony fans want to see single player titles, me included, it is what got Sony to where they are.
I would hope that Sony would become a little more transparent with upcoming releases. I don’t mind knowing a good year ahead about a games launch, having updates and previews really helps build up anticipation!
Only thing I would have liked to see is the AI adjusted to have a better chance of survival for the Mission mode! It was so much more enjoyable doing this with a real teammate on Sigma 2, but now the Master Ninja Missions are a bit of a pain as it feels like having to babysit the AI as well as defeating the enemies. Don’t need the AI to be god mode or anything, just a bit more competent! 😅
Devil may cry 1 & 2 would be fantastic as remakes, implementing the combat mechanics that feature from 3 and onwards would be very much appreciated!! Oh man, I hope this comes to fruition, I have played Devil May Cry 1 literally hundreds of times all the way through, just an awesome, awesome game!!
We all know basically everything will come out, so what I would be far more interested in Seeing would be a proper road map from Microsoft with all the dates that they hope to release their games on PlayStation. I do hate a drip feed approach to this kind of info! 😂
I have never really liked Halo, I just didn’t like the whole story for one and I am not really the biggest FPS fan really. Gears of War however? Yep, I’d be down to play that, that’s for sure! But when Halo is finally announced, that is going to be the biggest signal that it probably doesn’t make much sense in buying Xboxes moving forward as PlayStation will be the best place to play.
Also, as far as Gamepass goes, I would easily see it on PlayStation, but not in the iteration that we see now. It would be more of a Microsoft only Gamepass, similar to EA and Ubisoft and just have all the games that are owned by Microsoft, hell they have enough games under their umbrella to have a pretty bolstered line up.
This is actually very good news and probably why there has been a bit of a step back from live service games in the last while. I think Herman really needed to answer to someone, and this will hopefully reel him in a bit.
If the Xbox One/Ps4 generation was the one that Xbox couldn’t afford to lose, the PS5/Series X generation has shown that it has only gotten worse. Publishers don’t want to invest funds in bringing games to Xbox simply because they don’t make the money they do on PlayStation and the more people that buy into Sonys ecosystem, it really makes a new Xbox a redundant exercise. Sure, it will sell to the hardcore fans, but everyone that bought PS4 and now PS5 won’t have any need to go off these systems since Microsoft plans to bring so many of their games to PlayStation. It just puts the perception to people that PlayStation will have all the games and most people would not see the point in getting another Xbox. It’s all that people say on other forums too, they feel no need to buy another Xbox console when they can play everything on PlayStation.
With the amount of games series that EA have simply killed off and the internal studios that they close down, I can’t say I’m too fussed to read of their woes. I haven’t bought a new EA game since Dead Space Remake, and I would have happily bought more from that series. Really miss Command and Conquer aswell (the ones from the Xbox 360 days).
Jim Ryan started Sonys trajectory off a few years ago and now it’s time to get rid of the helmsman in charge of this disaster now, Herman Hulst. Sony can’t soak up losses like this right now and considering the huge amount of money that is being wasted chasing the live service dream, all that money could easily have been spent on getting 2 AAA single player games to market, and that it why I buy PlayStation Consoles. Sony are just lucky that Xbox is pretty much useless right now and aren’t really offering up anything that would take people away, because the direction Sony is going right now, I can’t see myself buying anything from their studios for a very VERY long time (no less because they are hardly making anything after this ***** show!)
BluePoint should have been making a Bloodborne remake, it would have printed money, and although some people aren’t interested, Bend should have either been making Days Gone 2 or even the rumored Uncharted 5. The latter is one of Sonys biggest and most successful franchises and would definitely have been a hellova lot more desirable than some of these live service offerings that were being worked on. I mean, a God of War live service? Good lord. I would think Cory Barlog must have been sick in his mouth when he heard Sony was going to mess around with this.. Fairgame$ is DOA aswell.. The sooner Sony stops messing about and gets back to the story titles that made them where they are today, the better. However, there will still be be a few more gaming casualties on the way before they see what a mess they are in. Thank god for Capcom, that’s all I can bloody say..
It’s a pity that the console was deemed a failure. I enjoyed what I played on it and still use it back and fore to this day. Definitely agree with the back touchpad being unnecessary, it had a touch screen so this should have been enough. It was a sad day seeing the Vita being used as a side mirror for an F1 game. Just showed Sony didn’t know what to do with it…
Apart from an announcement of Forza Horizon 4 (never going to happen unfortunately), I have zero interest in seeing any Microsoft owned IPs on PlayStation, so I wouldn’t be too fussed about anything Xbox related on a state of play. I’d be happy to see more on Death Stranding 2, but I think a star of the show would be a new Resident Evil or remake from Capcom!!
I imagine the Switch 2 will sell at a gargantuan pace as long as Nintendo can meet demand, but that is probably why Nintendo have held off announcing the system as they get ready to have as many consoles ready for launch. Everyone I know is buying a system as soon as they are able to, and I can imagine some pretty special games at launch that will drive sales even further!
The next release by Naughty Dog is going to be their most important in their history. If it sells fantastically well and garners huge critical acclaim, the studio will definitely be regarded as one of Sonys best once again. However, if things go awry, this will definitely be a defining moment for Naughty Dog for altogether different reasons. The big budget costs of games is definitely heading in the direction of unsustainable and with Sonys finances nowhere near competitors, they really can’t afford to have failures. Naughty Dog have sunk a probable huge sum of money into the Factions 2 title with zero return and now with Intergalactic costing a probable huge sum, it will really be interesting to see how things progress after its launch (whenever that may be). I can see Sony Japan taking far more control of their studios going forward if things go wrong, as some of them have a very large element of control as to what they pursue. If the studios end up costing Sony more than they gain, then sustainability will become a far larger matter to address and given that the games sector is a big part of Sonys earnings, they can’t afford to run risks.
It’s a month for me that I own 2 out of the 3 games, but I don’t think it’s a bad month. I was extremely vocal about the failure of Suicide Squad after playing the beta, but playing the game with friends a few weeks ago has actually been a lot more fun than I thought. So much so, I am grinding the endgame for weapons just for the sheer hell of it and it’s pretty addictive. I went for the platinum first and foremost and that wasn’t even a terrible grind like a lot of people complained. All in all, I hope a lot more people try it as I definitely will jump in on random games to play with folk if the chance arises.
I played it at launch on PlayStation 4 and after I got the Platinum on an older account, I redid the game on my current account, simply because I loved it so much! It was buggy, but everyone had the same bugs to deal with, so it always felt even when I played with friends. We even started to play it every Friday night as a wind down game after a hard week! Loved those sessions so much, always a huge laugh with a full lobby of friends. I wasn’t there at the end, but I will still miss the game loads!!
In all honesty I am not interested in getting GTA6, although all my gaming buddies are picking it up when it launches. I just never really got into the games at all, excluding the 4th one which I did like. Everything before and after that didn’t really interest me. Very happy for everyone that is excited for the launch as this game is going to be a great jumpstart for the industry I’m sure!
Hot pursuit Remastered is a really good game from back in the day, so that’s strong. I bought Suicide Squad during the last sale and apart from a few cutscenes, I have enjoyed the game way more than I expected. Sure, it’s not in the same league as the Arkham titles, but it’s not the same kind of game at all, so I can live with that.
I would like to have seen a remake of Dead Space 3 before a 4th game, since that wasn’t took good back on PS3! However, I would have been happy to see the guys who created the first games give the series another bash in time. I actually think Glen Schofield did a really good job on The Callisto Protocol and I enjoyed it loads more than I thought I would! 😄
Every months outgoings always feel like a bigger loss that the incoming titles. The service really needs to have a far better consistency of good games. A few years ago, I genuinely felt that PlayStation Plus was a match for Gamepass, I even preferred the games available to the service, but now? Not so good.
Apart from the Forza Horizon games (especially 4) and Sea of Thieves, I haven’t really played games on the Xbox that I would desperately want to play if they were multiplatform. I game specifically on PlayStation and have done for years purely because all the first party games have appealed to me way more than what Microsoft does. That hasn’t changed even with all the acquisitions. It’s better for everyone that many games that they thought would be held off PlayStation will still be available and since Microsoft seems more and more likely to be a 3rd party developer in the future, I really can’t see myself buying too many of their games moving forward anyways.
I have already said in other posts, I picked this up on the sale and although I skipped most of the cutscenes, the game itself as a looter shooter was not horrific. For sure it is nowhere near the levels of Arkham games, but they are not the same kind of games at all and I enjoyed it for what it was. I fully expect that if Rocksteady get another chance to make a game, it will be a follow up to Arkham Knight or something like that and it really needs to happen or this would have been a really bad way to end as a developer.
I would love to see Clover giving a chance to create Devil May Cry 6! I would definitely feel relief if that happened since Hideaki Itsuno is no longer at Capcom! 😀
With the recent sales, I picked up Suicide Squad and played that with friends. Even though the story has questionable pathways, I have enjoyed the game a lot more than I expected. It’s not the same game as the arkhams, so going into it with that in mind, it’s actually a pretty good looter shooter. I am also playing Alan Wake and the Horizon remaster, so all in all I have a good mix on the go!!
@nomither6 like I said, definitely not the worst game I have played, but I didn’t for one second think that it was even close to being on par with the Arkham games. I just think that for what it is, it’s not a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination. Storyline choices were well off, but I have had my moneys worth on my way to the platinum so far and that is definitely good.
I get the negativity that this game garnered big time and I do agree with what has been said to a point. I recently picked this up on sale and I have been playing it steadily on the way to getting the platinum and I have really enjoyed the gameplay. The story was sucky and didn’t do justice to any of the characters at all, but the endgame has been pretty good. There was a good game trying to get out and for the most part, it has worked out for me. I haven’t played this in coop at all, doing everything myself and I haven’t regretted playing this. The new season will definitely keep me on the game for a while and it’s most welcome as I am grinding to level 50. Definitely not the worst game I have played, that’s for sure!
I remember reading at the time that one of the biggest factors that managed to prise so many developers from staple relationships with Nintendo was the fact that CD Rom offered such a massive jump in storage, allowing the developers the opportunity to realise their dreams for a title without cartridge constraints. But the Whiskey was a good addition to the story! 🥴
I would really like to see AstroBot win the game of the year award. Sure, the Elden Ring DLC was awesome, but the game had its recognition and deservedly so last year, so it would be fair for another game to get a chance at this years award. I think the idea of a DLC winning Game of the Year is crazy though.. When The Last of Us Part 2 won the award a few years ago, by this years thinking, the game could have had a second bite at the award when the Grounded DLC was released, and that is just plain ridiculous thinking. What next, NG+ taking the award? 😅
Although I love the series, I will probably pass on this. Going by what has happened to previous outings, delisting them and making them unplayable isn’t really how I want to play my games.
Every week I write the same thing right now. Sea of Thieves. It’s taking up nearly all my game time right now. I try to mix in the odd title, at the moment that is Alan Wake 2, which is fantastic. I can safely say Sea of Thieves will take me months to 100%.
I am a massive fan of Capcom, easily my must favourite developer, but I didn’t really hit it off with this game at all. Although a brilliant looking game, I couldn’t help feel that I would have far preferred an Okami Sequel as opposed to the strategy title that we got here as the look of the game really reminded me of the title from Clover Studios. I definitely would have loved to have seen a physical edition aswell, even a collectors edition of some sort, Japan usually releases pretty cool editions of games on the Capcom eStore, but alas..
As long as they leave Capcom alone, I genuinely don’t care about anyone else that they would acquire. Ubisoft are damaged to all hell now, they would take extreme work to get back on their feet, so if that was the next company Microsoft went for, no worries. Besides, it is clear as day that Microsoft are transitioning to 3rd party, so for the mainstream gamer, there will be little effect to what they play as everything will be on PlayStation regardless.
I actually think this is cool as hell! I guess it’s an ‘each to their own’ point of view, but I definitely want that themed Cammy Ghost as she is my main in street fighter! 😂😅
When I see PlayStation adverts, I would actually love to see some actual gameplay footage of titles to look forward to as opposed to people running around the streets going crazy. Nowhere near as good as the adverts from days gone by..
If ever there was a game that could do with a delay, this is it. The game ran pretty poorly for a title that really isn’t too far off its release date, so rather than have a situation like Dragons Dogma 2, Capcom should hold back a few months and at least get the Series X and PS5 versions running a lot better than the beta showed!
Happy to hear this. Additionally, it would be great if Sony shows information about games they are going to release moving forward. I’d like to know about a games existence a year or so in advance, followed by previews and footage as the launch window approaches. The build up to the original PS4 God of War games was awesome. By the time the game was released I was super super excited. That’s how I want to feel about Sonys first party games moving forward!!
What needs to be done is perhaps ask fans what they want to see in a live service game. I personally haven’t got too much interest in these types of games, but if I was to be part of the target audience, character design would be paramount. I would also think something with an amazing storyline that could be built upon would be good too, but it would have to be meaningful and add to the content. I always associate Sony with awesome storytelling, so with keeping with this, that may help them in building upon their live service dreams. If a lot more were shared with fans instead of keeping everything at Sony secret then public opinions could be garnered before releasing huge disasters. Also, I honestly cannot think that The last of Us factions game was a worse title than concord and that never got to see the light of day.
This is just the weirdest generation for sure. I remember when I came from PS3 and saw Destiny for the first time on the PS4, I was blown away! When God of War made it to PS4, again I was amazed at the quality. I just haven’t seen a game on PS5 that couldn’t have been done on the PS4 yet. Granted, it’s great to see a console get a game running at 60fps and 4K, but the actual look of the games aren’t really anything more than what has been seen for the last 10 years or so. If a game came out on the PS5 Pro that runs at 30fps because it is such a graphical monster, that would actually be good (and probably GTA6), but right now there isn’t really a reason for myself personally to want to pay out £800 ( since I would also need a disc drive) to have a console that runs PS4 or PS5 games at their highest quality, since they are just clearer looking versions of PS4 games essentially..
This should have been what we got instead of the base PlayStation 5 but at a far more reasonable price because I definitely feel that the PS5 came out way too soon to retail. With how long the PS4 has been supported and the fact that hardly anything released over the last few years looks anything better than what the PS4 was able to do, there easily could have been at least 3 more years before the PS5 was released. Learned my lesson though, I won’t buy a new console now until the PS6 Pro.. maybe that will allow me to play PS5 games at 4K 60fps..

Re: Special Edition Helldivers 2 DualSense PS5 Controller Is Official, Pre-Orders Open Soon
After GAME messed up my Astro bot pad order, I will not feel aggrieved at buying this pad. And I’ll definitely buy it from PlayStation Direct.
Re: Suicide Squad Season 4 Will Be Its Last, Offline Mode Coming Tomorrow
@nomither6 like I said, definitely not the worst game I have played, but I didn’t for one second think that it was even close to being on par with the Arkham games. I just think that for what it is, it’s not a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination. Storyline choices were well off, but I have had my moneys worth on my way to the platinum so far and that is definitely good.
Re: Suicide Squad Season 4 Will Be Its Last, Offline Mode Coming Tomorrow
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Was Made for PlayStation Thanks to Sony Music and Booze
I remember reading at the time that one of the biggest factors that managed to prise so many developers from staple relationships with Nintendo was the fact that CD Rom offered such a massive jump in storage, allowing the developers the opportunity to realise their dreams for a title without cartridge constraints. But the Whiskey was a good addition to the story! 🥴
Re: Horizon Rip-Off Light of Motiram Will Actually Come to PS5
These guys should have called their game “Dawn : Horizon Zero” and been done with it! It certainly couldn’t look anymore like Guerillas game! 😂
Re: Astro Bot Blasts Past Elden Ring, Currently 2024's Highest-Rated Release
I would really like to see AstroBot win the game of the year award. Sure, the Elden Ring DLC was awesome, but the game had its recognition and deservedly so last year, so it would be fair for another game to get a chance at this years award. I think the idea of a DLC winning Game of the Year is crazy though.. When The Last of Us Part 2 won the award a few years ago, by this years thinking, the game could have had a second bite at the award when the Grounded DLC was released, and that is just plain ridiculous thinking. What next, NG+ taking the award? 😅
Re: Rumour: Forza Horizon 5 Is Ready to Roll on PS5, But Release Has Been Delayed
@themightyant Cheers for the info!
Re: Rumour: Forza Horizon 5 Is Ready to Roll on PS5, But Release Has Been Delayed
Although I love the series, I will probably pass on this. Going by what has happened to previous outings, delisting them and making them unplayable isn’t really how I want to play my games.
Re: Capcom's PS Plus Premium Games Available Now without Subscription
I would have loved to have seen “and includes trophy support” in this statement, would have made it perfect! 😄
Re: Test Your PlayStation General Knowledge - Issue 30
7/10. Probably best quiz ive had for a bit! 😂 The 3 I got wrong, I just didn’t have a scoobie what the answers were!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 556
Every week I write the same thing right now. Sea of Thieves. It’s taking up nearly all my game time right now. I try to mix in the odd title, at the moment that is Alan Wake 2, which is fantastic. I can safely say Sea of Thieves will take me months to 100%.
Re: Capcom Strategy Game Kunitsu-Gami Fails to Meet Sales Targets
I am a massive fan of Capcom, easily my must favourite developer, but I didn’t really hit it off with this game at all. Although a brilliant looking game, I couldn’t help feel that I would have far preferred an Okami Sequel as opposed to the strategy title that we got here as the look of the game really reminded me of the title from Clover Studios. I definitely would have loved to have seen a physical edition aswell, even a collectors edition of some sort, Japan usually releases pretty cool editions of games on the Capcom eStore, but alas..
Re: Sounds Like Microsoft Isn't Done with Gaming Acquisitions Just Yet
As long as they leave Capcom alone, I genuinely don’t care about anyone else that they would acquire. Ubisoft are damaged to all hell now, they would take extreme work to get back on their feet, so if that was the next company Microsoft went for, no worries. Besides, it is clear as day that Microsoft are transitioning to 3rd party, so for the mainstream gamer, there will be little effect to what they play as everything will be on PlayStation regardless.
Re: Street Fighter 6 Brings Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy to Destiny 2 in Themed Items
I actually think this is cool as hell! I guess it’s an ‘each to their own’ point of view, but I definitely want that themed Cammy Ghost as she is my main in street fighter! 😂😅
Re: Play Has No Limits in Sony's Latest Live-Action PS5 Ad
When I see PlayStation adverts, I would actually love to see some actual gameplay footage of titles to look forward to as opposed to people running around the streets going crazy. Nowhere near as good as the adverts from days gone by..
Re: PS5 Pro Brute Forces Better Performance in Monster Hunter Wilds' Beta
If ever there was a game that could do with a delay, this is it. The game ran pretty poorly for a title that really isn’t too far off its release date, so rather than have a situation like Dragons Dogma 2, Capcom should hold back a few months and at least get the Series X and PS5 versions running a lot better than the beta showed!
Re: Sony Promises It'll Launch Major PS5 Single Player Games Every Year Moving Forwards
Re: Sony Comments on Concord Disaster, Says Game Should Have Been Tested Earlier
Re: PS5 Pro vs PS5: Full Tech Specs Comparison
Re: PS5 Pro was a '5-Year Project', In Development Before PS5's Launch
This should have been what we got instead of the base PlayStation 5 but at a far more reasonable price because I definitely feel that the PS5 came out way too soon to retail. With how long the PS4 has been supported and the fact that hardly anything released over the last few years looks anything better than what the PS4 was able to do, there easily could have been at least 3 more years before the PS5 was released. Learned my lesson though, I won’t buy a new console now until the PS6 Pro.. maybe that will allow me to play PS5 games at 4K 60fps..
