Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics has officially sold over one million copies.
Publisher Capcom recently made the announcement on its socials, thanking fans of the crossover fighting series for their support:
"Thanks to all of you, we have achieved global sales of 1 million copies," reads the translated post. "We look forward to your continued support for this title!"

Fast-paced and stylish, these are tag-team fighters, meaning you enter each bout with a team of characters rather than just one, swapping between them to take advantage of their unique move sets.
Marvel vs. Capcom hasn't received a new entry since the less than stellar MVC: Infinite, which broke the combo of uniformly beloved games. It dropped the ball so hard that many believed the series to be over, only for the retro collection to release last year and bring back the excitement.
It's clear there's still a lot of enthusiasm for MVC. Given Capcom's current run of form, we reckon a well-executed, brand new game would go down a treat.
However, it would have to contend with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a PlayStation-published tag-team fighting game coming in 2026.
The game is in development at Arc System Works, a team responsible for other very well-received titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ, Guilty Gear Strive, and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, to name a few.
Obviously, one huge difference is that Tokon focuses purely on Marvel characters, and doesn't have any crossover content with other properties.
The appeal of Spider-Man and Wolverine fighting with, or against, Ryu and Mega Man is something unique to Marvel vs. Capcom, so there's still room for it in a post-Tokon world. Whether it happens is anyone's guess, though.

Can I have a sequel to mvc infinite, please?
Sony should try and make Marvel X DC happen. I think they have enough gaming pull to do so now.
I wonder how much Capcom Fighting Collection 1 and 2 sold.
Anyway. I bought this collection on day 1 and sadly the online match turn into ghost town after a week. If only Capcom put cross play, the player pool would be bigger / more alive. Oh well, at least the collection has The Punisher which is one of the best beat em up i ever played.
@z0d15g0d Sony is working on Marvel Tokon and promise to support it for 10 years. So i doubt we'll see Marvel vs DC or whatever crossover fighting games from Sony in the next 5-6 years...
@PuppetMaster That depends on how well Tokon does. 5 to 6 years seems about right for them to do a new one in either case.
@z0d15g0d So far Tokon got very positive receptions at EVO and from closed beta. With people craving for a new Marvel fighting game that can satisfy their hunger, i think it's safe to predict that Tokon will sell at least 1-2 million copies in the 1st year. But we'll see...
1 million, lol
I’m really glad that Capcom realise the numbers that this has sold is worthy of recognition, but remember when the Darkstalkers Collection was released on ps3 as a test bed for a new game and Capcom wanted the game to sell 6 million before they would consider a new mainline entry, that certainly was wacky… 😅
Well deserved, congrats to Capcom. This and the other fighting collection have really nailed it. Even though you can’t really find people online to fight against.
i want rival schools remake
A new Marvel vs Capcom would sweep the floor with Tokon.
