Re: Here's the Stellar Lineup You Can Expect at Capcom Showcase Next Week

Bionic-Spencer

I have been playing and collecting Capcom games for many a year and it forms the basis of my Instagram page, so because of Capcoms amazing output, I am always able to add to it! Really looking forward to seeing the Capcom Showcase, although there likely won’t be any surprises, it will be great to see some more in depth coverage of Dragons Dogma 2 and Ghost Trick!

Re: The Next Capcom Showcase Airs Next Week

Bionic-Spencer

I very much doubt DMC6 would get a mention since Hideaki Itsuno is beavering away at Dragons Dogma 2, so I would assume the show will have the final preview of Exoprimal, Resident Evil 4 DLC, a few Street Fighter 6 future DLC Characters and perhaps a mention of Pragmata. For the sake of dream announcements, I would have a meltdown if a new Darkstalkers were shown, Monster Hunter World 2, Code Veronica Remake and anything that slightly resembled a new Bionic Commando!! 😄

Re: Fairgame$ May Be Sony's Most Tone Deaf PS5, PC Title to Date

Bionic-Spencer

It’s the dollar signs, it has to be… that is the only reason that Sony would buy these guys up. When they said they were going to invest heavily in Live Service games, I baulked at that straight away. Sonys first party studios have been built on incredible gaming experiences, but mostly all single player. I think they should just leave Bungie to do the live service things and get on with what has made PlayStation great, massive single player experiences.. I also think that they should have only bought Haven and Firewalk if their new games had been unfathomably successful, but at least this will very quickly show them that this business shift will be a complete waste of time and money. I wonder what Sony of Japan will think about that. The best way this can go is that is hardly anyone plays the game when it arrives and shows Sony that the direction they are heading in is fruitless.

Re: PS Showcase Demonstrated Sony's Efforts to Offer 'Best and Most Varied Catalog of Games', Jim Ryan Claims

Bionic-Spencer

I get the variety of games, but saying that it was showing that PlayStation had the “Best and most variety of games” is the usual misleading statement since most of the games they showed were multiplatform. I would have taken his statement with a lot more credibility if he had just proceeded over a Showcase where they had shown 15 first party AAA games…

Re: Reaction: Sony Flubs First Proper PS5 Presentation in Over 18 Months

Bionic-Spencer

I’ve had time to reflect on this show now and it was pretty much a disaster of planning. What they SHOULD have done was start the show with Spider-Man 2, move on to half an hour of the 3rd Party games, set aside 10 minutes for PSVR2 and the hardware announcements and then had the last 25 odd minutes focusing entirely on 1st party games. My Fanboy-ism would have gone crazy for things like announcing a Ghost of Tsushima sequel, Uncharted 5, Santa Monica’s new IP, Bluepoints new IP, anything remotely featuring Killzone. Sure, show of what Haven was making, but adding a little bit of Gameplay and to not show Factions 2 off was at a PlayStation Showcase is a huge PR mess.. Sony are way too complacent, all their number crunching facts these last 2 days show they don’t care at all right now, so long as PS5 is selling like hot cakes..

Re: Poll: Was This Sony's Best PlayStation Showcase Yet?

Bionic-Spencer

I think Sony made a huge mistake here by not showing more first party games. In fact it should have been massively dominated by their own internal Studios. All the 3rd party games could easily have been kept for State of Plays. Factions should have been shown, Santa Monica’s new game should have been shown, it’s just a huge missed opportunity. Sony had a real chance to give gamers something positive to speak about with Microsoft’s own show a few weeks away. I except that to be a hellova lot better than this.

Re: Alan Wake's PS5 Sequel May Be Much Closer Than You Think

Bionic-Spencer

Alan Wake was one of my favourite games back on the 360 and it was so good to see it get the remaster treatment on PS4/5 for PlayStation fans that missed out on it first time around! I can’t wait to play the second one. Hopefully more light will be shed on its release date at the Sony Showcase this week!!

Re: PlayStation Showcase Finally Announced

Bionic-Spencer

Fantastic!! I know that Sony has been keeping quite with the Acti/Blizz deal rumbling along, but now that is is more than likely that Microsoft will succeed, it’s about time Sony flexed their muscles a bit and showed everyone what’s been going on in the background! Really hope to see what Santa Monica have been working on, a proper look at Spiderman 2, The Last of Us multiplayer and a tonne of announcements that are unannounced up until now. I’m rather excited!!

Re: Capcom's Crazy Win Streak Continues as Publisher Confirms Record-High Profit

Bionic-Spencer

Super happy to read this report about Capcom, they are my number one favourite developer by a mile! So glad that they went back to what made them successful! I am actually really looking forward to Exoprimal. The beta was very good in my opinion and if you were playing with a group of friends, I think it would be a great laugh. On the topic of what’s next, Code Veronica Remake, a new Bionic Commando, Onimusha Reboot, a new Darkstalkers and a Strider sequel would all be very much appreciated!! 😄

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?

Bionic-Spencer

I gave it a personal 8! I enjoyed the DLC and going with a certain big battle, I could see what it was decided that it would skip the PS4! Also, the reason that this was getting so badly review bombed didn’t even impact my thoughts on the game at all. There was more than enough of a choice available that anyone that didn’t agree with the direction didn’t even have to go down the route that had so many up in arms. If was a none event in the end.

Re: Microsoft Goes Scorched Earth Over UK's Activision Buyout Block

Bionic-Spencer

With the recent sales figures of the Xbox consoles in the UK, it seems that people are giving up on them rather than the other way around. No matter what people have said, this deal would have been horrific for gamers in general. No company should have too much control of any industry. The facts are that Sony has taken 30 odd years to get to where they are. Sure, they bought their fair share of talent, but not in the same stratosphere as 69 Billion Dollars. Microsoft want to compete? Invest the money in their own studios instead of buying success at the levels they are trying. It will take them years to make a dent in Sonys dominance, if ever, but they were quick to challenge Sony to make their own competitor to COD and whatnot. Maybe Microsoft should practice what they preach and do the same thing.

Re: Microsoft Dealt Major Blow as UK Blocks Activision Buyout

Bionic-Spencer

I hope that everyone that starts throwing abuse towards Sony remembers that the reason this deal has been blocked is because of the Cloud aspects and nothing to do with Sonys complaints throughout. I really expected this to go through, so this is one hell of a surprise. I guess Microsoft will appeal the decision, so it’s going to be another year of this…

Re: Spider-Man 2 PS5 Dev Asks for Patience As Fans Plead for Footage

Bionic-Spencer

If Sony didn’t have to make themselves look weak thanks to the AB deal over at Microsoft, there would have been a surplus of info and gameplay for Spider-Man 2 by now. I am personally happy to have seen nothing as yet, the game will be good for sure and at times way more info is shared on new games than is needed! Hopefully a summer showcase will show the strength that Sony undoubtedly has waiting in the wings. There is nothing to hold them back now I guess.

Re: The Last of Us PC Is Still Punishing CPUs, Despite 14GB Performance Patch

Bionic-Spencer

Maybe Sony should just concentrate their efforts on making games for PlayStation going forward instead of the far less rewarding PC ports. This sounds like a complete headache that Naughty Dog could have done without, spending so much effort trying to get a game running when there are a couple of other in house titles getting worked on by them that could do with the focus. If Naughty Dog continue down the road that they set out that they plan to release all games Day one on PC and PlayStation, it’s going to be a complete ***** show going by this. A fantastic PlayStation developer seemingly doesn’t translate to a fantastic PC developer. 🙄

Re: Capcom Just Can't Stop Winning as Stock Hits All-Time High

Bionic-Spencer

I am not surprised that they have been on such a growth over the years, they have listened to what the fans wanted and made the correct decisions!! I collect Capcom games as a whole and I am so glad to see how they have handled themselves! It was a great move to begin remaking the Resident Evil games and I really hope that Code Veronica is next on the agenda!! Dino Crisis would also be a very welcome addition!!

Re: Ageing Hardware Like PS4, Nintendo Switch May Be Holding LEGO 2K Drive Back

Bionic-Spencer

With Microsoft wanting all their games to be made to run on the series S, that’s going to hold the X back on everything getting released cross platform too, and that is a really big problem for Microsoft since it’s their current gen consoles. So, if Sony were to finally drop the PS4 support, which lets be honest needs to happen now, the first party games on PS5 would in theory be absolute light years ahead of what will be on Xbox, since both versions of the PS5 that are available are identical from a graphical point. That would then make it really easy for the graphic hungry casuals to see a difference between the 2 systems and the gap between them sales wise would grow even more. I also wondered if 3rd party developers would get sick of having to hold back on their visions of games for the sake of downgrading to get the games running on older generations or inferior current systems and let loose on a console that there were far less limitations on, making games that are available across platforms look far superior on PlayStation aswell. This generation is really sticky right now and it is a real pain. Dead Space looked very good since they didn’t release last gen versions, but games can certainly look way better than that did as well. The PS4 had a helluva run, but the sooner Sony and 3rd party developers drop the support, games will start to look what is expected by now.

Re: Sony Is Acting Unfairly Against Xbox in Japan, US Congress Members Say

Bionic-Spencer

Honestly, even if every single game that is on PlayStation was on the Xbox in Japan, there would be zero changes in the buying practices of the Japanese public. For 3 generations there has been little change in the way the console race has been, Microsoft is last place each time and it’s purely down to the fact that the Japanese would far rather support Japanese consoles rather than American consoles, especially Nintendo.

Re: Talking Point: Is 2024 Too Soon for PS5 Pro?

Bionic-Spencer

Going back to the PlayStation 1 and looking at the differences of games like Tekken 1 and 3 which were huge differences between the 2. I think as the generation progresses, the base PS5 will throw out some absolutely amazing looking games, especially if developers focus entirely on PS5 and move away from last gen. I would love to see what my ps5 is capable of before a Pro is talked about!

Re: 17 New PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Revealed in Another Huge Update

Bionic-Spencer

I literally upgraded to the top tier a week ago and so far I am really happy with the games that are available to me. I suppose in the beginning it was very much lacking, but I am finding a lot of games I haven’t played are on the service. Now, just seeing Ridge Racer Type 4 being mentioned, that is brilliant news. I would definitely be happy with more PS1 games. Trophy support would be fantastic also!!

Re: European Union Likely to Pass Xbox's $69 Billion Buyout of Activision

Bionic-Spencer

I hope that Sony have been working away in the background towards a few of their own acquisitions. It’s not that I think that acquisitions are a good thing at all, but if they don’t do something themselves, there is a chance that they will lose even more to Microsoft and that’s not a good thing at all. I do think Sony will find it a lot easier going for developers, as there is no way that they will be denied if the AB deal goes through. Microsoft themselves probably and hopefully won’t be able to buy anything for quite some time after this. I would like to see Sony going for Square Enix (that’s more than likely almost done anyway), Capcom and perhaps Ubisoft or WB Games. The latter will likely be on the market for a lot less than they were worth before. WB had explored selling up a while back, but I can really see it happening after Rocksteady get done with destroying their legacy and tarnishing WB Games in the process.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About Final Fantasy 16?

Bionic-Spencer

Very much looking forward to the more Action orientation! I played the 7th instalment recently, the PS1 version and although an awesome game, the tit for tat style fighting wasn’t as good as I remember it. Devil May Cry is one of my most favourite games series, so if there was combat like that, Wow!!!

Re: Do You Want Dead Space 2 and 3 Remakes? Time to Tell EA

Bionic-Spencer

Dead space 2 would be an easy one to remake, as the game was pretty awesome as it was and would definitely benefit from a Graphical Upgrade in line with the first one. The 3rd is a different kettle of fish altogether though, it would need a pretty massive overhaul. Getting rid of Coop would actually help and focusing on the loneliness of the planet would make it feel way more horrific. Don’t know what would happen about the story though, it was cool enough, but it might have to go with a lot of reworked areas, kinda like what Capcom are doing with RE4. I still did like the 3rd game in the series, but it was the weakest one. I would imagine how well the 3rd one gets on would be what would potentially lead to a 4th game.

Re: The Response to Rocksteady's Suicide Squad Has Been Abysmal

Bionic-Spencer

When I first heard about this game, I imagined flying around Metropolis as superman and I could definitely live with that , but then it was to be centred around the Suicide Squad. I still felt it would be good as Rocksteady have been quite consistent with the DC games. Then they showed the first cinematic trailer and I still felt hyped about it. Fast forward to the State of Play and I have lost almost all interest in the title. I am not interested in buying a game only for it to die 6 months later and be usless and I fully expect it to falter very quickly. If it ever gets patched to allow it to be played offline then I would buy it, but only to support the last game that featured the unbelievably iconic Kevin Conroy as Batman.

Re: Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 6 the Big Winners from State of Play

Bionic-Spencer

Ever since the PS3 and 360 era, Capcom have slowly and surely been repairing their reputation with an almost constant flow of amazing games. Sure they have missteps here and there, but they really have shown that they are willing to listen to criticism and get stronger by it!! Again, their games were the most interest to me at a Sony State of Play and I can’t wait until the end of March to play Resident Evil 4 and summer for Street Fighter 6!! Also, Cammy is my main so I was super happy to see her official announcement!! Looks like she will be an amazing character and loved her redraw!!

Re: Yes, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Is Definitely a Live Service Game

Bionic-Spencer

I think it’s WB that have pushed this rather than Rocksteady themselves. I actually really liked to look of the game with the cutscenes I had seen, but the gameplay looked so far removed from what Rocksteady do, it’s unreal and I don’t think I want to play this at all. If I was Rocksteady/WB, I would have made this a 4 player coop game without anything remotely live service. I’m a huge fan of Rocksteady, but I think I’ll pass on this in its current form. It’s not worth the disc that it will come on. Also, I really felt sorry for the talented people at Rocksteady trying to hard sell this. Even their smiles looked pained with what they were saying.. oh man..

Re: Legendary Game Designer Shinji Mikami Reportedly Leaving Tango Gameworks

Bionic-Spencer

This is happening again and again. The studios that Microsoft purchase are getting to see what it’s like to work under the Microsoft umbrella and this isn’t the first high profile figure to leave after their studios are acquired. Not long ago there were departures from Playground games aswell. He is only 57, so still a few years left in the industry for sure. These guys are setting up companies to make a mark in the industry, to fight for what they want. When they have Microsoft making them throw all their hard work onto GamePass, there are no rewards for their risks. It has to work differently for the people that make the games.

Re: Fans and Media Reflect on the PS4's PlayStation Meeting a Decade Later

Bionic-Spencer

The E3 that followed this presentation was the reason why I moved over from Xbox and went to the PlayStation brand almost exclusively. After getting the 100% on Gears of War 3 and getting disillusioned in the direction that Microsoft was heading, I needed a change. I watch the 2013 conference now and again to see Sony really come out fighting after Microsoft’s worst showing in years! Microsoft basically did the same as what Sony did after the PS2 era. They thought they were invincible and could do whatever they wanted and gamers would allow it.
