Re: Amidst Sony's Disc Debacle, Capcom Sales Data Is a Brutal Reality Check for Fans of Physical Media

Bionic-Spencer

I am a collector of physical media for sure and predominantly I collect Capcom games, even have an Instagram page set up that 100% features Capcom. This is the only company that I would hate to lose the physical side of gaming from, but with these numbers, it’s easy to say that after this generation, my physical collecting isn’t going to grow much further ahead. Thankyfully, I still need an awful lot of physical games from yesteryear, so right now I am prioritising that side of my collection before the prices take a sharp upward turn!

Re: 'They Wait for This Storm to Pass': No Chance of Sony Walking Back Its Decision to Kill Discs, Warns Analyst

Bionic-Spencer

They won’t back down on this, so neither will I. I point blankly refuse to support a digital only games industry where ownership of a game will be non existent after 2028. I have around 800 games in my physical backlog and given the fact I probably do around 40 platinums a year, I think it’s safe to assume I will have years of gaming ahead of me without a new generation of control. I won’t buy a new console after the PS5, it’s just not worth it anymore. Gaming has become so stale anyway and with beloved studios getting closed or gutted of all their creative people, I honestly can’t see anything to look forward to, besides Capcom!

Re: 'You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy': PlayStation's YouTube Comments Are a Horror Show

Bionic-Spencer

I personally only buy games that have all their content on Disc. Even though I loved the look of both Doom The Dark Ages and Indiana Jones, I passed on the ‘physical’ editions and would only consider picking up the digital versions if they were free on PSN or next to nothing. As far as myself going forward, I’ll keep buying complete physical editions of games as long as I can and when the PS6 finally arrives, if there isn’t a Disc Drive attachment that is sold along side it for all my old games, I’ll pass on the console entirely and play my absolute insane backlog which will easily keep he going for several years on PS4 and PS5! Apart from Devil May Cry 6, I can’t think of a future game of a franchise that I would be interested to play nowadays, Sony games franchises like Uncharted and God of War were the 2 titles that converted me to a Playstation gamer full time, adding the Last of Us 1 to that list, but over the last few years there really hasn’t been anything that I have really enjoyed from a 1st party PlayStation release that would make me want to continue the PlayStation journey. The first party games that have been released from Ragnarok really haven’t done anything for my interests and the future looks pretty bleak to that effect too. I think that my plan will be to move over to PC in a few years. I just have no trust for Sony anymore.

Re: Sony Takes Social Media Time Out After Controversially Killing Physical Games

Bionic-Spencer

Sony really are turning out to be a bunch of wimps. They ***** us all around with crazy decisions and then hide for a few days, but I would suspect this time it will be longer, maybe a week before coming back with an announcement to appease fans. When Bluepoint got closed down, they arrived with the wolverine release date. What this time, Bloodborne remake?? (Oh wait, Bluepoint…. )

Re: GTA 6 PS5 Disc Hopes Seemingly Dashed by Rockstar Source

Bionic-Spencer

I saw scalpers bragging about how many copies they were securing, or planning on securing for launch so I am happy to see that they won’t get anything from their awful practice. I personally buy only physical editions of games, but GTA6 is definitely a generational release and I wont miss out on it due to it only being digital at launch. If there is ever a physical release, I’ll buy that 100% later down the line! I also expect a themed control pad from Sony, so I’ll probably pick that up, at least!

Re: Price Hiked PS5 Endures Sony's Worst May in Over 25 Years

Bionic-Spencer

Honestly, if I were Sony (and Microsoft), I wouldn’t release a new console for a few years until hopefully everything settles down. The current consoles themselves run games very well and I just don’t think we are needing another jump anytime soon. A/ it will be super expensive for most people to buy new systems. B/ it feels like we are only starting to see the benefits of this generation after a slow transition and C/ with the price of development spiralling out of control, the last thing we need are developers squeezing even more into the look of games. It will just cause a huge crash with the way it’s going and developing a game will simply not recoup the prices. I would be very happy playing games that run as well as they can and be done with it for a while. I still think that the Last of us part 2 is one of the best looking games around, Callisto protocol really looks amazing, Destiny 2 is still a great looking game to this day and they were all last gen games that run great on PS5. This generation has had Spiderman 2, ghost of Yotei and Resident Evil 9 all looking amazing on base PS5 hardware. Keep the generation running until 2030 and allow everything to settle down. If not, we are all still going to be able to play amazing looking games without the need of pricing people out of the hobby any more than already is happening. When intergalactic makes it to market, whether the story is a mess or not, I have zero doubt that it will be the best looking game of the generation for sure. Laufey looks spectacular on a graphics level too. If that’s whats being done on PS5 hardware now, I personally don’t need more than that. Coupled with my insane back log, I honesty think I have about 5 years worth of gaming ahead of me.

Re: GTA 6 Confirmed to Be an $80 Game

Bionic-Spencer

I don’t think it would have made much of a difference what Rockstar decided to sell this game at, it will sell gargantuan amounts, but this is a fair price for sure. It also stops other companies selling games at higher prices should Rockstar of sold at £$100 because if it had been that price, it would definitely have opened more developers going for a higher price point. Thankfully that isn’t the case!

Re: Uproar as Halo PS5 Demands 2 PS Plus Subscriptions for Local Co-Op

Bionic-Spencer

Easy pass for me anyway, I have never been a fan of the series at all, but this is a crazy situation for the fans of the game! Its something that hasn’t been done by Sony before, or at least not that personally know about, so it has got to be something about how Microsoft wants to have couch co-op with people each logging into the 2 accounts and has had to have made Sony make the same decision since allowing 2 accounts on the same game without a PlayStation account perhaps causes a headache on a software level.. However, I guess the biggest thing will be if 2 players on Xbox both need to have an account each. If that’s the case, then this boils down to a Microsoft issue.

Re: Xbox Will 'Try to Do More' Console Exclusives if the Health of Its Business Improves

Bionic-Spencer

So let me get this straight , Microsoft wants to use PlayStation fans to help get their games business to a better place, because let’s be honest they aren’t getting help from their own fans since the are climatized to the GamePass way of playing games. Then if they manage to get the business moving in the right direction, to hell with the PlayStation fans that bought their games, they will go back to exclusives? And most of the exclusives that will be worth playing were only made so thanks to gigantic acquisitions, locking players away from games that they had been able to play on whatever format they wanted.. This all sounds completely pointless in supporting anything that Microsoft puts onto the PlayStation. Nope, they can ***** off!

Re: Rumour: Gears of War: E-Day Was Coming to PS5, Xbox Cancelled Port Very Recently

Bionic-Spencer

I played the Gears of War trilogy on Xbox back in the day and after doing the Onyx medals in 3, I promised myself I would never do a Gears game again. In fact, that grind literally drive me away from Xbox and back to PlayStation full time. Fast forward to recently and I decided to give Gears of War a go when it released on PS5 for nostalgia with friends and I found it to be way more Toxic online than I remembered, but more so, it just was nowhere near as good as I remembered. Even if E Day was to come to PlayStation, I definitely would not buy it this time around.

Re: Resident Evil Veronica Confirmed for PS5, Out in 2027

Bionic-Spencer

I imagine that Capcom have decided to make this the 5th game in the series, the 6th remake could be the 5th game, that was a great game and the setting was awesome. Then when it comes to the remake of the actual 6th game, well, I don’t know really. I didn’t like it, so I would be happy to forget that ever happened. But the game certainly has its fans and I wouldn’t like to see them miss out on a proper remake.

Re: Bungie Is Not Making Destiny 3, Dev to Be Rocked by 'Significant' Layoffs

Bionic-Spencer

This is a sad day for sure. I have played Destiny from the beginning and it was the game that most of my friends list came from. With D2 there have been way too many missteps, but the game always played very well. The gunplay was immense. This does really feel like the end of Bungie. I can’t see them making another game after this. If they made D3 now, I don’t think it would be successful at all. D2 should have concluded properly on the final shape expansion, that would have been a good way to go out, very much of a high. But Destiny has had its day. Maybe if Bungie were allowed the time to make a new game, a new universe to explore, they may be able to keep going, but realistically it’s probably too little too late. I expect Bungie will simply exist to keep D1 and D2 running, but focus most on Marathon until that too becomes a casualty of Herman Hulsts utter mismanagement.

Re: Destiny 2 Support Ending After 9 Years, Sony Dev Bungie to Focus on a 'New Beginning'

Bionic-Spencer

I hope they don’t do a Destiny 3 after the way that D2 has been handled. What i would like to see is a single player game that is in the same scope as Halo was. Create a universe that gamers can enjoy with an amazing story. Then go with online multiplayer as a bolted on extra. That would keep the die hards entertained well after the story is completed. What I will say is, I thought when
Sony got control of Bungie, we would see a resurgence in quality. But Bungie were better on their own…

Re: State of Play Confirmed for 2nd June, 60+ Minutes of Wolverine and PS5 Games

Bionic-Spencer

I’ll check it out, but I am way more interesting tosee what Capcom announces at the show. They usually have something of note for these kinds of Sony events, so all I would like to see is something about Devil May Cry (remake of 1 or a 6th entry, I am not fussed) and whatever they are doing on the resident evil front, perhaps a remake announcement of 5 or Code:Veronica! If any of that shows up, then this will be a perfect nights viewing!

Re: 'We're Not Standing Still': Returnal Director Forms New Studio to Make Games That Trust You

Bionic-Spencer

It’s a really weird pattern when you hear about new studios that were formed by people that had their studios bought out by both Sony and Microsoft. As soon as they are under the Umbrella of each corporation, they get out and probably with enough funds to safekeep them. Playground, Ninja Theory and now Housemarque all lost directors of note, with 2 of them now going on to set up new studios. I imagine there are way more aswell that have done the same.

Re: Xbox Fans Flock to Online Suggestions Box to Tell Microsoft to Keep Games Off PS5

Bionic-Spencer

I would not really be too upset if Microsoft removed all their games from PlayStation. Apart from the fact that Microsoft controls some major franchises thanks to just steamrolling in with a massive bag of money, the home grown games that Microsoft have made have not been of interest to me at all. I don’t particularly like Call of Duty anyway though, Bethesda is a mess with most games and everything else just doesn’t really grab my attention! I bought a PlayStation to play Sony exclusives and I would like to see Sony actually using some of their Dormant IPs. They would have more than enough to keep me happy and I definitely rate their games over Microsoft’s.

Re: PlayStation Shutting Something Else Down, But It's Not a Studio This Time

Bionic-Spencer

Sony are becoming the new EA. It would be wild if they could go a year without shutting something down at this point. I imagine Haven will be next and I wouldn’t be shocked if Bungie went under too, which is crazy to think.. As far as closures and loss of talent goes, it would be awesome if the guys that were at Bluepoint started up as a new company and got back to what worked best for them, remaking classics. Whether they would work with Sony after their recent dealings is another thing though..

Re: Dead Rising Franchise Still Alive as Capcom Considers Sequels, Remakes

Bionic-Spencer

Dead Rising going back to the time limit gameplay would be brilliant, I still think the first game is the best in the series, so something in line with that would be fantastic!! Devil May Cry is getting some really heavy rumours about a remake of the first game right now too, so that would be fantastic. Although I very much expect to see something about Dino Crisis at some point, I would personally like to see Darkstalkers making a comeback! It’s definitely one of Capcoms best fighting game series’ and with Street Fighter slowly updating with seasons, it would be great to see another fighter to come out in the middle of Street Fighters life span to bulk up the genre for Capcom!! Finally, I would love to see a sequel to the Bionic Commando from the 360/Ps3 era. I know it wasn’t to everyone’s taste, but building a sequel internally as opposed to being sourced and working up the story that was played with in the first game, I honestly think it would and could be absolutely amazing!!

Re: Xbox Is Flip-Flopping on PS5 Again, and It's Truly Getting Tiring

Bionic-Spencer

They have spent so much time telling everyone that their games will be available everywhere, to pull back now would be a bit insane. Not hardcore gamers, but casuals who don’t spend all their time checking out all these kinds of sites are not going to pay any attention to Microsoft’s messages and will only expect that they are going towards being a 3rd party developer. Apart from COD, Forza Horizon and Minecraft, which I feel would all stay Multiplatform, honestly I don’t feel like there is anything else that would turn heads really. One thing, if Microsoft revert to timed releases, that could be a messy situation too. Taking StarField, it came out a while back and garnered so much negativity that when it came to the PlayStation release, it pretty much failed miserably. At the time, Bethesda I think it was said that they were expecting to lose 6 million sales not releasing on PlayStation. They won’t be seeing sales like that now and that is why releasing games day and date on Xbox and PlayStation would help sales numbers as press won’t have a year to slate a game before it’s released again. On the flip side, if Microsoft went full exclusive, it may make Sony actually stop messing everyone about and actually try again, because this generation really has been a dogs mess…

Re: Post-Pragmata, Capcom Starts Hyping Up Onimusha's PS5 Revival

Bionic-Spencer

I love thinking back to how much Capcom has grown the last few years into arguably one of the best and most consistent publishers! The turning point was likely around Resident Evil 7, it’s just been an amazing ride! Guaranteed, Onimusha will be amazing, it just looks too good to not be. This year I also expect to see a big trailer on Okami 2, the 20th anniversary for the first game was on the 20th of this month and surely showing the sequel would be good way to celebrate the event!! Even better times ahead!

Re: This Pragmata PR Gift Might Be the Most Insane Press Kit We've Ever Seen

Bionic-Spencer

I hate seeing influencers’ get these kinds of things. Generally they don’t even care about these games, they just faff around on their social media accounts showing stuff off. A few weeks later, they put these things on EBay for the real fans to try and get them! I have a genuine love for Capcom and I would 100% love things like this in my own collection! And I definitely wouldn’t be selling them
Either!

Re: Rumour: Xbox Debating Whether to Make Its Games Exclusive Again

Bionic-Spencer

I honestly would not be bothered one way or another. The only 2 games I bought that were Microsoft games were Sea of Thieves and Gears of War. Although I am a huge Forza fan, I preferred the 4th entry, so I passed on the 5th. Everything else hasn’t appealed to me. I think that if they go back to exclusives, it won’t help them at all really. Bethesda seems incapable of releasing a working game so they won’t be a huge miss either. Microsoft are in a lose lose situation, they stop making games available to PlayStations, they will lose out on the money available to them. Keep releasing and they will devalue the Xbox brand until it’s no longer worth the effort releasing systems. The damage for them has been done.

Re: PS5 Price Hike Hits Japan Hard as PS5 Pro Sales Sink to Xbox Levels

Bionic-Spencer

Back in the day, Sony and all other manufacturers used to take a real hit on Console profits, selling them for a loss and making money back on sales of software. Sony could easily go back to that ethos, especially this late on in the generation. At worst, they could have kept the prices that they were at, it certainly would have kept sales at the levels they were at instead of crashing.
