Re: Sony May Have Added Another First-Party Studio to Its Roster

Bionic-Spencer

With all the talk centering on the AB acquisition by Microsoft, it definitely has meant that Sony has been playing their own acquisitions very close to their chests! I would not be surprised if we hear about a few more of these stories in the coming months. Personally I would love it if Sony were to negotiate a deal with WB Games, but I could only see that happening if the AB deal were to go through.

Re: Capcom Ducks Street Fighter 6 News at Capcom Cup Finals

Bionic-Spencer

I think it’s pretty good that Capcom are going to focus the show around Street Fighter 5. This will likely be the last big event where 5 will take centre stage, so there is no need to mute that with SF6 news. Everything will ramp up after this towards the release of 6 anyway! Can’t wait!!!

Re: Bobby Kotick Says Sony Is 'Trying to Sabotage' Microsoft's Activision Bid

Bionic-Spencer

Maybe Bobby needs to remember that an absolute Sh*t tonne of money that has come into his company is because of the PlayStation brand?

If this deal finally goes through, I hope Sony have been quietly working behind the scenes to pounce on Square Enix and maybe even another developer or 2, because surely if Microsoft go for anymore acquisitions after this, they are definitely going to get stopped in their tracks. I can’t see them being allowed to get too much more after Activision Blizzard.

Re: UK Determines Xbox's $69 Billion Activision Buyout Could Harm Gamers

Bionic-Spencer

Microsoft had enough games and developers under their belts to have as many exclusives as Sony does. Sony bought Naughty Dog way before Uncharted and the Last of Us, Guerilla before HZD, Sucker punch before Ghost of Tsushima. Where Microsoft doubled down on Gears, gears and oh yes, Halo, Sony have slowly but surely been creating IPs that have flourished. Now Microsoft are complaining because they can’t compete with what Sony has done. I’m not surprised. Sony buys developers and helps them along until they are throwing out incredible stuff. Microsoft buys developers and up until now have them doing almost nothing. It’s also strange to see so many people that used to be tied to developers that Microsoft buy break away and make their own studios!?! That is off right there. Anyway, when Microsoft were at E3 lauding all those developers they had bought, there was more than enough tallent for Microsoft to get a steady stream of games. Almost nothing has come from that. Then they bought Bethesda and broke all the promises they made about them. Being a publisher, they really should have been blocked there and then. If this deal doesn’t go through, which I really hope for gaming it doesn’t, Microsoft will simply look elsewhere at acquisitions. These will likely be more like developers again.

Re: UK Determines Xbox's $69 Billion Activision Buyout Could Harm Gamers

Bionic-Spencer

I personally don’t like the idea of any hardware manufacturer owning entire publishers. When Microsoft bought Bethesda, they said they would look at titles on a game by game basis that they would see which ones would still be available to PlayStation. So far, nothing. All the big releases are staying on Xbox, so I’m really not surprised that this is going the way it is. If Microsoft makes all the promises before a purchase, their track record usually means that they will do the exact opposite afterwards.
I just don’t think publishers should be tied to one platform and the obvious risk that is associated with that is being pondered by regulators too. In the end, this won’t effect me as I own all consoles, but I don’t like the thought of console manufacturers doing this at all.

Re: Original Director Glen Schofield Thanks Motive for Faithful PS5 Dead Space Remake

Bionic-Spencer

I have both games, but I haven’t played either of them as I decided to wait until the inevitable patches were implemented to give me the best possible experience! Reading into both games a little, I feel that I am going to enjoy Dead Space the most, but I am really looking forward to seeing what the Callisto Protocol has to offer! I also expect both games to have the sequel treatment in the future, and I do think the 2nd Callisto will be a lot better than the first.

Re: PS5 Shipments Eclipse 32.1 Million Units, with Huge Year Ahead

Bionic-Spencer

Hopefully with the numbers of consoles growing rapidly, we can leave the PS4 generation behind! Don’t get me wrong, it’s been absolutely brilliant and definitely one of the best generations for amazing games, but I would really like to see what the PS5 is capable of without having to be constrained by the last generation. I would expect that Spider-Man 2 is going to look absolutely brilliant, but the more the developers get used with programming solely for the PS5, I can envisage some absolutely amazing looking titles to come!

Re: Motive Studio Is Keen on 'Exploring Dead Space More'

Bionic-Spencer

I am sure that the plan from inside EA will be to remake the second game if the first one is as successful as it seems it’s going to be. Then after that, the idea really should be to extensively remake the 3rd game. That could have been the pinnacle of horror games. The whole vibe I got from that was ‘The Thing’, but too much messing around with what made the first 2 games awesome really ruined the 3rd game.

Re: Xbox, Nintendo Reportedly Join Sony in Skipping E3

Bionic-Spencer

Although it’s been on a massive decline over the years, I used to really look forward to E3. It was awesome seeing everything announced over the course of a few days and it definitely made everything feel like a big deal! Highlights for me over the most recent E3s was Devil May Cry 5s announcement, the awesome God of War reveal, Sonys pricing announcement of PS4 and the digs at Xbox, Final Fantasy 7 Remake reveal and the Arkham Knight showing.

Re: Naughty Dog May Move On from The Last of Us Like It Did with Uncharted

Bionic-Spencer

I would love to see Naughty Dog give Uncharted another run out instead of a Last of Us Part 3. I would also like to have seen Nathan Drake back as the lead, I just love the Uncharted games. If Naughty Dog are done with that, then I would love to see someone else give the series a bash. The dream set up would be for Amy Hennig to be back at Sony with her own team and make a 5th. I missed to whole supernatural twist in the 4th game, although having played Thief’s End a few times now, it is probably my second favourite game in the series. Back to LoU3, I do think it will happen, but it would be the last game in the series for sure, but 2 did have enough in it to be a good enough end to the franchise also.

Re: Dead Space Remake Trophies Demand at Least Two Playthroughs for the Platinum

Bionic-Spencer

This Platinum run sounds very much the same as the original on PS3, so it shouldn’t be too terrible. I’m very much looking forward to playing this and I hope it does well. I would love to see Dead Space 2 getting the same remake treatment. Not because it really needs it, but then there may be the chance to remake the 3rd and that game needs a power of help to get it to the same level of quality as the first 2!

Re: Ubisoft Boss Apologises for 'Ball Is in Your Court' Comment During Company-Wide Q&A

Bionic-Spencer

It won’t be long before Ubisoft are taken over by someone and it probably won’t be the worst thing to happen. I had actually thought that Sony may have gone with an acquisition offer after Microsoft bought Bethesda, but now I guess it will be Tencent or Embracer Group. They need to get rid of so many people that have destroyed Ubisoft from the inside also, the work culture that they have created there is an absolute mess.

Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo

Bionic-Spencer

I tried it, but I didn’t like it at all! The characters talking to each other came over as an annoying teen and a Jarvis type character from Iron Man. No, I couldn’t stomach that at all. I actually did a bit of exploring rather than follow the demo path to see what the world was like and although pretty vast, I found it a bit sparse. I also have issues with HDR. I have a really good TV, but games vary from awesome to awful in HDR and this definitely falls into the latter. All in all, I cancelled my preorder after playing this and I won’t be reordering the game.

Re: PlayStation Says Activision Blizzard Simply Must Remain Independent

Bionic-Spencer

This is just an absolute mess. Microsoft are the worst thing that could ever have happened to gaming and it’s dragging Sony down to their levels. Thankfully I can’t stand CoD, so I won’t miss that game at all, but I feel like I’m a minority at this point. All Sony should do is leave Microsoft to it, try and tie down a few acquisitions of their own before it’s too late, WB Games or Ubisoft would definitely be a worthwhile investment. It’s getting to the point that Sony will need to strengthen via acquisitions before Microsoft go for even more once they are done with buying Activision. It’s just the worst thing ever reading all this. I remember reading in a trade paper around 1999 when Microsoft were getting into the gaming industry that they intended to take Sony on and that they didn’t enter a market with the intention to lose. I knew back then that after a while, Microsoft would just start f***ing everything up to get what they wanted..

Re: EA Reportedly Writes Off Project CARS, DiRT Franchises

Bionic-Spencer

I don’t know why developers would ever let themselves be purchased by EA. They get bought out at the top of their game in most cases and slowly but surely get dissolved or closed down. EA is the worst thing in gaming. Sure Project Cars was diminishing in quality, but it’s just horrible to see how EA treat what they buy out.

Re: Poll: Will You Pay the PSVR2 Launch Price?

Bionic-Spencer

I voted that I wouldn’t be picking it up, not because I didn’t want it or that it was too expensive, but it’s because of motion sickness. I would love to own a PSVR2 set and I have been
Extremely impressed by what I’ve seen, but I know through use of headsets before hand that I would literally last a few minutes tops before I would be lying down feeling sick for hours!!

Re: PSVR2 Launches 22nd February 2023, Costs $550

Bionic-Spencer

I would have really liked to have given this a run, but the overriding factor for me is the fact I suffer terrible motion sickness. Price is pretty much as expected, this kind of technology isn’t going to come cheap, but I do think that anyone buying this is definitely going to understand where the money has gone once they put it to use. Some of the tech that Sony has used here sounds pretty insane!

Re: Naughty Dog and Sony's Newest Studio Are Co-Developing Project Based on a 'Beloved Franchise'

Bionic-Spencer

I would love to see an Uncharted 5! Uncharted was one of the main reasons I bought a PS3 and PS4 as I loved the series! Although 4 wasn’t the greatest of the games, after I played through it 3 times, I really came to appreciate the story. Graphically it was an awesome game aswell, so that was a bonus. I am sounding like I’m in the minority, but I would love to have Nathan back as the main character along with Sully. The game wouldn’t have to be set directly after the end of 4, but I’m sure a new adventure could have been squeezed in after that game ended on Libertalia! One other thing I would love to see would be the supernatural approach that Amy Hennig brought to the series being replicated. I was always waiting for Ghost Pirates to suddenly appear at the end of 4, but as it ended up it wasn’t meant to be. One more time? Oh Yes!!

Re: Poll: Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

Bionic-Spencer

I prefer graphics to look awesome, so I can live with the 30fps that most games adhere to, as long as the game looks way better because of it, but considering the quality under the hood of the PS5, I don’t think it’s too unreasonable to have a higher frame rate also. Having said that, Horizon Forbidden West looked immense at 60fps and the quality reduction wasn’t life changing. I’m
Really looking forward to seeing how God of War looks, that should look incredible. From what I’ve seen on Gotham Knights, I don’t think there really is any reason why there shouldn’t have been a 60fps mode in that title though. I except that there will be some kind of patch later down the line.

Re: No 'Concrete Plans' for Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake

Bionic-Spencer

I am more than sure that Veronica will get announced that it will get the remake treatment sooner than later. It’s probably the one that most fans would want to see. It would definitely sell exceptionally well. I also also like to see Capcom branch off into other series’. Devil May Cry 1 - 3, Dino Crisis and Onimusha would be amazing remakes with the RE engine!!!

Re: Poll: Will You Buy the DualSense Edge PS5 Controller, Now We Have a Price?

Bionic-Spencer

The main thing I liked about this control pad was the possibility to replace components, specifically the sticks. Although so far, touch wood and all that, my original Dual Sense hasn’t got drift, I would feel a bit ill having to buy new Dual Sense pads if that was to afflict me. That made the Edge desirable for me….. then Sony announced the price. It’s basically the same price as 3 pads and going by Sonys pricing policy of late, I would say that replacement analogue sticks will be something ludicrous like £29.99 for a pair. Unless the stick drift was a 100% possibility of effecting the original pads after a set time the Edge may end up being worthwhile after a few years, but as it stand it’s too much unfortunately.

Re: Enormous Appetite for PS5 Pro Pad As DualSense Edge Trends

Bionic-Spencer

I will likely buy this, not because of the fact it is so highly customisable, but the idea of being able to replace Analogue sticks is appealing. Instead of losing entire pads, changing over faulty parts would definitely be helpful if there are stick drift issues. On Price topic, I imagine it will cost around £130 odd. Anything less would be brilliant though.
