For me the only existing character that makes sense is Hunnigan really. But then I remember this Resident Evil and as much as I love the series it's not known for it's logical, cohesive storytelling.
I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't actually decided and put it in knowing it would generate a lot of discussion and will leave it unknown as long as it continues to do so.
@Neither_scene that's even more suspicious. It does seem they are hiding showing base performance until the last possible minute. Maybe they are scrambling to have a patch ready for launch day that will work fine and don't want to show a performance that customers won't see when patched. It doesn't inspire confidence for me personally.
Bizarre why they only tested the Pro. Surely they were given a code for the game which would work on both. So unless they were only given permission to talk about the Pro version why wouldn't they also test the base PS5.
Strange to do this now when the 30th anniversary is only a couple of weeks a way. Maybe they will give full details on the mode then. The story expansion being further along and them showing it would be great also but if it's not so be it.
Despite having it platinumed I've left it installed ready for anything new.
A lot of talk of length of the game, it really depends on your playstyle. On my first playthrough I like to explore everything I can and generally try to pick up every item. I found myself studying the map when playing as Grace planning out carefully what routes to take to get to things. As Leon when he gets to Raccoon City, I really took my time walking around taking in the atmosphere, again making sure I covered every inch. By the end my 'playtime' was 17 and a half hours.
My second run doing no healing and not thinking about files/collectibles was just over 8.
I still plan a couple more runs to attempt the platinum so I will easily get about 40ish hours of entertainment out of it before I put it down.
Great addition to the series. Not quite my favourite but up with the best.
If it's coming this year we hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer to get an official reveal of what it is. Whatever it is I am interested. I likewise have pondered a replay recently but hold of for a while until we know more.
I’m not bothered who the main character is along as they are interesting and enjoyable to play. With this I have confidence in Corey. Hearing it will have Devil May Cry style action is a big enthusiasm dampener for me though.
I’ll wait for an actual game reveal before making any judgement.
I let my sub expire in Nov hoping for a sale. There have been a few sales since but every time the Essential tier has not been included. In all the months since the monthly games have never tempted me to rejoin. My online playing is so infrequent that I've found my need for PS Plus to be far short of 'essential'.
Fair enough it sounds like Bluepoint possibly lacked the creative leads to pull off an original game like they seemed to want to do, but when that fails and they start pitching remakes again I still don't understand why they couldn't have been handed the newly announced GoW remakes which they have greenlit. It either frees up Santa Monica to concentrate on other stuff or helps them get them done quicker.
The problem with such realistic yet fantastical graphics in the game is that trying to replicate it in real life always looks a bit...off. Still, it depends how it all holds together in motion.
It's a shame the 'Avatar' method is so costly. That kind of approach would work better for this kind of thing.
My main concern with the series is when it starts leaning to hard into the action side and I had minor worries of this. Still, I can't wait to play it and I'm confident I'll still enjoy it.
Utterly shocked with this one. As soon as we heard of the GoW trilogy remakes I was certain that was what Bluepoint had been moved to after the live service game disaster. Years of knowledge working with Santa Monica on the IP and experts at remakes/remasters. Unfathomable decision.
So if Judge is involved with the new game it basically is just a God of War game! As much as I loved the last two games I was ready for something new. Still, no point speculating until we know exactly what it is and it seems we will know later this year.
I can't see them going completely discless yet but wouldn't be surprised if it is mainly sold discless but with a separate disc drive purchasable. Much like with the 5/Pro now.
Seeing as I firmly believe Bluepoint has been put on the job of making these, I think the remakes will be exactly like Demon Souls. Fundamentally the same games but graphically up to date with some minor quality of life improvements.
I mean, it’s a fairly obvious prediction. I said as much last week.
It’s a shame it doesn’t seem to be a completely new IP though. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets revealed at this year’s game awards. Geoff might want to make sure he gets a banger for his closer this time.
@Oram77 @trev666 I just had a quick go of it and did the save transfer it offered. Playing my last save just before the epilogue popped one trophy for walking 50km 😄 By quickly doing the epilogue I got the trophies for completing the game as well as all quests.
So no actual auto-pop but if you have saves at certain points you could probably get many quicker.
I'm going to replay anyway but might test if any of my saves help get some of the more awkward trophies out of the way first.
I did quite enjoy the demo but will admit I found it tricky to do the hacking mechanic whilst also paying attention on not getting attacked. Made it through to the end without really getting close to dying so maybe it's not too punishing for getting hit.
@Zeroo The article clearly states this game was developed by Mega Cat Studios working with SM. Santa Monica definitely have something else in the works, most likely Corey Barlog's project.
I wouldn't be surprised if that and Intergalactic are Sony's main plans for 2027.
I wouldn't be surprised if the GoW Trilogy Remake is being handled by Bluepoint working with Santa Monica. They already helped with Ragnarok and were working with the IP for years after on the live service game that got cancelled last year.
Plus they are dab hands at remakes.
EDIT: Also it would make for perfect project to come up with at short notice after cancelling the other game.
I wouldn't be surprised if the GoW Trilogy Remake is being handled by Bluepoint working with Santa Monica. They already helped with Ragnarok and were working with the IP for years after on the live service game that got cancelled last year.
@DennisReynolds I've always imagined a lot of the most recent updates for NMS have been helpful tests for gameplay features being built for the new game. It seems the ongoing success of NMS has helped them to take their time to make the next game more ambitious.
None of the poll answers really fit for me. I'm not really looking forward to it but I'm willing to be swayed to get it if the update has a dramatic effect on improving it.
My mind pondered if the rumoured crunch recently at Naughty Dog could be related to getting a gameplay trailer ready for this. In behind the scenes docs it seems that used to be a thing for the big E3 showcases. Just a thought.
Not really going to expect anything in particular but an hour SoP is a rare thing lately.
@rjejr yeah it could work better to merge some elements. I'm assuming they are concentrating mainly on the first game for the first season of the show but maybe they are doing all of it in one season.
@honda Not in any way dismissing your opinion of the game but I'm just fascinated by the effort you have gone to for a game you found so uninspired and boring. You carried on playing for over 20 hours? Surely you have played enough rounds in a hour or two to know if you liked it or not? Then went to the effort of creating an account on a site just for this game.
Fair play for giving it a chance, I just can't imagine devoting that much time and effort for something I disliked.
Feels like they are making the Ragnarok story instead of the original one. Most of these characters are not in the first game. I’m guessing they are going to mesh the two into one.
@Aniscape @nessisonett I've certainly never been a fan of the animus parts of AC and have been of the opinion that they would be better games as standalone historical adventures. Saying that, your idea would be an interesting way to frame the remake and give more freedom to rework the worst bits.
I love a good open world to explore and this one does look visually impressive and vast. I'm not sure the combat looks to my taste, a bit over the top with all the powers and effects going off. Plus I'm not big on lots of long boss fights.
I feel like it's trying to do too many different systems and styles though.
Also, the videos are still lots of edited together clips. I'd like to see a full 15 minutes of unedited footage of doing a side-quest or something.
I let my sub expire at the end of November planning on resubbing with a Black Friday sale. Of course they never offered a sale on the essential tier so I left it for now. None of the monthly games since have made me ponder for a second about rejoining.
Great news (if true of course). Having in the main saga up to 4 all in the modern style would be ideal for me. Hopefully Zero afterwards is true and then they do the original again.
When I borrowed a friends 360 many years ago the Fable games were the only ones I truly enjoyed of the ones I tried. So this looks very promising to me. Still much to learn so I will wait for reviews but this is the first Xbox game I'm interested in.
Admittedly my only exposure to Roblox was a Dunky video but if all the content is similar to what he played it looked like cobbled together garbage. It's really hard to fathom why it is popular.
I posted a link in the Chit Chat Thread of the forums on Friday about this. Luke Stevens is one of the people behind it and did a quick video explaining what to expect.

Re: Spider-Man: Brand New Day Just Did Something Even GTA 6 Couldn't
Hate to be that guy but I think it does more than 'hint' Punisher and Bruce Banner, it outright shows them.
Anyway, the most I've been interested in a Marvel film in quite a while it seems. I hope it doesn't suffer from having too many characters though.

Re: Rumour: God of War Dev Working on 'A New Franchise Within the God of War Universe'
Hasn't the Atreus thing been dismissed by 'insiders'? Maybe we will play as Ra or Osiris in a game or 2 that ends up tying back to Kratos at the end.

I've just forced myself to stop playing as I don't want to go too late. I've done a good few hours this afternoon/evening.
Without saying too much I've just got wristband level 2. Outstanding game so far.

Yep. Currently skulking around as Grace wanting a big boy to go somewhere other than where I want to go.
Really is a beautiful looking game (in a fittingly disgusting way).
